00:00:08
are you ready we're on man GRE welcome
00:00:11
to my podcast what up man so good to
00:00:13
have you here first of all um who is
00:00:16
Fraser
00:00:17
group who am I my goodness um well I'm a
00:00:20
30-year-old kiwi dude that is just on a
00:00:23
crazy life mission of capturing the
00:00:25
dreams of 10,000 humans I'm 2080 dreams
00:00:29
in it I'm just I'm just a guy that found
00:00:32
the thing I was born to do and I'm I'm
00:00:34
just 100% all in man chasing it yeah
00:00:37
you're yeah you're the founder so it
00:00:38
started off being um a th000 dreams it
00:00:40
was 365 dreams oh okay yeah it was just
00:00:45
for one one year that was the goal no
00:00:47
when when did I first meet you I first
00:00:49
me at like an age F thing was it was it
00:00:51
365 dreams at that point I that in 2017
00:00:55
now it's 365 and then I jumped to 10,000
00:00:58
which kind of shocked everyone
00:01:00
in my life when I did that which makes
00:01:03
me think um you are so addicted to this
00:01:06
that you're going to keep going so when
00:01:08
you get to 10,000 there'll be something
00:01:09
else I don't know if my wife will let me
00:01:11
keep going man but I think it'd be
00:01:13
incredible if maybe it carried on with a
00:01:14
number of filmmakers you know maybe get
00:01:16
to like a billion dreams or something in
00:01:19
the next thousand years oh amazing like
00:01:21
so almost like a franchise or man if I
00:01:23
had like a thousand filmmakers doing
00:01:25
this every day or something around the
00:01:27
world yeah that would be incredible it's
00:01:29
been um that's been really cool and um
00:01:31
really inspiring to yeah as you said I
00:01:33
Met You in 2017 Yeah man so like seven
00:01:36
years ago very early in the journey and
00:01:39
um what was my dream then it was
00:01:42
something about estra is who was a I
00:01:44
don't know what she's still big singer
00:01:46
or not but she had one she had a song in
00:01:48
like 2017 that popped it was I don't
00:01:50
know for estres to like you or something
00:01:53
I'm pretty
00:01:55
sure yeah okay so yeah so you were you
00:01:57
were just sort of roaming around this
00:01:59
Edge f
00:02:00
to that we had had on and um I don't
00:02:03
know I suppose it was um like the
00:02:07
intention from my part would have been
00:02:08
to give you like a funny a funny dream a
00:02:10
funny answer abely um and then you
00:02:12
caught up with me a couple of weeks ago
00:02:13
we
00:02:14
reconnected and I I think I gave you a
00:02:16
more um a more thoughtful answer 100%
00:02:20
And I I thought about that after you
00:02:21
left and um what obviously you know
00:02:24
everyone goes through a lot of personal
00:02:26
growth in the space of seven years but I
00:02:28
think for me giving you a more
00:02:29
respectful answer um is probably a
00:02:32
reflection of the the time and effort
00:02:34
you've put into this project than do you
00:02:36
know what I mean so a dude running
00:02:37
around a concert with a camera with a
00:02:40
with a film project he's doing for a
00:02:42
year um you give that sort of person a
00:02:45
different time of day to a person that's
00:02:46
been doing this thing for seven years
00:02:48
and it's like oh [ __ ] this guy's
00:02:50
legit well I've noticed that man I think
00:02:53
the first year or two I got a lot more
00:02:54
silly answers and I got a lot more onew
00:02:57
answers like I want my dreams to be rich
00:02:59
or whereas now when I put the camera on
00:03:01
people and I say what's your dream some
00:03:03
of these conversations go longer than an
00:03:05
hour and I I I've totally noticed that
00:03:07
man it's been a really weird shift that
00:03:09
just happened gradually over time but
00:03:12
yeah yeah yeah and I'm enjoying watching
00:03:15
that um because there'll be a lot of
00:03:17
people that are engaging with this
00:03:19
podcast now that they're hearing about
00:03:20
this for the first time and they'll have
00:03:22
no idea about the 10,000 dreams project
00:03:24
um there'll be a lot of people that are
00:03:25
familiar with you but it's um yeah it's
00:03:28
been cool watching The Evolution how
00:03:29
it's gone from almost like a I don't
00:03:31
know like a real or a Tik Tok to almost
00:03:33
being like a sort of form of podcasting
00:03:35
in a way totally man that was never the
00:03:37
intention I I was um I was lucky enough
00:03:40
to be filming muna's dream earlier this
00:03:43
year and that was the first time the
00:03:45
Convoy ever went longer than like a
00:03:47
couple of minutes and it became like a
00:03:49
40-minute podcast and it kind of hit me
00:03:51
I was like why the heck is this not a
00:03:53
podcast and it's kind of now evolved
00:03:55
into one um but dude yeah I never could
00:03:58
have foreseen everything that like this
00:04:00
was not my life plan at all bro this was
00:04:02
just a bit with a mate that I dilt for
00:04:04
one year somehow it became my life
00:04:07
mission but oh dude I am so lucky that
00:04:10
like I I honestly feel so blessed that
00:04:13
this is what I get to do it's cool and
00:04:16
you by the way um I think we were three
00:04:17
minutes into it when you dropped mun's
00:04:19
name I'm sorry that was not meant to be
00:04:22
a name drop um but I think um and
00:04:25
there's there's a lot of like massive
00:04:28
massive but you've done over 2,000
00:04:30
dreams a lot of them are just like
00:04:31
normal people school kids um but there's
00:04:34
been a lot of um like big celebrities as
00:04:37
well and we'll get into that but I think
00:04:39
um uh yeah obviously regular people are
00:04:42
easier to get on than the big
00:04:43
celebrities but I think the big
00:04:44
celebrities you're getting on they're
00:04:46
doing that because of um the power of
00:04:49
your vision and the work and the care
00:04:51
and attention that you're putting into
00:04:53
this so a credit to you so um we're
00:04:56
recording this on a on a Monday uh you
00:04:58
spent the the weekend in the Gold Coast
00:05:00
chasing dreams yes bro yeah man me and
00:05:03
my wife and my uh cinematographer sash
00:05:06
went to Brisbane SP uh went over there
00:05:08
to film The wins dreams and also ended
00:05:11
up at Cody Simpson's house on the Gold
00:05:13
Coast as well so okay so you you went to
00:05:15
Australia zo yes yep spent had like an
00:05:18
hour conversation with them just insane
00:05:21
man like if I had a top 10 in like dead
00:05:24
or alive in History Steve Owen would
00:05:26
have been at the top of my list and I
00:05:28
actually I asked and Robert I said if I
00:05:31
was sitting in front of Steve right now
00:05:33
and I went what's your dream what would
00:05:34
his answer be and I'm going to do a
00:05:36
Steve irn dream video too it was it was
00:05:39
special man I can't tell you how much of
00:05:42
a hero that dude is for me and his
00:05:44
family is incredible man like we could
00:05:47
have chatted for hours they literally
00:05:49
had to be dragged out by the pr team we
00:05:52
we just kept going man we could have
00:05:53
chatted for three hours so was there
00:05:54
Terry and Terry and Robert so last
00:05:56
minute Bindy had something else that
00:05:58
popped up but we I'll go back and film
00:06:00
but what what were your dreams oh dude
00:06:04
well I'll tell you one one line that
00:06:06
Robert said was um my dream is to carry
00:06:09
on my dad's dream and he's doing that
00:06:12
he's doing that man it was it was just
00:06:14
beautiful man I it was in that moment
00:06:17
that conversation with them where it was
00:06:19
almost like I've done this for eight
00:06:21
years and it was almost like everything
00:06:22
had led up to that moment with them
00:06:24
where I was like this is where I was
00:06:26
meant to be like I was born to do this
00:06:28
and it was just so fun man like people
00:06:30
talk about Flow State I felt like that
00:06:32
conversation was a bit of a flow State
00:06:35
oh mate how
00:06:36
good how did that come back like run us
00:06:38
through the process of um like locking
00:06:41
in something like that well look man
00:06:43
like cold emails they work and I cold
00:06:46
emailed the win team in 2020 and it was
00:06:49
a pass because of Co and everything and
00:06:51
I honestly I just sent a cold email a
00:06:53
couple of months ago and it came back
00:06:54
straight away being like yep let's do
00:06:56
this and they said we'll te up a zoom
00:06:58
call and I said to them I was like look
00:07:00
I'll pay to fly over to Australia Zoo to
00:07:04
do this one and they were down for it
00:07:06
man and like it's it's getting a lot
00:07:08
easier to tea up people you know is that
00:07:10
why is that I think because I've one
00:07:13
it's gone on so long now and I've been
00:07:15
so lucky to have teed up some incredible
00:07:18
big names as well and I think people
00:07:21
just trust it a lot more like I I think
00:07:24
the hardest thing is getting that first
00:07:26
celebrity because people don't really
00:07:28
trust it until oh oh Ashton K just done
00:07:31
oh yeah sure I'll do it and then
00:07:32
suddenly it snowballs and it becomes so
00:07:35
it's a lot easier than it was man I
00:07:37
don't think I would have got the wins
00:07:39
four four or five years ago at all yeah
00:07:41
I suppose if you're if you're the win PR
00:07:43
team and there's the same island that
00:07:45
says I've had um you know steo Tony Hawk
00:07:51
israela COA well if it's good enough
00:07:54
that yeah yeah it bro the hardest thing
00:07:56
was when I started and I was reaching
00:07:58
