00:00:40
Mark hunt the superar moan welcome to my
00:00:44
podcast hey man thanks for having me on
00:00:46
Dom M I'm I'm I'm really excited like um
00:00:50
I just actually you came onto my radar I
00:00:52
had um Dan the hangman hooker on the
00:00:54
podcast maybe a month ago um and your
00:00:57
name came up he told a funny story about
00:00:58
you and I thought oh Mark hunt would be
00:00:59
a great guest we were messaging
00:01:01
backwards and forwards I offered to fly
00:01:03
you to walkand I offered to fly to
00:01:05
Sydney and then you were like no let's
00:01:07
just do it remotely so here we are I'm
00:01:09
in studio you're sitting in your
00:01:11
car yeah yeah and you got well I mean my
00:01:16
my ex has got a um a meeting inside the
00:01:18
house and uh you know I just I can't
00:01:21
really disturb their meeting I was part
00:01:22
of it but I I told him I had to leave
00:01:25
for the Dom Harvey podcast and they said
00:01:27
okay well I'm pleased we've connected so
00:01:30
you're you're sitting in your car you're
00:01:31
nice and relaxed and um you can't see
00:01:34
this on on camera but you've got a p of
00:01:36
D sneakers on the dashboard and your
00:01:38
phone's leaning against that yes
00:01:41
sir I love that so much hey um so the
00:01:45
Super S also um another nickname uh King
00:01:48
of the walkoff um for for anyone that's
00:01:51
listening to this because I've got a
00:01:52
very broad audience to the podcast for
00:01:54
anyone that's not into um Combat Sports
00:01:57
uh what does that mean exactly what's a
00:01:59
walkoff
00:02:01
I have no
00:02:02
[Laughter]
00:02:06
idea you know I think I got that that
00:02:08
nickname from the UFC uh John anck that
00:02:12
commentator John anck so I think it's uh
00:02:15
that's where you you knock someone out
00:02:16
and walk off you know but that's what he
00:02:18
gave me so it is what it is right yeah
00:02:21
so I I've watched a whole lot of like
00:02:23
YouTube videos of um sort of your like
00:02:25
Greatest Hits um and they lead up to
00:02:27
this and it's almost like your before
00:02:29
the even called the fight off like you
00:02:31
you you hit someone and you know you've
00:02:33
got the job done um so I mean Jo Joseph
00:02:37
Parker used to do that and people say he
00:02:38
didn't have the Killer Instinct cuz it
00:02:39
walk you know had like hold back the
00:02:41
last couple of maybe necessary punches
00:02:44
but how do you how do you know it's game
00:02:46
over and job
00:02:47
done well I've been you know a striker
00:02:50
for a long time my background is standup
00:02:52
striking and you know um I've been
00:02:54
pretty confident at it you know that's
00:02:56
why I've had a career as long as I have
00:02:58
to feed my family so I mean like every
00:03:00
toping athlete I think
00:03:03
um you know you know you've done it you
00:03:05
know millions of time repetitively so
00:03:07
you know when you you know when you when
00:03:08
when you're doing it for striking stand
00:03:10
up you know when you hit someone you
00:03:11
know you've hurt them that's you've done
00:03:13
but with the MMA you have also the you
00:03:15
know to to follow up and and finish them
00:03:17
so um I just never did that because I
00:03:20
you know sometimes you just know like I
00:03:21
said when I know when I hit someone I
00:03:22
know they're done they're
00:03:24
done is it an act of compassion or
00:03:28
what well you you can call it whatever
00:03:30
you
00:03:31
like you know call it whatever you like
00:03:33
man I don't care it's just you
00:03:38
know I just I just like I said when I'm
00:03:41
when I've been fighting before I just
00:03:43
when I hit someone that's it I I know
00:03:44
that that he's done so like uh you know
00:03:47
that's
00:03:48
it fair enough Fair sorry I'm just
00:03:50
overthinking it so at the moment you're
00:03:52
um how old are you you're 50 years old
00:03:54
51 years
00:03:55
old oh I'm 50 years old I'm 51 uh in
00:03:58
March yeah and you're you're still going
00:04:01
as well you're training at the moment
00:04:02
for a beer knuckle fight how do you
00:04:03
train for a beer knuckle
00:04:05
fight well I don't know about I'm still
00:04:07
going um um I I mean I well I'm looking
00:04:12
at fighting in September right um I'll
00:04:16
probably be part part owner of that
00:04:17
company by that time um and then the
00:04:20
fight will probably be for free I I as a
00:04:23
as a prize fighter you you know um like
00:04:27
I said God's put me to be a prize
00:04:28
fighter and you know not knowing that
00:04:30
what my life would be you know would end
00:04:32
up like this the Pinnacle of my life is
00:04:34
I fought my hardest battle which was um
00:04:37
the fight against UFC which is already
00:04:39
complete now so for me as a prize
00:04:41
fighter my end goal is walking out to a
00:04:44
a stadium you know we've all watched
00:04:45
Gladiator he was gladi to you know when
00:04:47
he walks out and he he's fighting there
00:04:50
for his freedom as a slave he goes you
00:04:52
know are you not entertained for me as a
00:04:53
fighter to walk out to fight for my
00:04:56
freedom The Narrative of my account has
00:04:58
changed The Narrative of me fighting for
00:04:59
money is totally different to what it is
00:05:01
now so when I walk out there I'll be one
00:05:03
of the Wiest men in the world part owner
00:05:06
of their company and my narrative won't
00:05:07
be I won't have to fight for money The
00:05:09
Narrative will be I fight because I love
00:05:12
to compete I love and as a fighter walk
00:05:15
out into a stadium with with so much
00:05:18
history imagine like all the slaves that
00:05:20
died there for their freedom that is for
00:05:23
me that's absolute history as and it's
00:05:25
like the cream of the crop they doing
00:05:27
that and on your own terms that that
00:05:30
that as a prize fighter is my end goal I
00:05:32
love it and being I'll be 51 years of
00:05:35
age
00:05:37
um and it was a sort of a tossup but I I
00:05:40
promised my manager a friend of mine
00:05:41
Gabriel that I'll do that um and that's
00:05:44
what I'm going to do so like I said as a
00:05:47
prize fighter for my endgame is that is
00:05:49
to walk out there on a different
00:05:51
Narrative of Mark hunt and to walk out
00:05:53
there to so much history of blood and
00:05:56
slaves fighting for their freedom and to
00:05:58
end it on that note
00:06:00
and you mentioned just before that the
00:06:02
um the fight the long running fight with
00:06:04
um the UFC's over now so you were the
00:06:06
New Zealand's first UFC star you were in
00:06:08
the UFC from 2010 to 2018 um your
00:06:13
walkout in UFC adade where you had like
00:06:16
a group doing a hacker behind you as
00:06:18
seen as one of the best walkouts of all
00:06:19
time
00:06:21
um yeah what happened with the UFC it's
00:06:24
it's been it's been really really public
00:06:26
he over the
00:06:27
years yeah it has it's had it was also a
00:06:30
real hard slog you know I've had a lot
00:06:33
of um ups and downs with I've had I've
00:06:35
had criminal lawyers I've had crooked
00:06:38
lawyers I've had you know the the the
00:06:41
the tolling and the years and years of
00:06:42
of of uh you know people you know
00:06:45
hammering me and talking [ __ ] they like
00:06:47
I've got CT and all this sort of stuff
00:06:49
when the actual truth is and it's
00:06:52
actually facts there's not an inference
00:06:54
you know in in law an inference in
00:06:56
Australia or New Zealand they they say
00:06:58
maybe but in American law they call an
00:07:01
inference they base an inference on
00:07:04
facts you know when the judge is asking
00:07:06
you an inference about someone telling
00:07:08
lies he's talking to you about facts
00:07:10
that he's read so it's been a
00:07:12
long-standing battle of steroids of me
00:07:15
fighting guys that are on steroids and
00:07:17
um for me you know realizing and knowing
00:07:21
and saying okay this I said to to Dana
00:07:24
and these uh these clowns a long time
00:07:27
ago every time I fought a steroid guy
00:07:29
whether I'd won or lost I've said to
00:07:31
Dana can you do something about it you
00:07:33
know and and and every time Dana said to
00:07:35
to me oh it's up to us it's up to these
00:07:38
guys that do it they're the ones that
00:07:39
have the
00:07:41
policy um so yeah um you know I could
00:07:46
you have to ask me specific questions
00:07:47
about this whole thing because you know
00:07:48
I can go on all day I spend I spend all
00:07:51
day with you and um I could you know
00:07:55
like I became a pro litigant like I'm do
00:07:58
you know what a pro Lian in is no what
00:08:01
is that so you be you know I'm not a
00:08:04
lawyer but I the the the the ninth
00:08:06
circuit is a a court in America is the
00:08:09
one that they made me Pro a proa
00:08:11
litigant so I had to be the lawyer so
00:08:14
that's that was my biggest battle
00:08:15
against the UFC um and the case that
00:08:18
I've got is is a one-off case it was a
00:08:20
it was a it's a civil RICO case do you
00:08:23
know what Rico Rico stands for no I feel
00:08:26
like God I feel like I'm sitting a lore
00:08:27
exam here okay Rico you know you must
00:08:31
know Al Capone right all those old time
00:08:32
gangsters right you're seen those movies
00:08:35
okay okay so they bought him the REO
00:08:37
Statute in America for those
00:08:40
gangsters so what happened was with any
00:08:43
sort of crime syndicate there's a family
00:08:45
there's there's the head there's two
00:08:47
under bosses there's their sergeants and
00:08:50
all the rest of these and then there's
00:08:51
all the fanky so with Rico well they
00:08:54
couldn't get the top bosses who make all
00:08:56
the money the bosses of the of the
00:08:59
actual the crime syndicate so what
00:09:00
happens was when they bought in the RICO
00:09:04
statute that's the lower level parts of
00:09:07
their group and those are normal the
00:09:09
groups that that that all snitch on the
00:09:11
boss because they you know they tell on
00:09:14
the bosses and they brings that whole
00:09:16
you know that whole faction down but but
00:09:18
but what R also also does whatever they
00:09:22
own brings it into the eyes of the law
00:09:25
so whatever they've made whatever they
00:09:27
own brings into the eyes of the law that
00:09:29
the law can take right so with the the
00:09:33
UFC the reason is the r case because
00:09:36
multiple entities colluded together for
00:09:40
one
00:09:41
purpose right and they're an
00:09:43
international
00:09:45
group so what tied this whole thing
00:09:48
together especially with Dana White is
00:09:50
when they sold this company for 4 point
00:09:52
something rubbish you know 4 something
00:09:53
billion dollar what ti Dana White to
00:09:55
this is he made $600 million off this
00:10:00
do you understand yes so there was a
00:10:02
group of people that colluded together
00:10:04
for a common purpose and that was to
00:10:07
make money to sell their company to make
00:10:09
money yeah your Feud with um Dana White
00:10:12
has been like very very open and very
00:10:15
public um I've actually got like a a few
00:10:18
quotes here from Dana White um starting
00:10:20
in 2013 and going to 2023 uh 2013 um
00:10:24
this is a text that got leaked from Dana
00:10:27
White Mark Hunter is a [ __ ] let's
00:10:29
bear C him
00:10:35
uh 2016 in an interview until the day
00:10:39
that this is like complete opposite
00:10:40
until the day until the day that guy
00:10:42
doesn't want to throw a punch anymore
00:10:44
he's with me I love Mark hunt and
00:10:48
then and then 2023 Mark Hunt is a bit of
00:10:51
a delusional guy he's going to have to
00:10:53
pay some legal fees
00:10:56
so well it's been um I it's been very
00:11:00
courageous of you because it's I can't
00:11:01
imagine how exhausting this whole
00:11:02
thing's been over so many years and you
00:11:04
know you're challenging someone that's
00:11:06
got like very very Deep Pockets um
00:11:10
yeah if if you saw him face to face now
00:11:13
say you're in line at um you wild bean
00:11:15
and he came in and was behind you what
00:11:17
would the conversation be what would you
00:11:18
do could you hold yourself back from
00:11:20
hitting
00:11:22
him I would have Wast my time I know how
00:11:24
these guys roll I know how these
00:11:26
corporate guys work so I mean I don't
00:11:28
think he'll as soon as sees me he'll
00:11:30
probably run the other way but the
00:11:31
problem he has is is with Rico after
00:11:34
every civil Rico contravention comes a
00:11:37
criminal contravention do you understand
00:11:39
what I mean so with a civil case it has
00:11:43
to have criminal implications to be to
00:11:45
be an approved civil uh lawsuit you
00:11:49
cannot you can you cannot have a civil
00:11:51
uh case without criminal implications so
00:11:55
what I'm saying is from the Civil Case
00:11:57
will come a criminal case so all these
00:11:59
guys that I just explained to colluded
00:12:01
together for one purpose um are going to
00:12:05
jail and and P did is going to get that
00:12:07
baby all to bum these [ __ ] that's it
00:12:10
and that's the bottom
00:12:12
line but my but my [ __ ] French that's
00:12:16
all no worries now we we had a chat just
00:12:17
before we started recording and you said
00:12:19
you've done a few podcasts before and
00:12:21
most of them haven't been released but
00:12:23
um I'll release this as is where is
00:12:25
unless you want anything taken out um oh
00:12:28
no no like please do yourself a favor
00:12:31
and you know before the whole world
00:12:33
knows to release it because you know
00:12:34
when the when the judges mandate what
00:12:37
I'm telling you it's going to be it's
00:12:39
going to be mandated in law the thing is
00:12:41
it's we've already won that case and how
00:12:44
I know this because when I when I when I
00:12:46
argued the oral argument in on November
00:12:48
November the 20th I think it was I I
00:12:51
realized that judge
00:12:53
rollinson you know she's the one that
00:12:55
said we no she actually spoke about it
00:12:58
said that's the battery we're speaking
00:13:01
about the fraud you guys did so when a
00:13:03
judge says that that means cuz B battery
00:13:07
is the predicate act uh predicate Act is
00:13:11
the act that starts it so that's battery
00:13:14
so she approved
00:13:17
that we good yeah hey uh sorry about
00:13:20
that my phone
00:13:26
overheated yeah sorry about that over
00:13:29
cuz the sun's beaming right into the
00:13:30
[ __ ] and I'm like oh [ __ ] it's
00:13:32
overheated probably just go holy [ __ ] I
00:13:35
can't handle what this guy's saying my
00:13:37
phone never hited but it's back now so
