2024 Predictions on Tech, Business, and the Election

December 19, 2023 / 10:06

This episode covers predictions about U.S. politics, international relations, and economic trends. Scott and his co-host discuss the normalization of relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel, the potential for U.S.-China relations to improve, and the impact of inflation on political stability.

Scott predicts that Saudi Arabia and Israel will normalize relations, which could lead to economic benefits and a more stable region. He mentions President Biden's military presence in the area as a factor in this potential peace.

He also forecasts a significant tax cut in 2024 due to improving U.S.-China relations, emphasizing the importance of cooperation between the two largest economies to combat inflation.

The conversation shifts to the travel industry, with Scott noting that younger generations may prioritize travel over home ownership due to rising costs, leading to a boom in travel stocks.

Lastly, they discuss the upcoming presidential election, with predictions about Joe Biden's chances against Donald Trump and the implications of third-party candidates on the election outcome.

TL;DR

Scott predicts geopolitical shifts, economic trends, and the impact of inflation on U.S. politics and travel in 2024.

00:00:00
now it's time for our predictions of
00:00:02
which we're not ready at all but go for
00:00:04
it Scott you start and I'll think of one
00:00:05
while you're talking uh okay so I'm just
00:00:08
randomly picking three U and I can't
00:00:11
help but play um a geopolitical
00:00:13
commentator on television so um I've
00:00:16
said this before I think that the
00:00:18
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Israel are
00:00:21
going to normalize relations and I'm I'm
00:00:24
I'm I'd like to think that peace and
00:00:26
prosperity have a are going to have a
00:00:27
second chance or new Newfound Vigor as
00:00:30
the two largest economies normalize
00:00:32
relations I think I think that President
00:00:34
Biden sending these carrier strike
00:00:36
forces has ring Fen the conflict I think
00:00:38
the whole world is coming to the
00:00:41
important recognition that you can have
00:00:43
empathy for one side and that doesn't
00:00:46
immediately prohibit you from having
00:00:48
empathy for the other and I'm so I'm I'm
00:00:51
just hopeful that uh the normalization
00:00:54
of relationships relations between the
00:00:56
kingdom and Israel will create a lot of
00:00:58
economic incen to maintain something
00:01:01
resembling a peace I'd also say that
00:01:03
it's not possible with the current
00:01:04
leadership on either side but anyways
00:01:07
longer conversation normalization of
00:01:09
normalization of relations in 2024
00:01:11
between the kingdom and Israel I believe
00:01:13
that the world's largest tax cut or in
00:01:17
history is about to take place in 2024
00:01:19
as the US and China and Chinese
00:01:22
relationship relations thaw I think
00:01:24
there's going to be a new bear hug I
00:01:27
think that inflation in the United
00:01:28
States is an existential threat across
00:01:31
not only the United States but
00:01:32
governments are overthrown if Roy weight
00:01:34
is overturned people are upset about it
00:01:36
but only a small very small number of
00:01:38
households are actually impacted
00:01:39
inflation hits people every day and it's
00:01:42
literally the number one cause of why
00:01:43
governments are overthrown or or
00:01:45
political parties have thrown out of
00:01:46
office so the US and the West have an
00:01:49
inflation problem China has hit real
00:01:52
roadblocks economically whether you look
00:01:54
at their stock market some of their
00:01:56
biggest real estate um companies going
00:01:58
out of business
00:02:00
and with a onep party system if you have
00:02:03
economic Calamity you you you tempt or
00:02:06
you risk Revolution and I think that
00:02:08
while two years ago they were definitely
00:02:11
feeling um very emboldened I think China
00:02:14
now recognizes that uh they're they
00:02:17
cannot take their economic growth for
00:02:19
granted they have had real economic
00:02:22
issues the last two years and the
00:02:23
fastest way out of inflation and to
00:02:26
renew economic growth across the largest
00:02:28
and second largest economies in the
00:02:29
world are for the two to kiss and make
00:02:31
up and the IP and innovation of us
00:02:35
combined with the industrial
00:02:36
manufacturing might of China creates
00:02:39
every single product in the world for a
00:02:41
lower price and a higher quality and
00:02:43
that chocolate and peanut butter of 88%
00:02:45
of your toys under the Christmas tree
00:02:47
which come from China being a little
00:02:48
less expensive every year uh is going to
00:02:52
uh the incentives are lining up for both
