Unsolved Mysteries with Dennis Farina - Season 6, Episode 13

March 09, 2017 / 42:54

This episode of Unsolved Mysteries covers five true stories: a lightning strike survivor, a missing CIA pilot, a businessman’s murder, a con artist’s escape, and a father searching for his son.

Robert Davidson, a motorcycle rider, survives a lightning strike thanks to a mysterious woman in black who claims she can heal him. Witnesses report strange occurrences during the incident, and Davidson believes her presence was miraculous.

Jeffrey Sullivan, a CIA pilot, disappears during a covert mission over the Caribbean. His daughter, Sherry Sullivan, investigates his fate and uncovers possible connections to Cuba, including unverified sightings of her father in a Cuban jail.

Jack Brown, a real estate agent in Michigan, is murdered in an execution-style hit. The motive remains unclear, leading to speculation about Brown's possible double life and connections to powerful individuals.

Geraldine Elizabeth Carmichael, a con artist, is revealed to be Jerry Dean Michael after jumping bail. He is later apprehended and returned to serve his sentence, while his fraudulent car prototype becomes part of a museum collection.

TL;DR

A lightning strike survivor, a missing CIA pilot, a murder mystery, a con artist's escape, and a father's reunion with his son are featured.

imaginable yes well I talked to two of
00:01:51
the guys yesterday they seem to be uh
00:01:53
excited about this Maxwell Carson was a
00:01:55
smooth talker who owned and operated a
00:01:58
sports betting business an upand
00:02:00
cominging film company and a modeling
00:02:03
agency but Max Carson was a man with a
00:02:06
dark past he was an ex police officer
00:02:10
gone
00:02:11
bad his real name was William John Wood
00:02:15
in
00:02:16
1972 he resigned from the Toledo Ohio
00:02:19
police force he was under investigation
00:02:23
for
00:02:23
misconduct wood sered time for a number
00:02:26
of offenses including assault with
00:02:29
intent to
00:02:31
rape okay when he was released from
00:02:34
prison wood moved to Las Vegas and
00:02:37
created a new identity producer and star
00:02:41
maker Max
00:02:43
Carson Max was absolutely obsessed with
00:02:46
good-look women okay he would especially
00:02:49
with actresses models any good-look
00:02:51
women use his clout as quote unquote a
00:02:55
movie producer to be uh could get them
00:03:00
whatever they
00:03:01
wanted Tiffany yes hi Mr Carson will see
00:03:05
now when Carson held auditions for a
00:03:08
film he was producing a 19-year-old
00:03:10
model who we'll call Tiffany showed up
00:03:13
for an interview Hi how are you great
00:03:16
thank you have a have a
00:03:18
seat you're I'm Tiffany Tiffany yes I
00:03:21
have to I went in I talked to him he
00:03:24
told me a little bit about what the
00:03:25
movie was about and uh what I would be
00:03:28
doing I think there a ro there for you
00:03:30
of course the speaking part that'd be
00:03:33
wonderful he had started talking about
00:03:35
money and I felt strange that he would
00:03:38
offer a large amount of money to someone
00:03:40
in my position that's never really had
00:03:41
any acting before so I talked to a
00:03:44
couple agents and they had all heard of
00:03:46
him they had done their homework on him
00:03:49
and found that there was nothing wrong
00:03:50
with him Super Why were you got your
00:03:53
address and phone number and how to get
00:03:54
in touch with you and I appreciate you
00:03:55
coming in thank you thank you very nice
00:03:58
short time later the movie fell through
00:04:00
and Carson's business began to
00:04:04
collapse we have employees that haven't
00:04:07
been PID now Bob just relax have fa
00:04:10
Carson shut down his offices but he
00:04:13
pretended that he was still in business
