officer mark castille of garland texas
00:02:26
was dispatched to back up the fire
00:02:27
department on an injured person report
00:02:30
at first glance the man appeared to have
00:02:32
been changing a tire when the vehicle
00:02:34
had fallen on his foot
00:02:35
only problem
00:02:36
the car wasn't his
00:02:38
we get there and this man looked like he
00:02:40
was changing a tire and the vehicle had
00:02:42
fallen on his foot
00:02:44
and he was trapped by the foot
00:02:46
and we go up to help this young man and
00:02:48
get to looking at the car and realize
00:02:49
that the column was peeled it was
00:02:51
actually a stolen car he was stripping
00:02:53
it when it fell on his foot and trapped
00:02:55
him trapped by the foot begging us to
00:02:56
get the car off his foot and with that
00:02:59
they took the car off his foot so he
00:03:01
could hoof it straight to jail
00:03:07
a former detective with the andalusia
00:03:09
alabama police department told us about
00:03:11
a baseball player who thought he was
00:03:14
safe at home
00:03:15
when the officer arrived on the scene he
00:03:17
saw tracks leading from the back door
00:03:19
across the yard and up to a house
00:03:21
the tracks appeared to be baseball shoes
00:03:23
with cleats on them
00:03:25
glass followed the distinctive
00:03:26
footprints up to the door of the house
00:03:28
where they disappeared
00:03:30
one look at the dumb criminal's shoes
00:03:32
and the detective knew he had his man
00:03:34
yeah sir
00:03:36
good you live here i live here
00:03:39
what'd you do just hit a home run next
00:03:40
door i was playing baseball yeah okay
00:03:43
why don't you go to the station turn
00:03:44
around place your hands behind your back
00:03:45
for me
00:03:47
the man was arrested and charged with
00:03:48
the break-in
00:03:50
he had just struck out
00:03:53
and now crimes of the week with daniel
00:03:55
butler and beaumont bacon hi i'm daniel
00:03:57
butler and this is my vine ripened
00:03:59
co-host beaumont bacon hi daniel hello a
00:04:02
handcuffed prisoner had managed to get
00:04:04
away from an officer and fled the scene
00:04:06
the officer gave chase and followed the
00:04:07
guy for a few blocks into an alley
00:04:10
they do that criminals always seem to
00:04:11
find those back alleys
00:04:13
it's a natural homing instinct
00:04:16
deciding it was time to end the chase
00:04:17
the officer took his night stick and
00:04:19
threw it down at the goon's feet hoping
00:04:21
to trip him up the spiteful sprinter
00:04:24
laughed and watched as the night stick
00:04:26
soared by him and into a wall i bet he
00:04:28
wasn't laughing for long well you're
00:04:29
right because he was focusing so much of
00:04:31
his attention on the night stick that he
00:04:33
failed to see the van that he pulled
00:04:35
into the alley in front of him he hit
00:04:38
that van with full force and voila the
00:04:40
pursuit was over i bet the officer got
00:04:42
the last laugh
00:04:44
good for him well so did this counselor
00:04:47
at a correctional center one of his
00:04:49
inmates wrote a letter to his girlfriend
00:04:50
that said
00:04:51
dear becky i'll be on work detail in the
00:04:54
park this friday so leave the drugs and
00:04:56
beer by that big oak tree the guards are
00:04:58
so dang stupid here there's no way i'll
00:05:00
ever get caught love billy what a
00:05:03
touching letter well his brilliant plan
00:05:06
fell apart because instead of putting
00:05:08
the jail as the return address he sent
00:05:10
the letter to the jail where it wound up
00:05:12
on the warden's desk
00:05:14
i'm sure the warden passed the inmate