out to people and I'm like I'm doing
00:08:00
this thing 10,000 days it's my life
00:08:02
mission and they're like wow how long
00:08:04
have you done it for and I'm like two
00:08:06
weeks and they're like all right cool
00:08:09
man and like I honestly it was probably
00:08:11
until I got to like a Thousand Dreams
00:08:13
that I feel like it shifted a little bit
00:08:16
but that first year was so tough man I
00:08:18
had to I had to beg everyone I had to
00:08:21
beg my family and friends to film their
00:08:23
dreams like the first month was just
00:08:25
family and friends cuz I couldn't get
00:08:27
anyone on board yeah you know you put
00:08:29
[ __ ] up hell if you if you have to beg
00:08:31
to get your family I literally forced my
00:08:32
brother in front of the camera and he
00:08:34
was he's probably still pissed at me
00:08:36
about it yeah my dreamers for Fraser to
00:08:38
[ __ ] off and leave me alone I think he
00:08:40
said my dreamers for Fraser to leave me
00:08:41
alone I'm pretty sure that's part of
00:08:43
what he said um and and then um oh yeah
00:08:45
so you're over in the Sunshine Sunshine
00:08:47
Coast or to go to the Australia Zoo then
00:08:49
how did you how did you end up with um
00:08:51
Cody Simpson I just stmed him on Sunday
00:08:54
night and I was like dude I'm in Gold
00:08:55
Coast tomorrow night are you free and he
00:08:57
came back within a few hours and was was
00:08:59
like yep he's like I watched Terry
00:09:01
Cruz's dream it's awesome let's do it
00:09:03
and went and spent an hour and a half
00:09:05
hour and a half at his house which yeah
00:09:08
amazing yeah for anyone that that
00:09:09
doesn't know Cody Simpson
00:09:11
um oh he's a fantastic swimmer he just
00:09:14
he just missed out on making the
00:09:16
Australian um Olympic team for Paris but
00:09:18
he he he's won a commonwealth mle a I'm
00:09:20
pretty sure he won gold at the
00:09:21
Commonwealth two years ago yeah but also
00:09:23
um like like a team Pop I don't know if
00:09:25
he was Nickelodeon or Disney but he was
00:09:27
sort of sort of came up with Justin
00:09:29
Bieber he used to be in early episodes
00:09:30
of the Kardashians was he seeing one of
00:09:32
the oh he was dating Kylie I'm KY yeah
00:09:34
yeah yeah way back in the days he used
00:09:36
to be he used to be on episodes of the
00:09:38
Kardashians when um when Caitlyn was
00:09:40
still bruis oh my goodness I don't think
00:09:43
I was watching it back there man yeah no
00:09:44
he's he's like he's he's he's a mess of
00:09:46
stone has been around forever so so you
00:09:48
just DM on literally man like I never DM
00:09:50
people I always figured they're never
00:09:52
going to see it but for some reason I
00:09:53
felt like dming Cody Simpson and it
00:09:57
happened man it's it's Essie wild I mean
00:09:58
I was huge Cody Simpson Fang growing my
00:10:01
wife came with me and she was like Peak
00:10:03
Cody Simpson Fang Gill so it was it was
00:10:06
just awesome man and it's just cool that
00:10:08
people welcome us into their house and
00:10:11
it honestly it just it feels so natural
00:10:13
now um I feel so lucky they don't really
00:10:16
get Star Struck or nervous anymore too
00:10:18
which I think relaxes people you know so
00:10:21
you go into his house yeah man just rock
00:10:24
up 6:30 and then we sit by the swimming
00:10:27
pool and we have a 40 minute chat on
00:10:28
camera and H such a cool dude man he's a
00:10:32
very inspiring guy the fact that he
00:10:35
transitioned from being a pop star to a
00:10:37
professional swimmer at 24 I'm pretty
00:10:39
sure it's just like unheard of yeah and
00:10:43
what was his
00:10:44
dream it was well was a 40-minute chat
00:10:47
man so we talked about multiple things
00:10:49
so the funny thing is like it used to be
00:10:51
way easier when people ask me like oh
00:10:53
what was so and so stream it used to be
00:10:55
way easier cuz most people only chatted
00:10:57
for like 10 seconds you know um but now
00:10:59
most of the conversations you know even
00:11:02
our conversation it went on for like 10
00:11:04
minutes and but it's so much richer man
00:11:07
I'm so like I love um I'm so curious so
00:11:11
I without the cameraman if I was at a
00:11:13
party or an event I would be asking
00:11:15
people what their dreams are anyway like
00:11:17
it's actually my passion is talking to
00:11:19
people about dreams I genuinely love it
00:11:21
man that's why I feel like I've never
00:11:23
worked doing this like I've it's
00:11:25
obviously been a lot of hard work but i'
00:11:27
it's never felt like hard work but it's
00:11:29
it's a passion project though way so
00:11:30
you're not you're not monetizing it
00:11:32
you're not making do you want to do you
00:11:34
want to have I'm getting to that point
00:11:36
now man where I'm trying to build it up
00:11:38
and do I'm developing a docu series at
00:11:39
the moment me and my wife are trying to
00:11:41
move to LA we're going in a couple of
00:11:43
days for two months but you know it's
00:11:45
opened up so many doors like it led to
00:11:47
it led me to being a producer on The
00:11:49
Wiggles documentary that Amazon um
00:11:52
bought a couple of years ago and that's
00:11:54
all because I filmed their dreams in
00:11:55
2019 you know something that I never
00:11:57
would have foreseen at at all and so in
00:12:00
terms of connections and doors opening
00:12:02
this Project's just been unreal man yeah
00:12:05
that's amazing yes so so you filmed the
00:12:06
you met you met The Wiggles was to to do
00:12:08
to get them for the 10,000 dreams
00:12:10
project and then as a result of that um
00:12:12
and the relationship that and all the
00:12:14
connection that you made then you got
00:12:15
the yeah the document is on Amazon Prime
00:12:17
like
00:12:18
it's yeah man was so weird like I kind
00:12:20
of had a relationship with them for a
00:12:22
couple of years and then they asked me
00:12:23
to come down to Christ Church at the
00:12:25
start of 2021 to um film a music video
00:12:28
with them and Richie M and at first I
00:12:30
said no cuz I had a church thing on that
00:12:33
Sunday but then I called my mom and she
00:12:34
was like dude go down to Christ what was
00:12:37
the what was the I'm sorry what was the
00:12:39
church thing it was like a church
00:12:40
getaway thing and I was like N I want to
00:12:42
go to there my mom was like dude go and
00:12:45
also part of it was I've I've been
00:12:47
turned down by Richard McCord's team
00:12:48
like eight times I was like oh this is
00:12:50
probably my shot and then I spend the
00:12:52
day with the Wiggles in Richie mcco and
00:12:54
Christ church and then the next day I
00:12:56
was editing it with my editor and I was
00:12:58
super grungy and it looked like a
00:13:00
Wiggles trailer for a documentary and i
00:13:03
i l turned to my editor I said dude it
00:13:05
looks like a trailer for a Wiggles
00:13:06
documentary so we googled Wiggles
00:13:09
documentary and we found out there was
00:13:11
no Wiggles documentary so I literally
00:13:12
just sent anony the main blue wiggle an
00:13:15
email saying can I make a Docker on you
00:13:17
and he came back straight away on my
00:13:18
27th birthday and was like many people
00:13:21
have tried over the years but if you do
00:13:23
it we'll make it happen and it just
00:13:25
literally overnight I was making a
00:13:27
Wiggles documentary that kind of became
00:13:29
became my main thing for like 2 and a
00:13:30
half years and who who B did they pay
00:13:33
for it or did you say I'll make this and
00:13:35
then try and sell it or what happened
00:13:36
well I've haded up with a company in New
00:13:38
Zealand called Augusto that did the
00:13:40
Richie mcore documentary and a company
00:13:42
called Sam and Sydney and then Amazon
00:13:45
bought it in 2022 and then it was
00:13:48
released on Amazon October last year
00:13:51
it's crazy M I never could have like
00:13:53
literally was just having an idea
00:13:54
sending an email and overnight I was
00:13:57
doing this thing yeah cuz so much so
00:14:00
much so much of your personal time and
00:14:03
um personal energy must go into this um
00:14:05
10,000 dreams project um yeah what is
00:14:08
your main source of income like you're a
00:14:10
married you're a family man right yes
00:14:12
married man been married for a year and
00:14:13
a half um look I mean The Wiggles Doo
00:14:16
gave me and my wife a lot of breathing
00:14:18
room and we've been very fortunate in
00:14:20
other areas too and I'm a filmmaker and
00:14:23
so I kind of had a little bit of a
00:14:25
directing kind of smaller commercials
00:14:27
and corporate stuff before
00:14:30
but honestly man we're just 100% all in
00:14:32
and we're just we're just going for it
00:14:34
we don't have kids we don't have a
00:14:35
mortgage we got nothing to
00:14:37
lose I love this is is this your is this
00:14:40
your um your faith that you just know
00:14:43
that everything's going to be all right
00:14:44
God's going to figure [ __ ] out y this is
00:14:46
what I meant to be doing I love it and
00:14:47
it's always opened up man like there's
00:14:49
been so many ridic like I know like
00:14:52
recently like um when we were booking
00:14:53
this two Monon trip to America and we
00:14:56
kind of just booked tickets and went we
00:14:58
trusted it's all going to work out we
00:15:00
didn't have really anything planned out
00:15:02
and then all of a sudden a maid in La
00:15:04
was like I need someone to house it for
00:15:06
six month uh six weeks and then I
00:15:09
submitted for this like Shar tank thing