00:13:39
what I was saying where was I I was
00:13:41
talking about yeah okay I was talking
00:13:42
about the predicate act so the predicate
00:13:44
Act was battery um so I've got 11
00:13:48
contraventions civil civil uh conspiracy
00:13:51
adding at abetting fraud um I've got
00:13:54
eight of them so if the battery act if
00:13:56
battery is is the predicate act it was
00:13:58
approved that means the rest is approved
00:14:01
do you understand yes so that means the
00:14:04
whole case is be one it just needs to be
00:14:06
mandated into law and um and and that
00:14:08
we're just still waiting for that
00:14:09
decision um uh from the night
00:14:13
circuit
00:14:15
um what sort of toll has this taken on
00:14:18
you you know personally and and
00:14:20
emotionally like I'm guessing this is
00:14:22
tougher than any fight you've ever had
00:14:23
in a ring or an
00:14:24
octagon it has been um it has been it's
00:14:28
been the hard satisfied on my life to be
00:14:30
honest and you know I think you only God
00:14:32
can put something on someone for him to
00:14:35
do and now he can come through and and
00:14:37
pull through it and do it all and
00:14:39
because no one else could have done this
00:14:40
by me I swear the the things that that
00:14:42
that that this case has put me through
00:14:44
is is ridiculous
00:14:46
um it's been so so hard man honestly and
00:14:49
I if I'd realize
00:14:52
um it's actually probably a good thing
00:14:54
you know like I said to put your family
00:14:57
um into to Harm's Way
00:15:00
for others MH um you know not for your
00:15:03
benefit for others to make things even
00:15:05
is say something about you know for me I
00:15:08
just say I think God just puts the
00:15:10
person to do these things because he
00:15:12
knows that that person can do that yeah
00:15:15
I don't think anyone else could have
00:15:16
ever done this because you know that's
00:15:18
probably why it's it's it's going to be
00:15:20
called The Hunt
00:15:22
precedent oh that would be so awesome
00:15:24
that's like um Muhammad Ali had a like a
00:15:26
clause named after him didn't he and the
00:15:27
sport of boxing it's called the Ali Act
00:15:30
yeah yeah yeah yeah so that so that that
00:15:32
lawsuit was just
00:15:34
one so you know with that lawsuit I
00:15:37
think those lawyers are criminals you
00:15:38
know they're just criminals anyway but
00:15:40
uh but that's another story but yeah so
00:15:43
that that act is called the Ali Act um
00:15:45
this act this lawsuit will the would be
00:15:48
called The Hunt precedent so right now
00:15:52
um any person can go and Sue um so
00:15:56
another person that's fighter or has
00:15:58
been called steroids he caned them the
00:16:01
the the the statut that claim for
00:16:03
battering America is 350,000 us but it's
00:16:07
not that is for me it's not if you look
00:16:09
at it it's not just because the number
00:16:10
is
00:16:12
350,000 you time there by times that by
00:16:14
the amount of um sports events that that
00:16:17
cheaters have won you times that by the
00:16:20
amount of years there's got to be some
00:16:21
sort of limit of Stu of um of limits of
00:16:25
stopping this because the toing of this
00:16:27
will be huge
00:16:29
why why did you choose to um you know
00:16:31
make this the hill that you die on like
00:16:33
in terms of like you know pecking this
00:16:35
battle and not letting it go in terms of
00:16:37
um like drug cheating in the sport like
00:16:39
the path of
00:16:41
Le okay sorry go ahead keep going no I
00:16:44
think like like the the easiest path for
00:16:46
you to take would be just to you know
00:16:49
accept it's [ __ ] feel disgruntled
00:16:50
about it and just get on with your life
00:16:52
um but instead like you you know you've
00:16:54
been like a dog with a [ __ ] bone with
00:16:57
it well pretty
00:17:01
much biggest [ __ ] dog in the world
00:17:03
you know but it's actually you know for
00:17:06
me I like I explained to you earlier D
00:17:09
is like I I said to my this is pretty
00:17:11
much like workplace bullying just
00:17:13
because I'm a prize fighter it doesn't
00:17:15
mean my work my work differs I still
00:17:16
suffer from you know a mental capacity
00:17:19
as a fighter you've got to have that
00:17:21
mental capacity to be stronger and and
00:17:23
go through these things while you're
00:17:24
competing no just because my work is
00:17:27
different from yours it doesn't mean you
00:17:29
boss can bully you like they've done to
00:17:30
me that is exactly what it is this is
00:17:33
exactly like a workplace bullying
00:17:35
situation but the difference here is um
00:17:39
they've all you know the different
00:17:40
companies like usar and all these
00:17:42
companies have colluded together for
00:17:44
their common purpose of of making that
00:17:46
money um it would have been easy just to
00:17:48
say um um you know Mark and that was you
00:17:52
know when I thought I could have just
00:17:54
been quiet and just click another
00:17:57
contract and you know made another $10
00:17:59
million or whatever the [ __ ] it was and
00:18:00
moved on with my life and my kids would
00:18:02
be happy you know years ago my ex my
00:18:05
wife ex-wife said to me you know Mark
00:18:08
why why did you do this to
00:18:10
us you know in situations like that I
00:18:13
sit there and worry about um this whole
00:18:15
scenario I sat there and said man I I
00:18:18
you know that's when I I sit there get
00:18:20
on my knees and I pray to God I said man
00:18:22
God what's happened here you know you
00:18:24
You' you you you've left me you forsaken
00:18:26
me what what the hell's happened here
00:18:29
and this is uh in between that seven
00:18:31
years that the law that lawyer lied to
00:18:33
me you know I'm people laugh at me
00:18:35
people mock me you know you get all
00:18:37
these trolls on line saying you you know
00:18:38
you you got CTE all this rubbish and you
00:18:41
know the truth is you know I'm not uh
00:18:45
you're talking to someone that's very
00:18:46
articulate you I have knock on CTE I
00:18:49
know a lot about the I know everything
00:18:50
about the situation um it would have
00:18:53
been just as easy like you said to just
00:18:54
walk away get a paycheck and live on my
00:18:57
life but um that's just not the type of
00:18:59
person I am you know if I see a wrong
00:19:02
I'm going to go and fix it I don't care
00:19:03
what at what costs if if if it's if it's
00:19:06
like black and white that if that's how
00:19:09
simple it is that's how simple it is to
00:19:10
me if I see you doing wrong I'll tell
00:19:12
you and if I have to try and fix it like
00:19:14
I said to Dana so many times bro cuz do
00:19:17
something about these guys are cheating
00:19:20
oh you won the fight I don't give a [ __ ]
00:19:22
[ __ ] [ __ ] my hands broken because of
00:19:24
that [ __ ] cheating piece of [ __ ] you
00:19:26
know what I mean who to think about it
00:19:28
oh up to usada mark But then later on as
00:19:31
as as you go along to along along the
00:19:33
lawsuit you realize that usada is part
00:19:36
of this Co coercion this collusion
00:19:39
they're part of it and you think oh my
00:19:41
God you filthy [ __ ] you know
00:19:43
what I mean no yeah I know exactly what
00:19:45
you mean and it feels like you were
00:19:46
standing up to um to the the the bully
00:19:48
which is um it's a it's a hard thing to
00:19:50
do if if someone if if this gets clipped
00:19:53
up and Dana White happens to see it what
00:19:55
would you like is there anything you'd
00:19:56
like to say to him I can tell you right
00:19:58
now you know all he's doing right now is
00:20:01
worried about going to jail he's got his
00:20:03
you know when the hammer drops for them
00:20:06
the hammer drops and he knows it's
00:20:08
coming he 100% knows he's coming because
00:20:11
even his lawyer kobby Williams is
00:20:13
throwing him under the bus you know
00:20:15
right now from what I've seen with from
00:20:17
the lawsuit that the owner of UFC AR
00:20:19
Emanuel knows that this guy has done all
00:20:21
this stuff to him he knows that Dana
00:20:24
White has done all these criminal Contra
00:20:26
these acts towards him and I don't know
00:20:28
why he doesn't just get rid of him but I
00:20:29
think there's something else in that
00:20:30
contract with him so he has to wait for
00:20:33
the judges to mandate this into law so
00:20:36
he can get rid of
00:20:37
them and that's when he can say well I
00:20:41
um the insurance is going to cover their
00:20:43
problem the problem that Dana White cost
00:20:45
him so like I told you this civil
00:20:48
lawsuit will be the second highest civil
00:20:50
lawsuit in history which will make me
00:20:53
one of the West I'm sorry the Wiest
00:20:55
athlete ever in history the Wiest
00:20:58
fighter
00:20:59
ever in history did you hear what I just
00:21:01
said sure did what would what would that
00:21:04
mean who's the current wealthiest
00:21:06
fighter in history is that M McGregor
00:21:09
he's they're not even close to this kind
00:21:11
of w they're not even close not even
00:21:14
close if I just told you earlier if the
00:21:16
highest civil lawsuit for this was 216
00:21:19
billion this will be the second highest
00:21:22
and McGregor and is worth a billion
00:21:25
dollars what does that tell
00:21:26
[Music]
00:21:27
you even
00:21:29
even without this um yeah how how are
00:21:31
you now like have you done okay
00:21:32
financially out of the sport no does
00:21:34
it's cost me a [ __ ] arm in my an arm
00:21:37
and leg like I said I've had to go to
00:21:39
the I don't know uh you know I'm going
00:21:41
to tell you it anyway because [ __ ] these
00:21:43
Banks they're [ __ ] criminals you know
00:21:45
the banks you know I've had to to to
00:21:47
plead hardship for nearly I don't know
00:21:50
how long now hardship to the banks they
00:21:52
can't come and kick my family out of the
00:21:53
house but banking law says that any F
00:21:57
any if you tell the bank if you keep in
00:22:00
contact with the bank that your
00:22:01
situation has changed they have to talk
00:22:03
to you so long as you're communicating
00:22:05
with them telling them your situation
00:22:07
they can't come and evict you from their
00:22:09
property that's banking law that's some
00:22:11
of the things I've had to learn going
00:22:13
through all this rubbish that these
00:22:16
these [ __ ] put me through these
00:22:18
people like Dana White and the all these
00:22:20
crooked criminals had to put me through
00:22:22
this or you know putting this false
00:22:24
narrative that that I have CT and all
00:22:27
this rubish but these are the things
00:22:28
I've had to go through I've had to sell
00:22:29
de everything I've had to borrow money
00:22:32
you know this [ __ ] really really annoys
00:22:34
me and you know what and [ __ ] these guys
00:22:37
you know I tell that how is how it is
00:22:39
and that's the truth that is the bottom
00:22:40
line about this this whole [ __ ]
00:22:42
situation that's why people don't
00:22:44
probably get into law like this because
00:22:46
emotionally mentally it takes a toll
00:22:48
financially it takes a toll you know at
00:22:51
the end of the day it's who whoever is
00:22:54
you know the sad thing about this for me
00:22:55
is my family has to sit on this Walker
00:22:58
with me regardless of what happens
00:23:00
whether you know whether it went good or
00:23:01
not they they had to come on this
00:23:04
journey whether whether whether had won
00:23:07
this journey or not they had no choice
00:23:09
and that's something I shouldn't I
00:23:11
should have spoken to my my ex-wife
00:23:13
about it and my family about it before I
00:23:15
actually did it but you know me I'm a
00:23:17
I'm a I'm a I'm a I'm I'm an Aries I'm a
00:23:19
bull out of the gate I'm shreded again
00:23:21
you know if you want to rumble I'm
00:23:23
[ __ ] rumbling come on you know and
00:23:25
that's the problem when you're you're so
00:23:27
pigheaded and you don't see stra unless
00:23:30
until it's too late but you know like I
00:23:32
said I you know I have 100% in God's in
00:23:35
my faith in God and what this is uh the
00:23:37
challenges of of life with this whole
00:23:38
scenario and you you know all the people
00:23:42
that that's
00:23:43
um they benefit from this um this
00:23:47
equality of of sport in any sport they
00:23:51
can understand that they can go to a
00:23:52
sport competition whether it be rugby
00:23:54
rugby league and know that that person
00:23:56
is the same like them not enhanced by
00:23:58
drugs and everything that's what they
00:24:00
can 100% know because the precedent
00:24:02
guarantees that because otherwise you
00:24:04
can just sue them right away give me
00:24:08
$350,000 blah blah blah blah the whole
00:24:11
the whole the whole shebang yeah oh
00:24:14
thanks for sharing that stuff that's
00:24:15
interesting to get um an Insight from
00:24:17
your perspective uh this shit's been
00:24:19
going on for a very long
00:24:21
time well I did say to you seven years
00:24:24
seven and a half years my lawers were
00:24:26
corrupted um it took me you know nearly
00:24:28
eight years to find that out and then
00:24:31
when I actually started to buy the
00:24:32
bullet and change the way things were
00:24:34
it's taken two years to bring it back to
00:24:36
way it was November the 20th 20th I had
00:24:39
oral argument as the proo litigant um in
00:24:43
their case um I 100 if you watch that
00:24:47
oral argument online 100% won the case
00:24:50
um so all we're waiting for now is just
00:24:52
the judges to mandate mandate the hunt
00:24:55
precedent into law right now um I I
00:24:58
think I explained everything to you
00:24:59
about this you know right now anyone
00:25:01
that's called cheating that's blocking
00:25:03
you from winning you can sue them in
00:25:05
America that that that statute to the
00:25:08
claim is
00:25:09
$350,000 us yeah oh good on you mark
00:25:12
thanks for sharing that hey um I've got
00:25:14
some other um that that we can draw a
00:25:16
line on the sand with the UFC and move
00:25:18
on from that for now because there's so
00:25:19
much more so much more to your story to
00:25:21
talk about um funny story so do you know
00:25:25
Dan hooker very
00:25:26
well I like I said I I know most of the
00:25:29
fighters especially as kiwi ones and
00:25:31
Australian ones I I'm 100% supportive of
00:25:34
all the fighters um yeah I know I don't
00:25:37
know him like um intimately like I I
00:25:39
think he's a a great fighter and um you
00:25:42
know he's like me he's like a he's got
00:25:44
no quit in him he's like he's he's a
00:25:46
real fighter so yeah because I I had Dan
00:25:48
on the podcast um about a month ago and