00:05:16
sentiments onto those stupid guards huh
00:05:19
which brings us to our vidiot of the
00:05:21
week let's try that again
00:05:25
from all the stories that we've received
00:05:27
this week this one was our favorite
00:05:29
a woman had just parked her car when she
00:05:31
was approached by a crook with a gun who
00:05:33
forced her out of the driver's seat and
00:05:34
demanded her keys
00:05:36
unfortunately when the goon jumped into
00:05:38
the car he realized that it was a stick
00:05:40
shift he only knew how to drive an
00:05:42
automatic
00:05:43
he got out of the car and told the woman
00:05:45
to get back in and drive him somewhere
00:05:47
so she got in locked the doors backed
00:05:50
out and drove away leaving the stunned
00:05:52
stick up artist in a cloud of dust much
00:05:55
like the contents of his head
00:05:57
dusty in there thank you
00:06:04
one would think that if you stole a
00:06:06
vehicle you would want to do as little
00:06:08
as possible to draw attention to
00:06:09
yourself
00:06:10
however this dumb criminal obviously
00:06:12
threw caution to the wind officers made
00:06:15
a rather unusual traffic stop one
00:06:17
afternoon in houston texas
00:06:19
a guy was clocked doing 90 miles per
00:06:21
hour on a motorcycle and not wearing the
00:06:24
required attire
00:06:26
it turned out that the motorcycle was
00:06:28
stolen and when the officers asked for
00:06:29
the driver's information he was at a
00:06:31
loss
00:06:32
he didn't have his wallet or any
00:06:34
identification or any clothes for that
00:06:37
matter
00:06:38
they quickly arrested our cool rider and
00:06:41
took him down to the station for fitting
00:06:43
into his new designer jail jeans and
00:06:45
some ointment for his
00:06:47
cheeks
00:06:49
[Music]
00:06:54
this next surveillance tape shows a
00:06:56
grumpy old man who picked a rather
00:06:58
disgusting way to make his mark on
00:07:00
society
00:07:01
unhappy with the way a local watch shop
00:07:03
had repaired his timepiece this
00:07:05
disgruntled grandpa decided to stop by
00:07:08
after hours and pay the store a visit
00:07:11
he also visited the shop owner's car
00:07:14
the shop owner promptly had the police
00:07:16
visit the salivating senior and have him
00:07:18
arrested for defacing public property
00:07:20
and drooling without a license
00:07:25
a sacramento officer was called to a
00:07:27
local motel to investigate the possible
00:07:29
theft of a ghetto blaster and the
00:07:31
suspect wished to lodge a complaint
00:07:34
officer chip dull drove up to the motel
00:07:36
parking lot and noticed something a
00:07:38
little out of the ordinary about the
00:07:40
victim and i'm talking to the guy and
00:07:42
the story doesn't make any sense
00:07:43
whatsoever but when i'm looking at him i
00:07:44
see some white powder around his nostril
00:07:47
of his nose
00:07:48
i asked him about his nose and he goes
00:07:50
well oh i just had a powdered donut
00:07:53
i'm thinking
00:07:54
well how come nothing around your mouth
00:07:58
and just just tell me your name
00:08:00
first of all take your hand out of your
00:08:01
pocket you know what's your last name
00:08:03
and he won't give me his name
00:08:05
and he won't take his hand out of his
00:08:06
pocket he has this blank stare looking
00:08:08
right past me i'm thinking oh
00:08:09
something's wrong here
00:08:13
all of a sudden he bolts off takes off
00:08:14
running
00:08:16
and after about 100 yards i catch up to
00:08:17
him and
00:08:18
handcuff him and all that and walking
00:08:19
back to the car and i search him he's
00:08:21