00:04:16
hello like to speak to Tiffany 3 months
00:04:18
after her interview he called Tiffany
00:04:21
and hired her as a last minute
00:04:23
replacement model for a photo
00:04:26
shoot Carson arranged to meet her later
00:04:29
that day at a restaurant on the Strip
00:04:32
man oh hi we're all set up we get uh two
00:04:35
rooms set up I've met him in front of
00:04:37
the coffee shop and he said that we
00:04:40
needed to go to a motel there where they
00:04:44
had set up a dressing room for me here's
00:04:47
the lemine we're going to be using and
00:04:49
uh oh I want to thank you very much for
00:04:50
coming here on a short notice this uh
00:04:52
shoot should be probably about 2 hours
00:04:54
you be done and those dresss are just
00:04:56
fine I started to um feel a little UNC
00:04:59
comfortable just because there was no
00:05:01
one around Tiffany why don't you just go
00:05:03
over there and fill out those forms and
00:05:04
I'll make a call I left the door open
00:05:07
with my bag sitting in between the room
00:05:10
and the door so that it would make it a
00:05:12
little bit difficult to get the door
00:05:14
shut uh this is Max Carson listen I'm
00:05:17
expecting somebody in very shortly and
00:05:19
uh supposedly he was calling the makeup
00:05:22
artist and uh the photographer to let
00:05:25
them know that we're here and waiting
00:05:27
yes okay well I appreciate that thank
00:05:29
thank you very much and about that time
00:05:31
he had asked me if I would give him a
00:05:34
hug and I knew that I was in trouble um
00:05:38
max I don't feel very comfortable okay
00:05:41
um I'm going what do you mean you don't
00:05:44
feel very comfortable let just forget
00:05:45
about the whole thing
00:05:47
next you're not going
00:05:50
anywhere don't make a sound do what I
00:05:52
say and I won't hurt
00:05:54
you I thought at that point that I was
00:05:57
going to
00:05:58
die I tried very hard to cooperate
00:06:02
hoping that that would keep him from
00:06:05
becoming more
00:06:09
violent after the assault Carson let
00:06:11
Tiffany go she immediately called the
00:06:14
police even though he had threatened to
00:06:17
accuse her of prostitution if she did
00:06:21
Carson was charged with kidnapping
00:06:23
sexual assault and battery but by then
00:06:26
he had
00:06:28
disappeared 2 months later Carson
00:06:31
surfaced in Coco Beach
00:06:33
Florida once again he tried to work a
00:06:36
scan on a beautiful woman hi I hope I
00:06:39
didn't keep you waiting no I just got
00:06:41
here well I've been here before why
00:06:43
don't you uh we go upstairs in the
00:06:45
lounge um how about downstairs I just
00:06:47
Carson and the woman had arranged to
00:06:48
meet in a Lobby of a hotel but he wanted
00:06:51
to continue their conversation in a
00:06:54
private room upstairs Carson had
00:06:57
convinced the woman to accept money for
00:07:01
sex get
00:07:03
upstairs Beach police you're under
00:07:05
arrest
00:07:07
solicitation Max Carson had walked into
00:07:10
a clever trap the woman was wearing a
00:07:13
hidden microphone as part of a sting
00:07:16
operation he pleaded guilty to
00:07:18
solicitation of a prostitution but
00:07:21
police in Florida had no idea that he
00:07:24
was wanted in Las Vegas 2 Days Later
00:07:28
Carson was released from jail and
00:07:30
disappeared once
00:07:33
again only then did police discover his
00:07:37
true
00:07:41
identity
00:07:45
update William John Wood has been
00:07:48
captured one of our viewers phoned the
00:07:50
FBI after recognizing wood as San
00:07:53
Francisco resident Brian oy he was
00:07:57
returned to Las Vegas to stand trial and
00:08:00
was sentenced to 6 years for coercion
00:08:03
and 20 years for attempted sexual
00:08:06
assault he served his time and has been