00:25:50
he told a funny story about you I don't
00:25:51
know if you saw the clip on Instagram or
00:25:53
anything um but I think the question was
00:25:56
something like what's the funniest thing
00:25:57
you've seen behind the scenes at UFC and
00:25:59
he told a story about um being Backstage
00:26:01
on the same card as you uh your trainers
00:26:04
told you to get up and do some kicks
00:26:06
apparently you sigh and rolled your eyes
00:26:08
you got up and you kicked this bag about
00:26:10
six or seven times and then you were
00:26:11
like n I'm done sat back down again then
00:26:14
went out and destroyed your opponent and
00:26:16
uh he said that gave him the realization
00:26:18
that there's not one way to do it you
00:26:20
can do it your way um and that was his
00:26:22
takeaway from um from you which I
00:26:24
thought was pretty
00:26:26
cool yeah it is pretty cool I mean I
00:26:28
like I everyone operates differently and
00:26:30
um you know everyone's different I mean
00:26:32
you know that's not probably the
00:26:34
standard for people but um you know you
00:26:37
you just you didn't like wasting your
00:26:40
energy
00:26:41
or well no I for me I've realized you
00:26:44
know for this whole you know I'm I'm the
00:26:46
captain of the ship the mark you know
00:26:49
Mar's the fighter I'm the captain
00:26:51
everyone under me gets paid off me so if
00:26:54
we've done all the work beforehand um
00:26:56
and I feel a bit like this we'll do it
00:26:58
how I want and that's it so I mean like
00:27:01
I said you asks anyone else that does it
00:27:03
it's different
00:27:04
so probably people just you know people
00:27:07
always bag me about not training as hard
00:27:08
as this and that but you know if that's
00:27:10
that story Fu that's that's exactly me
00:27:14
in a nut show anyway sir yeah as long
00:27:16
well you get the job done it does
00:27:17
doesn't matter how does
00:27:20
it um um another something I didn't even
00:27:23
realize I missed this completely being
00:27:25
in NZ but um yeah you had a fight with
00:27:27
sunny Bill Williams and you um yeah I
00:27:29
watched that online yesterday so this
00:27:32
this was one of your final fights and it
00:27:33
was a fourth round win you got them
00:27:35
pretty
00:27:36
good yeah I was like I said I was just
00:27:38
you know I've explained to the whole
00:27:39
situation with the law that I had to
00:27:41
make money they called me when I was on
00:27:43
the couch and you know of course I'm I'm
00:27:44
a prize Farm I go and make some money um
00:27:47
it was you know even though they [ __ ]
00:27:48
ripped me off the pieces of [ __ ] um you
00:27:52
know so you know um end of the day I
00:27:55
went got my money and did a job and
00:27:57
that's it even though they [ __ ] gave
00:27:58
me they' done done a number on me does
00:28:01
it hurt when Sunny Bill punches or no
00:28:03
not
00:28:04
really look man I um I like Sunny Bill
00:28:07
he's a great athlete but
00:28:09
um um you
00:28:12
know yeah it is what it is like you know
00:28:15
anyone that hits you you like I said I'm
00:28:18
I'm a season prize
00:28:20
fighter what are the best and worst
00:28:22
memories of your fighting
00:28:24
career to be honest D the whole the
00:28:27
whole fighting career has been a
00:28:29
nightmare because of this lawsuit um I
00:28:33
don't have many fun memories especially
00:28:35
when you have to deal
00:28:36
with
00:28:38
crooked um companies and Enterprise
00:28:40
because they're all trying to take
00:28:41
advantage of us it shouldn't be um me it
00:28:44
shouldn't be the the the the the TV
00:28:47
paying the company paying you you
00:28:50
getting paid the last it should be the
00:28:52
other round you're the you're the boss
00:28:54
of whatever you know you're fighting
00:28:56
company so who is even ever's under you
00:28:58
should be getting paid it shouldn't be
00:28:59
the management getting paid to you so
00:29:02
there's been a lot of disappointment
00:29:03
appointments with um with priz fighting
00:29:05
um the biggest one was um the case I
00:29:09
just finished yeah but it seems I I
00:29:11
don't know this is just the perception
00:29:13
I've got from um like reading about you
00:29:14
and watching you online seems like the
00:29:16
actual fighting but you you really enjoy
00:29:18
like you thrive you look at home in the
00:29:20
ring or the Octagon um is it just the
00:29:23
the the external [ __ ] that's um put
00:29:25
a dampner on the whole thing for you it
00:29:27
is it's it's dealing with crooked
00:29:29
managers is dealing with crooked
00:29:31
companies you know trying to shaft you
00:29:33
of money it's dealing with a whole lot
00:29:35
of [ __ ] and you amongst all that [ __ ]
00:29:37
you've got to go and actually
00:29:38
train um you know people you know what's
00:29:41
funny I go to some parage and they said
00:29:43
oh man I they look at me goes man I
00:29:45
don't know how you do it and this I look
00:29:47
at them I goes what do you mean I don't
00:29:49
know how you do it and then said me I
00:29:52
don't know how you can be a prize I get
00:29:53
punched in the head for your for a
00:29:54
living and I said and I said asked him
00:29:56
what do you do for a living you you go
00:29:58
to work you sit in the car for8 hours
00:30:00
you go to get paid a minimum wage so you
00:30:02
can be what go on a holiday once a year
00:30:04
with your
00:30:05
family it's not me bro I just said you
00:30:07
know so who's the crazy one here yeah
00:30:10
yeah it's been good for you like there's
00:30:11
been some good good wins over the years
00:30:13
he like I read about the um the K1 um
00:30:16
world title in um 20 2001 was it and you
00:30:21
won like you P payday of like half a
00:30:23
million
00:30:24
bucks well yeah well coming from a you
00:30:27
know really small earns to um um to
00:30:30
being the world champion is is you know
00:30:32
someone like me I didn't have any money
00:30:34
of course it was it was a great to to
00:30:36
get my first work contract as as a prize
00:30:38
fighter uh and being the best kickboxer
00:30:41
in the world at the time so you know
00:30:42
being 27 years of age of age you know
00:30:45
signing my first contract even though I
00:30:47
got ripped I was great
00:30:49
yeah um when you reflect on on the
00:30:52
career is there anything you wish you
00:30:53
did
00:30:55
differently no I mean I could have
00:30:58
trained a lot harder but you
00:31:02
know you know I could have I could have
00:31:04
stop smoking you know I could have stop
00:31:06
smoking instead of eight week weeks
00:31:08
before the world
00:31:11
title there's a lot of there's a lot of
00:31:14
things I could have done you know that
00:31:16
that um that I could I reflect on that
00:31:18
could be different but um you know it is
00:31:20
what it is and I like I said I I leave
00:31:22
it all in God's hands and that's it you
00:31:24
know that's where we are now so and life
00:31:27
after fighting like what do you see
00:31:28
yourself doing over the next couple of
00:31:32
decades I have a I have a lot of plans
00:31:34
going on like I said I I have a lot of
00:31:37
things that I'm I'm doing um especially
00:31:39
like philanthropy I see a lot of you
00:31:41
know I've got a lot of my my ex partner
00:31:43
was um um a philanthropist manager and
00:31:45
that's what I'll be doing a lot of
00:31:46
philanthropy I've got a lot of things in
00:31:48
my mind that I'm doing um with helping
00:31:51
with philanthropy um I want to have my
00:31:54
own football team in the next couple of
00:31:55
years in the NRL I want to um wow want
00:31:59
to open my own bank and um my own bank
00:32:02
there's a lot of things I want to have
00:32:03
my own private hospital and a private
00:32:04
school going so there's a lot of things
00:32:06
I've gotten on the works um and they're
00:32:08
all you know just it's all in a matter
00:32:10
of time so yeah brilliant hey I see on
00:32:13
Instagram you coming and yeah actually
00:32:15
you shared it on your story as well so
00:32:17
I've got a bunch of um questions here
00:32:19
from markad fans uh training schedule
00:32:22
when you first
00:32:24
started well I'm a big gamer so there
00:32:26
was you know it was uh there was no
00:32:28
training schedule was just uh you know
00:32:31
if there's a fight on you know you know
00:32:33
the only time I started taking it
00:32:34
seriously it was like um when I um when
00:32:37
I moved here when I was in I here when I
00:32:39
fought for the first Oceana in
00:32:41
2000 um I took fights on a lot of short
00:32:44
notice um there hardly any train I mean
00:32:47
my first but was after 4 days
00:32:49
notice
00:32:51
um oh can I just oh
00:32:54
yeah yeah do what you got to man yeah so
00:32:57
so yeah
00:33:00
um the
00:33:02
[ __ ] this is the most this is going to
00:33:05
go down as the most chaotic podcast ever
00:33:07
and I'm not disappointed I'm here for it
00:33:10
back sorry no you're right uh I just I
00:33:15
just I just don't know yeah so yeah
00:33:18
sorry about that my my son messaged me
00:33:19
so I had to um make sure he's okay so
00:33:22
yeah um what were we talking about oh um
00:33:25
the training schedule when you first
00:33:27
started that a question it was it was it
00:33:29
wasn't that good I didn't have no um it
00:33:31
was actually pretty much my fault but as
00:33:32
I went along became a pro fighter I
00:33:35
started doing training schedules
00:33:37
properly and uh you know trying try to
00:33:39
do things properly so um yeah in the
00:33:41
stter was not that good I didn't want to
00:33:42
be a fighter for my life yeah um but I
00:33:45
think like I said with any God I think
00:33:47
it was what made me a prize fighter so
00:33:49
yeah oh and you you've been very good at
00:33:51
it someone wants to know what's the most
00:33:52
you've ever
00:33:54
weighed [ __ ] I'm a fat ass right now I'm
00:33:57
like 160
00:33:58
kilos probably he is he asking me about
00:34:01
a a fight that I had or I I don't know
00:34:03
yeah that's just the question I'm just
00:34:04
reading it out as it was okay so I mean
00:34:08
probably uh I was probably 183 kilos
00:34:12
right now I'm 163 you I've got some
00:34:15
[ __ ] titties and some you know
00:34:17
big but yeah I'm 163 kilos now I I am
00:34:22
I'm you know 50 years of age but I'm I'm
00:34:24
excited of um to be actually to be
00:34:26
getting back to training and um looking
00:34:28
after myself I've just had a lot of like
00:34:30
I explained to you yeah I've been um
00:34:33
immersed in a lawsuit that's uh nearly
00:34:35
cost in my life in my family's life so
00:34:37
it's been very hard but um you know as a
00:34:40
you know as a as a as a warrior and a
00:34:41
fighter you know I've come through with
00:34:43
flying colors and um you know like I
00:34:45
said I'm about to get my life back and
00:34:47
and enjoy the fruits of my labor and
00:34:49
start looking after my stuff like
00:34:50
training so yeah even though I don't
00:34:52
like training I'm actually excited about
00:34:54
going to do training so yeah uh aside
00:34:57
from trolling people and gold star
00:34:59
mocking skills what other hidden talents
00:35:01
does Mark hunt
00:35:03
have well I can sit on my ass for like
00:35:06
20 hours straight playing
00:35:08
games I'm a I'm a big gamer you
00:35:11
know but that's the thing though bro
00:35:14
with with Al an Ulta ego as a gamer us
00:35:17
Gamers know how to troll hard you know I
00:35:19
if if my day is boring I just go online
00:35:21
and talk [ __ ] to people say you know we
00:35:23
just have a a [ __ ] uh especially
00:35:25
online gaming it's crazy so you know my
00:35:27
Alter Ego is pretty pretty Fierce man
00:35:30
it's racist it's Fierce it's it's bro
00:35:33
it's mental yeah well I mean these
00:35:35
there's that term like keyboard Warriors
00:35:37
but it's like hey that's me yeah that's
00:35:40
me I'm I'm an actual keyboard Warrior
00:35:42
because you know because I'm always on
00:35:44
there talking [ __ ] to people no I'm
00:35:46
honestly I'm the worst troll especially
00:35:49
when it comes to gaming I have a group
00:35:50
of friends that I game with and I just
00:35:53
constantly told these people I was like
00:35:54
you [ __ ] cheating and the worst thing
00:35:56
is cheaters especially online they're
00:35:59
always cheating these [ __ ] I'm
00:36:00
like you cheating [ __ ] and you
00:36:03
know what the funny thing is this
00:36:05
[ __ ] fat piece of [ __ ] named gabin
00:36:07
who actually owns Counter Strike he's
00:36:09
actually in New Zealand you should go
00:36:11
tie that [ __ ] up and say I want all my
00:36:13
[ __ ] money back from all the money I
00:36:14
spent on your [ __ ]
00:36:16
game all the skins that I spent because
00:36:19
you don't do something about the
00:36:20
cheaters bro ja that [ __ ] is in
00:36:24
New Zealand
00:36:26
and uh you you know you love him but he
00:36:29
could have done something because he
00:36:30
owns that game Counter Strike M he could
00:36:33
have you know made it so us guys don't
00:36:35
get on the online and our gaming
00:36:37
experience isn't toxic ex you know he
00:36:40
could have just said I'm going to make
00:36:42
it sure that this these guys don't get
00:36:44
cheated because people just go online
00:36:45
and they they download hacks and they
00:36:47
just cheat you out of your game
00:36:48
experience so and I get really toxic
00:36:50
when I play a gamer you know I get
00:36:52
really toxic like really toxic man yeah
00:36:55
so sorry for laughing but I I'm just I'm
00:36:57
glad you had a good laugh you know I'm
00:36:59
here to make your day by laughing great
00:37:01
that's fine yeah no I'm loving loving
00:37:03
the um the animation and the passion um
00:37:06
f someone wants to know what's your
00:37:07
favorite place in the world to
00:37:10
visit it's always home um you know and
00:37:13
for me home is Australia now but you
00:37:14
know uh CU for me is where my kids are
00:37:17
is where we hom is so you know Australia
00:37:20
is the best you know for me is to be
00:37:22
home like and and I feel home here in
00:37:24
Australia because my this is my family
00:37:26
my kids are here so
00:37:28
yeah I'll always be a kiwi [ __ ]
00:37:30
always be a kiwi there's no doubt about
00:37:32
that but um yeah where abouts in Sydney
00:37:35
do you
00:37:37
live at West uh camel toown so like uh
00:37:40
Western Sydney yeah and you do you still
00:37:42
feel a connection to South
00:37:46
Oakland well like uh you know I I I
00:37:49
think I spoke in another podcast about
00:37:50
South Oakland for me it saddens me but
00:37:52
like I said I've got when I come back to
00:37:54
New Zealand I've got a lot of
00:37:56
philanthropy I've G to do um for New
