00:00:00
David, talk me out of a Rico GR3. I just I literally B&H Were you looking
00:00:05
at my screen? No, I was I was literally opening the B&H page for it. I'm going to not get the HDF one.
00:00:10
Does it cost more for that look? You're insane to pay 100 bucks more. The GR3 HDF.
00:00:15
What does HDF mean? High diffusion filter. High diffusion filter. What does that mean? It just makes it look like a memory. And
00:00:21
it's like it makes it look like you you took the camera went.
00:00:26
That's exactly what it does. And you spent a hundred bucks more for that when you could just
00:00:35
Yo, what is up people of the internet? Welcome back to another episode of the Waveform Podcast. We're your hosts. I'm Marquez.
00:00:40
I'm Andrew. And I'm David. And we're back to our regularly scheduled programming. But I'm only
00:00:46
saying that because this Tuesday, a couple days ago, we went live for our exactly 300th episode live on YouTube.
00:00:54
Anyway, then we published to the feed as well. But if you were there, thanks for hanging out with us. It was uh it was a
00:01:00
good time. We just talked to chat for an hour. It was chaotic, but very fun. We were only 10 minutes late.
00:01:06
Yeah, not bad. Not bad. It was a good time. Also, if you missed it, it probably means you're not subscribed.
00:01:11
Ooh. And don't have the bell on. Yeah. Bing bing. So what's with that? So get subscribed. So the next time we
00:01:17
go live, which we did like have a good time, we might as well do that again at some point. But if we go live again, subscribers will be the first to know
00:01:23
that that is happening. This week though, we've got some more fun stuff. Samsung Trifold. We got to talk about
00:01:28
this interesting rumor. We also have some unboxings to do on this podcast today. Oh,
00:01:34
u we got to talk about G2 because we always have to talk about G2. We always have to. Um but first, some interesting Google
00:01:41
news. Alleged Google news. Anyway, Google confirms it's combining Chrome OS
00:01:48
and Android into a singular platform. Yes, I'm still trying to figure out exactly what that looks like cuz I know what
00:01:54
Android is. Yeah. And I know what Chrome OS is. And so, what device should we want to see both
00:02:01
combined into one on? And why would that be a good thing? Well, glad you asked, Marquez.
00:02:06
Yeah. Uh, I think in Google's perspective, phones and laptops just sort of need to
00:02:12
be one thing. And you can see them doing that right in the Android 16. They're making it so you can plug in your phone
00:02:17
to a display. You can basically use Chrome, like Chrome OS. And on Chromebooks, you've been able to
00:02:23
run Android apps. Exactly. Yeah. And so that makes sense for them because Apple has this like very diverse
00:02:28
ecosystem of devices. They all kind of like mesh well together and they do that. But Google never wanted to make a
00:02:35
Mac competitor uh OS. Even though I wish they would because it would be great. It'd be great. But they don't want to do
00:02:40
that. So I think in their perspective it makes more sense to just like make a phone that can be a computer and make a computer that can be a phone. They have
00:02:47
said for many years that they're like sharing elements of the kernels with each other to make it so they're more
00:02:53
compatible. And over the last couple of years uh we see Google pushing updates to Chrome OS to kind of like let your
00:03:00
messages sync more freely from your phone and let this happen more freely from your phone. Sounds great. It sounds great. But at the end of the
00:03:06
day, Chrome OS is still Chrome OS, right? That's like always the thing. It's like the big asterisk that's like,
00:03:13
"Okay, and yeah, I can run Android apps on this, but it's still it's still not really as powerful as
00:03:20
like a laptop." But now that phones are becoming laptop powered in a lot of
00:03:25
different ways. Uh, I think it makes more sense to just combine them. So, I don't know if they're going to
00:03:30
like rename this or if they're just going to still say it's Chrome OS, but it's like running Android. Effectively
00:03:35
what happened is that Samir Samant, who is a big big guy at Google, he confirmed to Techraar in an interview that uh
00:03:43
they're going to be combining these platforms because he asked the interviewer, "Hey, so why are you using
00:03:49
an iPhone and a MacBook and AirPods? Like what what is it about those things
00:03:54
that you're like you like better that you can't do on our stuff?" And he's like, "Oh, well, I like the ecosystem. I
00:04:01
like that they like work well together. I like it." And he goes, "Yeah, okay. I guess that makes sense." Yeah, that's why we're like merging our platforms and
00:04:07
we're we're turning them to He just like dropped it casually in this interview. Okay. Um,
00:04:12
sick. Yeah. So, I don't know when this is going to happen. Obviously, it could be a multi-year thing that they've been
00:04:17
planning for a very long time. I think everyone kind of anticipated this, but uh on top of this, there's this big
00:04:24
rumor that Google is currently working on a new Pixelbook. There's like a team of people at Google that has been
00:04:30
confirmed are working on a new Pixelbook. So, it would be very cool if this Pixelbook came out and they were
00:04:35
like, "Chrome OS is dead. Android is just now everything, which I
00:04:40
think would make sense for Google." Whoa. Never heard of that before. Wild. Yeah.