00:08:12
released next a plane vanishes while on
00:08:15
a secret mission one eyewitness claims
00:08:19
that he saw the pilot in a Cuban jail
00:08:30
on an early autumn day in the middle of
00:08:32
the Cold War 28-year-old Jeffrey
00:08:36
Sullivan a former Air Force pilot
00:08:38
prepared to depart on a secret
00:08:42
mission the way my mom relates it my
00:08:45
father was supposed to come back in 5
00:08:47
days give you a call as soon as I get a
00:08:49
chance to I don't know if he was nervous
00:08:51
but he gave her his St Christoper medal
00:08:54
which he wore all the
00:08:55
time he explained to her that this would
00:08:58
be his last trip not because he wasn't
00:09:01
coming back but because he didn't want
00:09:03
to be involved in this type of operation
00:09:07
anymore he took off that morning and
00:09:10
that was the last time she ever saw
00:09:12
him he never came
00:09:15
back 4 days later Jeffrey disappeared
00:09:18
Somewhere over the
00:09:20
Caribbean Sherry Sullivan was only 7
00:09:23
years old when she lost her father years
00:09:26
later she became a private investigator
00:09:28
and one of her toughest cases was
00:09:30
uncovering the truth about her father's
00:09:33
disappearance no one wanted to say he
00:09:36
wasn't coming back as it rolled into the
00:09:38
years it was a kind of thing that just
00:09:40
wasn't talked about I mean no one knew
00:09:41
what to say none of us were ever allowed
00:09:44
to go through a grieving process because
00:09:47
as far as we were concerned he wasn't
00:09:49
dead Jeffrey Sullivan earned his Air
00:09:52
Force Wings in
00:09:54
1957 after receiving his honorable
00:09:56
discharge in 1959
00:09:59
became a freelance commercial
00:10:03
pilot at about that time Fidel Castro's
00:10:07
Revolution swept through Cuba the
00:10:10
Communist threat was now only 90 mi from
00:10:13
American
00:10:16
Shores once cro took power the US
00:10:19
government and several Cuban Exile
00:10:21
groups launched campaigns to overthrow
00:10:24
his regime it was the shadowy world of
00:10:27
these covert operations that may have
00:10:30
cost Jeffrey Sullivan his
00:10:33
life Jeffrey Alex in
00:10:36
1961 a suspected CIA operative named
00:10:40
Alex R hired Jeffrey as a pilot for
00:10:43
sacred missions against Cuba their
00:10:47
covert actions range from Distributing
00:10:49
anti-castro leaflets to dropping Boom
00:10:54
boms at the Bay of Pigs that same year
00:10:57
us backed Cuban Exiles failed in their
00:11:00
attempt to invade the island and
00:11:02
overthrow Castro 18 months later Soviet
00:11:06
missiles were discovered in Cuba for 7
00:11:09
Days the world was on the brink of
00:11:12
nuclear
00:11:13
war after the Missile Crisis operations
00:11:16
against Cuba were still carried on by
00:11:19
the US government but uh they were
00:11:21
trying to be more discreet about it they
00:11:24
did shed some of the more Loose Cannon
00:11:27
operations and I think Al rocks could
00:11:30
have been classified as such there was a
00:11:33
public order uh to men like uh Alexander
00:11:37
roor and Jeffrey Sullivan to stop their
00:11:40
operations against Cuba
00:11:43
[Music]
00:11:45
altoe 8 days after the warning was
00:11:48
issued Jeffrey left Connecticut the next
00:11:51
day he was seen in Fort Lauderdale
00:11:53
Florida with Alex R there Jeffrey and RK
00:11:58
met with two two men one of them was
00:12:01
Frank Sturgis who had also been named in
00:12:04
the public warning years later Sturgis
00:12:07
would become well known for his role in
00:12:09
the Water Gate scandal BR told me he did
00:12:13
buy a B25 bomber and he wanted to take
00:12:16
the
00:12:17
B25 to Nicaragua he wanted to sit down
00:12:21
and talk with General Samosa in order
00:12:23
to have a base of operations in
00:12:26
Nicaragua for bombing missions inside of
00:12:30
Sturgis convinced Ro to meet with
00:12:32
Nicaraguan officials and clear the way
00:12:35
the men rented an airplane and plan to
00:12:37
leave for Nicaragua the following
00:12:41
day that morning R's wife drove him to
00:12:45
the opalak airport in Fort bdale on the
00:12:48
way he picked up another man Mrs Rog
00:12:52
didn't know who this gentleman was he
00:12:54
spoke broken English but she drove the
00:12:57
both of them to the airport where my
00:12:59
father was and dropped them
00:13:02
off the twin engine plane took off from
00:13:04
Fort Lauderdale with Jeffrey Alex rook
00:13:08
and the mysterious stranger Frank
00:13:10
Sturgis stayed
00:13:13
behind Jeffrey Sullivan's activities
00:13:16
over the next 48 hours still cannot be
00:13:19
fully explained according to the FAA
00:13:24
investigation jeffy's flight activities
00:13:26
were highly unusual
00:13:30
he would return to Fort Lauderdale three
00:13:32
times for some reason on his third trip
00:13:35
to the airport the plane's landing gear
00:13:38
remained in the appear to be upep to the
00:13:42
right and go
00:13:45
round Sullivan did not attempt to land
00:13:48
at Fort Lauderdale
00:13:51
again Sullivan did finally land at North
00:13:54
Perry Airport a mere 30 m from Fort
