What is Social in Social, Clips & Thumbs?

Social makes posts and carousels about the themes your shows cover, with a caption in your channel's voice. It works in three steps: Start from, Pick a design and Write. The steps sit in a row across the top and only the current one shows, with Back and Next under it.

First, choose what to start from: Theme guide, One episode (One post for a social account) or A topic, and choose another show at the top. Picking a theme opens the design step. Theme guide shows cards for the topics a show keeps coming back to, each with the pictures and the number of episodes that carry it. They are read from the tags on its episodes, or, when a show has none, from the places and subjects its own titles and descriptions name again and again. One episode repurposes a single episode or post you pick from a list. A topic takes your own words, such as Palm Springs: if the show's episodes cover it, it becomes a guide built from them; otherwise it becomes a single post.

Then pick a design. Every template is drawn at full size with your theme: Photo headline, Bold quote, Editorial, Color band, Minimal card and Accent sidebar. Choose the shape (Square, Portrait, Story or Landscape) and whether it is a single post or a carousel. Theme guide starts you on a carousel; One episode and A topic start on a single post.

Last, select Next: Write the post, or Write in the row of steps. Opening the Write step writes the post, and Write it again makes a new version. The post words and a few caption options are written from the newest episodes on that theme. A carousel on a theme is a guide: a cover whose headline gives the number of points, then one slide for each episode, numbered 1 onward, with that episode's own picture, a heading and a sentence or two about it. At least one caption option names the points. The slides show large beside the caption, which you can edit, with suggested hashtags you can turn on or off. Under each slide, New photo makes a clean picture from that slide's subject and Upload puts in your own, so you can change the cover and any point on its own. Beside the slides, Refine takes a request in your own words, such as a shorter headline, a warmer tone or a sunset photo on the cover, and rewrites the post as asked; it makes a new cover picture only when you ask about the picture. Then download the slides (a carousel downloads as one .zip file of its slides, a single post as one picture), copy the caption, or save the post to My Outputs. A single post can also be copied as a picture with Copy picture to clipboard. Set the default shape, design, brand color, hashtags and logo in Preferences.
