Unsolved Mysteries with Dennis Farina - Season 4, Episode 17

March 09, 2017 / 42:53

This episode of Unsolved Mysteries covers three cases: the mysterious death of Natasha Jennings, a UFO sighting in West Carlton, Ontario, and the murder of Thomas Hotard and the disappearance of Audrey Mo.

The first case focuses on 16-year-old Natasha Jennings, who was found dead in her father's home in Carson City, Nevada. The investigation revealed three theories regarding her death: drug overdose, sexual assault, or foul play. Despite the autopsy showing no signs of trauma or drug residue, the mystery remains unsolved.

Next, the episode features a UFO sighting reported by Diane Lack in West Carlton, Ontario. She described seeing flames and a hovering ship with blue lights. A videotape later surfaced, showing similar phenomena, but the authenticity of the tape and the identity of the sender, known as Guardian, remain unclear.

The final case recounts the murder of Thomas Hotard in Louisiana and the disappearance of his lover, Audrey Mo. After Hotard was found shot dead in his car, Audrey vanished. A deathbed confession years later implicated a man named Ernest Acosta, who claimed his partner killed both Hotard and Mo, but doubts linger about the truth of his confession.

These cases highlight unresolved mysteries and the search for answers in tragic circumstances.

TL;DR

Three unsolved mysteries: Natasha Jennings' death, a UFO sighting, and the murder of Thomas Hotard with Audrey Mo's disappearance.