00:04:46
Interesting. Okay. Yeah. So, it'd be cool if it was just like Android laptop and Chrome OS is just gone. I'm looking forward to a new interesting
00:04:52
Pixelbook. That would be fun. The Pixelbook Go was very, very good and very like quite affordable.
00:04:59
Very cheap. Very fun. What was the really expensive one? Was that just the book Pixel. The Chromebook Pixel. That's what I'm
00:05:04
thinking. The first one from back in the day. It looked so cool. It looked like a It was fire. I love the
00:05:09
way MacBook, but it was like more squared off and it had the RGB lights on it on the lid. Oh my gosh. It's kind of fire. That's why I want to
00:05:15
see another like good metal. I love that one. The two tone. That's what I was Yeah, the second generation Pixelbook
00:05:21
that was like insanely thin and had the two-tone. That was awesome. I used that for years and like the benefit of Chrome
00:05:27
OS was that it just keeps getting updated constantly. So, it's like, you know, it's kind of limited by the
00:05:32
processor, but I never really felt limited. So, well, the the benefit of changing Chrome
00:05:39
OS to Android OS or whatever we call it is a bunch of children in schools learning how to use Android before they
00:05:46
buy their iPhone and then maybe buy an Android instead. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, if they made it like pair even better with your phone, like
00:05:53
it just naturally had all of your files or something like that. that if there was some sort of like local file sync,
00:05:58
that would be pretty amazing. Isn't that kind of already what Chrome OS does? Like if you log in with your like Gmail account at school, it'll just
00:06:06
have all your Google Drive files. Yeah. I mean, as long as you have literally everything in Google Cloud
00:06:11
services, which is what they want. Yeah. If you're a Google guy. Yeah. Big Google guy.
00:06:16
Big Google. Big Google over here. Yeah. I'm more interested in the Chrome OS part coming to Android
00:06:23
less so that Right. What specific about Chrome OS? Do you want the whole plug in your your phone to a
00:06:29
monitor and then have a computer? Like that's the part that I'm super hyped on. I'm happy for you, Adam. Like I'm happy
00:06:35
for you and I'm happy for all those Dex fans and Android on display fans out there.
00:06:40
I'm just like wondering who has a display that is just sitting around where they're like, "Perfect, time to plug in my phone to a display."
00:06:48
It's I I think a lot of people do. Like a lot of people go to work and just have
00:06:53
like their monitors at work, you know, and then you go home and if even if you don't have like a home computer type of
00:07:00
situation set up, most people have phones. So to not have to buy a whole new
00:07:06
computer just for home and just to have your displays and you go from place to place. I mean, this has been the dream for years that everyone has been trying
00:07:12
forever, but I think this is finally potentially maybe could happen. I feel
00:07:18
like it's like the dream of a modular phone. Like this dream of one computer for everything also gets resurrected and
00:07:26
dies every couple years. With so many people working remote now and with how easy the majority I'm not
00:07:32
saying the job is easy, but how easy the compute is on a lot of jobs like if you're selling insurance or like there's
00:07:38
so many things where you're just on emails and pretty basic like web apps that any phone we have right now could run it
00:07:45
no problem and it'd be super easy. any phone.
00:07:50
Almost any phone. Yeah. I mean, it would be great if, you know, you could take your Pixel Fold and
00:07:55
just be like small screen, big screen. Yeah. And I think right now what's a little weird is that like to have a consistent
00:08:01
experience, you have to kind of plug into a monitor. But like there's wireless decks and if they can get that better and when Google eventually does
00:08:07
this, like if it can work wirelessly, you just don't even take your phone out of your pocket. Like that's the dream. That would be the dream.