00:37:58
Zealand and what I want to do in in in
00:38:00
in their country um especially because I
00:38:04
want what I'm going to do with the
00:38:05
government here in Australia to start
00:38:06
with out here so um to helping a lot of
00:38:09
the youth because I understand that
00:38:10
because I'm from that um you know I've
00:38:12
been a jail um and I know like her son
00:38:15
is who 16 when the kids you know get a
00:38:18
message from the police saying you know
00:38:21
it's kind of sad but there's 40 um
00:38:25
Africans running around machetes please
00:38:27
stay
00:38:28
home when they get messages that that's
00:38:31
[ __ ] sad so that that
00:38:34
shows you know the kind of danger that
00:38:36
is and for me is
00:38:38
like uh you know you take it for what it
00:38:40
is but you know like I said I the the
00:38:43
the the kind of things I want to do to
00:38:44
help that is um with my the football
00:38:47
team and you know have something for the
00:38:48
kids to to look forward to instead of
00:38:50
you know being scared of of staying home
00:38:52
and you know like uh and also like do
00:38:54
the same thing out here in Western
00:38:56
Sydney but but you know um um it's a
00:38:58
real eye opener because I I love um I'm
00:39:01
I'm from the ghetto I'm a ghetto person
00:39:03
and I love I fit right into these kind
00:39:05
of places you know so for me that's but
00:39:08
to see that kind of text message from to
00:39:10
a young kid but that's for to every kid
00:39:12
in that area to stay home that's
00:39:16
dangerous there's 40 Africans running
00:39:18
around Mercedes what the
00:39:19
[ __ ] that's you know and and I realized
00:39:23
a lot of the cops down there with the
00:39:24
underfund or whatever are so [ __ ]
00:39:26
useless you know you got to be dying
00:39:28
before they even come out these guys are
00:39:31
[ __ ] useless I swear but um like I
00:39:35
said there's a lot of things that that
00:39:36
you can help with um the certain
00:39:37
situations and areas but um you know
00:39:40
like I I'm from it I already
00:39:42
know um what it's like down there with
00:39:44
these sort of areas so yeah yeah I've
00:39:46
got a few more questions from your
00:39:48
Instagram fans and then um yeah with
00:39:50
your permission we we'll talk about some
00:39:52
of your early experiences if you if
00:39:54
you're okay with that hey man I got all
00:39:56
day to make your [ __ ] hell sweet oh
00:39:59
no no that's yeah there not not a lot
00:40:00
laughing there man I [ __ ] Dr I didn't
00:40:04
have um after we set this interview up I
00:40:06
didn't have time to um buy a copy of
00:40:08
your book it was going to take tooo long
00:40:09
to arrive arrive but um you can go
00:40:11
online and get a sneak peek and read
00:40:13
like the first 25 or 30 pages for free
00:40:15
so I did that m i I had [ __ ] tears in
00:40:17
my eyes it's it's um I felt really sad
00:40:20
for you the the little boy Mark hunt but
00:40:22
anyway we can talk about that soon if
00:40:23
you want yeah oh um 12 can I can I just
00:40:28
start can I keep talking to but can I
00:40:30
drive cuz I've got to I've got to go
00:40:32
pick up my daughter she's like uh my
00:40:34
girls are at school but they finish
00:40:36
early today because it is Wednesday
00:40:37
right yeah Wes so if I can just drive
00:40:39
and keep talking even though it's
00:40:40
illegal
00:40:41
but okay um honest who's going to tell
00:40:44
the cops are they yeah from Instagram
00:40:47
someone said um I'm 17 years old can
00:40:50
Mark please tell me what he thinks it
00:40:51
means to be a man oh that's
00:40:55
deep well first of all
00:41:00
um first of all taking accountability
00:41:02
for what you've done if you've done
00:41:04
wrong and I've done some [ __ ] up [ __ ]
00:41:07
yeah taking accountability for for what
00:41:09
you've done uh what what [ __ ] you've
00:41:11
done in your life so owning up to um
00:41:14
whether it be you know all the all the
00:41:16
the [ __ ] that you've done wrong probably
00:41:17
as a man and and uh realizing you you
00:41:20
know that sort of [ __ ] so yeah did you
00:41:22
hear that yeah yeah just basically
00:41:24
owning owning your
00:41:26
[ __ ] yeah um yeah taking accountability
00:41:29
to be honest what's your greatest
00:41:31
achievement outside of
00:41:34
fighting most likely my children you
00:41:37
know my
00:41:39
kids yeah yeah you're a proud Dad aren't
00:41:41
you how many children do you
00:41:43
have I have six yeah know so you you
00:41:47
mentioned your ex a couple of times do
00:41:48
you do you live with your ex or are you
00:41:50
married a second
00:41:52
time I'm not married again I i' I I'm
00:41:55
actually we have a relationship that I
00:41:57
can just stand in her place so like I
00:41:59
told you we've been having a lot of
00:42:01
issues financially and um you know we've
00:42:03
finally come through all that [ __ ] um
00:42:06
you know and um I'm about to move to uh
00:42:09
back to Sydney and um get my own place
00:42:13
my own places uh you know um I think
00:42:16
I've pretty much explained to you the
00:42:17
whole scenario with
00:42:19
that uh yeah what's what was what has
00:42:22
been the lowest point of his
00:42:25
life um
00:42:27
dealing with this lawsuit um you know
00:42:30
it's been really like I said it it makes
00:42:32
me emotional because um you know I I
00:42:35
didn't you know break out in tears but
00:42:38
um it's been really strenuous and
00:42:40
stressful because I've had to
00:42:42
deal
00:42:44
um deal with this whole scenario you
00:42:47
know while being you know made fun
00:42:51
of globally you know there's a toll an
00:42:54
America an American law it's called
00:42:56
tolling
00:42:57
so the damage will start to here and
00:43:01
until it's actually stopped like for
00:43:03
this lawsuit the damage started in 2016
00:43:07
when I filed this appeal and it's it's
00:43:10
come all this way to
00:43:11
2025 the the toing stops when the when
00:43:15
the judges mandate this into law so
00:43:17
it'll continue and keep keep turn
00:43:20
continuing and it's called toing so when
00:43:22
it stops is when they M mandate to
00:43:24
preach into law yeah are you quite an
00:43:26
emotional guy these
00:43:28
days well this these things have made me
00:43:32
uh this lawsuit is is is is um you know
00:43:35
it's been a hard burden to carry man you
00:43:37
know I've I've I've broken down by
00:43:39
myself a lot of times and you know and I
00:43:42
asked God for you know for guidance and
00:43:44
assistance especially with this whole
00:43:46
scenario it's been
00:43:51
hard partner and us working together you
00:43:54
know the the the future Sports people
00:43:57
and sports men and women and Fighters
00:43:59
will not benefit from an even playing
00:44:01
field cuz the end of the day this all
00:44:04
this was was about was an even playing
00:44:05
field yeah and that's what the hunt
00:44:07
preent creates it creates that that Line
00:44:10
in the Sand where it says if you're
00:44:12
cheating you're getting a battery charge
00:44:13
on your on your amongst other things you
00:44:16
know and it's not just and for me when
00:44:20
someone takes like for instance Lance
00:44:24
Armstrong that guy built an Empire of
00:44:27
lying and cheating to people he even
00:44:30
suited the people that said that that
00:44:32
brought that thing to him and it took a
00:44:33
while for his his little facade to come
00:44:36
down but it came down eventually yeah do
00:44:37
you understand what I mean yes but in
00:44:39
between that that that that damage was
00:44:42
all the people in between that that
00:44:44
their kids don't get the benefits for
00:44:46
the kids that you know that the father
00:44:47
can't give them the benefits that they
00:44:49
should have even though the number one
00:44:51
to number 43 which all cheating
00:44:53
[ __ ] you know what I mean yeah
00:44:55
so all their families suffered and it
00:44:59
should have been the 44th guy that
00:45:00
wasn't cheating that his kids should
00:45:02
have got all the benefits but in this
00:45:04
day and age in societ it doesn't work
00:45:05
like that but um this is what the hunt
00:45:08
preent does it it it evens that playing
00:45:11
field so as I said I started reading
00:45:13
your book um Born to Fight um by the way
00:45:16
you got a quote from Dwayne Johnson on
00:45:18
the cover do you do you do you know the
00:45:19
rock how how did that come
00:45:22
about well of course he's my cousin
00:45:25
nowok
00:45:27
everyone you know I don't know him
00:45:29
personally like I said and I you know
00:45:31
the way I feel about him now I wouldn't
00:45:33
want to know him before it'll be
00:45:35
different you know him being a
00:45:36
Polynesian and you know outstanding
00:45:38
person of the islands you know his
00:45:41
standards could have helped and done a
00:45:43
lot of different things but you know who
00:45:44
am I have judged someone that's uh of
00:45:46
that stature doing these things which
00:45:48
you could have done but you know who
00:45:49
knows I I can't judge because I don't
00:45:51
know him personally yeah um you know he
00:45:53
he tweeted me one time and that's
00:45:56
because he was part of the us see the
00:45:57
company and you know I didn't know he
00:45:59
tweeted me until 6 months later but you
00:46:01
know and then I tweeted him back he
00:46:03
didn't
00:46:04
reply you so but you know the truth was
00:46:08
like I said I I am not a cousin I don't
00:46:10
know the rock personally or or um have
00:46:13
cousins with him but um yeah well it's
00:46:16
it's pretty cool to have like a quote
00:46:17
from him on the cover so yes so your
00:46:19
book born to fire um so you you just
00:46:22
told your stories to a guy called Ben
00:46:25
Meli and um and he he sort of wrote it
00:46:28
in your words um I've read some articles
00:46:30
with him about the the experience and he
00:46:33
said you you had your walls up and then
00:46:35
after a while you managed to like break
00:46:37
those walls down and show a bit of
00:46:38
vulnerability and it's one of the most
00:46:40
um you know raw and authentic Sports
00:46:43
books I think I've ever read um how how
00:46:45
did you learn to drop your
00:46:48
walls well it started because you know
00:46:50
there's a lot of uh a lot of uh pain and
00:46:53
a lot of bad things that happened to us
00:46:55
as children but for me
00:46:57
if if if if if if my sister wasn't I see
00:47:00
to B I don't know much about my
00:47:02
childhood I don't remember much because
00:47:04
I have an ability to block [ __ ] out I
00:47:06
think it's a best thing for you to do is
00:47:08
to go speak to my sister because um
00:47:11
she's the one that that's um she got the
00:47:13
most damage from this whole scenario
00:47:14
apart from you know well actually you
00:47:16
know my brother John killed himself and
00:47:18
my other brother Steve's got still got
00:47:20
he's got schizophrenia from this whole
00:47:22
this whole bunch of rubbish so I mean um
00:47:27
uh so that's how I was able to speak on
00:47:29
stuff um was was he went to see my
00:47:32
sister first and then she was able to
00:47:35
explain or or speak on a lot of things
00:47:37
so it made it easier for me and um so
00:47:40
how a ghost writer works is they go and
00:47:41
speak to different people you've
00:47:42
mentioned and they get their take on on
00:47:45
what happened at the time they know you
00:47:46
so that's it yes so your sister Victoria
00:47:50
who you're talking about she's the um
00:47:51
she's the eldest of the family right
00:47:53
she's five years older than you yes yeah
00:47:56
so the the book starts um like chapter
00:47:58
one first paragraph with um um a passage
00:48:03
from her um she says Mark was still a
00:48:05
baby when all hell broke loose he would
00:48:08
be black and blue from head to toe often
00:48:11
I'd have to wash away the blood massage
00:48:13
the bruises and put salt on his wounds
00:48:16
so Dad could give him another hiding at
00:48:18
about 5 so this is when she was 10 Mark
00:48:21
became a thief and a violent Maniac but
00:48:23
how would he know any better he didn't
00:48:25
even understand what love was until he
00:48:27
met Julie mate that's just [ __ ]
00:48:31
heartbreaking yeah I
00:48:34
um yeah like I said it's uh I think I've
00:48:38
made it like for me to to be able to to
00:48:40
block pain up block situations up
00:48:42
because that's a coping mechanism for me
00:48:44
is I'm like I'm like the master of it
00:48:47
you know what I mean so what I don't
00:48:48
remember or don't remind me of I don't
00:48:50
have to deal with it so it's like with
00:48:53
fighting you know like with any loss
00:48:55
that I have i' I it's for me it's easy
00:48:57
to just say [ __ ] move on you know so
00:49:00
that's how I dealt with my childhood is
00:49:01
is like uh to block it all so um that's
00:49:05
why when when Ben mavi asked me about it
00:49:07
I said I don't really remember my I
00:49:09
remember certain things that he spoke
00:49:11
about when it triggered me what my S my
00:49:13
sister spoke about um and I goes well I
00:49:16
do remember that so you know yeah we
00:49:19
just had a pretty rough rough go at life
00:49:21
you know with the cars we got dealt with
00:49:24
would well I mean a lot of people got
00:49:26
dealt with but it's kind of you know
00:49:27
it's how you deal with them to be honest
00:49:30
um so for me like I said I couldn't help
00:49:32
my sister as a young kid but as an adult
00:49:35
like you know I run into things I'm
00:49:36
always the person trying to stand up for
00:49:38
everybody for anyone yeah that's why do
00:49:42
you think yeah taking on a bully like um
00:49:44
like Dana White in the UFC like do you
00:49:45
think um part of that sort of steams
00:49:48
like from your childhood and you know
00:49:49
just not taking [ __ ] from bullies
00:49:51
anymore now that you now that you're
00:49:52
able to stand up 100% yeah and it didn't
00:49:56
matter
00:49:57
and it was like I couldn't it to my dad
00:50:00
because you know my dad is all powerful
00:50:02
and even hurt him and uh and that's how
00:50:04
I felt about him because he scared the
00:50:06
[ __ ] out of me all of us um you know
00:50:08
like I said I spent months without going
00:50:10
to school because you know he bats us
00:50:12
well better me and people that try to
00:50:15
bully it it um it really makes me um
00:50:19
Angry yeah you know and I like I said I
00:50:22
don't
00:50:23
really I hate people that that try to
00:50:25
stand over other people I hate them I
00:50:27
absolutely hate them um and that goes
00:50:30
with anything you know if you're if
00:50:32
you're you know built different if
00:50:35