Carson City
00:01:34
Nevada Sandra Jennings receives an
00:01:37
urgent call from her brother Clarence oh
00:01:39
hi Clarence Clarence is trying to locate
00:01:41
his 16-year-old daughter Natasha who was
00:01:44
visiting from California
00:01:47
Natasha I had called home my sister
00:01:50
answered the phone I asked her if TSH
00:01:52
was home she set the phone down she
00:01:54
peaked out the back door didn't see her
00:01:57
so she went upstairs oh my God
00:02:02
are
00:02:05
Natasha that's when I heard her
00:02:07
scream Clarence I found Natasha she's on
00:02:10
the floor she's not breathing I told her
00:02:13
we'll hang up right now call 911 I'm on
00:02:15
my way a
00:02:19
call Natasha Jennings was already dead
00:02:22
when the paramedics arrived ultimately
00:02:24
three theories about the cause of her
00:02:26
death would emerge drug abuse sexual
00:02:29
assault and Foul Play but to this day
00:02:33
how Natasha Jennings died remains a
00:02:37
mystery when Natasha Jennings was very
00:02:39
young her parents divorced Natasha lived
00:02:42
with her mother in Southern California
00:02:45
but by the time she was 16 Natasha
00:02:48
wanted to reconnect with her father
00:02:50
Clarence she had hoped an extended visit
00:02:53
to his home in NADA would Bridge the
00:02:55
years of separation I told her know it
00:02:57
first
00:03:00
but then I I didn't want to put her in
00:03:01
the middle of you know our
00:03:04
disagreements what I feel towards her
00:03:06
father is my own business and um it
00:03:09
doesn't involve her that is her father
00:03:12
Sandra Natasha's aunt was the last
00:03:14
person to see Natasha alive they ate
00:03:17
lunch together at around
00:03:19
1:00 later that afternoon Clarence
00:03:22
placed several cause to his daughter hey
00:03:25
TSH it's me dad still trying to find you
00:03:27
he became more and more worried when he
00:03:30
couldn't reach
00:03:32
her when police arrived at the scene
00:03:35
they found Natasha as her aunt had found
00:03:38
her slumped across the bedroom floor her
00:03:41
hair was damp as if she had taken a
00:03:43
shower and an electric fan lay on top of
00:03:47
her anytime you have a a young
00:03:50
individual that's deceased for no
00:03:53
specific apparent cause or Reason uh
00:03:57
it's suspicious it's treated as a
00:03:58
homicide until such time as we can shift
00:04:01
gears and and say that it's something
00:04:05
else there were no signs of trauma still
00:04:08
investigators turned her attention to a
00:04:10
young man Natasha had become close to
00:04:14
we'll call him Chris allegations had
00:04:16
been raised that Chris sexually
00:04:19
assaulted her just days before guys do
00:04:23
you know this the investigation revealed
00:04:25
that Natasha and Chris went to a party
00:04:27
together a few nights before she died
00:04:30
those who had been drinking were invited
00:04:32
to wait until morning to drive home no
00:04:35
one saw what Natasha and Chris did the
00:04:37
rest of the
00:04:43
night good morning good morning take
00:04:46
care okay okay according to ingred kotar
00:04:50
a friend in California a confused and
00:04:52
traumatized Natasha called the following
00:04:55
morning to tell her something had
00:04:57
happened after the party what's up
00:05:01
Natasha told me she had blacked
00:05:04
out from she was drinking and she had
00:05:06
blacked out and that Chris had uh raped
00:05:10
her do you know where Natasha lives I
00:05:13
don't remember Chris was interrogated
00:05:16
but detectives concluded that whatever
00:05:19
happened between him and Tasha could not
00:05:21
be considered
00:05:23
criminal the autopsy report was
00:05:25
conclusive that that she was not
00:05:28
sexually assaulted
00:05:31
as soon as Natasha's mother learned
00:05:32
about her daughter's death she rushed to
00:05:35
Carson
00:05:36
City and I spoke with everybody that she
00:05:41
was around I went to places that she had