00:15:12
and I ended up winning a decent Mount
00:15:14
very decent amount of money that's kind
00:15:16
of covered the entire trip and
00:15:17
everything just worked out but what's it
00:15:19
what's what's the sh tank thing it's uh
00:15:21
so this is some Christian film group
00:15:23
called salt media and they had this
00:15:26
competition where you submitted for a
00:15:27
film project and you had to pitch in
00:15:29
front of judges and everything and I
00:15:31
ended up being winning the thing and
00:15:34
honestly man the main thing is just book
00:15:36
the ticket and that's been the story of
00:15:38
everything crazy that's happened is just
00:15:40
I've booked the ticket and it's all just
00:15:43
gone from there just jump in the ocean
00:15:45
then figure out how to literally 100% so
00:15:47
um yeah I'm not sure when this episode's
00:15:49
going to come out but we can we can hold
00:15:51
it off is is is the anyone that you've
00:15:53
got logged in in the states that you're
00:15:54
going to I've now got yeah man um I'll
00:15:58
say I'll say I saw a couple of people
00:15:59
I'm doing acon stream oh amazing yeah uh
00:16:03
I would say we also going to London
00:16:05
afterwards I'm doing Pi Morgan oh
00:16:07
incredible just yeah and we've got a
00:16:09
bunch of other some people I won't say
00:16:10
yet but uh people signed to line up man
00:16:12
it's just well you don't want to say it
00:16:14
CU you're scared you're going to jinx it
00:16:15
or uh I think some people I'll just be a
00:16:19
little bit more private with until I
00:16:21
filmed it but um yeah man it's crazy
00:16:23
like half the time it's it just happens
00:16:26
like like I'll show up in LA and all of
00:16:28
a sudden and I'll be filming so and so
00:16:30
or so I I'm excited man big stuff's
00:16:33
going to happen that's so cool okay um
00:16:36
well let's talk about you so what were
00:16:38
your dreams or what was your dream when
00:16:40
you started this and what is it now I
00:16:43
think um yeah you must have found this
00:16:44
with people that you've had on um double
00:16:46
or multiple times like myself like your
00:16:49
dreams change all the time always man um
00:16:51
well when I started this bro I was so
00:16:53
selfish I was 22 my dream was to win an
00:16:57
Oscar and be the next Peter Jackson and
00:16:59
I just wanted to be a famous filmmaker
00:17:02
and dude my whole life was just about me
00:17:05
and my dreams like I was so selfish and
00:17:07
this project totally transformed me and
00:17:09
now my dream is just help the world
00:17:11
dream like this if you told me at like
00:17:13
18 that I would be doing this and my
00:17:15
dream was just about helping others
00:17:17
dream I would not I honestly I would
00:17:20
have thought I had failed I I thought I
00:17:22
would be one of the greatest filmmakers
00:17:23
of all time by the age of 30 you know
00:17:26
and it's just I don't know man it just
00:17:29
I just learned that there's nothing more
00:17:31
important than helping other people
00:17:32
dream like I the most set like the most
00:17:36
happy I've ever felt is when I'm with
00:17:39
someone and we're talking about dreams
00:17:41
and I get to encourage them and like
00:17:43
honestly like I've been lucky to have
00:17:45
achieved some cool stuff and being in
00:17:47
incredible situations but nothing's more
00:17:49
fulfilling than helping other people
00:17:51
dream but yeah since I was seven years
00:17:53
old man I was I was going to be the next
00:17:55
p Jackson yeah what would you say is the
00:17:57
difference between like a dream and a
00:18:00
goal is it kind of can it be the same
00:18:02
sort of thing really I think it can be
00:18:04
man but I think a dream is um I would
00:18:06
have away I did I filmed the dream of an
00:18:08
astronaut called Chris headfield in 2019
00:18:11
and he talked about having a moonshot
00:18:13
dream and when he was a kid his moonshot
00:18:15
dream was to walk on the moon and he
00:18:18
always knew that was probably never
00:18:19
going to happen but because his dream
00:18:22
was so far over here it kind of made him
00:18:25
go well if I'm going to walk on the moon
00:18:27
what do I need to read today what do I
00:18:29
need to eat how do I need to exercise
00:18:31
what do I need to study and all those
00:18:33
steps led to him being the first
00:18:35
Canadian astronaut to ever go to space
00:18:37
but he never walked on the moon but it
00:18:40
got him to space and so I think having a
00:18:43
dream it's like having that Everest
00:18:45
that's like I will get to that point at
00:18:48
some point in my life even if it's
00:18:49
impossible and I feel like goals are
00:18:51
more short-term attainable like my goal
00:18:54
this year is to start a podcast or
00:18:57
something but
00:18:59
my dream in life would not be to start a
00:19:01
podcast my dream in life is to change
00:19:04
you know to help the entire planet dream
00:19:07
and for dreaming to become a part of
00:19:09
everyday conversation and that's a huge
00:19:11
dream and that may never happen but that
00:19:14
massive goal is going to allow me and
00:19:16
force me to do all these little steps
00:19:18
you know yeah and I like how the
00:19:22
question makes you um contemplate and
00:19:25
think about things cuz it's easy just to
00:19:27
say oh you know want to I don't know I
00:19:30
want to be rich or I want to have a boat
00:19:31
or whatever but if you if you if you
00:19:34
pause and reflect and think about it for
00:19:36
less than a minute you know you can um
00:19:39
you come up with a far deeper answer
00:19:40
than that 100% man I even like kind of
00:19:42
experienced it when I started this
00:19:44
project I wrote out a list of five
00:19:46
impossible people to film and on that
00:19:49
list was Justin Bieber Steven Spielberg
00:19:51
Roger feder JK rolling and Elmo on
00:19:54
Sesame Street and they were kind of my
00:19:56
five Big Dreams for this project and I
00:19:59
was lucky enough to film Elmo's dream on
00:20:01
Sesame Street August last year and I was
00:20:04
like this is the height like I've now
00:20:07
living out one of these dreams and
00:20:09
honestly the next day I was miserable I
00:20:12
was like I bombed it that wasn't what I
00:20:14
envisioned I was awkward why was I
00:20:16
wearing that outfit uh and I just
00:20:19
totally felt like I failed the whole
00:20:22
thing it's cuz my dream was wrong man
00:20:24
that that was probably more of a goal
00:20:26
than a dream you almost in a way you you
00:20:28
almost want it to be that you could
00:20:29
never attain your dream because the
00:20:31
worst thing is is when you actually wake
00:20:33
up the next day and you go I kind of did
00:20:36
what I you know I kind of did what I set
00:20:37
out to do and it's like what what now I
00:20:40
kind of hit a massive wall man um Al so
00:20:43
why were you worried about your outfit
00:20:44
ELO was naked dude that's great point
00:20:48
it's am do you ever do that when you
00:20:50
watch back and you're like damn my hair
00:20:52
look terrible why didn't I shave oh I
00:20:53
should have no for me it's other things
00:20:56
like I I'll do a podcast like this chat
00:20:58
that we we're having now later on this
00:21:00
afternoon I'll go out for a run and I'll
00:21:01
be thinking about things that I didn't
00:21:03
ask you that I should have asked you
00:21:05
yeah um but yeah it's a it's a it's a
00:21:07
live flowing conversation so you're not
00:21:09
going to yeah it's very easy to think of
00:21:11
things in in hindsight but it's a
00:21:12
flowing conversation so you just
00:21:14
absolutely you can't do that also out of
00:21:16
those five on your dream list ELO was
00:21:18
the loow hanging fruit right is it just
00:21:21
one person that does the voice or are
00:21:23
numerous people around the world been
00:21:25
the same guy since like 2012 I think so
00:21:28
it's been two dudes that have done it
00:21:30
since the beginning but that was so wild
00:21:32
man I literally flew to Melbourne for 10
00:21:34
minutes just to film Myro then flew back
00:21:36
home how much I mean you put so much
00:21:40
personal time into this how much money
00:21:41
do you think you put into it oh a lot
00:21:42
man just I hate to think a lot man more
00:21:46
than 100 plusk easy man like but I never
00:21:50
have I ever regretted spending a scent
00:21:52
on this man it's it's hard to explain
00:21:54
this is just my mission in life like I
00:21:58
do absolutely anything for this Mission
00:22:00
man and the best thing is having my wife
00:22:02
be a part of it now and we do all the
00:22:04
dreams together we travel together it's
00:22:08
I don't know man I just I I wouldn't I
00:22:11
wouldn't want to do anything else yeah
00:22:12
so have you been married twice no this
00:22:15
yes I yeah man I I did go through a
00:22:18
divorce when I was 25 yeah yeah cuz I I
00:22:21
um listened to some other podcast over
00:22:23
the weekend that you've done previously
00:22:24
so um yes so you started this in
00:22:27
December 2016 that was the
00:22:29
started as a with your matean um and
00:22:32
then you yes so when we we met him this
00:22:35
time somewhere and you going to do it
00:22:36
every day for a year you end up doing
00:22:38
like every damn day for 5 years five
00:22:40
years Man without fail oh dude
00:22:42
1,819 days in a row oh dude and I was in
00:22:46
I was going to do every day for 10,000
00:22:48
days which was 27 and a half years and I
00:22:51
was stubborn about it too and I was
00:22:52
public about it and I felt I felt
00:22:55