you're the powerful person or you're
00:50:36
stronger you're supposed to help others
00:50:38
yeah was it not um not
00:50:43
um yeah was was there any like when you
00:50:46
reflect on your childhood was there like
00:50:48
any glimpses of happiness at all like I
00:50:50
know you were sent to s for a year when
00:50:52
you were like four or five like was was
00:50:54
that a good time or was there was there
00:50:56
any good time
00:50:58
s yeah man I like I said I don't even
00:51:00
know you know my my family's my brothers
00:51:03
and sisters birth dates I have no clue I
00:51:05
only know about my my mom was like uh a
00:51:08
few years older than than my auntie
00:51:11
because I just met my auntie you know um
00:51:13
recently and um you know she's 85 now
00:51:17
and she's strong and fit as a fiddle and
00:51:18
the story she's been telling me about my
00:51:20
mom makes me look at her in a different
00:51:22
light yeah you know cuz my mom had to
00:51:24
deal with with a piece of [ __ ] father
00:51:28
that was like a tyrant so um you know
00:51:30
and I said to her why didn't she do
00:51:32
something about it she'd rather sit
00:51:33
there and suffer with the rest of us
00:51:35
yeah [ __ ] leave his punk ass you know
00:51:39
and that's what's you know
00:51:41
um uh what's really annoying about this
00:51:44
whole situation and scenario because the
00:51:49
stuff that you hear later on from family
00:51:51
members like my auntie you know makes
00:51:54
you think you know a little bit
00:51:55
differently about but you know my dad's
00:51:57
always going to be my dad even though
00:51:59
he's a piece of [ __ ] but um I'm glad
00:52:03
he's made me the way I am you know I
00:52:06
might be um
00:52:08
yeah I just pull up to the school and
00:52:10
park and then yeah okay you you you say
00:52:13
you you're glad he made you the man you
00:52:14
are but um I I'd dispute that and say
00:52:16
like You' he's he's had no hand in this
00:52:19
like you've done everything you've done
00:52:20
this yourself um like no but you're
00:52:23
wrong you're wrong there you're wrong
00:52:25
because well you know for instance he's
00:52:28
made me the the person I am today
00:52:30
because I never want to be like
00:52:31
him I've learned everything from him and
00:52:34
that's easy don't be a piece of [ __ ]
00:52:36
like him and you'll be okay you know and
00:52:39
that's that's thank you Dad I I never
00:52:41
want to be like you cuz you're a piece
00:52:43
of [ __ ] and now I'm a good person you
00:52:45
know I don't know trying to you know
00:52:48
yeah so yeah so yeah that's that's why
00:52:51
that's when I say to you I've learned
00:52:52
everything from him because he's a piece
00:52:54
of [ __ ] even though I should have laugh
00:52:57
but um he's made me the strong the
00:53:00
strong resilient person I am to endure
00:53:02
pain um enoy Affliction um enjoy
00:53:06
suffering and that's it you know come
00:53:08
out on the other side like I said God
00:53:09
only puts someone as great as Warriors
00:53:11
to do these things and this thing like I
00:53:13
told you the lawsuit man it's taking a
00:53:15
real toll on me like it
00:53:18
it's it's taking a real massive toll on
00:53:21
me on my whole
00:53:22
life but it's done now so you know um
00:53:26
yeah
00:53:27
yeah what's um I mean it's it's probably
00:53:30
hard to compare because you know they're
00:53:32
very very different things and one's
00:53:33
more recent but yeah what's been a a
00:53:35
harder battle the the recent legal
00:53:37
battle or your
00:53:39
childhood well like I said the childhood
00:53:41
I can I can I can block I can I if I
00:53:45
don't remember it's never happened um
00:53:48
the laws she's taken at all because it's
00:53:50
it's not just me involved you has been
00:53:52
it's my family involved you know they're
00:53:54
trolling my kids you know I mean or you
00:53:57
know they you know been trolling me uh
00:53:59
globally you know for doing the right
00:54:01
thing you know they just you know their
00:54:03
narrative on me like I explained earlier
00:54:05
was a false narrative put on me by the
00:54:08
UFC but you know I know know for a fact
00:54:12
I can tell you that that Dana White and
00:54:14
all his cohorts Dana White
00:54:16
at they know the the the landscape has
00:54:20
changed and the title waves when it
00:54:22
hammers them they're going to they have
00:54:24
serious serious problems
00:54:27
you know his problem right now is
00:54:29
finding a way to get to to stay out of
00:54:31
jail which he will be going to jail and
00:54:33
the rest of his cohorts um these other
00:54:36
these other factions that were part of
00:54:38
this collusion I just need to go and
00:54:39
approach them that's what I will do
00:54:41
after this is put something in front of
00:54:43
them and says you owe me this otherwise
00:54:44
I'm going to drag you through
00:54:46
courts um and there's that and but but
00:54:50
who I can tell you I'm going to drag
00:54:52
through courts is my former Law Firm um
00:54:55
Christina Denning and Brer you
00:54:57
[ __ ] I'm going to drag you
00:54:59
through Court there's no amount of money
00:55:01
that that uh that I will take from you
00:55:03
guys that you know I'm going to take
00:55:04
your licenses and I'm going to take your
00:55:07
life like you try to take my
00:55:08
[Music]
00:55:10
life just um back to your dad for one
00:55:14
second there's one thing which um I'm
00:55:17
try I'm I'm trying to understand so it
00:55:19
was like awful childood just
00:55:21
unimaginably awful childhood for you and
00:55:23
your siblings uh you and your brothers
00:55:25
uh with subjected to regular and severe
00:55:27
beatings and psychological torture
00:55:30
basically um your sister was like raped
00:55:32
repeatedly from a young age when when
00:55:35
you got older and became a fighter and
00:55:37
experienced success you bought your
00:55:39
parents a
00:55:40
house now which which is like taking
00:55:44
taking the taking The High Ground and
00:55:45
being the better person why didn't you
00:55:48
um why didn't you just come back and
00:55:50
give him a
00:55:52
hiding well like I said to you man I um
00:55:55
I am
00:55:57
I mean I could have gave them I could
00:55:58
have done that when I got out of jail
00:55:59
when I was younger I could have done a
00:56:01
lot of those things but like I said
00:56:03
I I I I cope with these things and I
00:56:06
understand I blocked them up but I knew
00:56:07
a lot of the stuff was going on was
00:56:09
wrong why why I didn't hurt them or do
00:56:12
them because what I realized even then
00:56:15
is that someone had done it to them
00:56:17
they're just repeating the same the same
00:56:19
[ __ ] that happened to them the
00:56:21
difference with me is um I'm the one
00:56:24
that stopped it I stopped that cycle of
00:56:26
happening and I'm proud of that you know
00:56:28
I realized for my kids I stopped that
00:56:30
cycle of abuse um um for it to continue
00:56:34
so with my kids it's different they
00:56:35
never see that sort of [ __ ] they never
00:56:37
see Affliction you know they never gone
00:56:39
a day without in their lives you know
00:56:42
it's it's
00:56:43
uh it's something like I said you know
00:56:45
I've been brought up to be uh super
00:56:48
resilient and super strong um you know
00:56:51
through adversity that's that's that's
00:56:53
my [ __ ] you know to to survive through
00:56:55
these things that come out out the other
00:56:56
side which makes me a strong man a
00:56:58
strong strong man so what I don't like
00:57:01
is what I'm doing with our kids is um
00:57:04
they would be not as strong as I am I'm
00:57:06
not going to say they're going to be
00:57:07
weak but I'm not I'm going to say
00:57:08
they're not going to be as resilient as
00:57:10
strong as I am because they never had to
00:57:11
go through these to endure any of these
00:57:13
hardships yeah um why to answer your
00:57:16
question I don't know I just I why did I
00:57:19
did not hurt them I don't know I just I
00:57:21
saw them you know they're my family you
00:57:23
know you can pick and choose your
00:57:24
friends your family you can't m so you
00:57:27
know like even like I said after after
00:57:30
this you know when I go back when I come
00:57:31
back to New Zealand um I have to go and
00:57:34
you know get my sister and and my
00:57:36
brother a a house I have to organize
00:57:39
their endowment funds there's a lot of
00:57:41
things I have to do um and
00:57:44
that's that's that's something that's
00:57:46
not even a question I don't question
00:57:49
myself there's the same thing like like
00:57:51
uh buying them a house of
00:57:53
stay you know um
00:57:57
you know so that's that's for my Outlook
00:57:59
on that I don't know you know why I I I
00:58:03
I I did that I just you know I can I can
00:58:07
forgive someone um and that's what I've
00:58:10
been able to do a lot is is forgive
00:58:12
people that have have caused me harm I'm
00:58:14
glad I became a price F because because
00:58:16
if I said being a bad person I would
00:58:17
have got worse and worse and worse and I
00:58:19
would have been probably been a real
00:58:21
nightmare for society I would have been
00:58:23
a real nightmare for society and I know
00:58:25
that because I know the kind of person I
00:58:27
am and I'm glad that um God put fighting
00:58:29
in my life not only it saved my life but
00:58:32
it saved a lot of other people's lives
00:58:33
yeah yeah maybe P it's because you you
00:58:36
you you know you've got this physical
00:58:37
strength and um there's some power in
00:58:39
knowing you've got it not having to use
00:58:40
it I don't think it's about the physical
00:58:43
strength it's it's I think it's about
00:58:46
the the limits of what I will do yeah
00:58:48
you know and like anything think if
00:58:50
you're person you know you're a person
00:58:52
that thinks he's crazy you only meet
00:58:54
crazy until you meet crazy and that's
00:58:56
and that's every person there's a line
00:58:58
you don't cross yeah but for for certain
00:59:01
individuals they just you know that's
00:59:03
why they end up in jailing for murder
00:59:05
and doing all these things because they
00:59:06
didn't give a they just you know they'll
00:59:08
just continue and do these stupid things
00:59:11
whereas people that have a conscience
00:59:12
like I have a conscience now which I
00:59:14
didn't have a kid this is what happen so
00:59:17
well that's my thought personal that's
00:59:19
how I think about these scenarios and
00:59:21
why I they I felt I've dealt with them
00:59:23
this way yeah have have you whether it
00:59:25
be wrong or right that's just my
00:59:26
perspective yeah have you have you have
00:59:28
you done quite a bit of therapy and work
00:59:30
over the years yeah yeah I um what was
00:59:34
the Catalyst I've stopped sorry what was
00:59:36
the what was the Catalyst for going to
00:59:38
therapy like the Catalyst for going was
00:59:41
um exactly you know what was happening
00:59:44
to me like um I had to before I you know
00:59:47
the break up with my my marage me
00:59:50
dealing with issues like this I had to
00:59:51
go and cuz trauma comes for me was uh
00:59:54
for a lot of other people comes from
00:59:56
from childhood trauma so the my jealousy
00:59:59
and different things for my for my for
01:00:01
my wife ex-wife that she had to endure
01:00:03
because of the stuff that I enjoyed as a
01:00:05
kid it's from childhood trauma you've
01:00:07
got to go for me to be honest you know
01:00:10
I'll sit with a counselor and if I'm
01:00:12
explaining all these things she'll say
01:00:14
to me there's absolutely nothing wrong
01:00:16
with
01:00:16
you you know absolutely nothing like I
01:00:20
could be driving or something and I
01:00:21
could turn on a dime someone cut me off
01:00:23
I trying to kill him or you know it'll
01:00:25
be that stupid thing over sudden and
01:00:27
then speaking to her she'll
01:00:29
say she'll say that's exactly how you're
01:00:33
supposed to be for someone that's come
01:00:35
through your
01:00:36
life you know so how you deal with that
01:00:39
is you go to counseling and help you you
01:00:41
know recover and help you build yourself
01:00:43
and you know there's there's uh reasons
01:00:46
why you're like the way you are and
01:00:48
that's childhood trauma that's a lot of
01:00:50
people they get into trouble is they
01:00:52
haven't not dealed with their childhood
01:00:54
trauma you know as a man
01:00:56
we I think we start reflecting at the
01:00:58
age of 40 on on our past but um you know
01:01:02
if we can all go to counseling um to
01:01:05
speak to a counselor it's way better for
01:01:07
you I mean I a lot of people for me when
01:01:09
people say I only weak me go to
01:01:12
counseling man it's weak men that don't
01:01:14
go to counseling it's weak men that
01:01:16
don't go and look after themselves
01:01:17
because if you can't can't look after
01:01:20
your mental emotions you know and deal
01:01:23
with situations like like an adult man
01:01:26
that means you're like a you're still
01:01:29
you know you're a weak person so a weak
01:01:31
person that can't you
01:01:33
know like I saw this guy um his name uh
01:01:37
Steven situ he's talking about dealing
01:01:40
with emotions and he says Guys these
01:01:43
days they're weak they speak about this
01:01:44
and that well to me he's kind of weak
01:01:47
because and there's nothing wrong with
01:01:49
going accounting to deal with issues
01:01:50
like this for me he's weak because he he
01:01:54
says I have to deal with this [ __ ] as a
01:01:56
man no you're just weak yeah 100% yeah
01:01:59
there's um there's definite strength and
01:02:01
vulnerability and uh the more um you
01:02:04
know physically empowering uh people
01:02:06
like yourself talk about this I think
01:02:07
the better it is for everyone it sad of
01:02:10
s the platform to know it's okay well I
01:02:12
know if I didn't go to counseling and
01:02:15
and speak to someone um I would not be
01:02:17
able to cope or deal with it like I said
01:02:19
things will got real worse for me at the
01:02:21
time I started seeing the counselor and
01:02:23
um you know everything that that that's
01:02:25
come from the these uh the childhood
01:02:27
traumas is the way things you know
01:02:29
that's what made be a fighter and do
01:02:32
these sort of things which is not good
01:02:33
so you know um being able to cope with
01:02:36
these certain things I've I've been able
01:02:38
to do with a counselor which is really
01:02:39
great so you know I don't sit there and
01:02:41
try to you know um do something to
01:02:44
people that do something to me like like
01:02:46
stupid something was with a with a on
01:02:50
