What are page layouts?

Ready-made pages: a set of blocks already arranged for a common kind of page. Pick one, then replace the placeholder text and images with your own. Each card in the picker is drawn in your site's own colors and fonts so you can see how it will look.

On a page, the picker leads with the pages people add most: Basic text (one rich text area for plain written pages), About Landing (the story beside a photo, then a contact form), Contact Landing, Questions and answers, Team Landing, Photo story, and News article. The landing pages a site is built with once (Home, Channel, and News landings, Live Portrait, the social wall, and the artist and filmmaker pages) are under More layouts.

On a post or a News article, the picker shows only article layouts, News article first: the post's title as the headline, a lead photo, and the story.

Find them on any empty page, where the editor asks how you want to start, or with the Add layout button in the page editor.

Start with a page already laid out.

Choose a photo story, an about page, a contact page or another layout in your own theme.

Before you start

Choose the kind of page you need: an about page, contact page, photo story or another available layout. Have your own text and images ready to replace the placeholders.

Step 1

Find the layout picker

Open the page in Website Builder and choose Add layout. Use the page’s purpose to choose a suitable structure: an introduction, a landing page or a more detailed page with several sections.

Open an empty page and choose a ready-made layout, or select Add layout in the page editor.

Pages and news articles offer different choices. Article editors show article layouts, while the page picker includes common pages and More layouts.

Step 2

Choose the structure, then replace its content

Preview the available layouts and choose one. Use More Layouts for additional landing-page choices. Replace sample headings, text and images with your own; selecting a layout does not make its placeholder content ready to publish.

Review the layout cards in your site’s colors and fonts. Pick the structure that best fits your content, rather than the one with the most sections.

The layout is a starting arrangement of editable blocks. You can adjust it after adding it.

Step 3

Check the blocks and publish

Edit the inserted blocks, including button links and form destinations. Check section order and spacing with your actual text, then review at a narrow width. Save the draft or publish the reviewed page and test its public links.

Replace placeholder text, images and links throughout the page. Remove sections you do not need and review any form or contact details.

Check the whole page at desktop and mobile widths before publishing. A layout is only ready when its placeholder content has become your own.

Review checklist

Every placeholder has been replaced or removed.
Buttons, links and form destinations are correct.
The layout reads well with your actual content.

If you get stuck

You cannot find the layout you want

Look under More layouts on a page. An article editor intentionally offers article layouts only.

The layout has too much content

Remove unnecessary blocks and keep the sections that serve the page’s purpose.