00:13:58
Lauderdale but he took a suspiciously
00:14:01
long time getting there what should have
00:14:04
been a 25-minute flight had taken nearly
00:14:07
5 hours no one knows where the plane was
00:14:10
during that time after refueling Jeffrey
00:14:14
and his passengers took off again the
00:14:17
flight plan listed to gooy Gala Honduras
00:14:20
as their final
00:14:22
destination a little more than 2 hours
00:14:24
later Sullivan radioed the tower at
00:14:27
Miami International Airport this time he
00:14:30
filed a new flight plan this time he
00:14:33
listed tuman Panama as his
00:14:36
destination Sullivan attempted to file a
00:14:39
flight plan for a destination that was
00:14:41
some 2 hours beyond the normal range of
00:14:43
his aircraft when he was informed of
00:14:46
this by the air traffic controller on
00:14:48
duty he then changed his destination
00:14:52
however this destination was also well
00:14:55
beyond the range of the aircraft he was
00:14:58
flying
00:15:00
s more hours passed with no contact from
00:15:04
the plane finally at 10:22 p.m. Sullivan
00:15:09
again radioed the Miami
00:15:11
Tower this time he filed a flight plan
00:15:14
for
00:15:15
B the FAA says that Sullivan refueled
00:15:19
just after midnight in Kel Mexico this
00:15:22
was the last sighting of the
00:15:24
plane Jeffrey Sullivan and his
00:15:27
companions were assumed lost at
00:15:31
sea despite a massive search no trace of
00:15:34
the plane or its passengers was ever
00:15:40
found more than two decades later Sher
00:15:43
Sullivan and her attorney petitioned the
00:15:46
government for information concerning
00:15:48
her father they received over 5,000
00:15:52
pages of documentation from 14 federal
00:15:56
agencies including the FBI and
00:15:59
CIA more than a third of the 800 Pages
00:16:03
received from the FBI were censored
00:16:06
according to Sherry information found in
00:16:09
these documents indicates that at least
00:16:11
400 more pages exist but were withheld
00:16:15
for national security reasons it was
00:16:18
almost really the confirmation we were
00:16:20
looking for in a way saying there is
00:16:21
something here in the FBI documents Sher
00:16:25
found the name Floyd Park she finally
00:16:29
reached him by phone Park told Sherry
00:16:33
that he had seen her father 2 days after
00:16:36
he supposedly
00:16:38
disappeared Floyd Park indicated that he
00:16:41
had seen my father and Alex and a
00:16:44
Spanish fella in
00:16:46
Biz we have not been able to verify the
00:16:49
identity of Floyd Park who he is really
00:16:52
and what he was involved in in the 60s
00:16:54
how my father would have known him why
00:16:56
they would have stopped to see him we
00:16:58
weren't really able to get those answers
00:17:00
from him Sher only talked to park once
00:17:04
and has not been able to reach him since
00:17:06
but Park did say that her father and Ro
00:17:09
might have been taken prisoner in Cuba
00:17:13
Fidel Castro from what I've heard had a
00:17:16
bounty out on my father and Alex he knew
00:17:18
what they were involved in he knew they
00:17:19
were going in out of his country so this
00:17:22
a very good possibility that they could
00:17:24
have ended up in Cuba probably some way
00:17:27
they they landed in Cuba during her
00:17:31
investigation Sherry spoke with Marty
00:17:33
Casey who was in Cuba 2 years after her
00:17:37
father
00:17:39
disappeared I was with two Cuban Exiles
00:17:41
from Miami and they met a fellow that
00:17:44
they knew from the area he was working
00:17:46
in the compound he recognized my
00:17:48
American accent I was speaking Spanish
00:17:50
and he asked me you know rori and I said
00:17:54
what do you mean
00:17:55
o no Ry the pilot no
00:17:59
no no the other guy was the pilot is
00:18:01
Sullivan and I said well how do you know
00:18:03
them and they he said uh I was in jail
00:18:06
here with him two years
00:18:08
ago another name Sherry found in the FBI
00:18:11
documents was Enrique Molino Garcia
00:18:15
supposedly a double agent for Castro's
00:18:17
government Sherry believes Garcia was
00:18:21
the mysterious third man on the plane
00:18:24
and that he tricked her father and roor
00:18:26
into flying to Cuba unconfirmed reports
00:18:30
have placed Garcia in Havana years after
00:18:33
sher's father
00:18:35
disappeared today Sherry believes that
00:18:38
her father was most likely jailed in
00:18:40
Cuba and either died there or was
00:18:46
executed on the 40th anniversary of
00:18:48
Jeffrey Sullivan's disappearance a
00:18:51
commemorative grave marker was unveiled
00:18:53
in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in
00:18:56
Augusta Maine the veterans
00:18:59
Administration is the first and only
00:19:01
government agency to officially
00:19:04
recognize Jeffrey Sullivan as missing in
00:19:07
action Sher Sullivan has not given up
00:19:11
hope that she will someday discover her
00:19:13
father's
00:19:18
fate coming up lightning leaves a man
00:19:21
close to death who was the mysterious
00:19:24
stranger claiming that she had the power
00:19:27
to heal