got a loaded handgun in his pocket
00:08:24
he's got a few grams of
00:08:27
methamphetamine in his pocket about 900
00:08:29
in cash
00:08:31
and i went back to his car where he was
00:08:33
looking for his id and so i searched the
00:08:35
same bags and i found a
00:08:37
about another three ounces of narcotics
00:08:39
and scale
00:08:41
and all this could have been avoided
00:08:44
because and he had no reason to call us
00:08:46
to begin with he had no crime
00:08:48
but he wanted to make a complaint and
00:08:50
because of his ignorance and again those
00:08:52
stupid pills kicked in
00:08:54
he got charged with nine different
00:08:56
felony charges and
00:08:57
went back to prison
00:09:04
you can take the man out of his business
00:09:06
but you can't take the business out of
00:09:08
the man as we'll see in this next story
00:09:11
an undercover cop had just cuffed a drug
00:09:13
dealer and was on his way back to his
00:09:15
cruiser when a car pulled up
00:09:19
hey man the top stop the cops going yet
00:09:21
ain't no cops around here really cool
00:09:23
listen
00:09:25
shut up don't say anything yeah
00:09:27
i got a party tonight i'm looking to
00:09:28
score some dope right now man i'm really
00:09:30
desperate the officer decided to play
00:09:33
along and use the dope that he had just
00:09:35
taken from his cuffed con to set the new
00:09:37
guy up even the detained dealer got
00:09:39
caught up in the game how's this oh let
00:09:41
me check this out
00:09:43
i'll take it for 50 bucks
00:09:45
no way man that's a hundred dollar bag
00:09:46
hundred dollars you really think so let
00:09:48
me check it out again how bad you want
00:09:50
it oh man i've been looking all over i
00:09:52
couldn't find any yeah 100 bucks man
00:09:54
okay hey
00:09:56
the way i do business i i need you to
00:09:58
shake my hand okay i shake hand with all
00:10:00
the people i do business with no problem
00:10:04
would you have a good party tonight huh
00:10:05
oh yeah i got a great part what what
00:10:07
what you doing there you go turn around
00:10:11
turn around
00:10:13
sealing the deal with a handshake the
00:10:15
officer took the yuppie and the drug
00:10:17
dealer down to the station
00:10:19
a yuppie and the drug dealer kind of
00:10:21
sounds like a new tv show doesn't it
00:10:25
[Music]
00:10:28
this guy in hollywood florida found out
00:10:30
the hard way that the element of
00:10:32
surprise is a situation that works well
00:10:34
for everyone not just dumb criminals
00:10:36
you can see that this convenience store
00:10:39
was having a slow night until this
00:10:41
gun-toting goon rushed in and demanded
00:10:43
the money from the clerk behind the
00:10:44
counter
00:10:45
he expected her to give him the money
00:10:47
and then make his clean getaway what he
00:10:49
didn't expect was the police officer who
00:10:52
just happened to be in the back of the
00:10:54
store doing a routine business check
00:10:56
hear him demand the money the cop
00:10:58
immediately identified himself and drew
00:11:00
his gun too
00:11:01
the surprised suspect immediately
00:11:04
surrendered and was quickly taken to
00:11:05
another counter to do his business the
00:11:07
booking counter
00:11:14
employees at a construction site in east
00:11:16
texas complained to their security
00:11:18
company because a variety of personal
00:11:20
items had been disappearing during the
00:11:22
night
00:11:23
one worker in particular was disturbed
00:11:25
about the loss of two gold coins that's
00:11:28
when the manager of the security company
00:11:30
realized that he might be able to help
00:11:32
he told the man that just two days ago