the road or something normal you know I
01:02:51
sit there and you know and say okay
01:02:54
maybe that person's wife is in the
01:02:56
hospital he's going to go maybe the Su
01:02:58
just let it go okay
01:03:00
yeah I love that one one certain
01:03:03
incident you know it's kind of funny
01:03:04
this this I think I said in another
01:03:07
podcast this guy I I was in living in
01:03:09
Newcastle and I just finished a
01:03:10
counseling session and the guy was
01:03:12
driving really erratic and I pulled up
01:03:14
to him I said you know I won the winner
01:03:15
and I said I said bro you know that
01:03:17
driving could get you in a lot of
01:03:18
trouble and he goes what the [ __ ] you
01:03:21
started going off and my my first
01:03:23
thought in my mind is I want to get out
01:03:24
of punch this [ __ ] guys Ean what I
01:03:27
you know the next thought was no Mr
01:03:30
you're not you're going to say okay
01:03:31
wonder the one up and just drive on and
01:03:33
that's exactly what I did but you know
01:03:35
the funny thing is he he messaged to my
01:03:37
fan page later on saying oh man I didn't
01:03:40
know it was you I'm read you I apologize
01:03:42
for being so rude yeah a couple of ones
01:03:44
on on your your family so your parents
01:03:47
were they proud of you at the end do you
01:03:50
think I I think my mom probably was my
01:03:53
dad you'll never be proud of uh he was
01:03:56
just he's always a he's a judgmental
01:03:58
person that's you know I've never been
01:04:00
good enough you know i' I've I was
01:04:02
always one to hold uh them back you know
01:04:04
you know when you become when you feel
01:04:06
like a burden to your parents and the
01:04:08
thing I I put it down to is like um how
01:04:11
I could cope with that is that no one
01:04:13
educated them on how to do things with
01:04:15
life when when struggles get hard you
01:04:17
don't just beat your [ __ ] kids up you
01:04:19
know you're going to do something about
01:04:20
it so uh you know you just don't you
01:04:22
know it's um it's probably that so no
01:04:25
one educated ated them about doing
01:04:26
things the way properly and and the L of
01:04:28
Po Polynesians back in those days they
01:04:30
didn't um speak on things like like
01:04:33
molestation all these sort of things
01:04:35
which needs to be spoken on before it to
01:04:37
be fixed yeah like finances and all this
01:04:40
sort of [ __ ] you know yeah um yes so
01:04:45
you ended up being um incarcerated uh
01:04:48
from what I can get there were two
01:04:49
stints there's a stinton wadia and a
01:04:52
little stinton the rock the old Mount
01:04:53
Eden jail so the first one was um when
01:04:56
you um beat up a kid and took his Doc
01:04:59
Martin so what sort of age like 17
01:05:03
18 uh I think yeah I because I went to
01:05:06
back then there was no Youth and adult
01:05:08
jobs it was just you know throw you in
01:05:10
the toilet and that's it um yeah but the
01:05:12
sad thing about the the those guys is
01:05:14
that they knew who we were like we just
01:05:16
we went to the same stool that's how
01:05:18
dumb it is you know I
01:05:21
mean I mean when I sit back and look at
01:05:23
it oh my gosh you were just dumb but you
01:05:25
know I wasn't just dumb I was just I
01:05:27
didn't know you know I had no direction
01:05:30
I had there's a lot of things going on
01:05:31
in my life what I was sad about was I
01:05:34
included my older brother who actually
01:05:36
went to jail also in the mounts um and
01:05:40
and he was studying um to be an engineer
01:05:43
and he actually became an engineer and
01:05:44
that's what's sad for me is like he was
01:05:46
incarcerated because of me you know and
01:05:49
I shouldn't people say he was Inc
01:05:51
because he because he made his own
01:05:52
choice but you know it's we were in a
01:05:54
situation that was quite quite hard um
01:05:57
to try and deal with when we don't have
01:05:59
like nowadays we know about education
01:06:01
about trauma and talking to someone
01:06:02
about it speaking about it to enhancing
01:06:04
and being better person um back then
01:06:06
there was none of that it was just this
01:06:08
guy's running around crazy people didn't
01:06:10
know he had
01:06:12
schizophrenia yeah none yeah I mean none
01:06:16
none of you guys had it like the
01:06:17
upbringing you had this was always going
01:06:20
to be the outcome you know you never
01:06:21
really had a chance so of course you
01:06:23
were going to end up being an Angry
01:06:24
Young Man you're not you're not I'm not
01:06:25
trying to justify your poor Behavior at
01:06:28
that stage in your life but it was like
01:06:29
the it was the the it was the only
01:06:31
outcome there was ever going to be CU
01:06:32
you never had a
01:06:34
chance yeah I I mean like uh that's
01:06:37
exactly right and when I look back at
01:06:38
now I think man I the only saving grace
01:06:41
for me is finding that said that God put
01:06:44
in my life because I started a cycle of
01:06:47
going into in the system of going to
01:06:48
jail at a young age and you know no
01:06:51
nothing to fall back none of this [ __ ] I
01:06:53
was just it would would have been the
01:06:55
next cycle would have been you know they
01:06:56
were already trying to um you know get
01:06:59
me to num up with groups you know the
01:07:01
mob you know doing these sort of things
01:07:03
and that would have been a repetition if
01:07:04
I didn't leave in New Zealand you know
01:07:06
the last thing when I came back um to to
01:07:10
when I came back from from uh from here
01:07:14
to New Zealand um um and I got into a
01:07:18
trouble and I assaulted a police officer
01:07:20
you know I went to court and the court
01:07:22
said the judge says to me if I ever see
01:07:24
you again here I'm going to lock you up
01:07:27
you can be in uh you can be um
01:07:29
Australia's problem and that I should
01:07:32
have laugh and for me when I think about
01:07:34
that I goes man [ __ ] you you were just
01:07:37
starting to be you know you're a piece
01:07:39
of [ __ ] but you're gonna be a real piece
01:07:41
of [ __ ] um and yeah but lucky um I thank
01:07:45
God like I said um I found my purpose in
01:07:47
life I don't actually I find God put my
01:07:50
purpose in my life which was fighting
01:07:52
and um you know I made um a good life
01:07:55
out of for me and my family and and now
01:07:58
um even better to make a lot of other
01:08:00
people's lives a lot of athletes lives
01:08:02
that don't have to deal with um yeah
01:08:04
doping doping Sports people yeah so the
01:08:08
um the the the Stinson jail did did that
01:08:11
make you go [ __ ] this is not the life
01:08:12
for me never again or did you did you
01:08:14
find it quite good in terms of you know
01:08:16
the the having food and structure and
01:08:19
discipline I liked uh I actually like ja
01:08:22
the second time was like a [ __ ] this is
01:08:24
rubbish you know um because it was a
01:08:27
waste both times was a waste of time but
01:08:30
the first time I went to W here I liked
01:08:31
it because you know there was structure
01:08:33
in my life I loved it because there was
01:08:34
food I became a Dairy Farmer and I work
01:08:37
up a three I went and MK the cows um um
01:08:41
I met a a lot of good people in there
01:08:43
they just you know what I learned from
01:08:45
jail is you only get better as as a
01:08:47
criminal when you meet other criminals
01:08:48
in jail it's uh I just I knew there was
01:08:51
a waste of time for me um in that job
01:08:53
being a young man I said this is just
01:08:55
you I love what I've learned here but
01:08:57
but I need to this is just a waste of my
01:09:00
time and oh were you sell mates with t
01:09:03
pora or in the same Wing as tan por no
01:09:05
no no tan por is is someone that I I met
01:09:08
a long time ago in
01:09:10
[Music]
01:09:11
jail
01:09:14
um it was it was for the um the the the
01:09:18
South Oakland rapist thing yeah um and I
01:09:22
I actually I saw him on on TV when I was
01:09:25
doing a camp in New Zealand and I said
01:09:26
[ __ ] that's I know that guy and I said
01:09:28
to my wife at the time GE said I know
01:09:30
there's a guy you know he just got uh he
01:09:33
just got 20 years jail but the the
01:09:35
actual story is he actually done 20
01:09:37
years yeah and then um yep sorry yeah
01:09:42
yeah I mean he he was yeah wrongly
01:09:43
wrongly convicted and it was um yeah
01:09:45
some dodgy police work um the the whole
01:09:48
thing was terrible and he served an
01:09:49
entire life sentence he got um like a a
01:09:53
lot of like like a lot of compensation
01:09:54
like a few million but what price can
01:09:56
you put on the 20 best years of your
01:09:57
life you know what I mean well I did say
01:09:59
to him I was speaking him I said man
01:10:01
that uh you know when when I heard it
01:10:04
was only you know the number it was I'm
01:10:06
like they can't pay you back for 20
01:10:07
years of all your life but what they do
01:10:09
is what they do with law I think is
01:10:11
especially in us what they do is they
01:10:13
they they try to put you in a class of
01:10:16
what you would actually probably earn as
01:10:18
to what your compensation would be so
01:10:20
you'd probably be doing a a factory job
01:10:23
and you'll be earning this so we we
01:10:24
actually think think you'll earn this
01:10:25
much you know for your life but that's
01:10:28
wrong because you know how do you know
01:10:29
what could happen to that person he
01:10:30
could do this he could do this yeah so
01:10:33
you know yeah I mean no no one would
01:10:36
have necessarily predicted that you'd go
01:10:37
on to you know make 5 $500,000 a night F
01:10:40
you know fighting there's no way of
01:10:42
knowing these things you know only only
01:10:45
I know only God knew what was going to
01:10:46
be WR written like I explained to you
01:10:49
you know I never and even though it
01:10:51
hasn't been mandated mandated yet I I
01:10:54
never knew I'd be one of the richest men
01:10:56
in the world from this lawsuit I didn't
01:10:59
think that I from coming from the
01:11:01
poorest kid in the classroom to to about
01:11:04
to be one of the Wiest men of the world
01:11:07
is kind of crazy to me and you know for
01:11:09
me I know that know I know God knows my
01:11:11
heart and so do you know about my
01:11:12
partners that FR we people we're giving
01:11:16
people and um like I you know this is
01:11:18
fun I'm going to tell you something like
01:11:19
a lot of the stuff I've told you is not
01:11:21
even is not you know that people s huh
01:11:24
rich man all they wouldn't even know
01:11:27
like if I said to a lot of if I
01:11:28
explained to you what actually happened
01:11:30
you wouldn't even believe me if I told
01:11:32
you what even happened you wouldn't
01:11:33
believe me so you know but what I'm
01:11:35
telling you is absolutely going to be
01:11:36
you know um before this even is mandated
01:11:40
into law um I've already given I've
01:11:44
already put out uh an endowments 930
01:11:49
million dollar wow an end do you know
01:11:51
what an endowment fund is no what does
01:11:53
that mean can you explain so when they
01:11:56
say to you let your money work harder
01:11:58
for you that's what it's pretty much
01:12:00
like a trust endowment is that so it's a
01:12:04
same thing like what what the bank
01:12:05
doesn't tell you about the their their
01:12:07
banking laws an endowment fund at the
01:12:10
lowest point starts at
01:12:12
$500,000 that's the lowest end fund you
01:12:14
can have and a lot of these people
01:12:16
wouldn't tell you about these kind of
01:12:17
funds because they just don't want
01:12:19
everyone to know because if everyone
01:12:20
knew they'll be doing it but I'm going
01:12:22
to tell you because I want everyone to
01:12:24
know so an endowment fund um say for
01:12:29
instance uh
01:12:32
well say for instance just just make it
01:12:35
up I'm going to be getting um let's just
01:12:38
say uh a million actually let me just
01:12:43
okay so if the lowest one's uh
01:12:45
$500,000 at a 8% interest rate every
01:12:48
year you'll get a certain amount of
01:12:50
money correct for a a million dollars a
01:12:53
year that'd be 80,000 a year in interest
01:12:56
so let's say $40 billion right right a
01:12:59
year it's $3.6 billion US yeah correct
01:13:03
so what an endowment fund does it splits
01:13:06
up at
01:13:07
8% every year $3.6 billion that's what
01:13:11
an endowment fund is if the lowest is
01:13:13
500,000 and you can go and like I said
01:13:16
at $40 billion the the interest rate
01:13:19
each year is 3.6 billion
01:13:22
us so you have to wait for it to to
01:13:25
sitting that uh for a year and I think
01:13:27
every June it splits out the interest on
01:13:29
that fund so as a beneficiary you
01:13:31
received a certain amount of money so
01:13:32
you're receiving 3.6 billion a year for
01:13:35
the rest of your life wow so wrap that
01:13:39
wrap that around your head this is what
01:13:40
rich people don't want you to know so
01:13:43
when you take it out from the fund then
01:13:46
you have to pay tax on that it's like
01:13:47
another source of income like passive
01:13:49
income so you know um so that's um what
01:13:53
we talk we talk of yeah so that's um
01:13:55
that's what endowment fund is so when's
01:13:59
this hang on how do we started talking
01:14:01
about endowment
01:14:03
fund the f I know how the [ __ ] do we get
01:14:06
on talking about an endowment fund I I
01:14:08
don't know there's been all sorts of
01:14:10
threads and conversations in here today
01:14:11
that I wasn't expecting it's been a it's
01:14:13
a chaotic podcast and I'm loving it I'm
01:14:15
here for it um oh what what what but but
01:14:20
I want to know how do we get from that
01:14:21
to talking about an endowment fund
01:14:25
I don't know we were talking about tanap
01:14:26
por and his compensation and then
01:14:29
somehow we got on to
01:14:30
that ah we're talking about money okay
01:14:33
so that's how I talk I started talking
01:14:35
about endowment funds so that's how you
01:14:37
if all you people that are going to
01:14:38
listen to this what I'm trying to tell
01:14:40
you people is if you want to if you
01:14:41
don't want to ever work over again in
01:14:43
your life you put your your um your
01:14:46
money into an endowment fund at a low
01:14:48
interest rate if you can get higher at a
01:14:50
percentage of a percentage here that's
01:14:51
how you can help yourself from never
01:14:53
having to work again so so um so it's
01:14:57
like residual income another income so
01:14:58
yeah yeah the last thing I was expecting
01:15:01
in this podcast today was Financial
01:15:03