00:05:45
been I handed out flyers th I mean
00:05:49
thousands upon thousands upon
00:05:51
thousands and then one day a woman
00:05:54
approached her at a shopping center with
00:05:56
some new
00:05:58
information oh I was at the shopping
00:06:00
center passing out flyers when a woman
00:06:02
approached me what is
00:06:03
it daughter what do you know she was
00:06:06
very scared desperate please help me
00:06:08
anything that you know she was very uh
00:06:10
skittish and watching over her shoulder
00:06:12
and and uh she says um I know what
00:06:16
happened to your daughter she wrote a
00:06:18
telephone down she goes here she goes
00:06:19
call
00:06:20
me the woman claimed that Natasha's
00:06:23
father Clarence was a drug informant for
00:06:26
local law enforcement she said his C had
00:06:29
been blown and that drug dealers killed
00:06:32
Natasha in retaliation my ex-wife had
00:06:35
asked me is there any possibility that
00:06:38
uh they might have had something to do
00:06:40
with it in retaliation for my being an
00:06:43
informant for the police
00:06:45
department
00:06:47
and my jaw dropped I I've never never
00:06:51
been an informant for the police
00:06:53
department Natasha's relatives
00:06:55
confronted one of the Carson City
00:06:57
detectives assigned to Natasha
00:07:01
and we asked him if you know if he was
00:07:04
aware that Clarence was uh or Natasha's
00:07:07
father was a an informant you know and
00:07:10
he didn't deny it at all he said yes he
00:07:13
was aware of it I can say based upon our
00:07:16
records CL JS was
00:07:19
not nor was he ever a documented
00:07:21
informant for either
00:07:23
agency how long have you known Natasha
00:07:25
Jennings but soon another theory emerged
00:07:30
do you ever see Natasha use any kind of
00:07:32
drugs no TSH would never use drugs
00:07:35
investigators thought that Natasha might
00:07:38
have overdosed on
00:07:41
drugs a scrap of plastic recovered on a
00:07:44
landing outside Natasha's bedroom
00:07:47
contained traces of speed and cocaine
00:07:50
and there was a small amount of the
00:07:53
drugs in her nose the cocaine and
00:07:56
methamphetamine can lead to increased
00:07:59
body
00:08:00
temperature
00:08:02
hyperthermia I think she probably took a
00:08:04
bath to cool down and she was then in
00:08:07
the process of drying her hair when she
00:08:09
collapsed most likely a
00:08:14
spasm is they said she was on a 5-day
00:08:17
drunk and drinking sex
00:08:21
party and I was like
00:08:23
uh-uh now I just I know my
00:08:27
daughter she wouldn't have used
00:08:30
during the autopsy the medical examiner
00:08:33
found no drug residue in Natasha's
00:08:36
system if you snort cocaine on Monday
00:08:40
and you're deceased on
00:08:42
Friday and we do a
00:08:44
toxicology we may find remnants of the
00:08:47
drug perhaps in your nose or or maybe in
00:08:49
an injection point or something like
00:08:50
that but the actual toxicology of your
00:08:54
blood and urine and whatnot may may
00:08:57
produce a zero uh
00:09:00
uh am out today the investigation has
00:09:04
hit a dead
00:09:05
end all I wanted was
00:09:08
answers for somebody to talk to me and
00:09:10
explain to me what's been going on with
00:09:11
her but nobody will nobody
00:09:14
has the unfortunate part
00:09:17
is I don't have an answer for the
00:09:20
mother this girl was 16 years old she
00:09:23
had her entire life ahead of her and we
00:09:26
don't have any
00:09:28
answers we don't have the bottom
00:09:30
[Music]
00:09:32
line I didn't want her to
00:09:34
go and I was kind of mad at myself
00:09:38
because I had felt
00:09:40
it and didn't take heed to those
00:09:44
emotions I had actually sent her a note
00:09:46
telling her that I wanted to come home
00:09:49
she didn't make it
00:09:51
back officially the investigation into
00:09:54
the death of Natasha Jennings is still
00:09:56
open if you have any information