00:08:13
So that's my dream at least. Maybe. Sorry. No, you're good. I was just going to say it's it's it's interesting to say I'm
00:08:18
wondering how uh when Google sort of announces this more and if we're going to see stuff at the Pixel event
00:08:25
potentially that's theoretically happening in August. So I was going to say maybe you don't leave
00:08:30
in your pocket, you put it on your new Chi 2.2 charger. Oh sh Wow.
00:08:37
Well played. Well, we're getting Chi 2.2. More horns.
00:08:42
Where's G2? Yeah, Ch2. We did a whole episode about G2 when it first got announced. We did a
00:08:49
little deep dive. We did an interview with one of the people at the wireless power consortium about what it is. If you don't know, uh, basically Apple kind
00:08:57
of like I don't know if donated is the right word because they probably are going to get something out of it, but they worked with the wireless power
00:09:03
consortium to retrofit magnets into the standard. So now Mags Safe, it's not the
00:09:09
exact same array, I don't believe, but it's basically aligning the phone more
00:09:14
directly with the wireless power transfer so that it gets more power through it. Uh, this aligns pretty well
00:09:20
with the rumor that Apple is going to add 45 watt wireless charging to either
00:09:25
the next generation of iPhones or after that with MagSafe. But nowQI is expanding the standard and we have moved
00:09:32
on toqi 2.2. So do you want to talk about what it adds? It basically has 25
00:09:37
watt charging speeds. Nice. Um which is good. That's good. That's awesome. Yeah. Yeah. Because it was only 15 before it was
00:09:42
limited to 15. G2 was 15 watts. Yeah. Yeah. It was great. And I mean we still only had it in that
00:09:48
one HMD Skyline and then the iPhone 16s, not the 16e, had G2 support.
00:09:55
Um and then we got into that whole annoying thing of is it G2 or is it G2
00:10:00
ready, which means it can add the accessories with the magnets. Have they changed anything? Can we still confirm
00:10:07
it's Ch2 means magnets? So, I guess Ch2 support would just mean it can take
00:10:14
the power but doesn't have the magnets. Oh, right. Cuz that's the confusing and I feel like
00:10:19
it's changed. It was regular Ch2 and then they ch ready was the other thing. Chu ready can be
00:10:25
put on a device meaning it will there will be an accessory that gives it the magnets. So CH2 itself requires magnets
00:10:33
to say CH2 at all, but you can brand something as CH2 ready if you sell an accessory that adds the magnets,
00:10:39
which is a lot of them just bundling a magnet case. Yeah. Yeah. Which is decently useful. There's also G2 certified, but like put
00:10:46
it in the phone. Yeah. So what if like if it has CH2 support or like it's certified G2? That's like for chargers and stuff,
00:10:52
right? But does it have to have Oh yeah, maybe you're right. I think that's for chargers. But so the iPhone 16, I guess it has the
00:10:57
magnets so it can do that. There's some So, I asked this question because there's also rumors that the Pixel 10
00:11:03
will have Chu support, but there's no rumors about it necessarily having the magnets. So, would that not be Ch2 ready
00:11:10
or does that just mean it can take up to the new the wireless charger? I think that would be ready and then
00:11:17
Google will probably sell magnet cases. I believe that'd be my unfortunate guess. Yeah. But uh after a very long wait,
00:11:24
there are finally some companies that are putting out GH2 accessories. 2.2 accessories. 2.2 accessories. Even better.
00:11:31
The future is here. Yeah. So, Belcon, Ankor, and UG Green all now have products that are G2
00:11:37
certified for 25 watt G2 charging. Uh I it seems like this is going to be a big
00:11:43
push in the next, you know, couple of months because there's all this news coming out. uh theqi Twitter account,
00:11:49
Chi Power Twitter account just tweeted today as of recording that there is a
00:11:54
lot of news coming in about a week. Uh which to me probably just means that
00:12:00
it's going to be not a lot of news. Just be like recclarifying like what happened
00:12:05
before and saying there are now products on the market that use this. You can actually go buy it. That kind of thing. I just realized so I screenshotted the
00:12:12
tweet from the cheap power. Remember we were just talking about that one billion engagement uh tweet. Look how many views
00:12:18
this tweet has. 38. 38. I just was like, is that a super early screenshot? So I went to the Chief
00:12:24
Power. I went to the Chief Power Twitter and it currently has 58 now. 59 thanks to me.
00:12:30
Are we a niche podcast? Yeah, we are on the bleeding edge, you guys. We're getting this news to you
00:12:37
ASAP. Well, uh yeah, I wanted to ask a question though cuz I was kind of thinking about this before. Mhm.