Acton
00:19:39
Indiana Robert Davidson is riding his
00:19:42
motorcycle down Interstate 74 enjoying a
00:19:46
warm June day and then it starts to
00:19:50
rain when you're driving 60 65 mph on a
00:19:54
motorcycle when raindrops hit you it's
00:19:57
really pretty stingy it
00:20:00
hurts and I thought better pull over and
00:20:03
get my rain jacket out of the trunk had
00:20:06
one foot on the ground and that's the
00:20:08
last thing I can
00:20:15
remember it was a direct hit 200,000
00:20:20
volts of electricity Robert should have
00:20:22
died right there on the spot but today
00:20:25
he is very much alive thanks to what he
00:20:28
believes
00:20:29
was a miracle delivered personally by a
00:20:32
messenger of
00:20:35
God paramedics were on the scene within
00:20:38
minutes of the lightning
00:20:40
strike clinically he should have been
00:20:42
dead by the color of his skin and when
00:20:45
we arrived there was no blood pressure
00:20:46
no
00:20:47
pulse basically he had no chance at all
00:20:52
I'm going to need a chopper in here
00:20:53
right away this guy's in bad shape
00:20:55
according to Witnesses what happened
00:20:57
next seemed almost Supernatural first
00:21:01
every Power circuit in the ambulance
00:21:04
failed at
00:21:08
once and the engine shut down the lights
00:21:11
turned off and it was without power
00:21:13
completely we got dual batteries One
00:21:16
battery would go down the other one take
00:21:18
over and uh there's no way they could
00:21:21
have both gone down at the same time it
00:21:23
was an eerie feeling I mean you could
00:21:26
just it felt strange and as they were
00:21:28
doing the CPR you heard this woman
00:21:31
coming up yelling I need to touch him I
00:21:33
need to touch him just let me touch him
00:21:35
I must touch him nobody knew her name or
00:21:39
where she came from later she was
00:21:41
referred to as the lady in black she
00:21:45
just kept again and again and again you
00:21:47
know I can save his life and of course
00:21:49
you know at that point in time I kind of
00:21:50
thought well maybe this is just uh one
00:21:53
of the people so to speak left over from
00:21:54
the 70s you
00:21:56
know but I said you know let her do what
00:21:59
she needs to do you know what can it
00:22:01
hurt the Lord is my shepherd I shall not
00:22:04
want he maketh me to lie down in Green
00:22:06
Pastures he leadth me beside the Still
00:22:09
Waters he Le me she was dressed in the
00:22:11
late 1800 dress your basic black dress
00:22:14
and she had the oldfashioned black shoes
00:22:17
that went with it and carried her little
00:22:19
black Bible then uh she raised Bible to
00:22:22
the sky and started speaking in tongue
00:22:25
uh which um was something I didn't
00:22:28
understand stand but I'm sure somebody
00:22:30
out there
00:22:33
did you could just feel all the time
00:22:35
that she was saying it's just chills
00:22:38
from head to toe it was like just this
00:22:40
tremendous amount of
00:22:43
[Applause]
00:22:45
energy when she was finished she looked
00:22:48
at me smiled and got up and walked
00:22:50
away probably 5 Seconds had passed by
00:22:53
and I turned to look the direction where
00:22:56
she had left and there was nobody to be
00:22:59
found but reports from that day seemed
00:23:01
to contradict each other some
00:23:04
eyewitnesses including two of the
00:23:06
paramedics insist that the mysterious
00:23:09
woman was never there I don't know why
00:23:12
they couldn't see her really because it
00:23:14
was plain as day to me it was plain as
00:23:15
day to Randy you know why couldn't
00:23:17
anyone else see her or hear her there is
00:23:20
no doubt in my mind but she was there I
00:23:24
believe there was a power that actually
00:23:26
shut the vehicle down a surge which just
00:23:30
obliterated the vehicle's power supply
00:23:32
and shut it down when this woman walked
00:23:35
by but according to those who saw the
00:23:38
lady in Black the moment she vanished
00:23:41
the ambulance came back to life and then
00:23:45
I've got it I've got a pulse so did
00:23:47
Robert
00:23:48
Davidson it was a welcome to hear that
00:23:51
first
00:23:52
heartbeat and I yelled again I think
00:23:55
everybody could have heard me down the
00:23:56
interstate cuz I was so happy that we
00:23:58
was getting some Vital
00:24:01
Signs Robert had a heartbeat but his
00:24:04
condition was critical the ER doctor was
00:24:07
not
00:24:08
hopeful my prognosis was that he would
00:24:11
not come out of his coma and I expected
00:24:13
him to remain in permanent coma and
00:24:15
ultimately uh suffer complications and
00:24:18
ultimately
00:24:19
die for nearly 2 months Robert remained
00:24:23
in a deep coma and then one day he
00:24:26
simply woke up and resumed his life when
00:24:30
I came out of the coma I looked around
00:24:33
and I couldn't figure out what I was
00:24:35
doing in the hospital when it became
00:24:38
apparent that uh he indeed woke up and
00:24:42
uh not only woke up but was talking and
00:24:46
walking uh it uh I was utterly
00:24:50