00:10:06
next some experts claim that this is a
00:10:09
videotape of a UFO Skeptics are not
00:10:22
convinced if you saw a UFO you might
00:10:25
worry that you were going crazy but what
00:10:28
if someone then showed you a videotape
00:10:31
of exactly what you had seen well it
00:10:34
might just convince you that you weren't
00:10:36
going crazy after
00:10:39
all West Carlton Ontario
00:10:43
Canada it was around 10 p.m Diane lack
00:10:47
had just put her children to bed and her
00:10:49
husband was out running an errand when
00:10:51
the dogs began to
00:10:54
[Music]
00:10:57
help I walk right to the window and I
00:11:01
saw flames right on the back of the
00:11:04
field extremely red flames and lots of
00:11:08
smoke it didn't look like a fire I know
00:11:11
what a fire looks like when you start a
00:11:13
fire out there and the grass was very
00:11:15
dry so if you start the fire you will
00:11:17
see it moving whether this way or closer
00:11:19
to the woods and the fire was standing
00:11:21
on one spot
00:11:22
[Music]
00:11:23
only I saw a ship coming down close to
00:11:27
the flames right on top of the ship I
00:11:31
saw a a blue flashing light and another
00:11:34
light was on the bottom very bright I
00:11:37
didn't know what to
00:11:39
do I was looking at it about 10 minutes
00:11:42
or
00:11:43
so and then the ship went a little bit
00:11:46
back over the trees and it disappeared I
00:11:49
saw all the Flames turn out at the same
00:11:53
time I don't think I'd like to see it
00:11:55
again it's very scary I lived here for
00:11:58
many many years and I have never been so
00:11:59
scared in my
00:12:01
life it did enter my my mind to phone
00:12:04
the police when this was all over I came
00:12:07
to the telephone but I said what am I
00:12:09
going to tell him I'm going to tell him
00:12:10
I have seen flares out there at 10:00 or
00:12:13
past 10:00 at night and there was a ship
00:12:16
up there who is going to say okay Diane
00:12:19
that's fine we're coming over so I I
00:12:22
that's why I didn't I didn't
00:12:26
call according to Diane 10 minutes after
00:12:29
of the lights abruptly blinked out a
00:12:31
helicopter appeared it flew low to the
00:12:34
ground over the field where Diane had
00:12:36
seen the Unexplained lights after
00:12:39
crisscrossing the area it passed over
00:12:41
Diane's house and disappeared into the
00:12:48
night the next morning Diane explored
00:12:51
the empty fields around her house
00:12:53
searching for evidence of the previous
00:12:56
night's
00:12:57
events I search everything there was no
00:13:00
marks there was no spots there was no
00:13:02
matches there was just nothing the only
00:13:06
person I told is my mom and my husband
00:13:09
it kind of bothered me inside for a long
00:13:11
long time not to come up forward and say
00:13:13
it to um to anybody but when I went when
00:13:17
I went out on the field and I could not
00:13:19
find anything who is going to believe me
00:13:21
that this really happened so I kept it
00:13:24
to
00:13:26
myself 6 months after Dian hands
00:13:29
encounter a package from Canada arrived
00:13:32
at the office of Bob exler one of the
00:13:34
foremost UFO researchers at the time
00:13:37
these incidents were
00:13:40
reported the package had no return
00:13:43
address inside were secret military
00:13:46
documents pictures a map and a videotape
00:13:49
of the incident at West
00:13:52
Carlton on the label uh was the name
00:13:55
guardian and it was accompanied by a
00:13:58
fingerprint
00:14:00
Guardian to me was was an enigma
00:14:02
certainly nothing I had heard about in
00:14:04
the UFO literature uh so uh it was a it
00:14:07
was a mystery starting from
00:14:11
scratch at the time exler was unaware of
00:14:14
Dian sighting but he would later find
00:14:17
that the videotape accurately showed
00:14:20
what she had reported seeing the tape
00:14:23
showed a cluster of brightly burning red
00:14:25
Flames similar to flares to their right
00:14:29
hovered a dark dislike object emitting a
00:14:32
bright glow from its Underside the
00:14:35
object was capped by a rapidly strobing
00:14:38
blue light I got a sense initially that
00:14:42
this was a real event occurring in a
00:14:44
field as opposed to some prop set up in
00:14:46
a room
00:14:47
somewhere I kind of had a sense I might
00:14:50
be dealing with something that was
00:14:52
potentially authentic
00:14:55
here the map that was included in the
00:14:57
package directed to West Carlton Ontario
00:15:01
he went there with UFO researcher Graham
00:15:07
Lightfoot can you tell us exactly what
00:15:10
you saw that night when they interviewed
00:15:12
Diane she described exactly what was in
00:15:15
the guardian video tape yes I've seen a
00:15:18
bright light uh she had not seen a tape
00:15:21
she had no idea what we knew and yet she
00:15:24
was able to describe things that we
00:15:26
already knew from the tape
00:15:31
it's one of the clearest videos I've
00:15:33
seen that show a structured object Dr
00:15:36
Bruce macabe a US Navy physicist and
00:15:39
photo analyst has studied UFOs for years
00:15:44
and here's the Beacon Light the blue
00:15:46
light evidently a reflection down here
00:15:48
on the body of the craft the outline of
00:15:50
the object itself that you can see some
00:15:52
sort of dark lines that appear uh some
00:15:55