trapped and I kind of trapped myself
00:22:57
because no one else put that pressure on
00:22:59
me to do it but I felt like I kind of
00:23:01
owed it to everyone to do but I just
00:23:04
fizzled out man and honestly the moment
00:23:06
like I I kind of went before the end of
00:23:08
that 5 years there was probably a
00:23:10
two-month period where I was just a
00:23:11
shell of a man and I was so low I had
00:23:14
anxiety whenever I met someone to film
00:23:17
their dream it was destroying me and
00:23:19
then one of my close mates um who was a
00:23:22
really well-known young entrepreneur in
00:23:24
New Zealand I literally then found out
00:23:26
one day that he took us life and he was
00:23:30
someone I always looked up to and it
00:23:32
worked alongside and always was like I
00:23:34
want to be like him and when he passed
00:23:36
away it just literally rattled me to be
00:23:39
like that is not going to be me I'm not
00:23:41
going to allow myself mental healthwise
00:23:43
to get to that point and I quit the next
00:23:45
day and it just happened to be five
00:23:47
years on the doll when I quit and I was
00:23:49
done like I I told everyone I'm taking a
00:23:52
a little bit of a sabatical for a couple
00:23:54
of months but I was done and I quit for
00:23:57
like 15 months and I was never ever
00:23:59
going to do it again until one morning
00:24:02
last year in March I woke up and I just
00:24:04
felt like I have I just F woke up going
00:24:08
I feel like I have to do this again um
00:24:10
and then I spent the next month
00:24:11
basically saying no you know and I I
00:24:15
just was so reluctant to pick it up
00:24:17
again and I'm like no one's going to
00:24:19
care if I do it again and thank goodness
00:24:24
I started it again bro but now it's not
00:24:26
every day now it's like a life a life
00:24:28
goal but everything that's kind of blown
00:24:30
my mind that's happened with this
00:24:32
journey has happened since picking it up
00:24:34
again well suppose um one of the one of
00:24:36
the many good things about it is um it's
00:24:39
your dream and your vision that other
00:24:40
people are buying into so anytime you
00:24:42
want to stop you can and you won't be
00:24:44
leing anyone else down um yeah so the
00:24:46
only pressure you feel is pressure I
00:24:48
guess that you're putting on yourself
00:24:50
strange how we do that to ourselves oh
00:24:51
bro I'm the worst at that man I am my
00:24:54
worst
00:24:55
critic same here same here my own voice
00:24:58
is terrible at like yeah it's just
00:25:00
Savage I'm an [ __ ] to me be nice to
00:25:05
these parallels with you and me like I
00:25:07
I'll be nice to everyone else I'll save
00:25:09
my my worst behavior for yeah the in oh
00:25:13
you're preaching man so um your first
00:25:16
celebrity that's art green yeah day
00:25:18
number one man I happened to be meeting
00:25:19
him the day after the BET was met I was
00:25:21
like dude I'm doing this thing for one
00:25:23
year yeah we laugh about it now man I
00:25:26
I've seen it many times since and it's
00:25:28
kind of just so Random it was just so
00:25:30
casual like oh can I just ask you what
00:25:32
your dream is on camera and I had no
00:25:34
idea what this was going to be man like
00:25:37
it just but that's how you start man you
00:25:39
just start and you don't like if I had
00:25:42
set like I started the next day after
00:25:44
that bit if I had waited a week and
00:25:47
thought about it no way I would have
00:25:48
done it I would have talked myself out
00:25:50
of it I had family members and friends
00:25:52
trying to talk me out of it when I
00:25:54
started it but I kind of started and I
00:25:56
was like no I've locked in for one year
00:25:59
and but and then it just evolves man
00:26:02
like everything about us just evolved
00:26:04
what why did um yeah why did family
00:26:06
members and Friends try and talk you out
00:26:07
of it it seems Seems fairly simple like
00:26:10
you could even just go up to at that
00:26:11
point early on like when you when you
00:26:13
had the um you know the seed of the idea
00:26:16
you could literally just go up to
00:26:17
someone in the mall right and ask them
00:26:19
exactly it's very you could do it on
00:26:20
your phone it' be very easy 2 minutes a
00:26:22
day yeah well I think because I was a
00:26:24
filmmaker I always wanted that craft
00:26:26
still so I always brought the camera the
00:26:27
burn and I'd always edited and
00:26:29
everything but I think people were just
00:26:32
confused about why I was doing it cuz it
00:26:34
kind of came out of nowhere um I
00:26:36
remember my dad was um always said to me
00:26:39
when I stud he's like I just don't get
00:26:41
it he's like I just I just don't get it
00:26:44
and it was probably maybe a year in or
00:26:46
something before like I started to see
00:26:48
him being like okay I think I get this
00:26:50
now and now he like oh man massive
00:26:53
massive um supporter and it's just but
00:26:57
that always drove me in a weird way I
00:26:59
feel like that drove me dead being like
00:27:00
I just don't get it but I don't know why
00:27:02
I stuck at it man there's been so many
00:27:04
things in my life like going to the gym
00:27:05
where I go for like two weeks and then I
00:27:08
just quit I don't know why I stuck at
00:27:11
this yeah if you got that passion I
00:27:13
guess he and then um yeah and then you
00:27:16
you know you get momentum and I suppose
00:27:18
like um The Wiggles thing you were
00:27:20
talking about like you know doors open
00:27:22
that where you didn't even know there
00:27:23
was you know potential to be a door oh
00:27:26
momentum is everything man yeah cuz like
00:27:28
the first like 100 200 days there was
00:27:31
like there wasn't even passion yet at
00:27:33
that point it was just to prove Logan
00:27:34
wrong you know um I don't know what
00:27:37
point I started to grow more passion for
00:27:39
it but it it's just been strange man
00:27:43
like I don't know I don't even know I
00:27:44
explain it bro this yeah this is not the
00:27:48
plan um yeah where does the um where
00:27:50
does the drive-in persistence come from
00:27:52
in terms of I'm guessing there's a you
00:27:54
know for all the success stories that
00:27:56
we'll talk about in terms of like big
00:27:57
stuff you've had on I'm sure there's um
00:28:00
just as many if not more uh where people
00:28:02
have just ignored you or even worse told
00:28:05
you to back the [ __ ] off oh yeah oh
00:28:07
really oh 100% man I had a a few months
00:28:10
ago I had a massive YouTuber who I will
00:28:12
not say the name of because most people
00:28:14
who know who it is say please do not
00:28:16
email me again and that whole day I was
00:28:19
like bedridden I was like what have I
00:28:21
done and then you wake up the next day
00:28:23
and you're like ah okay move on you know
00:28:25
you got to you got to be kind to
00:28:26
yourself when those happen but I've seen
00:28:28
more that's that's so mean though way I
00:28:31
know it's pretty how how really how
00:28:32
persistent were you I seen I only seen
00:28:35
three emails bro like there's been times
00:28:38
where I've sent like 20 emails before
00:28:40
someone's responded to me I didn't even
00:28:42
think I was that persistent with that
00:28:44
person but like I've seen more than
00:28:46
35,000 emails since I started this thing
00:28:48
and I have been turned down thousands of
00:28:50
times but I've also you know been very
00:28:53
lucky my thing is it's kind of every 100
00:28:55
emails I'll get like one or two yeses
00:28:58
so right I so you know that you're
00:29:00
working on margins of like the more I
00:29:01
seen man the more youres I'll get and
00:29:03
it's also persistent it's following up
00:29:06
is absolute key like do you know who Zan
00:29:07
L is Zan L yeah of course yeah yeah yeah
00:29:10
yeah man abolutely him yeah man I seen
00:29:12
him in 20 uh 15 cold emails this year
00:29:16
and had never heard about just like I'm
00:29:18
just going to chase follow up follow up
00:29:20
and then I was in LA two months ago and
00:29:22
he called me I was like yeah let's do it
00:29:24
this is awesome but that was 15 cold
00:29:26
emails I was like this guy's going to
00:29:27
hate me but I just kept going I was like
00:29:30
do do you think um part of it is um you
00:29:33
there's that saying the the squeaky
00:29:34
wheel gets the oil like like [ __ ] I'll
00:29:38
just get I'll rip the bandaid off people
00:29:39
to just get out of him get him done then
00:29:41
he can leave me the [ __ ] alone yeah and
00:29:43
then I think when I show up and I've got
00:29:45
a big smile they're like okay you're
00:29:47
harmless you're not you're not trying to
00:29:49
use me or anything 100% yeah there's no
00:29:51
there's no hiden agenda I think um
00:29:54
there's that purity of it because you're
00:29:55
not making any money out of it you know
00:29:57
what I mean like
00:29:58
there's um yeah there's something quite
00:30:01
cool about that um okay so who have you
00:30:03
done face to face in La that was oh who
00:30:07
was your first real big star was that
00:30:08
Ashton
00:30:09
coocha that was like that was probably
00:30:12
the first like big and that was like
00:30:14
after I picked it up again so that was
00:30:16
like six and six and a half years in at
00:30:19
that point uh I've got different phases
00:30:22
like I kind of started you know Arc
00:30:23
green and then I was getting like oh I
00:30:25
got Mike King and I remember at the
00:30:27
start like getting like Jon O and B was
00:30:29