00:11:34
he had to fire a security guard and when
00:11:37
he did the guy said man i don't need
00:11:39
this job i got 80 000 worth of gold
00:11:41
coins right here these are your gold
00:11:43
coins yeah my gold coins
00:11:45
well needless to say the coins bought
00:11:47
him a one-way ticket straight to jail
00:11:51
several cops have realized that if you
00:11:53
ask a dumb criminal to confess they
00:11:55
usually won't but if you give them a
00:11:57
choice they will
00:11:59
a case in point from houston texas
00:12:01
we did a ring case we had 13 stolen
00:12:04
vehicles we got 12 of them back we had
00:12:05
one more to go
00:12:07
my new partner at the city were driving
00:12:09
up washington i said man there it is he
00:12:10
goes what there's that car we're looking
00:12:12
for
00:12:13
there's this monte carlo sitting there
00:12:14
reading we knew we had a picture of it
00:12:16
so we going over there and we sit up and
00:12:18
of course the car and nobody shows up
00:12:19
nobody shows up so we said well hell
00:12:21
let's go ahead and just pick it on up
00:12:22
the
00:12:23
owner of the car calls us up over the
00:12:25
city and says hey y'all took my car
00:12:27
yeah once you go ahead and bring your
00:12:28
paperwork and you know when you get a
00:12:30
statement from you
00:12:31
so he shows up his buddy brings him over
00:12:33
from the appliance place and i said
00:12:35
i'll walk out in the parking lot and see
00:12:37
what they pulled up in that car stolen
00:12:40
so we went ahead and i told the guy says
00:12:42
hey listen us we're doing free
00:12:43
inspections today why don't you go ahead
00:12:45
and pull your car around the back and
00:12:46
let's inspect it make sure it ain't
00:12:48
stolen
00:12:49
guy goes okay so we're putting it up on
00:12:50
the rack in the warehouse
00:12:52
i looked down there's a one of the
00:12:53
little old match boxes in there i said i
00:12:55
don't know what's in the match box
00:12:56
opening up some cocaine in there
00:12:58
so i walk in this man so i got some bad
00:13:00
news for you man it says
00:13:02
find this cocaine in the car says and uh
00:13:06
the car stolen he says man he says i
00:13:08
don't know nothing about that stolen car
00:13:09
he said now that cocaine's mine he says
00:13:11
but i don't know nothing about that
00:13:12
stolen car
00:13:14
matter of fact give me a confession i
00:13:16
mean give me a statement saying you know
00:13:17
he bought the cocaine and everything so
00:13:18
it was a slam dunk case after we got
00:13:20
done
00:13:28
who says that toys are only for children
00:13:31
this star trooper played a hunch and
00:13:32
beamed this dumb criminal off the
00:13:34
streets and into the brig
00:13:36
in sacramento california an officer made
00:13:38
first contact with a local drug dealer
00:13:41
that had managed up to that point to
00:13:42
elude the police
00:13:44
the cocky crackhead didn't seem
00:13:46
concerned until the logical law man
00:13:48
without saying a word reached into his
00:13:50
pocket produced an electronic toy that
00:13:52
he had recently purchased and scanned
00:13:55
the confused con
00:13:57
what are you doing officer ah it's my
00:13:59
cocaine detector hold still let me check
00:14:14
this is my cocaine detector who tells me
00:14:16
you got cocaine on you
00:14:20
works pretty good doesn't it
00:14:22
the officer's hunch was right and the
00:14:24
frustrated ferengi immediately forked
00:14:26
over the cocaine that he had in his
00:14:28
pocket and was put on the next
00:14:30
shuttlecraft bound for the uss
00:14:32
penitentiary warped factor 10.