brightness structure indicating
00:15:56
something generating light is hanging
00:15:59
down below the object it's generating
00:16:00
green light as well as blue light
00:16:02
probably there is other structure in
00:16:04
there which however the glare from this
00:16:06
bright light is blurring out Dr mcabe
00:16:09
believes that the tape is not a
00:16:13
fraud the section of the video which
00:16:15
shows the object is sort of appearing
00:16:18
over a a rise uh is quite convincing to
00:16:22
me as a would be what you would expect
00:16:24
if somebody were in the field trying to
00:16:26
get closer to it and
00:16:29
not knowing how close he could get and
00:16:32
so he turns on his camera while he's
00:16:34
walking he knows he's going to come up
00:16:36
over a rise and see it and you can see
00:16:37
in the video farther and farther down
00:16:39
until you see the uh the whole
00:16:41
device suddenly the light coming towards
00:16:44
him gets brighter and brighter you get a
00:16:45
great big diffuse reflection or image in
00:16:48
the camera which suggests to me that uh
00:16:50
this object shined a beam a blue beam
00:16:53
right at him Dr mcabe estimates the
00:16:56
object to be 20 to 30 ft in diameter too
00:17:00
big to be a horse it appeared to be so
00:17:04
large that it would not be logical to
00:17:07
try to set all this up at night under
00:17:10
Darkness there would have been evidence
00:17:12
during the day of movement of generators
00:17:14
of somebody hauling cables maybe a big
00:17:18
apparatus or something that they would
00:17:20
have had to bring in there uh for for
00:17:22
for that night uh clearly if there was a
00:17:25
hoax
00:17:27
involved Diane would have seen evidence
00:17:29
of it in
00:17:30
[Music]
00:17:31
advance audio analysis of the tape
00:17:34
revealed only the distant barking of
00:17:36
dogs probably
00:17:42
Diane's the craft itself seemed to be
00:17:45
silent there was no audible trace of
00:17:48
power generators which if the object was
00:17:51
staged would be necessary to run its
00:17:53
massive
00:17:55
lights Dr Robert Nathan of NASA's jet
00:17:58
propulsion laboratory reviewed the tape
00:18:00
in a non-official capacity he could not
00:18:04
explain the images or dismiss the tape
00:18:07
as a
00:18:09
hoax after the incident low-flying
00:18:12
helicopters cruised over West Carlton on
00:18:15
a regular basis the helicopters were
00:18:18
black green or maroon in color they were
00:18:21
unmarked and had Darkly tened Windows
00:18:24
the Canadian military denies any
00:18:27
involvement when where the helicopters
00:18:29
came from or what they were searching
00:18:31
for remains of
00:18:34
mystery the helicopters that are used in
00:18:38
this area of Canada do not fly low in
00:18:44
that
00:18:45
area there are no requirements for our
00:18:48
military helicopters to go and fly near
00:18:50
private citizens property like
00:18:56
that the key to the entire incident lies
00:18:59
with the person using the name Guardian
00:19:03
I think Guardian has to be connected to
00:19:05
the event in some way I don't see any
00:19:09
way Guardian could have just happened
00:19:12
onto this I don't see Guardian as a UFO
00:19:16
investigator Guardian is much more
00:19:18
involved in this than the evidence even
00:19:21
suggests in my
00:19:27
opinion what's supposed military
00:19:30
documents that arrived with the
00:19:31
videotape rais serious questions about
00:19:34
Guardians credibility the papers allege
00:19:37
far-reaching
00:19:39
conspiracies involving UFOs red China
00:19:43
and nuclear
00:19:44
weapons there was some question
00:19:46
immediately with regard to the
00:19:48
authenticity of the documentation it
00:19:50
didn't look like it was a a typical
00:19:52
government document even Canadian
00:19:54
government documents of which I had no
00:19:56
familiarity at the time this document is
00:19:59
clearly a fabrication uh there are way
00:20:01
too many errors uh in the document to
00:20:04
make it authentic someone with very
00:20:07
little effort could have come a lot
00:20:09
closer than
00:20:11
this included on the videotape are
00:20:14
images which Guardian claimed show an
00:20:17
alien
00:20:18
being clearly this could have been
00:20:21
someone dressed up in a costume but that
00:20:24
posed a major question if in fact the
00:20:27
video image of the disc were authentic
00:20:31
why would anyone uh contaminate such an
00:20:35
extraordinary event with uh fake images
00:20:38
of of alien
00:20:41
creatures although the video arrived
00:20:43
with questionable material many experts
00:20:46
believe that the events shown on the
00:20:48
tape did indeed take
00:20:53
place what really happened in the fields
00:20:56
of West Carlton well over only Guardian
00:20:59
can answer that
00:21:01
question this is either an extraordinary
00:21:04
top secret flying vehicle of somebody's
00:21:08
government or it is of a non-human
00:21:16
origin having no contact with Guardian
00:21:19
is probably the biggest frustration to
00:21:21
an investigation like this we don't know
00:21:23
who Guardian is what Guardian
00:21:26
represents uh we don't know if Guardian
00:21:29
was sent or went on his
00:21:32
own we have no idea what the the
00:21:36
solutions to many of these Mysteries are
00:21:38
going to be we may never
00:21:41
know if you are guardian or if you have