like holy crap and I told the guys was
00:30:31
like I'm on Jon and B this is crazy man
00:30:34
and like on day five I filmed the dream
00:30:37
of um Carmel cipolone who was just a
00:30:40
local yeah she was a local MP at the
00:30:43
time and I was like dude it's never
00:30:44
going to get bigger than a local MP and
00:30:47
then all of a sudden I did Jinder and
00:30:48
then I did J ke and then suddenly The
00:30:50
Wiggles and then Lydia Co and then
00:30:52
suddenly you were doing people like
00:30:54
Ronin kading and you're like oh I've
00:30:56
done an American now and then Ashton was
00:30:59
like the first like what the heck is
00:31:02
going on here and then that's now led to
00:31:05
like munes Terry Cruz Tony Hawk was in
00:31:09
uh T Payne's hotel room in Vegas a few
00:31:11
months ago um it's you know israa just
00:31:16
it's it's just crazy man like it so um
00:31:20
you so ason cooch I've seen that clip
00:31:21
online so you you um because of the time
00:31:23
zone difference you're in a MC Cafe at
00:31:25
like 4 in the morning a.m. why didn't
00:31:27
you do it at home why why um McDonald's
00:31:30
well when um when he got back like I
00:31:32
sent him a cold email it was a total
00:31:34
cold email and when he came back and
00:31:36
then his assistant was teting up the
00:31:38
time they're like can you do you know
00:31:40
9:00 a.m. La time and I didn't want to
00:31:43
tell them that it was 4:00 a.m. in New
00:31:45
Zealand cuz I was scared that if IID
00:31:47
said can we change it they would just go
00:31:49
oh would you're too complicated go away
00:31:51
so I just said yes and look there is a
00:31:54
degree like we've got a very small kind
00:31:56
of loft apartment look me and my wife
00:31:58
and I was like it's pretty small but I
00:32:00
was like but it's a bit of story if I go
00:32:03
to McDonald's cuz then I just tell you I
00:32:04
was at 4 a.m at a McDonald's on a zoom
00:32:07
call of fashon cach it's a way bit of
00:32:09
story man I do anything for a good story
00:32:12
yeah so when you say you called emailed
00:32:14
like how how do you C email you just try
00:32:16
ashton. coer
00:32:18
Gmail guess some combinations I won't go
00:32:20
into the whole email situation cuz I
00:32:23
have got in trouble before but honestly
00:32:25
man cold emails work I I think a lot of
00:32:28
people don't think they do but they it's
00:32:30
shocking how far a cold email can go
00:32:33
yeah I lit forgot I cold emailed him I
00:32:35
think it was three weeks between me
00:32:37
sending it and him responding and I was
00:32:39
having a low day I was just watching
00:32:41
YouTube at like 8:00 a.m. and I was just
00:32:43
low I was flat I was like where am I
00:32:45
what's going on with this thing where am
00:32:46
I going I was very lost at that point
00:32:49
and then all of a sudden I had an email
00:32:51
pop up that said eston coulder and I was
00:32:53
like what I like totally forgot I had
00:32:55
emailed him and ah dude uh so much
00:32:59
respect for that guy he did not need to
00:33:01
do it like he didn't need to man and he
00:33:03
gave me 20 minutes of his time as well
00:33:05
it was and it was actually crazy he said
00:33:08
um going back to my Peter Jackson dream
00:33:11
I had held on to that my whole life bro
00:33:13
it almost became an idol to me um I have
00:33:15
to be Peter Jackson I was almost not
00:33:18
fulfilling who I was meant to be because
00:33:20
I was holding on to this Peter Jackson
00:33:22
dream and I kind of said that to him and
00:33:25
I opened up a little bit and he said to
00:33:26
me he's like you'll only ever be the
00:33:28
second best Peter Jackson but you could
00:33:30
be the best Fraser on the planet and
00:33:32
honly him saying that almost changed my
00:33:34
life and after that point I almost let
00:33:37
go of the Peter Jackson thing and when
00:33:39
I'm just going to embrace beinging
00:33:40
Fraser and what I'm doing right here and
00:33:43
everything that's come has been since
00:33:44
that moment yeah and Aston coie also
00:33:47
compliments you on your email yeah I
00:33:49
know what what was the email oh dude is
00:33:51
is it like a like a a copy and paste I
00:33:55
I've got a template but I kind of rework
00:33:56
it based on who I'm reaching out to
00:33:58
honestly I I looked on um Google like
00:34:02
late last year at like how to cold email
00:34:04
and I break every single rule that
00:34:06
people say you should do like I am just
00:34:09
myself I'm like yo sup Tom Cruz what up
00:34:12
bro let's freaking do this man emojis
00:34:15
like I'm just myself I'm like would I
00:34:18
say this to him if I saw him and I'm
00:34:20
like yeah then I'll send it I never have
00:34:23
said deare so and so kind regards I'm
00:34:27
just like like I always start with like
00:34:29
hope you're having a badass week hope
00:34:31
it's been epic man like and I think that
00:34:34
stands out to people because it's so
00:34:36
different but it's because the
00:34:38
unprofessionalism so unprofessional man
00:34:41
and I think there's probably some people
00:34:43
that have been kind of offended by my
00:34:45
emails but genuinely man it seems to
00:34:47
work well I like it like it's not a
00:34:50
LinkedIn post you writing is that it's
00:34:52
uh it's cool and it obviously worked cuz
00:34:54
as I said like he complimented you on
00:34:55
your email so I'm guessing Ashton coo
00:34:57
then led to his wife M KES well actually
00:35:01
man after I filmed Ashton's dream all my
00:35:03
uh the boys were like dude did you ask
00:35:05
him if you could film me's dream and I
00:35:07
was like no I didn't want to you know
00:35:08
cross the line and push my luck and so I
00:35:11
kind of sat on it for a little bit and
00:35:13
then I you know I won't say how I got an
00:35:16
email or anything but then I just cold
00:35:17
emailed her out of you know and then she
00:35:19
got back to me going yeah my husband
00:35:21
told me about this let's do it and that
00:35:23
was I think May last year June last year
00:35:27
and it took maybe 9 months before I
00:35:29
ended up at their house on Valentine's
00:35:31
Day in Beverly Hills and spent the
00:35:33
morning with them it was yeah it's
00:35:34
amazing it's a great video and they've
00:35:36
got a beautiful house oh my gosh man
00:35:38
they're the coolest people in the world
00:35:39
bro oh dude are are you are you sitting
00:35:42
there um completely in the moment or do
00:35:44
you have like little flashes where you
00:35:46
stop listening to what she's saying and
00:35:47
you're like what the [ __ ] is going on
00:35:49
right now not really man like honestly I
00:35:51
was shocked at how relaxed I felt
00:35:53
because they were so welcoming you know
00:35:55
we just walk in and you know is just on
00:35:58
his laptop in the corner and he's making
00:36:00
soup in the kitchen and then we just go
00:36:02
and me and mil have a chat for like 40
00:36:04
minutes and then at one point it was us
00:36:07
on a FaceTime call with scooter Brawn um
00:36:09
because they're good friends scooter
00:36:11
Brawn and i' had filmed Scooter's dream
00:36:12
last year and you're just like I think
00:36:15
at that point it was kind of surreal but
00:36:18
honestly man they just it was just so
00:36:20
crazy bro I yeah that whole week like I
00:36:23
literally had back to back days when I
00:36:25
was in T's hotel room and
00:36:28
then I was in ter Cruz's office for an
00:36:30
hour and then I was with Ashton and M
00:36:32
then I was filming live stream by a
00:36:34
swimming pool and then it was just this
00:36:36
like 3 4 day period where was just
00:36:38
outrageous man it's but when I booked
00:36:42
the flight to La I had no one booked in
00:36:45
I just felt like I needed to go to La
00:36:47
and everything would line up and it did
00:36:50
cuz in the email what do you what what's
00:36:53
the sales patch you're saying 5 minutes
00:36:54
of your time 10 minutes of I say 30
00:36:56
seconds of your time but now they kind
00:36:58
of naturally it always becomes like 2
00:37:00
hours now but you kind of go I want like
00:37:03
you always got to say 30 seconds just to
00:37:05
get in the door and then if they chill
00:37:07
about it you can kind of keep going but
00:37:08
the thing is I could do it in 30 seconds
00:37:11
you know like with Al I filmed Al mcf's
00:37:13
dream and I literally had 30 seconds to
00:37:15
film a
00:37:17
dream so I can do it in 30 seconds but
00:37:20
uh it's definitely now evolved way
00:37:22
longer yeah you definitely try and um
00:37:23
sort of make that con a deeper
00:37:25
connection 100% man yeah I've gone away
00:37:27
from from like the quick what should
00:37:29
like I've kind of totally moved on from
00:37:31
that now I I want the longer
00:37:32
conversations um a couple of names that
00:37:35
you've mentioned RNA um you you were
00:37:37
sitting on his balcony with him that was
00:37:39
a long chat that was yeah man that was
00:37:41
like an hour conversation that is is one
00:37:43
cool dude bro I had nothing prep going
00:37:46
into that no questions just we just sat
00:37:49
down on the balcony and we had this chat
00:37:50
for an hour man it was it was so special
00:37:54
I actually filmed his dream in 2020 um
00:37:57
after the training one day and that was
00:37:59
a Israel what's your dream and it was
00:38:00
like a 30C answer but this was just so
00:38:03
awesome man I yeah bro I I don't know
00:38:07
how it happens man and what about um
00:38:09
yeah you mentioned um a couple of
00:38:10
previous Prime Ministers Jus run and
00:38:12
John key uh any backstory there it's