amazed Robert incredible recovery LED
00:24:53
some to speculate that the woman in
00:24:56
black was Far More Than Just a person
00:24:58
who happened by they believe that she
00:25:01
was a spirit that rose up from the
00:25:03
area's religious
00:25:06
past just down the road from where
00:25:08
Robert was struck by lightning lies this
00:25:11
quiet Meadow it's the site of a 19th
00:25:14
century spiritual Retreat known as aen
00:25:18
Campground more than a 100 years ago
00:25:21
this spot was the sight of fiery sermons
00:25:24
gospel hymns and the sound of faithful
00:25:26
speaking in tongues
00:25:28
most of Acton Campground burned down in
00:25:31
1905 but a few artifacts can still be
00:25:34
found at a local Museum one of the
00:25:37
relics on display is a vintage dress it
00:25:40
is very similar to the one worn by the
00:25:43
lady in
00:25:45
Black this woman maybe had been a pastor
00:25:49
Reverend or a priestess in her life
00:25:52
prior and when she passed on she was
00:25:55
brought into I guess a guardian an
00:25:59
angel
00:26:00
form I know I witnessed a
00:26:03
miracle there's just no other words to
00:26:06
say it it was a
00:26:11
miracle some might argue that Robert's
00:26:13
life was saved by quick acting
00:26:15
paramedics and nothing more but others
00:26:19
believe that the lightning bolt awakened
00:26:21
the spirits of acting Campground and
00:26:24
that one of them came to his rescue
00:26:28
I've always kind of believed that
00:26:30
everybody has a guardian angel but most
00:26:33
people never get to see him or have him
00:26:35
really do anything for
00:26:37
him I think my angel was doing her job
00:26:41
that
00:26:45
day next the police broke an execution
00:26:48
style murder of a welllike
00:26:51
businessman was he living a double life
00:26:58
[Music]
00:27:04
ipsilanti Michigan a suburb of Detroit
00:27:08
on a winter morning two men enter the
00:27:10
real estate office of Jack Brown as one
00:27:14
stands guard the other heads towards
00:27:16
Jack's office yeah yeah we have trouble
00:27:22
here the men appear to be familiar with
00:27:24
a layout of the building I think you're
00:27:26
pretty smart don't you well
00:27:30
maybe
00:27:32
Mo
00:27:34
in
00:27:36
come in close the
00:27:39
door The Intruders lock the three
00:27:41
employees in the bathroom and then walk
00:27:43
away Jack Brown never regains
00:27:46
Consciousness and dies 12 hours later
00:27:49
from a single bullet wound to the
00:27:53
neck the murder of Jack Brown appeared
00:27:56
to be a coldblooded contractor
00:27:58
planned and executed by professionals
00:28:01
but police had no motive who would order
00:28:04
a hit on a small town realtor and
00:28:08
Why Annie hi how you Jack's real estate
00:28:12
brokering business put him in contact
00:28:14
with many members of the community no
00:28:16
one could imagine why he would be
00:28:19
targeted by a killer that's just to find
00:28:21
you classic Victoria there was
00:28:24
absolutely nothing in Jack's background
00:28:26
that I was aware of that that would
00:28:28
warrant uh any kind of problem
00:28:30
whatsoever uh and surely not the the
00:28:34
tragedy that happened
00:28:35
here my opinion of the gunman is that
00:28:39
they came here to challenge Jack in some
00:28:43
way we got trouble here I heard the
00:28:45
gunman say you think you're smart don't
00:28:49
you and I heard Jack say kind of a
00:28:52
halting voice well well maybe at that
00:28:56
point the gun went off
00:28:58
and I guess I really figured that we had
00:29:01
bought the farm that they were then
00:29:04
going to get rid of three eye witnesses
00:29:07
to a murder but I guess looking back on
00:29:10
it it would seem to me to be a case
00:29:12
where whatever problem they had was with
00:29:14
Jack and not uh the rest of us that
00:29:17
happened to be in the office that
00:29:19
faithful morning no one seems to know
00:29:22
anything uh Shady about Jack or anything
00:29:25
that he might have been involved in that
00:29:27
could be termed Shady which leads us to
00:29:30
believe that maybe he was living a
00:29:32
double life was involved in something
00:29:34
that no one knew
00:29:38
about the night before Jack was killed
00:29:41
his brother saw him on the telephone
00:29:43
where Jack he's back on the phone back
00:29:45
the conversation seemed to leave him
00:29:48
extremely
00:29:50
agitated I could tell you know by the
00:29:52
conversation that he was getting upset
00:29:55
so he finally you know hung the phone up
00:29:58
I uh ask him if there's a problem oh uh
00:30:03
H that's that's nothing I just got a few
00:30:05
problems I got to work out you guys have
00:30:07
a good time at the poker game I'll see
00:30:08
you tomorrow
00:30:09
okay okay I honestly feel you know in my
00:30:13
own heart that something about that
00:30:15
phone call was involved with what
00:30:18
happened the following day it's really
00:30:21
strange when someone is murdered or
00:30:23
taken from you suddenly like this that
00:30:25
you look back and you search your mind
00:30:27
you search