00:12:42
If you had to guess what what next phone would actually get Ch2 support like
00:12:50
after the HMD Skyline if you had to guess phone like OPPO phone the HMD Skyline 2.
00:12:57
That's actually a really good guess. That's not a guess cuz it's been like a year since I came in. So, I I was kind
00:13:03
of thinking a Chinese folding phone because I feel like we're getting to the point we keep seeing in all these thin folding phones where like the USBC port
00:13:10
almost doesn't fit on the outside anymore. The problem is if you add the magnets that adds a bunch of extra
00:13:15
That's also very true. So, I feel like they would probably do G2 ready, but then you
00:13:21
add a case. Well, I'm saying it because there would be no USBC port. So, then you would have to have a case. Oh, you're saying they're going to get
00:13:26
rid of the USBC port. They want to make thinner. They can't really go any thinner right now with a
00:13:32
USBC port. I don't want something that thin. What if there's going to be like a camera bump and a USBC port bump in the
00:13:38
future phones? That's actually probably going to happen. USBC port bump. A USBC port. The camera bump just goes up to the top
00:13:44
like the like the S21, S22 where it went into the rails with the camera bump and then the USBC port's there and the rest
00:13:51
of the phone is thinner. so thin that it's like this and then right when it gets to the bottom it just gets a little thicker at the bottom
00:13:56
or that's so cameras are top left USB is bottom right so it fixes the rock on the table by
00:14:03
counteracting itself with an opposite bump on the back or hear me out I hate this twoday
00:14:10
battery life who all day and that's the final offer
00:14:17
you'll have all day battery and you'll like it and we dictate what all day means. Yeah. Not on the new iOS beta, though,
00:14:23
because the new iOS beta is trash for battery. Yeah, if you're using a beta, don't get too excited about.
00:14:28
My phone died yesterday for like the first time in 10 years. It was not good. Welcome to Ellis's world.
00:14:34
Yeah. Welcome to Twice every day for Ellis. Wait, wait. Now, I want this to be a recurring segment. So, Ellis, what is
00:14:40
your battery percent right now? And what time of day is it? And what time of day? So, it's still under 70.
00:14:45
I have charged my phone already this morning. Um, I woke up. I think my phone Yeah, my phone probably came off the
00:14:51
charger. I woke up pretty early this morning, so I'm going to say my phone came off the charger at 7:50 a.m. It is currently 11:40 a.m. And I charged my
00:15:00
phone uh for a little bit like while we were getting water and stuff. So, anyone want to take
00:15:05
73 73 68 68 We're guessing um 70.
00:15:11
Is it prices right rules? No, this is just delta. There's also no say you prices righted me last time we
00:15:17
guessed this. I'm going to say 76. 74. 74. 74.
00:15:22
82. Uh, Marquez is literally exact. Oh, no. Sorry, Marquez. It is 69.
00:15:29
So, I like that you gave my phone too much credit. What was What was your guess? 68.
00:15:34
Oh, that's crazy. And we're still out here. You know what was really funny? Yeah. Uh, again, last night, uh, we went to a
00:15:41
taping of the Acquired podcast. We did. Shout out to those guys. And um someone listener from the pod ran into
00:15:48
him there and he was like, "It's so great to finally meet you, man." And then I pull out the my phone to like answer a text or something. He was like,
00:15:55
"There it is." He was like, "I can never That was Parker, right?" Yeah. Yeah. We're going to frame that phone when you're done with it might be.
00:16:02
He said he was like He was like, "You know, what are you going to do with the phone when you get rid of it?" And we were
00:16:07
talking about it. I was like, "Don't get rid of it. This this is the most perfect opportunity in my life for a charity
00:16:13
auction." Like I will never in my life have anything that anyone would actually want like this. And it's not like
00:16:19
Apple's going to give me any money for it. No, dude. So, you know what you need to do? Your estate sale is going to go hard.
00:16:26
When I die. When you die. When I die. Keep it until you die and then I will manage the estate sale.
00:16:32
I something. If my purple 12 minis memory lives beyond mine, I will be I
00:16:39
did something really wrong. But yeah. No. So yeah, I think I think the move is going to be removing the battery and uh
00:16:46
yeah, charity auction and maybe you could have a nonfunctional framed Purple 12 mini.
00:16:51
You should just replace the battery. I have. So I was going to say it doesn't matter. Yeah.
00:16:58
Like my here. Wow. Wow. I've completely Now this is the Ellis's battery podcast.