advice I know we're talking about money
01:15:05
I
01:15:07
like yeah um all right do what do you
01:15:10
have any viices these days and you know
01:15:11
in your book you talk about you know um
01:15:13
your gambling addiction and um your meth
01:15:16
addiction what are your VI these days
01:15:19
hang on gambling addiction I did have
01:15:22
yeah long ago i' I've stopped doing all
01:15:24
that because I I like I said I I had to
01:15:26
go through all these Lawes I was broke
01:15:28
I'm you know still broke now I'm just
01:15:30
about things are about to change
01:15:32
dramatically um I a meth addiction I did
01:15:35
not have um I smoked and to be honest
01:15:39
with you I don't know why people get
01:15:41
addicted to their stuff when I had that
01:15:43
one New Year's Eve I had it I've done it
01:15:45
three or four times but when I did do
01:15:47
that I was like man it just makes you
01:15:49
feel like you've had 8 hours sleep you
01:15:51
know and I was in South Oakland when I
01:15:53
did that uh on a new Eve night um but I
01:15:58
don't condone that I you know that was
01:16:00
one of my mistakes and that's it it's
01:16:01
meth is like a it's a killer of
01:16:03
communities it's [ __ ] rubbish like
01:16:05
every other drug um and it's not a
01:16:08
positive thing to do not at all
01:16:10
especially for your family your
01:16:12
community and
01:16:13
yourself so yeah what was the story with
01:16:15
myth and your book you bought like
01:16:17
$20,000 worth and had it in in a weekend
01:16:20
well what happened was you know I had a
01:16:22
friend who was dealing I I bought uh to
01:16:25
look up you know I was I don't know what
01:16:27
I was thinking there was no you know I
01:16:28
had no guidance I was like you know I'd
01:16:31
buy $60,000 of of of meth and then I
01:16:33
said can you you know um triple that and
01:16:36
how long he yeah in the end of the day
01:16:38
we ended up just sitting there smoking a
01:16:40
whole lot of meth ourselves which is
01:16:42
kind of dumb you know what I mean like
01:16:45
how are we [ __ ] drug dealers we're
01:16:46
sitting here smoking our own [ __ ] you
01:16:48
know what they say don't get high in
01:16:50
your own
01:16:52
Supply so you know I had no [ __ ] clue
01:16:55
what I was out there I just you know
01:16:57
with my mate like you know he was a you
01:16:59
know a dealer you and I was think there
01:17:01
going [ __ ] you know it's just one of
01:17:03
those stupid ideas and I just you know I
01:17:06
don't know I didn't I'm glad I just it
01:17:08
was just it ended up being the way it
01:17:11
was we just ended up sitting there
01:17:12
smoking a lot of meth and that's it
01:17:13
talking a whole lot of [ __ ] because
01:17:14
that's what it does and then I just
01:17:16
stopped it I said you know one day I
01:17:17
said [ __ ] that's just a dumbest thing
01:17:19
I've done [ __ ] one of the dumbest things
01:17:22
yeah oh you're lucky he and what about
01:17:23
the gambling was it um
01:17:25
like um horses and dogs or just slots or
01:17:30
in Australia there's a you know probably
01:17:32
like now in New Zealand there's Pok
01:17:34
machines like I spend aot like three
01:17:35
days or four days in that casino in New
01:17:38
Zealand gambling like in New Zealand
01:17:40
like Pok machine like in New Zealand you
01:17:42
can only put $20 at a time in in
01:17:44
Australia you can put a $100 a note at a
01:17:46
time so I remember in New Zealand I I
01:17:48
went with $20,000 one day I sat in one
01:17:51
machine spent it all gambling is not a
01:17:54
good for for anything it's like a like
01:17:56
any drug it'll pull down every community
01:17:59
so like I think Sydney is like um man I
01:18:02
think everyone around here puts in
01:18:03
billions of dollars bro it's ridiculous
01:18:06
it's absolutely
01:18:08
ridiculous what would you what would you
01:18:09
me okay so I I stopped that um I um a
01:18:14
long time ago um and I just you know I
01:18:18
found out it was it was uh you know I
01:18:20
said to myself this is rubbish what
01:18:22
you're doing you're lying and and not
01:18:23
only that I was broke so I'm glad it's
01:18:27
been like four years or 5 years or you
01:18:29
know I can go to any sort of place now I
01:18:31
sit there go I'll probably spend a 500
01:18:34
bucks or a thousand and that's it or
01:18:36
even not even do that I sit in the in
01:18:39
the the rooms and not even gamble
01:18:40
anymore so yeah yeah what do you think
01:18:43
it was at that time do you think it was
01:18:44
just an easy come easy go like you're
01:18:46
making good money so you don't mind
01:18:47
spending heaps or what is that it's just
01:18:51
I think uh it's time what you do with
01:18:53
yourself and your time if you you know
01:18:56
and I had time and money you know but um
01:18:59
then all my all I thought like good was
01:19:01
doing was just going there gambling away
01:19:03
money I waste of money and for me I like
01:19:06
I like suit suiting gambles like you
01:19:08
know like there's four chances of
01:19:10
getting the right suit I that's all I
01:19:12
did sat there and got the you know th000
01:19:15
bucks 5,000 gamble gamble you like a
01:19:17
[ __ ] idiot but you know I realized
01:19:20
you know that was an issue and um I'm
01:19:23
glad I I um
01:19:25
stop that you know
01:19:27
um you know like I said now I'm about to
01:19:29
come into a lot of uh become wealthy um
01:19:32
you know I can go do a whole lot of gam
01:19:34
but you know for me I'm like there's
01:19:36
other things like I want to do and will
01:19:37
do you know not um sitting there gaming
01:19:40
away spending hours in a gaming gambling
01:19:42
paror or any Pub because like I said it
01:19:45
went from gaming playing gaming all day
01:19:49
to uh gambling all day yeah and then
01:19:52
when I had to go training it was nah I'm
01:19:54
tired I'm sick
01:19:55
we know where you are Mark shut up you
01:19:59
know you're [ __ ] playing that [ __ ]
01:20:01
again I don't give a [ __ ] get out of
01:20:03
here you
01:20:05
know what what would your what would
01:20:07
your message be hey by the way when can
01:20:08
I just say when you've got your glasses
01:20:09
on you look like reing like 20% less
01:20:12
intimidating no because I you know as
01:20:14
I'm an old man now I I have I have to I
01:20:17
have to wear glasses and I didn't
01:20:19
realize I've been driving around for
01:20:20
years though at night I'm going bro is I
01:20:23
can't even see is that you know I
01:20:25
thought look it's just night night time
01:20:27
and then my M goes bro she goes you know
01:20:30
what Mark come with me I'll go put these
01:20:32
glass put these glasses when I put the
01:20:33
glass I was like holy [ __ ] I can see
01:20:35
everything now cuz I had no problem my
01:20:37
vision bro you know but but it took a
01:20:40
while but you know I I have uh myopia so
01:20:42
in my family we have myopia so that's
01:20:44
shortsightedness so I have to when I
01:20:46
drive I have to put glasses I can see
01:20:48
everything when I'm when I'm looking at
01:20:50
my phone or close I have to I don't have
01:20:52
to have glasses when I look at you I I
01:20:54
don't have glasses yeah you and I are a
01:20:56
similar age I'm I'm I'm on the plus ones
01:20:58
now bought a pair of plus ones from the
01:21:00
supermarket what are your do you know
01:21:01
what yours are do you know they would
01:21:03
have had a little sticker on when you
01:21:04
bought them are they plus one plus two
01:21:07
do you know what they are I don't know I
01:21:09
just I don't know the I just got them
01:21:11
and I knew it made my vision better oh
01:21:13
yeah it's an absolute Game Changer he um
01:21:16
okay what would you for anyone that's um
01:21:19
listening to this or watching this now
01:21:20
that's maybe like currently dealing with
01:21:22
some addiction issues of their own
01:21:24
whether it's like myth or gambling or
01:21:25
whatever like what would your what would
01:21:27
your message be to
01:21:28
them um you you well to be honest it's
01:21:32
probably uh childhood trauma that you
01:21:34
have to deal with go to a counselor um
01:21:37
talk to someone your friends family
01:21:38
whoever about it um it could be so many
01:21:41
different things but uh you know for
01:21:42
myself in my situation it was childhood
01:21:44
trauma and dealing with the situation I
01:21:46
was I had um all these issues so I think
01:21:49
for those people that are watching this
01:21:51
you know seek help speak to someone you
01:21:53
know um don't be like that idiot Stephen
01:21:56
said to and internalize it you know go
01:21:58
seek help because you know um it doesn't
01:22:01
mean you're weak if you go and seek help
01:22:03
because at the end of the day if you
01:22:05
don't go and do that help you're not
01:22:07
going to help everyone else you know
01:22:09
you're going to be a problem to everyone
01:22:11
else and if I didn't um see a counselor
01:22:15
for my issues I'd probably still be you
01:22:17
know going to do gambling [ __ ] I'll be
01:22:20
going to do the wrong [ __ ] thinking um
01:22:22
you know have a jealous mind for
01:22:24
different you know for my partner but
01:22:26
I'm you know I've completely changed the
01:22:28
way I view and do things with with a
01:22:32
partner and different different
01:22:33
situations in life so you know please
01:22:35
seek help if you need help because I
01:22:36
mean if you're trying to internalize it
01:22:39
I mean there's a reason why people go
01:22:41
crazy like my brother Steve did or
01:22:43
there's a reason why my brother John
01:22:44
killed himself because they try to
01:22:46
internalize certain things like this
01:22:48
that you can't deal with that you have
01:22:49
to have help
01:22:50
with well that's
01:22:52
just my opinion oh no
01:22:54
I like that I've um do you know who do
01:22:56
you know who Zack Guilford is former or
01:22:59
black Um Zack Guilford he played for the
01:23:02
old blacks was in the world World Cup
01:23:05
winning team in 2011 but um yeah he
01:23:07
ended up um he had major like gambling
01:23:09
problems and drug issues and um I've had
01:23:11
him on the podcast a couple of times and
01:23:13
he's got a saying from therapy uh which
01:23:15
I really like Secrets make you sick and
01:23:18
um I think it's it's a good one and the
01:23:19
best thing you can do is you get the
01:23:20
stuff out and talk about
01:23:22
it um yeah yeah hey um [ __ ] you've done
01:23:25
a lot of work hey bro I can
01:23:29
tell um well I'm still just a fair ass
01:23:32
right now but I'm actually going to work
01:23:33
on myself when I start you know when I
01:23:36
when I start training again it'll be you
01:23:38
know I'll be a better version of myself
01:23:39
and always always trying to improve
01:23:41
myself which is good so that's a
01:23:43
positive for me and and those around me
01:23:45
in my community because a positive of me
01:23:47
especially the kind of work I'll be
01:23:49
doing to help others is is going to be a
01:23:51
great thing so you know um yeah you'll
01:23:53
see that in the the future as we go
01:23:55
through this as you know when I come
01:23:56
over to NZ and do these things so it be
01:23:58
great yeah um yeah when are you coming
01:24:01
back to NZ it' be great to connect with
01:24:02
you in studio and um and have another
01:24:05
podcast another time in person so yeah
01:24:07
I'm just like I said I've got to go to
01:24:09
Italy the first thing I'll be doing when
01:24:11
this cas's mad is buying me a jet and
01:24:14
then I'll be going to take uh few people
01:24:16
that I'm that I have a few things to do
01:24:18
I've got to go um to Italy um for the
01:24:22
for the bare knuckle fights then I've
01:24:24
going to go to Hawaii and meet my auntie
01:24:26
for the first time um with my other
01:24:28
auntie and then I'm going to stop in
01:24:30
sore to start the process with this Bank
01:24:33
MH and then I'm going to come to New
01:24:35
Zealand and or even might be vice versa
01:24:37
because I have to sort out my sister and
01:24:39
my brother for housing um and their you
01:24:42
know their living situation I what you
01:24:43
know um set their endowments up oh
01:24:45
that's how we got to talking about
01:24:46
endowments so when I come to Z I'll be
01:24:49
setting up the endowments for my sister
01:24:51
and my
01:24:52
brother um and um
01:24:55
yeah from New Zealand so yeah that's it
01:24:57
yeah how how is your sister now is she
01:25:00
all
01:25:00
right well she's a lot better now that
01:25:03
I've told her I'm going to come and sort
01:25:04
her
01:25:05
out yeah oh that's cool um couple of uh
01:25:09
little ones to finish with what what do
01:25:10
you think your best and worst qualities
01:25:13
are my best qualities are um that I'm a
01:25:18
line for those that I represent I can do
01:25:20
anything um for the underdog you know I
01:25:23
hate bull
01:25:25
100% I I'll do anything to to stand up
01:25:27
for whoever it is you know and um my
01:25:30
worst one of my also one of my best
01:25:32
qualities is uh my honesty which is also
01:25:35
probably a double-edged sword is one of
01:25:36
my worst qualities too because you know
01:25:39
as a double edged sword it puts me in
01:25:42
that trouble you know that's um and it's
01:25:44
not not a good thing to actually be as
01:25:46
open and honest as I am like I've being
01:25:48
open and honest with you because that
01:25:50
also puts Me In Harm's Way but for me my
01:25:53
honesty has also been my a quality of my
01:25:56
life that's made me the person I can
01:25:58
speak to without any regrets without
01:26:00
without any sitting here looking over my
01:26:03
shoulder um having to worry about any
01:26:05
others because what I speak to you and
01:26:07
what I say to you is from the truth from
01:26:09
my heart from what my understanding is
01:26:11
from all the cable from all the the
01:26:13
cards out on my table and you can only
01:26:16
make a full judgment on anything that
01:26:18
you look at with all the cards on front
01:26:21
of you you know if all those cards were
01:26:23
in front of you you can't make a proper
01:26:24
judgment or whatever is you're looking
01:26:25
at oh 100% yeah you need to know all the
01:26:28
information um what about what about
01:26:30
regrets any
01:26:32
regrets um well well the only regret I
01:26:36
have is not spending more time with my
01:26:38
kids which I'm about to rectify but you
01:26:41
know in saying that I you know like I
01:26:42
said I've had to battle lawsuits I've
01:26:44
had to go and work and get punched in
01:26:46
the face for a living I've had to do so
01:26:48
many things so I've missed out a lot of
01:26:50
my families my kids uh growing up you
01:26:52