might be please contact us at

romance end it in
00:22:11
Murder forer Beach
00:22:15
Louisiana on a cold November morning in
00:22:18
1956 a hunter and his son make a Grizzly
00:22:23
Discovery a Man Lies in the front seat
00:22:25
of a car dead from a single gunshot
00:22:29
the victim is identified as Thomas
00:22:31
hotard a 46-year-old engineer from
00:22:34
nearby
00:22:35
laaz authorities will later determine
00:22:38
that a woman had been with him
00:22:40
31-year-old Audrey Mo a divorced mother
00:22:44
of three Audrey was nowhere to be
00:22:49
found 3 months before this happened my
00:22:52
mother told my grandmother that if
00:22:54
anything happens to me take the kids and
00:22:56
get as far away from here as possible
00:22:58
possible why would a 30-year-old 31y old
00:23:01
woman in
00:23:03
1956 in a environmentally crime Fe free
00:23:07
area say
00:23:09
it when it made the headlines the case
00:23:11
of Thomas hotard and odd remote became
00:23:14
one of the most Sensational stories in
00:23:17
the country but the Louisiana swamps
00:23:20
won't give up their secret even today
00:23:23
nobody knows what really
00:23:27
happened the news paper obituaries in
00:23:30
1956 described Thomas hotard as a
00:23:33
hardworking Family Man active in the
00:23:35
church and with the Boy Scouts he worked
00:23:38
for a local Chemical Company and it was
00:23:41
there that he met Audrey
00:23:45
Mo Audrey was a recently divorced mother
00:23:48
15 years younger than
00:23:51
Thomas in addition to their work the two
00:23:54
shared an interest in scouting and were
00:23:56
often seen together in town organiz
00:23:58
izing their troops
00:24:01
activities my mother was a woman that
00:24:04
was way ahead of her time she was a
00:24:05
single parent in
00:24:08
56 and she was a kind of woman that was
00:24:12
very loving very
00:24:13
giving perhaps she was the best friend I
00:24:15
ever
00:24:17
had Thomas was married but he and Audrey
00:24:20
fell in love their risky Affair was a
00:24:23
dark
00:24:24
secret Audrey told her family that she
00:24:27
had to work every Saturday but it was a
00:24:30
lie for 2 years Thomas told his wife
00:24:33
that he too was working on Saturdays
00:24:36
neither family knew that Thomas and
00:24:38
Audrey spent these stolen days together
00:24:43
took me forever to get the baby to sleep
00:24:45
we used to go on picnics together he
00:24:46
taught me how to develop film was there
00:24:48
on my birthdays I thought they were
00:24:50
friends I didn't realized they were
00:24:52
lovers um I found out later when I read
00:24:55
the newspaper accounts I just thought
00:24:57
they were friends