00:30:28
everywhere for Clues and you remember
00:30:31
things that someone said that didn't
00:30:34
fit it was a fun party wasn't it yeah I
00:30:37
really like that Jack and I had been to
00:30:39
a Christmas party and I was just a
00:30:41
little irritated with him cuz he' had a
00:30:43
bit much to drink and he was kind of
00:30:45
rambling what would you do if you knew
00:30:48
some very important people some very
00:30:52
powerful people did something very
00:30:55
wrong would you write their names
00:30:58
in a list and and put it in a safe
00:31:01
deposit box what are you talking
00:31:04
about probably safe for you not to
00:31:07
know you know when I talk to you and
00:31:10
tell you these things that my husband
00:31:12
said to me I I'm almost embarrassed it
00:31:15
just sounds so unreal but he told me
00:31:18
that it was not something I should know
00:31:21
and it may sound silly but I believed
00:31:24
him after I recovered from the initial
00:31:28
shock of his death then these little
00:31:30
comments that he dropped in conversation
00:31:32
started coming back to me and I searched
00:31:35
for that safety deposit key it was
00:31:38
nowhere in my
00:31:40
house I want to know who those powerful
00:31:42
people were I want to know what their
00:31:44
names are I want The Killers the people
00:31:47
that actually did it but I want to know
00:31:48
the people that hired
00:31:50
them the same day that Jack was murdered
00:31:53
the police conducted a major drug bust
00:31:55
in the area The Raid had been triggered
00:31:58
by an unknown informant some wondered if
00:32:02
there might be a connection to check I
00:32:05
think it's very possible there are
00:32:07
people in the community that know more
00:32:10
about what happened for some reason
00:32:13
either they're afraid to say or maybe if
00:32:15
he knew something about someone else
00:32:18
that person's obviously not going to
00:32:20
tell us what they
00:32:22
know it really seems unfair because Jack
00:32:26
didn't deserve to die
00:32:28
you know I've thought in my mind that
00:32:30
maybe I didn't want to know that if he
00:32:32
did something bad I don't want to know
00:32:34
about him but it's not
00:32:37
true I can think of anything he could
00:32:40
have done that would give those people
00:32:42
the right to come in and take his life
00:32:45
pretty smart don't
00:32:47
you the gunman was approximately 6 ft
00:32:50
tall and wore a biged jacket and light
00:32:53
colored pants he was armed with a 38
00:32:56
caliber revolver his accomplice was
00:32:59
about 5' 10 in tall and was wearing
00:33:01
coveralls in a blue knit stocking cap he
00:33:04
was armed with an automatic
00:33:07
handgun if you have any information
00:33:09
about this case please log on to our
00:33:12
website at
00:33:13
uno.com
00:33:17
next a convicted conwoman jumps bail but
00:33:21
is she really a
00:33:23
woman and a Jordanian serviceman called
00:33:27
away to war searches for the son he was
00:33:30
forbidden to
00:33:39
see previously we profiled the case of
00:33:42
Geraldine Elizabeth carmichel a Los
00:33:45
Angeles businesswoman who claimed that
00:33:48
she was going to revolutionize the Auto
00:33:51
industry carmichel told investors that
00:33:54
she had designed a car that could get up
00:33:56
to 70 m per gallon she called it the
00:34:00
Dale and promised it would soon be in
00:34:03
production Carmichael collected over $1
00:34:06
million from
00:34:08
investors we went to the research and
00:34:10
development lab and observed what
00:34:11
appeared to be people appearing to be
00:34:13
busy but upon inspection of this vehicle
00:34:16
it was not a riable vehicle at all had
00:34:19
no engine 2x4s were holding up the rear
00:34:22
wheel the accelerator was just sitting
00:34:24
on the floor it wasn't even attached
00:34:27
and the vehicle just absolutely did not
00:34:30
exist this
00:34:32
Carmichael police
00:34:34
officers we have a warrant when police
00:34:36
arrived at Carmichael's home she and her
00:34:39
family had
00:34:41
fled authorities tracked her to Miami
00:34:44
where she was living under the Alias
00:34:46
Susan Reigns but Elizabeth carmichel was
00:34:49
hiding a much bigger secret she was
00:34:53
really a man Jerry Dean Michael
00:34:58
I never thought that Liz was a man I
00:35:00
always thought that and she is today she
00:35:03
still Liz to me still a
00:35:06
female has the jury reached its verdict
00:35:10
yes we have your honor we find a
00:35:12
defendant
00:35:14
guilty Jerry Dean Michael was convicted
00:35:17
on 34 counts of conspiracy grand theft
00:35:20
and fraud he was released on $50,000
00:35:23
bail and appeal's conviction for the
00:35:26
next 3 years
00:35:28
then when he didn't show up for
00:35:30
sentencing police found that he and his
00:35:32
family had disappeared once
00:35:37
again
00:35:39
update after the story aired two viewers
00:35:42
called to report that Jerry te Michael
00:35:45
was living near Austin Texas under the
00:35:48
assumed name Catherine Johnson he had
00:35:51
made his home in the small community of