00:17:03
Let's see what my battery health is at. Yeah. Oh no. Cuz it's high. Really? Uh it was
00:17:09
above 80. I mean, notably, one of the biggest improvements from in the 13 mini
00:17:14
from the 12 mini was that they improved the battery life by like 3 hours. It's 84% health.
00:17:20
That's not very high. That's not good. It's been a while since I got a phone. Not a lot of people's phones are below that.
00:17:26
Yeah, I'm sure there's plenty of people out there, but the comments I just wouldn't call it high. I just
00:17:31
wouldn't call it high. That's not high. Comment your battery health. That's 85%. I mean, I'm not the best
00:17:36
answer because I switch phones a lot, but I've% less. I don't think I've ever gone under 90. What?
00:17:42
90. I got the battery swapped out in this like a year and a half ago. Oh my god.
00:17:47
The thing is also like a lot of charge cycles means Did he stutter? Oh, that's true. A lot of charge I am.
00:17:54
So, I mean, you have a it's a small battery to begin with and then it's a lot of charge cycles. So, it will degrade faster because it's more charge
00:18:00
and it's like it's fully dying and fully charging and fully dying. If you kept it between 20 and 80, it would last.
00:18:05
That would give me like an hour and a half of battery. Did I stutter? 20 to 80.
00:18:10
Actually, that's like why you even care about your battery health when it only lasts a few hours anyway. It's like I
00:18:16
want to make sure it keeps lasting only a few hours. Yeah, that's for sure. Like when you lease an electric car, when you buy an electric
00:18:22
car, you're like, "Oh, I want to only charge to 80 so that I can have it last." When you lease it, you're like, "Go to 100." Like every time.
00:18:30
Yeah. That's funny. All right. Well, um yeah. Anyway, we'll see more about this Chi 2 stuff in a week. So, I guess
00:18:36
maybe next week we'll be able to talk about this. Do you know what number comes after two? This is so good.
00:18:41
25. Is it elite? This is an elite transition. Three. Like the Sony RX1R3.
00:18:47
That was an elite transition. I really I really freaked it up. I'm sorry.
00:18:52
Uh I like yours better. Yes. I thought we were going to trivia. I was like, where?
00:18:58
You know what? Trivia. Yeah. When he said three, I was like Thrivia.
00:19:03
Thia. Um, okay. New point and shoot camera just dropped.
00:19:09
Any questions here? Did you have a hot take on this? You said this is the best, right? No. Who Who's saying this is good?
00:19:15
Nobody. Oh, wait. I thought somebody was saying,
00:19:20
dude, I do not understand the point of this camera. Someone who Andrew pointed out in a DM, I didn't give you enough
00:19:25
credit, but I did enjoy the previous R series. No. So, I kind of messed up. I you like
00:19:31
the RX100's? I didn't I didn't even realize the RX1R 2 because I didn't see the marks on them.
00:19:37
Yeah, the last one from this version was like 9 years ago. Okay. It was 2015. It was 10 years ago.
00:19:43
So, I I've been a notable RX100 lover since like the first gen one and now there's been like seven or eight of them
00:19:49
or something crazy. That's a 1 in sensor that's smaller, but it has you can't take the lens off, but it is a
00:19:55
zoom lens. So, it's a nice little pocket zooming little little camera. This is a
00:20:00
full-frame fixed lens prime. All right, let me give you the ecosystem breakdown. And nobody said the price yet. I just
00:20:06
want to point Yeah, we'll get to that. We'll get to that. We'll get to that. Okay, so you've all heard of the uh Fujifilm X100 series.
00:20:13
Yeah, one of the most legendary point andoot camera series available, right? That's APS-C.
00:20:19
For listeners, APS-C is smaller than fullframe. Okay. Uh then in the other
00:20:25
corner you've got the Leica Q3 which it's a Leica so it's $6,000. That is
00:20:30
fullframe point. These are all point and shoot cameras by the way. Fixed lens point and shoot cameras like a Q3. Then
00:20:35
you've got Fix Prime one focal length. Yes. Sorry. Fixed lens prime cameras.