00:25:00
on Saturday November 25th Thomas and
00:25:03
Audrey met in L plaz around 7:30 a.m.
00:25:06
they then drove to the edge of Lake
00:25:14
ponr ironically that Saturday was
00:25:17
Audrey's birthday a special day that
00:25:20
would end in
00:25:22
tragedy police estimated by morning's in
00:25:25
Thomas hotard had been shot to death and
00:25:28
OD remote had vanished
00:25:35
forever when the hunter made his Grim
00:25:37
discovery that next morning he went
00:25:39
straight to sheriff Percy abar who was
00:25:42
the first to arve at the
00:25:45
scene Thomas had been killed by a single
00:25:48
shot from a 16 gauge shotgun fired at
00:25:50
Point Blank Range through the side
00:25:55
window once Sheriff AAR began to
00:25:57
investigate at the crime scene he made
00:26:00
some unusual
00:26:02
discoveries scattered on the ground were
00:26:04
the partial contents of a woman's purse
00:26:07
they were later identified as
00:26:09
Audrey's inside the car Sheriff abar
00:26:13
found the car keys still in the ignition
00:26:15
and women's clothes crumpled on the
00:26:18
floor from the articles of clothing that
00:26:20
were found in a car the only she could
00:26:22
have been wearing was a bra and a slip
00:26:25
her sweater her underwear her stockings
00:26:27
her uh shoes skirt all of that was in
00:26:30
the car the car had the bed made down in
00:26:33
it in other words it was one of those
00:26:34
old nashes that had a bed that could be
00:26:36
Fold It Down um the evidence indicates
00:26:39
that they were probably in the act of
00:26:42
making love when the murder
00:26:46
occurred it looked like Audrey had tried
00:26:49
to escape spilling the contents of her
00:26:51
purse in the process 50 yard from hot
00:26:54
tart's car Aber found Footprints made by
00:26:57
small bare feet just behind them was the
00:27:02
print of a man's heavy boot 5 ft away it
00:27:06
appeared a scuffle had taken place and a
00:27:08
set of car keys was
00:27:14
discovered that evening Sheriff abar
00:27:16
located Audrey's car parked next to the
00:27:18
cafe where she had met hotar the keys
00:27:22
found at the crime scene fit the
00:27:24
ignition
00:27:32
everybody was buzzing was talking about
00:27:34
it they all had their own theory of what
00:27:37
happened they all had idea of who could
00:27:39
have committed the murder they all had
00:27:41
an idea of where Audrey Mo was and they
00:27:45
all wanted to help the sheriff because
00:27:47
they saw a woman answering that
00:27:49
description going door too and all kinds
00:27:52
of confusion believe me confusion Reigns
00:27:54
Supreme about that time
00:28:01
2 weeks after her disappearance Audrey's
00:28:03
former mother-in-law received the
00:28:05
strange phone call hello Mom Audrey Mom
00:28:12
I'm in trouble Audrey is that you I need
00:28:15
help
00:28:16
Audrey Audrey
00:28:20
Audrey then a waitress in New Orleans
00:28:22
reported that she had seen Audrey in her
00:28:24
restaurant around the same time that Mrs
00:28:27
Mo received received the phone call was
00:28:29
there anything else h no the waitress
00:28:32
said that she recognized Audrey from
00:28:34
seeing her picture in the paper Audrey
00:28:37
appeared to be very tired and she left
00:28:39
the restaurant when she realized that
00:28:41
the waitress was watching her this was
00:28:45
the last reported sighting of Audrey
00:28:51
mot next a surprising deathbed
00:28:55
confession reveals the details of what
00:28:58
happened to Thomas hotard and Audrey
00:29:07
moot in
00:29:09
1956 two Hunters stumbled upon a
00:29:12
gruesome crime scene in an isolated area
00:29:15
of
00:29:18
Louisiana Thomas hotard had been killed
00:29:21
by a gunshot blast his lover Audrey Mo
00:29:25
was nowhere to be found
00:29:28
investigators had no leads and the case
00:29:31
went
00:29:36
cold as the years went by this
00:29:39
Sensational story slipped from the
00:29:41
headlines and then more than 20 years
00:29:43
later a dying man told his family that
00:29:47
he knew what happened to Audrey and
00:29:49
Thomas the question remains was he
00:29:53
telling the
00:29:55
truth you remember that hotard fellow
00:29:58
got killed in the swamp but ain't
00:30:00
nothing in that swamp goes on what I
00:30:02
don't know just months before he died
00:30:05
Ernest aosta claimed that his common law
00:30:08
wife Caroline schleser murdered Thomas
00:30:11
hotard and Audrey Mo he said that he
00:30:15
knew this because he helped dispose of
00:30:18
Audrey's body Caroline died in 1979 and
00:30:22
it was Caroline what shot both those two
00:30:31
Ernest and Caroline lived less than a
00:30:33
mile from the murder
00:30:35
site aosta was known to sit in his front
00:30:38
yard and take pot shots at anyone who
00:30:42
came close to his
00:30:45
house my father was a very mean
00:30:49
person he would grab the gun show it to
00:30:53
you and then tell you what the hell you
00:30:56
want and then if he didn't like what you
00:31:00
wanted or what you said he would tell
00:31:03
you hit the road
00:31:06
Jack Caroline was in the same
00:31:12
manner she slept with a gun underneath
00:31:15
her pillar at all
00:31:20
times Ernest said that Thomas and Audrey
00:31:23
came to his house at least two
00:31:26
times they were there again the evening
00:31:28
before Thomas's body was found they
00:31:31
argued with Caroline but no one knows
00:31:35
why my father said that they knew
00:31:38
something about Mrs Caroline Slusher
00:31:43
what you want here hot Todd what they
00:31:44
knew I do not know all right make sure
00:31:47
this is the last time boy come
00:31:50
on and you better watch your maners and
00:31:53
don't talk that trash talk in my house
00:31:55
Ernest says that he was away when Audrey
00:31:57
and Thomas arrived but he rushed home
00:32:00
after Caroline phoned
00:32:07
him according to Ernest Caroline had
00:32:10
killed Thomas and Audrey he claimed that
00:32:13
he and the neighbor took Thomas's body
00:32:15
to the site where it would later be
00:32:17
found and then they tied Audrey's body
00:32:20
to an old Civil War Cannon and dumped it
00:32:24
into the
00:32:25
swamp but to Earnest a Costa's daughter
00:32:28
Marvel the details just didn't add on I
00:32:32
told him I said Daddy how could you all
00:32:35
have killed uh Mrs Moz and Mr hotard
00:32:39
because Mr hotard was killed in the car
00:32:43
he said believe what you want to
00:32:46
believe I'm telling you what
00:32:50
happened Ernest acosta's daughter is not
00:32:53
the only one who doubted the
00:32:55
story Deputy Wayne Norwood believes the
00:32:59
real killer wasn't Caroline it was
00:33:02
Ernest
00:33:04
aosta I think that uh this was his way
00:33:08
of telling what had happened but not
00:33:11
letting the kids know that he actually
00:33:13
did the
00:33:17
murder my theory is that he had been
00:33:21
watching them and this particular time
00:33:23
that that he was watching them and uh
00:33:26
probably got excited I think it was a uh