00:38:15
notoriously hard to pin down a prime
00:38:17
minister a I think the they're um
00:38:20
they're all very um
00:38:23
um accommodating um but the people
00:38:26
behind them they off are useless oh dude
00:38:29
yeah I've lucky man I've filmed seven
00:38:30
Prime Ministers now so the only living
00:38:33
prime minister I have in filmed is
00:38:34
Holland Clark and I did end up at at a
00:38:36
family Christmas party in 2019 and I
00:38:39
talked to her about it and she she
00:38:42
wasn't comfortable filming it but so I
00:38:45
mean it's just yeah man I don't I just
00:38:48
persistence That's it man just keep
00:38:49
following up like just keep chasing I
00:38:52
think it helps that I'm not like asking
00:38:55
for money or I'm asking for like 2 hours
00:38:58
of some time but honestly man you just
00:39:01
got to be bold and like honestly my
00:39:03
thing is just head balls just show up
00:39:06
just knock on the door
00:39:08
just like the worst thing is Regret I'm
00:39:11
30 years old and when I look back at my
00:39:13
20s everything that I regret is when I
00:39:16
didn't shoot my shot you know that's the
00:39:18
only time like I once was like when I
00:39:22
was doing 10,000 dreams I was at the
00:39:24
domestic airport in ockland and I was
00:39:26
all my camera here was getting through
00:39:28
the customs and I turned around and
00:39:29
James Cameron was behind me and this is
00:39:32
a guy I've looked up to since I was a
00:39:33
kid and always wanted to film his dream
00:39:36
and I chickened out and I didn't go up
00:39:38
to him and he was right behind me and I
00:39:40
regret that so much man it's all the
00:39:43
it's the things you don't do that you
00:39:45
regret and the times I've shot my shot
00:39:47
and have been kicked out of a room I
00:39:50
kind of just laugh about now bro like
00:39:51
I've been to massive Bridge with Rick
00:39:53
Ashley I don't know if you know Rick
00:39:55
Ashley and the Never Going To Give You
00:39:56
Up song yeah of course everyone's been
00:39:58
rickrolled I burnt a mess I was Rick I
00:40:02
rickrolled myself on that one man I uh I
00:40:04
confirmed his dream when he was in
00:40:06
ockland in 2020 and I reached out to his
00:40:08
wife about it and
00:40:10
manager and a couple of days before
00:40:12
filming his dream I announced it
00:40:15
publicly and I told everyone exactly how
00:40:18
I got in touch with him I guessed his
00:40:20
wife's email and I saw her number pop up
00:40:22
and then I watched that message her and
00:40:24
then I I don't know why the hell I did
00:40:26
it bro I was
00:40:27
I was just trying to be cool I think and
00:40:29
go like look at me I got in touch and
00:40:31
then she saw the post I didn't think
00:40:33
she'd see the post and uh that door slam
00:40:36
shut in my face that was a wake up call
00:40:38
man oh so so you got the dream done no I
00:40:41
was I got it confirmed in the calendar
00:40:43
for the Saturday and on the Wednesday I
00:40:45
announced it I've never announced before
00:40:48
filming a dream since that day oh for J
00:40:50
jinxing it is is that why um like before
00:40:53
when I asked about um how you got Aston
00:40:54
CO's email you're like a little bit sort
00:40:56
of guarded about it you also guarded
00:40:57
about some of the upcoming totally man
00:41:00
like I think you just like I've learned
00:41:02
that you have to respect people these
00:41:04
like these are people that don't just
00:41:06
say yes to everything and they're giving
00:41:08
me their time which is a huge privilege
00:41:11
for me and there were times in the past
00:41:13
where I crossed that line because I was
00:41:16
trying to make myself look cool and uh
00:41:18
Rick Ashley's wife did call me out on
00:41:21
that one and she was brutal but I felt
00:41:24
dude I felt like a win for a breakup for
00:41:26
like three days like I was like I was oh
00:41:30
I was like oh you just felt like a like
00:41:32
[ __ ] no she she she called me out big
00:41:34
time on the Char my character back then
00:41:36
man it changed like like so she sent you
00:41:38
a DM or yeah uh WhatsApp message yeah
00:41:41
right like basically saying what oh dude
00:41:44
I won't go into too much detail but she
00:41:46
was um she was like you just you know
00:41:49
you're just trying to look cool in front
00:41:50
of everyone you're just you don't
00:41:52
respect us and like I said too on the
00:41:56
post I said Rick wife and she's like I'm
00:41:58
his manager too but you just said wife
00:42:01
you didn't say manager and that
00:42:03
everything she said was right man I was
00:42:06
going down a rabbit hole and that woke
00:42:09
me up big time bro I've never been to
00:42:11
bridge since then but holy heck and I
00:42:14
have followed up recently and I was left
00:42:17
on scene so I feel like Rick Ashley is
00:42:20
uh never going to happen again but
00:42:23
you're going to keep trying you're never
00:42:24
going to give him that how ironic the
00:42:26
song to man whenever that song plays now
00:42:28
all my mates like just turned to me and
00:42:31
it's it's almost fun but I look back and
00:42:33
I go look I was you know I was dumb I I
00:42:36
made a mistake but you know this life I
00:42:38
learned from it yeah one of the best
00:42:40
lessons I guess like moving forward for
00:42:42
you with what you want to achieve oh
00:42:43
dude and thank goodness it was someone
00:42:45
that thank goodness it wasn't Justin
00:42:47
Bieber
00:42:48
that it could have been a lot worse man
00:42:51
you you can die happy if you make it to
00:42:53
10,000 without Rick asley in there like
00:42:56
I could have burned a Bridge with like
00:42:58
Obama or something and all right well if
00:43:01
um if Rick Hy's wife happens to stumble
00:43:03
across this video somewh I have grown
00:43:06
please please he's sorry give me another
00:43:09
chance um what about Tony Hawk how did
00:43:12
that come about the word's greater
00:43:13
skateboarder oh dude that was fun man I
00:43:15
had cold email team came back straight
00:43:17
away going yep Tony can do this hopped
00:43:19
on a zoom call with him and again for a
00:43:22
good story I did it at a skate park and
00:43:24
I had a crew filming it so was me
00:43:26
sitting on like a ram and that dude is
00:43:28
cool man he gave me a lot of time and I
00:43:31
think that was what was special about
00:43:33
that is my mate Nate his hero growing up
00:43:36
was Tony Hawk he's a skater and like
00:43:38
literally his hero is Tony Hawk and I
00:43:40
was able to bring him along and then
00:43:42
introduce them to Tony at the end and it
00:43:45
was special man like I think when I so
00:43:48
I've kind of gone to the point where I'm
00:43:49
like I'm so lucky I get to be in these
00:43:51
situations and if I can make someone
00:43:53
else's dream come true at the same time
00:43:56
it's special and but yeah I mean I grew
00:44:00
up with Tony Hawk I think everyone my
00:44:01
age did so that was well to's a
00:44:03
skateboarders like he's the only
00:44:05
skateboarder that has really like
00:44:06
crossed over and become fully mainstream
00:44:08
like everyone knows Tony Hawk yeah man
00:44:11
it was like one of those guys I didn't
00:44:12
even really reach out to cuz I always
00:44:14
just assumed it would be like a a no and
00:44:17
I just send a cold email it's so it's I
00:44:19
think timing is everything too you know
00:44:22
you might get a no but maybe it was just
00:44:23
a bad time maybe the team was you know
00:44:26
the P PR person was having a bad day or
00:44:28
maybe they're just crazy busy that week
00:44:31
and I think it's just a timing thing
00:44:33
that's why you just got to keep sending
00:44:34
the emails 100% And also um yeah one
00:44:37
thing that like any any sort of
00:44:39
entrepreneur will know or anyone that's
00:44:41
um just got that sort of um that instinc
00:44:44
of like persistence or drive um no
00:44:47
become no no it's a horrible word to
00:44:49
hear but it becomes it loses its impact
00:44:52
very very quickly the more you hear it
00:44:54
and when when you realize that it's um
00:44:55
it holds very little power it's fine you
00:44:57
can just yeah sort of get you know it
00:44:59
doesn't actually sting after a while it
00:45:01
doesn't man and it's it I find people
00:45:03
don't say no they say unfortunately so
00:45:06
when I open an email now I literally
00:45:09
instantly go I look for the word
00:45:11
unfortunately when I first see an email
00:45:13
pop up I instantly go where's he
00:45:15
unfortunately cuz I've got it so many
00:45:18
times and every now and then you don't
00:45:20
get the unfortunately and it's an
00:45:22
incredible feeling like oh my gosh what
00:45:25
yeah um oh yes what about Richie M so
00:45:28
you um so you met him through the
00:45:30
Wiggles
00:45:31
yes had you tried to get him before that
00:45:35
yeah man I actually had his um his
00:45:37
manager messaged me after multiple
00:45:40
emails saying Richie will not do this uh
00:45:43
and then I wonder two years later off
00:45:45
yeah I wonder if if his manager had even
00:45:47
passed the message on I don't think so
00:45:49
man I think most of the time if I get
00:45:51
directly to the person it's usually yes
00:45:54
cuz I think a lot of managers they um
00:45:57
a lot of managers like a paid a
00:45:58
percentage Yeah so um 0% of of nothing
00:46:02
is it's nothing so there's nothing in it
00:46:05
for the manager toally totally man but
00:46:07
you know I was just backstage of Richie
00:46:09
mcco and I was I was filming an
00:46:11