00:20:41
Yes. I got you, David. Good job. Okay. And then you've got the Fuji GFX100 RF uh which I reviewed a few
00:20:49
months ago format. medium format. Mhm. Okay. So, the ecosystem of this is is
00:20:57
limited right now. Like, especially before the RF came out, your only options, I mean, there were some, but
00:21:04
kind of your only options was was like, do I want to get an X100? There's also Oh, there's also the Rico GR3,
00:21:11
which is very popular as well. So, when you say ecosystem, you mean there's a certain buyer who is specifically looking for a somewhat
00:21:18
compact Yes. full-frame well large sensor mostly fixed lens compact
00:21:26
camera fixed prime lens and then also I would say high megapixel well they're not the
00:21:31
sensor itself is big all of these cameras have above 30 megapixels basically it's the like
00:21:36
no the RX the X1006 does have a 40 megapixel sensor these are all above 30
00:21:42
megapixels yeah yeah yeah so it the idea is like one camera to rule them all right like there's been so like
00:21:48
photography is complicated you don't want have to buy like thousand lenses to just be able to like hot swap. You want
00:21:54
to be able to have one little thing around your shoulder that you can just carry with you everywhere. And generally it's been like, well, you
00:22:00
can get the X100 for, you know, $1,700, which used to be even cheaper. Or you can get the Leica Q3 for $6,000. So,
00:22:08
there just wasn't a lot in the ecosystem. Um, the Rico GR3 came out and that's
00:22:13
sort of like a a cult favorite. Anyway, there wasn't a lot in the full-frame
00:22:19
market. Uh, but 10 years ago, there was the RX1 Mark II and the R there was the
00:22:24
RX1 before that and that was like Sony's entry because every camera company sort of needs sort of an option because the
00:22:33
uh Fuji X100 series was so ridiculously popular that every other company, we
00:22:39
have to make our own version. That's basically what spurred Sony to bring it back. So now they're like,
00:22:45
"Okay, finally we're bringing back after 10 years. The market is here. People finally want this." Um, and so they
00:22:53
added the the So, okay, there's so much context. The context of Sony cameras is
00:22:58
that there's three versions of Sony cameras. There's the S version, which is low megapixel, which gives it way better
00:23:04
lowlight performance, uh, better video specs because they have to push less data through. I like the R.
00:23:10
Yeah, we're getting there. I like the R better. There's the regular one that doesn't have a a letter that is the in
00:23:15
between one and then there's the R which stands for resolution and uh that's the high megapixel
00:23:20
version. Sony's most recent R cameras, the uh A7R5,
00:23:26
yeah, is 61 megapixels. That sensor is 61 megapixels. So, they're pushing that into this full-frame point andoot
00:23:33
camera. So, you're basically getting like A7R5 specs sort of in a compact point and
00:23:39
shoot body because Sony realized they needed to do that. Um, the problem is Manifold. Uh, except that it doesn't
00:23:46
fold. That's one of the problems. Uh, it has no articulating viewfinder,
00:23:52
which is like a big problem. Uh, its OVF is like lower resolution than most other
00:23:57
cameras. Uh, it is 4K at 30 fps only
00:24:02
with video, which is kind of surprising. I'm surprised they're not doing more of that. Uh, the biggest problem is it's $5,100.
00:24:09
W That is the issue. So, okay. Also, no IBIS. Also, no IBIS. Yeah. And and a Yeah. And
00:24:17
a lot of people gave Fuji a lot of crap, including me, uh, for not putting IBIS
00:24:22
in the GFX100 RF. And that's a medium format camera. So, to not put it in a
00:24:27
fullframe camera is like what? It's like what are you doing? Yes, it's more expensive than the Fuji
00:24:34
and like people love Fuji because because of the color science and like you can just spit out these film modes.
00:24:39
This also has film modes but they don't really look that good. They don't really look like film. They're just sort of, you know,
00:24:45
um yeah. So, I don't know what percentage of this is tariffs, like tariff based.
00:24:50
Um and what percentage of it is just Sony thinking like, wow, people really love point shoots right now. We can
00:24:56
totally make a lot of money at this. Yeah. Yeah. So, it's there's a lot of drama. I feel like that's definitely a meeting
00:25:02
that happened. Yeah. They're like, "We need an answer to Fuji success in this vertical. There's not a
00:25:08
lot of competition in this vertical, so we don't have to be price competitive. We can just make up we can just make it $5,000 or whatever, but we just need a
00:25:14
competitor in this vertical for someone to pick the Sony version." And they just made a Sony version 100%. And it's not great, but it exists and
00:25:21
you can pick it if you want, dude. But if you were like, I want a point and shoot and I my budget is $6,000. First
00:25:28
of all, if you said that to yourself, you could probably see a psychiatrist, frankly. Um, but
00:25:34
there are people like that. If you're going to spend $6,000 on a camera, you can get so much camera. You
00:25:42
know what I mean? At that point, it's not like I think people are buying it less about the capability of the camera and more
00:25:49
just about like the feeling of the camera. But that's a light. That is the opposite
00:25:55
of what Sony is. Sony is a a computer with a lens strapped onto it. That's all
00:26:01
it is. And this camera doesn't even do the computer stuff. Well, the what is it? Five shots a second burst mode.