00:35:55
Dale Texas
00:35:57
uh while I was booking him I had to
00:35:59
determine which portion of the jail to
00:36:02
put him in so I asked him directly just
00:36:05
how far along he had came in his sex
00:36:07
change and uh he told me it about
00:36:11
halfway which was not quite sufficient
00:36:13
to put him in with the females I put him
00:36:15
in with the
00:36:17
males Michael was returned to Los
00:36:19
Angeles in order to serve his original
00:36:21
sense after 2 years in a Men's prison he
00:36:25
was released
00:36:30
today the legacy of Elizabeth carmichel
00:36:33
also known as Mr Jerry Dean Michael and
00:36:36
his or her futuristic car has not been
00:36:40
forgotten an original prototype of the
00:36:42
Dale is now part of the permanent
00:36:45
collection of the Peterson car museum in
00:36:48
Los
00:36:52
Angeles in
00:36:54
1967 fousy Mahmud was a member of the
00:36:57
Jordanian Air Force who had been sent to
00:37:00
the United States for pilot training
00:37:03
bousy how are you doing do you remember
00:37:06
Barbara hi and zoa hi hello when a
00:37:10
friend introduced him to 20-year-old zoa
00:37:13
Malino FY was swept off his feet what I
00:37:18
mean she looked so beautiful to me and
00:37:21
uh she got this green dress and just she
00:37:24
was a knock out and I was knocked out
00:37:28
I fell in love with her I mean I feel
00:37:30
madly in love with her this is beautiful
00:37:34
it is pretty zoa was not only the first
00:37:37
love it was the first woman I ever
00:37:38
talked to in my life because we came
00:37:40
from a very very strict family and
00:37:43
strict people and a strict government
00:37:44
you know she was uh my first everything
00:37:48
oh Mom he's waiting he's zoa's parents
00:37:51
did not like the idea of their daughter
00:37:53
dating anyone the fact that fousy was a
00:37:56
foreigner who spoke little English did
00:37:59
not help he's a nice boy she from well
00:38:02
what does it matter and I gu you out
00:38:05
even though her parents were
00:38:07
conservative and strict we managed to go
00:38:10
out almost
00:38:11
daily we were dancing we went to the
00:38:13
lake we went to the mountains we went
00:38:15
everywhere together 6 months later zoa
00:38:19
surprised fousy with some unexpected
00:38:23
news bousy I think I'm
00:38:26
pregnant good to zoa's relief FY was
00:38:30
thrilled you are
00:38:32
yes I want to marry
00:38:34
[Music]
00:38:42
you but the marriage never took place
00:38:46
several months earlier War had broken
00:38:48
out between Jordan and Israel tension
00:38:51
between the two countries remained high
00:38:53
and FY was ordered
00:38:56
home I'm come back I
00:38:59
promise we talked and we promised and we
00:39:02
vowed that we would always be together
00:39:04
no matter what
00:39:06
happens when I come back I can't raise a
00:39:10
baby by myself I can't you and baby come
00:39:13
to Jordan I just felt so helpless and I
00:39:16
come back very soon come on kids we need
00:39:19
to get
00:39:21
going I felt why life should be like
00:39:24
that I mean we're having so good time
00:39:26
together we happy why the happiness have
00:39:28
to
00:39:31
go zoa and fousy continued their
00:39:34
relationship by mail the Jordanian Air
00:39:37
Force refused to release fousy so zoa
00:39:40
planned to move to Jordan after the baby
00:39:43
arrived when zoa gave birth to a baby
00:39:46
boy she named him amade
00:39:50
Marell I mean I was thrilled I was very
00:39:53
happy I was jumping but I also was very
00:39:57
uh
00:39:58
uh unpleased because of the fact that I
00:40:00
cannot be there to see him and be with
00:40:02
her and be of help to her I was very
00:40:07
frustrated fousy could not wait to bring
00:40:09
his new family to Jordan but back in
00:40:12
Texas zoa had a change of heart she felt
00:40:15
that she needed a father for her baby so
00:40:18
she wrote fousy that she had married
00:40:21
someone else fousy could not bring
00:40:24
himself to write the Zoila again but he
00:40:26
never forgot his
00:40:32
son 2 years later FY returned to the
00:40:36
United States he tried to call zoa but
00:40:39
her mother hung up on him and then
00:40:41
changed her number in desperation he
00:40:44
want the zoa's
00:40:46
house hello I like see zoa please nobody
00:40:51
wants to talk to you my son I like see
00:40:54
my son if you don't get out of here I'm
00:40:56
going to call the police no please
00:40:58
wait I just want to see my son
00:41:02
pleasey could not risk being arrested
00:41:04
and possibly deported so he left but he
00:41:08
never gave up hope that he would someday
00:41:10
meet his
00:41:12
son today FY is married and has his own
00:41:17
family but thoughts of amadel still
00:41:20
haunt him I would like to see my son i'
00:41:23
would like to see how he looks like I
00:41:25
want to hug him I want to tell him I
00:41:26
love him
00:41:27
I mean there's a lot of things that we
00:41:29
did not do together maybe we can do it
00:41:31
now even at this
00:41:35
age
00:41:37

00:41:44

00:41:48

00:41:51

00:41:57