crime there were no tire marks according
00:33:54
to the
00:33:56
investigation and uh
00:33:58
he only had to to take her about a mile
00:34:00
to the house so this would be why there
00:34:03
was no tracks and a quick
00:34:09
disappearance the scene of the crime has
00:34:11
changed
00:34:12
considerably the actual spot where
00:34:14
Thomas hotar died is now 100 yd offshore
00:34:19
why he was killed remains a mystery and
00:34:22
AUD remote her fate remains hidden in
00:34:26
the murky swaps surrounding late pona
00:34:30
train I think it's always going to be in
00:34:34
the back of my mind in in my
00:34:37
heart to want to know what
00:34:44
happened I hope that whatever happened
00:34:49
that it was quick that she didn't suffer
00:34:53
that she wasn't put through a

lot but I need to

know next a man charged with DUI
00:35:05
manslaughter is on the run until our
00:35:08
viewers turn them
00:35:19
in Davenport
00:35:22
Florida when John Constable and his wife
00:35:25
Virginia retired they look forward to
00:35:27
visits with their only daughter Linda
00:35:30
who lived 200 M north of them in
00:35:32
Jacksonville she's all excited one
00:35:35
morning they set out on a road trip to
00:35:37
see
00:35:38
him that same morning James White got
00:35:41
behind the wheel of his pickup truck
00:35:43
white a house painter and a handyman had
00:35:46
a long history of drunk driving arrests

[Applause]
00:36:06
John conable was pronounced dead at the
00:36:08
scene his wife Virginia died an hour
00:36:11
later from massive internal
00:36:14
injuries the Florida highway patrol
00:36:16
officer said that there had been an
00:36:18
automobile accident and there was a
00:36:22
fatality I just
00:36:25
remember asking which one
00:36:29
I never dreamed it would have been both
00:36:31
of
00:36:31
them white was transported to a nearby
00:36:34
hospital he had a fractured jaw a broken
00:36:37
ankle and three broken ribs tests
00:36:40
revealed that at the time of the crash
00:36:42
White's blood alcohol content was twice
00:36:46
Florida's legal
00:36:48
limit white was charged with 2 counts of
00:36:50
DUI manslaughter and one count of
00:36:53
driving under the influence
00:36:57
but just 3 days after the crash white
00:37:00
assisted by his relatives left the
00:37:03
hospital and
00:37:09
disappeared

update Burlington
00:37:16
Vermont James White has been arrested
00:37:20
two days after the Unsolved Mysteries
00:37:22
broadcast we got the phone call we were
00:37:24
waiting on James White was spotted by
00:37:27
someone who had seen the program up in
00:37:28
Burlington Vermont uh he was seen in a
00:37:32
bar and he was arrested and taken into
00:37:35
custody up there I was very glad to get
00:37:38
him off the road to think that he's not
00:37:40
going to kill someone else I think it's
00:37:41
a terrible thing what he did he should
00:37:43
have stayed there and he should have
00:37:45
faced the
00:37:46

00:37:49
years in prison with 15 years probation
00:37:52
his license was permanently revoked and
00:37:54
he was required to pay Linda $122,000