00:26:06
I don't know. I didn't see that one. It's that's what it's like. No, I I feel like this all the Sony like
00:26:14
a series also are just like these are these have crazy specs on them. They're really good cameras.
00:26:19
like really good pictures. But like when you immediately compare this to Fuji, I was like, I had so much fun
00:26:25
taking the X100S out to Wildwood because it's just fun to shoot on and all the film things are fun and it's like
00:26:32
it's an experience where like Sony I just think of it as like, yeah, I want the sickest like high resolution photo
00:26:39
possible. sharpest lenses cuz they own Zeiss, thousand frames a second and like like sports photography shoot at ISO 10
00:26:46
million for no reason. Yeah. It's like the RTX 5090 versus Right.
00:26:53
It's like the scientist versus the artist, right? It's it's very much that. So So it feels like a weird spot to be
00:26:58
jumping. Yeah. And like the a lot of people including me were saying on the RF, the GFX100 RF if you're SP, you know, if
00:27:05
you're it's it's too close to the Leica in price when the Leica the Leica by the
00:27:10
way has IBIS. So there's that. Um it is also 60 megapixels. So it's
00:27:16
like, you know, it's not like the Sony is way higher on the Does the Leica have autofocus? Yeah.
00:27:21
Okay. The Yeah, the Q3. The Q3 is an F1.7 lens, so it's like even faster than the
00:27:26
Sony, which is F2. um 28 millimeter instead of a 35mm. It's just like I
00:27:32
Sony's core competency has always been, as you said, Andrew, like specs,
00:27:37
resolution. There's another product like this. It's so funny where it's like you see the new version as a competitor and it just
00:27:43
makes you want to buy this. Seeing this camera just makes me go, I actually got to like a Q3. Yeah. No, 100%. Like I was telling a
00:27:49
friend yesterday like this camera makes the RF seem like a steal at $4,900
00:27:55
and it makes the Q3 seem reasonable. Um, which is wild. So I don't really
00:28:00
know what Sony was thinking here. The Leica shoots AK30. That's crazy. That's what I was saying. Yeah, man. I'm going to get the Leica
00:28:07
then. This camera doesn't really make a ton of sense to me.
00:28:12
Is there a person Is there really a person out there whose camera budget is that high? and their number one priority
00:28:20
is pocketability. Like that's the only thing this camera has going. Dude, I've hung Okay, I've hung out at the Leica store in New York before.
00:28:26
There are people that walk in and just like, yeah, I don't know. I was like thinking maybe I should have a camera to carry around with me like, "What is that?" And
00:28:33
they're like, "Oh, that's the Q3." And they're like, "Okay, I'll take it." Yeah. And then pay 6,000.
00:28:39
Unfortunately, that person exists in every hobby. And it's really frustrating. People in the hobby that exists in watches, that exists in cars.
00:28:45
People walk into that this Well, we we know someone who does it and watches for sure. Not going to say their name out loud,
00:28:51
but it rhymes with rhymes suckerberg. Oh,
00:28:57
well, Zuck picked up the CT5V Blackwing and probably just walked in the dealership and was like, "People like this one.
00:29:03
I'll take I'll take three." There's also like no culture around Sony. There's there's culture around
00:29:08
like a um there's culture around. There is some enthusiast culture with Sony. I think
00:29:14
it's like the creator culture. I feel it's like creator YouTube. Yeah, but they all hate each other.
00:29:20
All they do is argue on threads. None of them are hanging out. I I as someone who is very skeptical of
00:29:27
Sony cameras and just had my first weekend with one. It they're pretty I love the
00:29:32
with all Dractor. You're using like a 15y old one. No, I'm using a Mark III. An A7. It's pretty old.
00:29:38
It's 2018. We got the that close to when I started working here. That's 20 years ago.