interview for The Wiggles thing with him
00:46:13
and I knew that was my moment because it
00:46:14
was just me and him and I had him on
00:46:16
camera and then I asked him bro but that
00:46:19
was that was pretty cool man I've you
00:46:21
know being able to do him Dan like
00:46:24
Bowden like kind of taking off all those
00:46:27
black is is pretty cool I feel like that
00:46:29
was the first once I started cracking
00:46:32
All Blacks in the early days that was
00:46:34
the first like holy heck I'm now
00:46:37
cracking All Blacks like that felt like
00:46:38
a crazy win you know yeah have you had
00:46:41
any um um technical difficulties or
00:46:45
equipment fails where you get back to
00:46:47
the airport or something and you realize
00:46:49
you know it's erased or it hasn't been
00:46:50
recorded yeah man I filmed a monk stream
00:46:53
in the early days and I went back to my
00:46:55
computer and the sound was like
00:46:58
so I never posted it it was like proper
00:47:00
monk kit everything it was pretty cool
00:47:02
um I was filming Terry Cruz's dream in
00:47:05
February and I had free cameras going
00:47:07
and I wasn't sure how long the
00:47:09
conversation was going to go and it
00:47:10
ended up being like a 50-minute
00:47:12
conversation and one by one in the chat
00:47:16
I could hear the cameras die one by one
00:47:18
and the first camera was like and I was
00:47:20
like okay I've lost one 10 minutes later
00:47:23
and then I had one camera left but it
00:47:25
was such a great chat I didn't want to
00:47:27
interrupt and stop and by the end of it
00:47:29
when he finished I had 1 minute left on
00:47:32
battery in the last camera so that's
00:47:34
that was a very close nearly
00:47:36
unbelievable yeah Terry Terry Cruz um
00:47:38
for anyone that doesn't know um very
00:47:41
famous black actor the Old Spice Guy
00:47:43
Brooklyn 99 White Chicks man yeah he's
00:47:46
incred oh dude absolutely leg incredible
00:47:48
I've heard him on um The Diary of a CO
00:47:50
podcast as well like um not just a great
00:47:52
comedy actor but a very deep thinker as
00:47:54
well with a with a hell of a backstory
00:47:56
incredible story so cold email or yeah
00:48:00
bro I just woke up one morning and I was
00:48:02
like you know I really want to get Terry
00:48:04
Cruz's stream and I sent him a cold
00:48:05
email and 20 minutes later he got back
00:48:07
to me and was like yep let's do it one
00:48:09
week later I was in his office in LA and
00:48:12
what can you remember much about the
00:48:14
chat or what a stream was dude he shared
00:48:16
his whole story man it's such a powerful
00:48:19
story he was so he was in the NFL in his
00:48:22
20s and then um he left the NFL to
00:48:26
pursue
00:48:27
an entertainment dream cuz he said his
00:48:29
dream when he was a kid was to be famous
00:48:31
but he didn't know what for and he was
00:48:33
32 years old and he was sweeping floors
00:48:36
and he was married with two kids and
00:48:38
they were dead broke in LA but they were
00:48:41
just pursuing this dream of I'm going to
00:48:44
be an entertainment but I don't know
00:48:45
what for and he just and then he got an
00:48:49
audition for this game show and then
00:48:51
suddenly and it's just an incredible
00:48:54
story about just doing it and
00:48:57
his wife just was like I'm backing you
00:48:59
we're going to go for it we're going to
00:49:00
go to La and he said they weren't living
00:49:02
in LA but his um wife said to him we
00:49:06
could be you know we could be broke
00:49:07
anywhere so why don't we be broke in La
00:49:10
so they went to LA and they just made it
00:49:12
man and he he just shared his whole
00:49:14
story and it it was that moment that I
00:49:16
then went to my wife and I was like we
00:49:17
have to move to LA and like we just have
00:49:20
to do it he's totally right how how um
00:49:23
yeah how did how did you get your wife
00:49:24
on board with this oh well when when we
00:49:27
met I was well into it we met in 2021 so
00:49:30
I was I was very deep into it she's
00:49:33
she's been the greatest supporter man
00:49:36
she said when I went to LA in February
00:49:38
as I was leaving the house she turned to
00:49:40
me and she said Fraser go and Conquer
00:49:43
America and I was
00:49:45
like and dude it was like a I had a
00:49:48
superpower that trip cuz I was like my
00:49:50
wife like sent me on my way and I'm like
00:49:53
I'm going to go and Conquer America man
00:49:55
she is the
00:49:57
there's none of this without her man
00:49:59
yeah how did you guys mate uh we were
00:50:01
set up on like a blind group date and uh
00:50:04
we chatted for an hour and afterwards I
00:50:07
got my mate to record me on an iPhone
00:50:09
talking to the camera saying hey
00:50:11
everyone this is our future wedding so
00:50:14
you're at the wedding right now hi
00:50:16
everyone and I just knew bro I was just
00:50:18
like dude record me we're going to get
00:50:20
married and I proposed 6 months later
00:50:23
and then she made me wait a year before
00:50:25
we got married so we're G why because I
00:50:28
I move fast man yeah Ive I would have
00:50:30
been married you know within 6 months of
00:50:32
meeting
00:50:33
her suppose if you're going to if you're
00:50:35
going to spend the rest of your life
00:50:36
together yeah there's no there's no real
00:50:39
sense of
00:50:40
urgency oh that's really cool and how's
00:50:42
your yeah mentally are you in a good
00:50:44
space now I know yeah we sort of we we
00:50:47
we graced past this earlier so yeah yeah
00:50:50
so you did this thing every day for 5
00:50:51
years
00:50:53
um yeah regardless of what was going on
00:50:56
I've heard you say before yeah through
00:50:57
through the the crumbling of your first
00:50:59
marriage every damn day you were doing
00:51:01
this every day man yeah bro like the day
00:51:04
my first marriage ended I went and
00:51:06
filmed a dream like there was no days
00:51:08
off it was doesn't matter how low I was
00:51:11
I had to go and film a dream um I'm in a
00:51:14
way healthier Place bro because I've
00:51:16
kind of let go I've let go of so many
00:51:19
things I was holding on to like the
00:51:22
Peter Jackson dream I was comparing
00:51:25
myself to so many people the end of last
00:51:27
year bro um I I genuinely was thinking I
00:51:31
was doing terrible work and I was like
00:51:34
why the hell why would anyone care about
00:51:36
what I'm doing look at what this dude's
00:51:37
doing over here you know and it was
00:51:40
probably February when I really feel
00:51:42
like I embraced who I was February this
00:51:44
year February this year man months ago
00:51:46
it was that La trip when all those crazy
00:51:48
doors opened I haven't really felt
00:51:51
comparison since their trip because I've
00:51:52
kind of just embraced who I am um which
00:51:56
is like the greatest thing when you just
00:51:58
go well this is this is me I'm never
00:52:01
going to be that person and also I don't
00:52:03
want to be that person if I could swap
00:52:05
lives right now with Peter Jackson I
00:52:07
wouldn't so why am I trying to be Peter
00:52:09
Jackson you know um so why did it take
00:52:13
you so long to realize that you know
00:52:16
like Ashton coocher when did he tell you
00:52:18
you know why may may last year may last
00:52:20
yeah so why did it take till February
00:52:22
this year for you to listen to what
00:52:24
Uncle Ashton said
00:52:27
but I should call him thatle uh it's
00:52:29
because uh so much of my life identity
00:52:32
was surrounded around being at Peter
00:52:35
Jackson and winning an Oscar I had
00:52:37
almost because there's even a clip on
00:52:38
your website of you on what now when
00:52:40
you're like a little boy yeah but Studio
00:52:42
2 Studio 2 and they were even like the
00:52:44
next Peter Jackson his fras girl da d da
00:52:46
how old were you then I was 12 years old
00:52:48
man um oh dude the next day at school I
00:52:51
felt like an aess celebrity after that
00:52:54
bro being on Studio 2 back in the day
00:52:56
like dude people like who man
00:53:01
crazy um i d I don't know man I think
00:53:05
it's so easy to like hold on to your
00:53:08
dreams from your childhood and your
00:53:10
teenage years going well when I was 12 I
00:53:12
was going to be a skateboard I was going
00:53:14
to be Tony Hawk and then you kind of
00:53:16
just hold on to it and you almost feel
00:53:18
like a failure because you never
00:53:19
achieved it um and it's got only you
00:53:23
know only turning 2930 that I kind of
00:53:25
realized I was never me to achieve that
00:53:28
that wasn't who I was meant to be this
00:53:30
is
00:53:32
like I I don't even know how to explain
00:53:34
it man like when you truly just embrace
00:53:37
your own personal dream you know it's
00:53:39
easy to hold on to the dreams your
00:53:40
parents might give you or your friends
00:53:42
go oh dude you're so good at this you
00:53:44
should be this so you spend the next 10
00:53:47
years being that until you realize I
00:53:49
hate doing that I never wanted that I'm
00:53:51
only doing this because my parents said
00:53:53
I should at 16 and I feel like grew up
00:53:56
with everyone going oh my gosh filmmaker
00:53:58
you're going to be Peter Jackson you're
00:53:59
going to win Oscars that I just that was
00:54:01
almost like my ego thing I am that guy
00:54:05
and I don't want to be that guy anymore
00:54:08
man I want to be this guy but it took a
00:54:11
it took way too long to let go I think
00:54:13
yeah I don't know you still you're still
00:54:14
pretty young on the on the big scheme of