00:02:54
parties to put their differences aside
00:02:57
and re-embrace each other so
00:02:58
normalization or or thawing of us Ceno
00:03:01
relations in 2024 all right and I think
00:03:04
my final one is okay keep going my final
00:03:06
one is I think
00:03:07
um I think that um we're going to see
00:03:10
actually two more massive amount of
00:03:12
disinformation from Ai and q1 and Q2
00:03:14
said this before around the election and
00:03:17
uh my my I think travel stocks are
00:03:20
ranging from Expedia to I don't know
00:03:23
with another Airbnb I'm by the way I'm a
00:03:26
holder on Airbnb not an not an Expedia
00:03:28
are going to
00:03:30
boom I think the travel industry is
00:03:31
going to boom and unfortunately there's
00:03:33
a very dark side to this and I think the
00:03:35
reason they're going to Boom is I think
00:03:37
people in their 20s a lot of them have
00:03:39
just given up on the traditional uh
00:03:41
dream of owning a home and because
00:03:43
they're no longer saving two 3 five
00:03:46
grand a year in hopes of moving into a
00:03:47
home in the late 20s early 30s they're
00:03:50
going to be they're going to have more
00:03:51
disposable income and they're going to
00:03:52
decide to spend it on travel is the
00:03:53
traditional American dream of buying a
00:03:55
home has just becomes kind of Out Of
00:03:57
Reach for them and I think the travel
00:03:59
industry is going to be the unfortunate
00:04:01
beneficiary of all this additional
00:04:02
disposable income that traditionally has
00:04:03
gone into saving for People's First home
00:04:05
14 million homes have been formed in the
00:04:08
last 10 years and only 11 million homes
00:04:09
have been built average cost of a home
00:04:12
pre- pandemic was 290 it's now 420 and
00:04:14
then you couple that with interest rates
00:04:15
going from 3% to 7% the American dream
00:04:18
is now a hallucination for most people
00:04:21
when it comes to home ownership and I
00:04:22
think people are going to spend more
00:04:23
money on travel travel stocks to Boom
00:04:26
wow that's a lot wow that's a lot of
00:04:28
them all right I have uh two I think one
00:04:31
I think big one um I don't think Donald
00:04:34
Trump is going to be the president of
00:04:35
the United States I think Joe Biden's
00:04:37
going to win and I'm going to say that
00:04:39
now um I know these polls are going this
00:04:41
way I think the American people have had
00:04:43
it with him and the more you see of of
00:04:45
uncle crazy the less you're going to
00:04:47
like what you see and remind you of bad
00:04:49
times I don't think you're going to
00:04:50
remember the tax cuts I don't think you
00:04:52
remember anything else and I think the
00:04:54
people will start to feel better about
00:04:55
the economy uh over the next year so I
00:04:58
think um I think the age thing is a
00:05:00
significant issue obviously but he's
00:05:02
been doing so well and uh and I think
00:05:04
people are just going to bite the bullet
00:05:07
and and vote for Joe Biden and also the
00:05:10
there's some real signs the Republican
00:05:11
National Committee is way down in
00:05:13
fundraising both small donor and big
00:05:15
donor everybody people don't want to
00:05:17
give money that it's going to help
00:05:18
Donald Trump I think and people are very
00:05:20
nervous about so I would I'm gonna go
00:05:22
out on limb he's not going to be the
00:05:23
president I think we should calm the
00:05:25
[ __ ] down I don't think he will I think
00:05:26
it'd be a disaster obviously uh but I
00:05:28
don't think the American
00:05:30
every time there's that Kansas thing
00:05:31
happening or what happened in Michigan
00:05:33
with the judge or they always go the
00:05:35
other way that everyone is predicting
00:05:37
and these right-wingers are like we've
00:05:39
got it now Glenn yunen and they and I
00:05:41
said the same thing about Glen yonen I
00:05:43
was talking to a lot of people I think
00:05:44
people want to move on and there should
00:05:46
be a the only caveat is this is these
00:05:49
third party things and we'll see there
00:05:51
could be issues around that um but I
00:05:54
have I just have this feeling people are
00:05:56
like let's just stick with the captain
00:05:59
you a good gut on predictions around
00:06:01
politics let me ask you a couple
00:06:02
follow-ups do you think Trump go do you
00:06:04
think Trump goes to jail yes yes every
00:06:06
lawyer I talk to there's no way pre or
00:06:08
post election well as long as he gets
00:06:11
convicted before the election if not he
00:06:13
can pardon himself or there'll be a
00:06:14
whole mess of things but that'll be his
00:06:16
whole Administration is him parting
00:06:17
himself and not getting anything done so
00:06:19
it'll be about him he'll be just
00:06:21
outrageous and it'll be a useless waste