a gang member in murray utah got his
00:14:42
revenge on a rival member's car and also
00:14:44
got caught on tape
00:14:46
he had spotted the rival car in a
00:14:48
service station repair lot and decided
00:14:50
to take out his frustrations on the car
00:14:52
he proceeded to jump up and down on the
00:14:55
roof and hood break all the windows and
00:14:57
slash all of the tires
00:14:59
he left very little behind for the
00:15:01
police to work with except for the
00:15:04
surveillance tape and his wallet
00:15:06
evidently while doing his moronic
00:15:08
macarena his wallet fell out of his
00:15:10
pants and onto the ground
00:15:12
so with his help police were able to
00:15:14
catch our little dirty dancer a few
00:15:16
hours later as he was cooling his heels
00:15:19
at home

00:15:25
a smart crime is hard to find but
00:15:27
there's no shortage of dumb criminals
00:15:29
see you next week on america's dumbest
00:15:32
criminals
00:15:33
on the next episode of america's dumbest
00:15:35
criminal
00:15:37
a careless criminal stops the wrong
00:15:39
crustacean down his pants
00:15:42
a parachuter runs into a little
00:15:44
technical difficulty
00:15:46
a confused crook runs right into the
00:15:49
arms of the law he's going to come get
00:15:51
in with you
00:15:55
an escaped khan forgets his glasses
00:15:58
the laughs just keep coming on the next
00:16:00
episode of america's dumbest criminals
00:16:03
and i don't know if you're familiar with
00:16:04
houston or not but they have a lot of
00:16:07
fairies so one night we got a call of a
00:16:09
woman clean clinging to the back of the
00:16:11
ferry and
00:16:13
she was clinging to the back of the
00:16:14
ferry that was was not in operation
00:16:16
screaming for help
00:16:18
and uh she said what happened and she
00:16:20
says well she says i pulled was coming
00:16:22
down southbound on crosby lynchburg and
00:16:24
she says
00:16:25
and i stopped for the railroad crossing
00:16:26
she says the arms were dying the lights
00:16:28
were going the lights were flashing she
00:16:30
says
00:16:31
but i looked both ways and didn't see
00:16:33
anything so she said she cut the barrier
00:16:35
because there obviously wasn't a train
00:16:36
coming what she did is she drove right
00:16:38
off the lane the ramp onto the ferry
00:16:40
straight into the water
00:16:42
yes one time it was on days
00:16:46
they pulled out a priority one
00:16:48
man screaming for help in his backyard
00:16:50
just before we had official training
00:16:52
officer i was training a rookie and i
00:16:54
said well come on let's go ahead and get
00:16:55
it you know we need to get on over there
00:16:56
we weren't probably 10 blocks away from
00:16:59
it so we jump in the old car and we
00:17:00
mainly hammered on over them
00:17:02
all the citizens are out front they flag
00:17:04
us on dinosaurs there's a guy screaming
00:17:06
for help in the backyard really loud he
00:17:08
needs help
00:17:09
so i said okay so
00:17:11
we the the gates locked so we go into
00:17:13
the gate the house next to it they got
00:17:16
one of them security fences on eight
00:17:17
foot of security fence
00:17:19
so i look on over it and i don't see
00:17:21
nothing nobody in the backyard you know
00:17:23
except the guy's got a goat
00:17:25
and it's got damn horns and a goat
00:17:27
that's what happened send that old
00:17:28
rookie on over to make sure the coast is
00:17:30
clear you know when i tell the old
00:17:32
rookie i said hey i got you covered
00:17:34
we're up in a tree i said i got you
00:17:35
covered go ahead jump the fence and see
00:17:37
if you can find an open window so make
00:17:39
sure nothing happens to the goat
00:17:42
so he jumps the fence and first window
00:17:44
he goes to it's unlocked it's all right
00:17:46
so you know he opens up the window i
00:17:48
said go inside and watch me so i jumped
00:17:51
the fence and went inside the open with
00:17:53
it so we're sitting there we're trying
00:17:54
to clear the house
00:18:01
[Applause]
00:18:04
screaming for help
00:18:06
there ain't no man screaming for help
00:18:07
it's just goat sounding like he's you
00:18:09
know
00:18:09
i guess that's the way goats taught
00:18:12
so i said well we look at each other so
00:18:13
we jump back over the bench so i tell
00:18:15
the people hey you know there's a goat
00:18:16
in that guy's backyard oh there ain't no
00:18:18
gold in the backyard us oh yeah there is
00:18:20
so you know we we cleared a call
00:18:23
so uh since the dispatcher screened the
00:18:25
call so well we went back in service and
00:18:27
i said well clean
00:18:29
clear of the call is a man screaming for
00:18:31
help or man screaming for help do a goat
00:18:34
and heat and show us back in
00:18:36
there
00:18:38
so the dispatcher thought that was real
00:18:39
funny because the thing was radio signs
00:18:42
for about five minutes
00:18:48
[Music]
00:18:59
you