00:54:16
of a good long healthy life um there's a
00:54:19
a a thing I saw on Tik Tok it's probably
00:54:21
a little bit cheesy but it resonated
00:54:23
with me it was uh the line of something
00:54:25
like um every
00:54:26
um gets two lives and the second life
00:54:28
begins when you realize you only have
00:54:30
one oh that's so good yeah wow you know
00:54:34
what it was bro I think it was at the
00:54:35
end of last year coming out of this
00:54:37
Wiggles Doo and having a tough
00:54:40
experience that whole experience was
00:54:41
very tough was that why um riddled with
00:54:45
impostor syndrome um also maybe feeling
00:54:48
like I didn't have much of a voice you
00:54:50
know I was I was the young buck I was 20
00:54:53
years younger than everyone else in the
00:54:54
team um and it was I was just so green
00:54:58
bro I knew nothing coming into that and
00:55:00
it kicked my ass in a great way um but I
00:55:04
think I put so much power my whole life
00:55:07
into other people oh I will only achieve
00:55:09
this when this producer opens this door
00:55:11
for me or I'm waiting for my mentor to
00:55:13
make that connection before I can you
00:55:15
know and it's almost like I wasn't
00:55:17
allowing myself to do stuff and at the
00:55:20
end of last year it's almost like I woke
00:55:21
up one day and I went you know what no
00:55:23
one else is waking up in the morning
00:55:25
going how am I going to make Fraser
00:55:27
dreams come true today I am the only
00:55:29
person on the planet that is waking up
00:55:31
thinking about my dreams 100% no one's
00:55:34
no one's coming no no one if it's only
00:55:37
going to happen if I get out of bed and
00:55:39
go and kick down the door and make it
00:55:41
happen and that freed me up like crazy
00:55:44
because I almost freaked out at how long
00:55:46
I had spent in my lifetime putting power
00:55:49
onto other people and then I it was
00:55:51
November last year and then I just you
00:55:53
know booked a ticket to LA and I'm like
00:55:55
I'm not going to ask permission I'm just
00:55:57
going to do it usually I'd ask my
00:55:58
mentors going hey do you reckon I should
00:56:00
go to La and they're like oh well what I
00:56:02
just like I'm just going to book one I'm
00:56:04
just going to show up and see what
00:56:05
happens and I ended up at Scooter
00:56:07
brawn's house for an hour all because I
00:56:09
showed up at his office and that only
00:56:12
happened because I had that realization
00:56:14
that it's it's on me to make this happen
00:56:17
and that freed me up and that's probably
00:56:18
my one life moment I think yeah that's
00:56:21
really cool well you you yeah I was
00:56:23
going to say you seems like you're in a
00:56:24
really good place now but then yeah
00:56:26
you're ex to me every time I've had an
00:56:28
interaction with you it's been the same
00:56:29
phraser so I wonder if even when things
00:56:31
are going bad internally if you if
00:56:34
you're good at wearing a mask I am I'm
00:56:35
so good at wearing a mask man um and I
00:56:38
probably like I'm when I meet with
00:56:40
people I'm probably really good at
00:56:41
asking questions cuz I'm so curious and
00:56:43
I love asking questions that maybe I
00:56:45
don't ever share where I'm at even like
00:56:47
a month ago I wanted to quit 10,000
00:56:49
dreams I had a two we period a month ago
00:56:51
where I was just no motivation bro I I
00:56:54
was a r proper rut
00:56:57
um and I was just lost direction list I
00:57:00
was just I didn't want to film any
00:57:02
dreams I didn't want to edit any dreams
00:57:05
um I've come out of that since man but I
00:57:07
I'm I'm great at wearing a mask bro cuz
00:57:10
yeah I feel I feel like sometimes too
00:57:12
when I meet people they want the hey
00:57:14
what's your dream phaser and I always
00:57:16
have to be the guy say yeah you can do
00:57:18
it what's your dream and I Am Naturally
00:57:20
like that but I I definitely wear a mask
00:57:23
man what's the the Kiwi way like people
00:57:25
ask how you are but I mean it's often
00:57:27
easy just to go yeah n all good rather
00:57:30
than actually I'm having a [ __ ]
00:57:32
terrible day today totally man yeah oh
00:57:35
it's good well I'm pleased you're in a
00:57:36
good place also um
00:57:40
yeah as I've alluded to in this chat
00:57:42
like I think people are buying into your
00:57:43
vision and and that's why you're getting
00:57:45
this buy from so many cool and so many
00:57:47
diverse different people um but if you
00:57:49
decided it's not your vision anymore
00:57:51
that's cool as well like um yeah if you
00:57:53
ever decide wake up one day and you get
00:57:56
you're at 4,000 dreams and you decide
00:57:57
you don't want to do anymore no no one's
00:57:59
no one's going to be bothered man it's
00:58:01
your life that's a great great Point man
00:58:03
and it's a life mission there might be
00:58:05
more hiatuses along the way you know you
00:58:08
so you don't beat yourself up now if you
00:58:10
if you go for a week without doing one
00:58:11
no not at all right so way healthier now
00:58:14
and I put more into the quality now so I
00:58:16
try edit them in a fun way now and I put
00:58:19
way more effort into them now than I
00:58:20
ever did so for me it's less less dreams
00:58:23
now but more quality and and look look
00:58:26
dude I want to be filming dreams in 50
00:58:28
years I want to be filming my
00:58:29
grandchildren's dreams you know I don't
00:58:31
really want to be done in 10 years I I
00:58:33
love the idea of Technology evolving and
00:58:36
life evolving you know imagine doing
00:58:38
this at 80 filming you know your your
00:58:41
your grandson when he turns 21 how
00:58:43
freaking cool would that be and having
00:58:44
your whole life documented because it's
00:58:47
kind of like my life journal in a way
00:58:49
you know my whole life since the age of
00:58:51
22 every day pretty much has been
00:58:53
documented and when I watch a dream I ly
00:58:56
remember everything that happened around
00:58:59
that I remember being at edfest meeting
00:59:01
you and running up to you you know I
00:59:02
know the door we were standing outside I
00:59:04
know where I was then you know it was a
00:59:06
big deal for me filming your dream bro I
00:59:08
think filming that you and I think it
00:59:10
was Clint as well and I think JJ I
00:59:13
filmed on the same day dude that was was
00:59:16
a big deal man it was well well man it's
00:59:18
been it's been really fun um you're
00:59:20
being a spectator uh in this um this
00:59:23
passion project of yours it's been
00:59:25
really cool and um yeah just the the
00:59:28
evolution of things it's like you you
00:59:29
don't know where this is going to take
00:59:31
you and I think that's part of the
00:59:32
exciting thing right 100% man like half
00:59:35
the stuff just opens up overnight and I
00:59:38
think I'm I'm available and I'm ready
00:59:40
for opportunity I think that's a big
00:59:42
thing is I'm I'm prepared to jump on a
00:59:44
plane in two hours to go film Obama's
00:59:46
dream in America for two minutes if it
00:59:49
opened up I would be prepared to do that
00:59:52
and so it's just so exciting man like we
00:59:55
me and my wife life is just so like we
00:59:57
just it's so random man because there's
00:59:59
no consistency you know like we're
01:00:01
literally going to America for 2 months
01:00:03
and then we're going to EUR um England
01:00:05
afterwards and you just we kind of don't
01:00:07
know where we are we don't know where we
01:00:09
live we're kind of just on the road but
01:00:11
it's it's just an adventure yeah I love
01:00:14
that I love that yeah you're making the
01:00:16
most have you guys got kids no not yet
01:00:19
oh with that that's going to we're
01:00:22
milking until we have kids
01:00:24
Friday that will change
01:00:26
do you have a kid no no okay JJ and I
01:00:29
had um uh we were together we had like a
01:00:31
there was like a family adoption like a
01:00:33
fostering situation but he's an adult
01:00:36
now so he's he's all good but yeah I was
01:00:38
unable to have my own kids so the family
01:00:41
adoption was like a good experience but
01:00:44
um your friends of mine that have had
01:00:45
kids yeah yeah I think it'll be
01:00:49
interesting to see uh like the
01:00:51
transition or you where the dreams
01:00:53
project sits when that comes along might
01:00:55
have to go back bur for a little bit but
01:00:57
that's part of the fun of life right it
01:00:58
is man I think that's why the wins are
01:01:00
so inspiring for us cuz they continued
01:01:02
doing what they did with kids with
01:01:04
babies I mean imagine that man imagine
01:01:06
having like your six-year-old coming to
01:01:08
every dream with you and getting to a
01:01:10
point where your six-year-old's holding
01:01:11
a c handicam or even asking what's your
01:01:14
dream and I'm filming it you know like
01:01:17
that's definitely a dream for me well I
01:01:19
love that um you're a good
01:01:22
dude your your enthusiasm and positivity
01:01:25
is infectious thank you D and um whether
01:01:28
it's whether it's continuing on this
01:01:29
journey or it's something else I'm so
01:01:31
excited man to see what you do in the
01:01:32
future because um you you deserve all
01:01:35
the rewards that come your way dude that
01:01:37
means so much man thank you and I
01:01:38
absolutely love what you're doing bro
01:01:40
you're great at
01:01:42
this keep going keep going man yeah
01:01:45
we'll do we'll do thanks bro love your
01:01:47
work thank you
01:01:54
man e
