What is Ask & Search?
Ask & Search is the search on your website, trained on every word in every episode and post you have published. It is one box with a switch over it. Ask a question and you get an answer drawn from your own posts, with a link to each one it used. It also reads your site's News / Blog articles, the outside news stories you list there, and a Substack you connected, and answers from them too. Switch to Find a word and you land on the exact moment a phrase was said, plus the News / Blog articles and Substack posts that contain it.
Visitors narrow a search with the line under the box (Searching all channels, Change), which opens Choose channels: each channel, plus your News or Blog (named what your site calls it), which covers your own articles and your Substack posts together.
It runs on your site's Search page, at the end of your Live Portrait, and anywhere you place a Search block in the page editor. The example chips under the box are yours to set in your site's CMS under Settings, in the Search tab.
Search reads transcripts, so it covers the episodes and posts that have one. For an Instagram or TikTok post it also reads the caption you typed under it, the location you tagged and what its photos show. On a site that is not turned on yet, that is the newest 10 of each show, and on a site still importing it is whatever has finished. Both Ask a question and Find a word work in either case, and the Search page states how many of the total are covered so far. Turning the site on adds the rest.