know 100% missed out of Caleb and is
01:26:54
growing up but what I don't want to you
01:26:56
know my youngest is 10 now and my my boy
01:26:59
Noah is 17 so what I'm trying to do now
01:27:01
is is um like I said I just finished the
01:27:04
battle that I need to finish I'm about
01:27:06
to move back to Sydney and um put down
01:27:09
all these endowments like I've just
01:27:10
explained to you and move on with life
01:27:12
so you know um like already I've you
01:27:14
know um I've helped the people that are
01:27:16
close to me whether they've done wrong
01:27:19
to me or not I've I've forgiven them and
01:27:21
said look you might have done wrong with
01:27:22
me here but here let me help out with
01:27:24
your life so you'd have to ever work
01:27:25
again so I've helped all my friends my
01:27:27
family my trainers former trainers um
01:27:31
with life so they didn't have to work
01:27:32
again I've just they've just got to
01:27:34
understand the process of how endowment
01:27:36
works so they don't have to worry about
01:27:38
you know um getting up on a N9 to5 yeah
01:27:42
um so yeah so that's pretty much um so
01:27:46
I've got a lot of philanthropy to do to
01:27:47
do with my partner um you know moving
01:27:50
forward yeah I yeah speaking of your
01:27:53
kids um
01:27:54
I I heard a story that you told on a
01:27:56
podcast about about one of your
01:27:57
daughters um this is after your Paul
01:28:00
gallon fight Paul gallon former League
01:28:02
guy who you had a fight with and uh I
01:28:04
think you were undertrained and you got
01:28:05
beaten one of her friends went up to her
01:28:07
and said uh your dad got beaten by Paul
01:28:08
Gallen and your daughter said something
01:28:10
like well your dad works at a [ __ ]
01:28:12
[Laughter]
01:28:16
Supermarket is that the daughter nothing
01:28:18
wrong is that the daughter you're
01:28:19
picking
01:28:20
up um
01:28:23
yes but the fun the thing is is not it's
01:28:26
not uh that there's nothing wrong with
01:28:28
working a supermarket is that that she
01:28:30
was getting trolled by that girl and and
01:28:32
um you know my girls are strong girls
01:28:35
they're outgoing girls and you know you
01:28:36
say something wrong to them just tell
01:28:38
you how it is and that's basically how
01:28:39
it is she just said exactly
01:28:41
that
01:28:43
like yeah yeah yeah well that sounds
01:28:46
like she's um she's definitely got your
01:28:48
jeans when it comes to
01:28:49
trolling well that that's for damn sure
01:28:52
and like I said even I can't speak to
01:28:53
out of otherwise she puts me in my place
01:28:55
and she's 13 well know my 13 My Girl
01:28:58
Sierra she's like she's taller than me
01:29:00
now she's 13 but um all the girls have
01:29:02
got attitude and they've got the they've
01:29:04
got good traits and they've got bad
01:29:06
traits um the bad traits is they all
01:29:08
argue over [ __ ] nothing like air you
01:29:11
know um
01:29:13
and and the and the good traits is that
01:29:16
I've you know what um Julie and I have
01:29:18
tried to instill the kids is
01:29:20
um is um being confident and being and
01:29:23
knowing you're worthy you know unlike me
01:29:26
gr up as a kid you know I was unwanted
01:29:29
you know yeah and if they if they end up
01:29:31
with a sense of fairness or a sense of
01:29:33
fighting for what's right like uh like
01:29:35
you do then they'll be great kids if if
01:29:37
they were here now like what what sort
01:29:39
of words would they use to describe you
01:29:41
they probably tell me to shut up um to
01:29:44
be honest and uh um you know I don't I'm
01:29:50
I think um you know what I've gathered
01:29:52
from my um my uh girlfriend FL you like
01:29:55
I I know my kids adore me you know I
01:29:58
know um but they don't understand the
01:30:00
full situation of how a life has been
01:30:02
for the last uh five years or 10 years
01:30:05
or or seven years since I finished
01:30:06
working for the UFC or what what what
01:30:09
has happened along the way to to where
01:30:11
we are today but you know um I know 100%
01:30:14
that they know that I've got their back
01:30:16
and so does Mom have their back and you
01:30:19
know we we are doing this for the right
01:30:20
reasons you know we've done this for the
01:30:23
right reasons you I know they had to
01:30:24
come along this on this walker you know
01:30:27
where they they hadn't have a
01:30:29
choice but I know that um with
01:30:32
everything God is got is is the front of
01:30:34
our of of us all of us yeah yeah you're
01:30:38
quite a you've mentioned God a few times
01:30:39
you still quite a religious
01:30:42
man I believe in I believe in God I
01:30:45
don't have to go to church to believe in
01:30:46
God you know I believe I can uh you know
01:30:49
pastor this and for me um I'm not the
01:30:52
I'm far from being perfect but I know
01:30:54
that the Creator there's no way in the
01:30:57
world that this lawsuit would ever ever
01:30:59
have been
01:31:00
won if I didn't if I didn't get on my
01:31:03
knees and ask the almighty God for
01:31:06
assistance and help and I said you know
01:31:08
when I did ask him for for that
01:31:10
assistant and help it came two weeks
01:31:14
later and that's when I told you what
01:31:16
happened how this whole thing turned
01:31:19
around you know so um you know with
01:31:21
everything you know like I said I don't
01:31:22
give a [ __ ] about money you know like I
01:31:24
just told you I'm about to be one of the
01:31:26
West men in the [ __ ] world and I
01:31:28
couldn't give a [ __ ] I already given
01:31:29
away I've already just endowed 930
01:31:32
million and I don't even have
01:31:34
it yet but that's the that's the thing
01:31:37
though I don't even have it yet the
01:31:39
thing is I know it's coming but I've
01:31:42
endowed already the people like you know
01:31:44
I've set up probably 3 400 people that
01:31:46
don't have to work over again and that's
01:31:49
that's the craziest thing now why would
01:31:51
I do that and I do that because I have
01:31:53
faith I know what I know I know what
01:31:55
I've seen I know all the cards on the
01:31:57
table and that's what's happening so you
01:31:59
know the world's like probably a month
01:32:01
behind everything that I'm that I'm
01:32:03
talking about and if you release this
01:32:05
now they're probably go well and but if
01:32:08
you release this after the the judges
01:32:11
mandate this into law the hunt preent
01:32:14
they're going to go wow but I reckon
01:32:16
it'll be a cool thing if you release it
01:32:17
you know early because if if they read
01:32:19
this and watch it what the [ __ ] is he on
01:32:22
about I think this motherfucker's
01:32:24
Bonkers he has got
01:32:28
CTE um and terms you know trust me a
01:32:32
[ __ ] uh like I said the poorest kid
01:32:34
in the classroom a young New Zealander
01:32:38
has changed all contact
01:32:41
Sports you
01:32:44
know you know he's become one of the
01:32:46
West men in the world change all contact
01:32:50
Sports from where from where where did I
01:32:53
come from and that's the second book
01:32:55
it's going to be called The Hun
01:32:58
precedent that's an incredible story oh
01:33:01
and and in terms of like Legacy in the
01:33:03
sport how do you care about Legacy like
01:33:06
how do you want to be remembered in the
01:33:07
sport for what for what your
01:33:08
contribution is I don't give a [ __ ]
01:33:10
about it all they talk about is they
01:33:13
talk about me now your [ __ ] your
01:33:15
[ __ ] this or this shut up I don't
01:33:17
give a [ __ ] what you talking about [ __ ]
01:33:19
Legacy don't like I said I've done all
01:33:21
my what I need to do um [ __ ] kiss
01:33:24
stick your legacy up your ass that's all
01:33:25
I can say [ __ ] I'm not interested you
01:33:28
know what I've done is is proven like I
01:33:31
just explain to you what I've done and
01:33:33
that'll be mandated into law and that'll
01:33:35
see that'll show Theon that is my legacy
01:33:39
right there for you guys and I don't
01:33:40
care how you take it whether the granted
01:33:43
you take it how you want it it's been
01:33:44
done already so you know whether you
01:33:46
like it or not I don't give a [ __ ] s
01:33:48
your stick up your [ __ ] ass it makes
01:33:50
no difference to me I don't care and and
01:33:52
last one proud of yourself
01:33:56
Mark
01:33:58
um I I actually I actually am I'm I
01:34:01
actually I'm proud of the man I've
01:34:04
become not um you know only God could
01:34:07
have done something like this he's used
01:34:09
me as the person to do this use me and
01:34:11
my partner do this I'm glad I've enjoyed
01:34:14
that but um I'm glad the man I've become
01:34:17
through this
01:34:18
process and not only that I'm I'm proud
01:34:21
of the man I'm going to become like with
01:34:23
with the through philanthropy and
01:34:25
helping others like I've just explained
01:34:27
of you know through this philanthropy
01:34:29
you can help so many other people and um
01:34:33
if you're making you know 6.6 billion a
01:34:35
year for doing nothing US Dollars you
01:34:38
know for the rest of your life you can
01:34:40
continue to help others you know and
01:34:43
that's that's that'll be my legacy is is
01:34:46
um is helping others get through life
01:34:48
properly so we've really we've got a lot
01:34:50
of things in the pipelines like we're
01:34:52
about to go to Paris and and help this
01:34:54
Sanctuary for lions and tigers move to a
01:34:56
different country all together so you
01:34:58
know there's a lot of things in the
01:35:00
pipelines um that we're GNA do I was
01:35:03
looking at uh you know a man named David
01:35:06
David lell in New Zealand he's doing a
01:35:07
lot of good things for the community
01:35:09
yeah I did reach out to him a while ago
01:35:11
but I think he we asked him oh actually
01:35:15
we asked him about what how he does his
01:35:19
business and if he can explain to us
01:35:22
what you know how how we can replicate
01:35:25
his business everywhere well what I was
01:35:27
trying to say to that man is what he
01:35:28
didn't do was come back with how he does
01:35:31
things so I I know he got his funding
01:35:33
taken away but like I said you know if
01:35:36
what I was trying to tell him was how
01:35:37
can we replicate his business
01:35:39
globally so instead of starting a new
01:35:42
project there why not help others fund
01:35:44
others that are doing it already yeah so
01:35:46
one of my first things was going to go
01:35:47
and sit down also with that man and and
01:35:50
speak about this um you know the funding
01:35:53
for him so when you put a FL when you
01:35:56
put a in D down for his cause it never
01:35:59
runs out of money because with an endam
01:36:02
it it continues on
01:36:04
forever yes you can just live off the uh
01:36:06
the interest and or or let it compound
01:36:08
and make even more money um yeah go da
01:36:11
Dave latell and um yeah BBM Brown Bean B
01:36:14
Bean motivation he's he does a
01:36:16
phenomenal job in ockland So yeah so
01:36:18
that's exactly yeah why I know about
01:36:21
that because like I said my partner and
01:36:23
know E from down in
01:36:25
um down the South there who ewi when
01:36:28
they got the the the funding from the
01:36:30
the the Great Britain that money they
01:36:33
got was I think ended up being $280
01:36:36
something million dollar or whatever so
01:36:38
they endowed that money and then and and
01:36:41
um it just kept com compounding until
01:36:43
what it pays out now which is in the
01:36:45
billions um to help everybody so that's
01:36:47
pretty much you can actually do an
01:36:49
endowment fund for everybody for
01:36:50
anything
01:36:53
yeah hey this has been a lot of fun
01:36:55
today how's it been for you is it is I
01:36:58
know you've had a you've had a great
01:36:59
life at my expense so you know it's all
01:37:01
good I don't mind that is
01:37:03
great no no no I haven't I mean this
01:37:06
there there's there's parts of your
01:37:08
story that there's just like
01:37:10
there's yeah it couldn't be further from
01:37:12
comedy at all it's just um [ __ ] sad
01:37:15
to be frank but um the way you talk
01:37:17
about some some other aspects of your
01:37:19
life but um you're you're um you're a
01:37:22
very funny speaker
01:37:25
well I'm actually I just speak the truth
01:37:27
yeah you know where however you take it
01:37:29
is however you take it like I said I've
01:37:31
done a few other podcasts that they said
01:37:33
the the the audio is not good um for
01:37:36
whatever reason if you don't like I said
01:37:39
um it'll be it's any day now that the
01:37:42
the the night circuit will mandate the
01:37:44
hunt preach into law and things will
01:37:46
change but um everything I've spoken to
01:37:48
you is is from what I've seen and what I
01:37:50
can see from the table I'm watching so
01:37:53
everything I will do what I've told you
01:37:55
already so you've got a lot of insight
01:37:56
into what has has happened in the past
01:37:59
of my life and what's going to be in the
01:38:00
future of wife and others so yeah yeah
01:38:03
well yeah I hope hope the rest of your
01:38:05
life is um yeah is Happy successful and
01:38:08
rewarding yes sir thank you I appreciate
01:38:11
that yeah yeah I hope um yeah I hope
01:38:13
next time you're back in New Zealand we
01:38:14
get to meet meet in person as well
01:38:15
because I'm I'm a I'm I'm a big fan and
01:38:17
it's been nice to see you on the screen
01:38:18
today uh even even if we went on a road
01:38:21
trip together and I was looking at the
01:38:22
light on the roof of your car for a
01:38:26
bit well yeah sorry but like I said I
01:38:28
had to come and get a parking outside of
01:38:30
school before and they finished early
01:38:32
today so it's a good thing um yeah so
01:38:34
yeah yeah like I said I'll be over in z
01:38:36
um might be before I go to Italy or it
01:38:39
might be at the end of my journey before
01:38:41
I started training for um September Yeah
01:38:44
well yeah I was yeah yeah let's let's
01:38:47
keep in touch because it be it' be good
01:38:48
to do this again um yeah so I sent you a
01:38:50
DM on Instagram saying do you want to do
01:38:52
a podcast you flick me me back your
01:38:53
number and then boom we were on yes sir
01:38:57
I love it all right that's how we work
01:38:59
you know straight up hey Mark AR you're
01:39:01

01:39:02

01:39:04

01:39:08

01:39:10
on your podcast um yeah I hope you enjoy
01:39:13
the show I hope a lot of your viewers
01:39:15
enjoy um what I've been speaking about
01:39:18
and um hope they have learned something
01:39:21
yeah oh 100% all right mate take care eh
01:39:24
all right thanks for your time see you
01:39:25