00:06:23
of our time and I don't think people
00:06:24
want to waste their time anymore um so
00:06:27
what about these third party candidates
00:06:28
do you think Joe mansion going to run do
00:06:29
you think R I think he doesn't have the
00:06:31
set I don't speaking of small no I don't
00:06:34
think he has the set I think he's a
00:06:36
egomaniac and a narcissist but I don't
00:06:38
think he has what it takes I think he
00:06:39
likes to be in the middle of things but
00:06:42
not the hard work of of being a
00:06:44
president and uh doing the things it
00:06:46
takes I even think Trump has got more of
00:06:48
a stamina than Joe Mansion I think both
00:06:51
of them do I don't think he has stamina
00:06:53
I don't know but I think RFK will fade
00:06:55
as people get to know more about him uh
00:06:57
I think young people being n I know a
00:06:59
lot of people posted about going home
00:07:01
and all these young people saying I'm
00:07:03
not going to vote for Joe Joe Biden
00:07:05
because of the Israel thing that's a
00:07:06
year from now I think when they're faced
00:07:08
with Donald Trump they're not going to
00:07:10
pull the they're not going to stay home
00:07:12
and they're not gonna they know what
00:07:14
that means I think people will man up
00:07:16
and do the right thing anyway that's my
00:07:19
on that um and in Tech um I I I think
00:07:23
the justice department might win this
00:07:24
case with Google I don't know it's
00:07:26
looking that way isn't it I think they
00:07:28
will I think uh got a good case I think
00:07:30
it's a backward-looking case and they
00:07:32
should be focusing on forward-looking
00:07:34
things but that's not the Justice
00:07:35
Department's job here um so I do think
00:07:37
they're going to win it I don't know
00:07:38
what the real repercussions will be
00:07:40
because it's a it's a it's a it's a
00:07:41
story of the past and um search
00:07:44
certainly has changed that shouldn't be
00:07:46
Google's defense here from what they did
00:07:48
then right it can't say well murder's
00:07:50
legal now or whatever you know uh they
00:07:53
they don't have a excuse what happened
00:07:54
happened and I think they'll probably
00:07:56
have an issue I think they will lose
00:07:58
this case and then it'll just keep keep
00:07:59
going on and on um but I do think the
00:08:01
government might Prevail here uh I don't
00:08:04
know about these Facebook cases but
00:08:05
definitely um uh they've got a higher
00:08:09
bar to prove on things but they they C
00:08:12
it certainly looks like maybe a good
00:08:13
year for for for at least the Justice
00:08:16
fit not so much for regulatory uh bodies
00:08:19
necessarily just a prediction on top of
00:08:20
a prediction if if they are in fact
00:08:23
found guilty and the remedy may be the
00:08:26
breakup and it's not entirely clear even
00:08:29
if they are found guilty if that would
00:08:31
be the remedy but if the remedy looks
00:08:32
like it's going to be a breakout Google
00:08:35
stock will outperform every other big
00:08:37
that's prob in 2024 you are 100% right
00:08:40
sir YouTube is a juggernaut on its own I
00:08:44
mean obviously search is just the
00:08:45
ultimate toll booth and if they were to
00:08:48
spin their Ai and Cloud division
00:08:50
together the some of the parts Google on
00:08:52
a multiple of Revenue basis is cheaper
00:08:55
than every other Big T Tech you're 100%
00:08:58
right there you're 100% 100% right about
00:09:00
that I think that'll be interesting
00:09:01
you're right it could be I would spin
00:09:02
off YouTube If I were there um they've
00:09:05
got plenty there to work with um so
00:09:07
we'll see those are my predictions I
00:09:08
like basic hope you're right hope you're
00:09:10
right on all of that uh I I shall be I
00:09:13
am good on the on the political stuff
00:09:15
seem to be good on the I just think
00:09:16
people will be once they see that guy
00:09:18
again they've seen little bits of him
00:09:19
they'll be like oh that guy that guy oh
00:09:22
I hate I hope you're right the data says
00:09:24
we're both wrong every time does no the
00:09:27
data doesn't the polling does the
00:09:29
polling was wrong about everything and
00:09:30
I'm sorry I just don't believe polls I
00:09:32
think there's a silent majority of
00:09:34
people who just want to move on from him
00:09:37
first might want to move on from Biden
00:09:39
but they really want to move on from him
00:09:41
last night as I said I'm I'm alone I was
00:09:43
alone had an edible and I took a poll
00:09:46
and stuck it up my ass all right and
00:09:50
we're going to do that I'll be here I'll
00:09:52
we try the be let me tell you one other
00:09:54
prediction Scott will continue to make
00:09:56
tasteless jokes no matter what I do and
00:09:58
I'm thinking of call in the Justice
00:10:04
Department