00:29:44
Just kidding. It feels like it. I'm just I'm just I don't know if I should take that compliment. Did you guys know that the year three
00:29:50
was 2022 years ago, man? Wow. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I did,
00:29:56
you know. I just have to find this curious, David, cuz I just found a tweet from 6 years
00:30:01
ago of you saying they should make a Sony RX1 R3, and now you don't seem to like it. That's not wrong, though. This is the
00:30:08
thing. People have been saying this for the last few years, ever since the X100 got so popular, but then they dropped it at $5,100
00:30:15
with articulating. If they were to redo this the Sony way, what I would have expected from an RXR
00:30:22
Mark III, RX1R Mark III, yeah, it would be like, oh, it has a super fast, great autofocus. They went f1.6 just to beat
00:30:28
them. They went like slightly undercutting in price and more megapixels and they they added a bunch of functions that the others didn't have
00:30:33
so they could claim theirs is better% and it seems like they didn't do it the Sony way. that it's not better than literally any other camera.
00:30:40
It's weird. So I that that it's in the in its category. So I just don't understand.
00:30:46
Yeah. I don't know. It's weird. Can't wait for the Sony engineers to hit us up. Welcome to my rant. Um yeah, they will
00:30:52
they will be mad at me. I'm sorry, but I'm also not. So, okay. Um well,
00:30:57
speaking of uh really fast Hold on. Hold on. I just I I got to hop in here real quick because I I'm I just
00:31:04
want to say you guys are right. You know, this is an 8-year-old camera. It's not exactly a new camera, but when you
00:31:10
pull up the side by side specs, it's a good camera. They are identical. Like, which camera? You have an A7S Mark III?
00:31:16
A7 uh A7 R3. It's R Mark. Oh, yeah. Right.
00:31:22
It's like 42 megapixels. Oh, you've been using an A7R3? Yes. Oh, I'm sorry. I totally still cameras
00:31:28
do not improve. Look, they have the same burst rate. They have almost the same sensor the with slightly bigger light
00:31:35
buckets on the three. Uh you do get 20 extra megapixels which is not nothing in the newest one.
00:31:40
Yeah. But other than that like same base ISOs like like it is functionally
00:31:47
oh the buffer size is way bigger on the five. Duh. Yeah. Data but the image engine is the I don't
00:31:52
know. Anyway, let's just you know you you want to transition. You know what you guys don't know? Yeah. Oh,
00:31:59
what if we know it, though? Yeah. What if we This is This is an exciting question. Uh I'm I I sometimes these are really risky
00:32:05
ones because it's really open-ended, but I think we're going to have some fun with this one. And this is we're talking
00:32:11
about Chi 2.2, which any time I hear you guys say that, there's like a famous Fred Estair song from a movie in the
00:32:18
late 20s, early 30s that has a song called Dancing Cheek to Cheek. And so I always just hear dancing chi to cheek.
00:32:25
Wow, that's awesome. I know. The setup was crazy for that one. Yeah.
00:32:30
Can Can we make like a an album where we just remix like old songs as tech songs? Yeah, but they all have to be Kuner
00:32:36
songs. What does that mean? Uh, whatever. Um,
00:32:42
that means you don't want to know the answer. Guys, I would like you guys to name
00:32:48
every company that you can think of. So, there's lots of points up for grabs here. Might take a while.
00:32:54
Period. Name every company. Oh, you like capitalism. Name it.
00:33:01
Every company you can think of that released a product that had chi in it before
00:33:07
Apple. Oh, not including just the whole company. Not the product.
00:33:12
The whole company. You don't have to name the product, but the product that they released did have to be sold in the US. So, I will not get a head start.
00:33:19
So, like for example, I'm just What if it was sold at B&H? Cuz like for example, US Yeah. So, but
00:33:25
like Sony phones are only sold at B&H in the US and Asus phones are also only sold at B&H in the US.
00:33:31
Correct. I will accept those. And I'm just I'm just going to spoil one of the answers here. Like for example, I will
00:33:37
accept HTC because HTC's 2012 phone with Chi was sold in the US. I will not
00:33:43
accept Huawei, Oppo, Xiaomi. Um I just don't want to do that research right
00:33:49
now. And I will have to fact check a lot of your answers. So, I have a pretty comprehensive list up, but I will also have a I will if you if you
00:33:56
want me to fact check them, I'll give you a model name for any of the ones you're not sure about just because I know what I'm talking about.
00:34:01
Can I throw something in there? Sure. You should get a get a point off if it
00:34:07
doesn't have it because I could just right now start listing every company I know. Yeah,
00:34:12
you just got a point. Oh god. Okay. Um and then also
00:34:18
wireless charging is not what I said. I said she Oh, interesting.
00:34:23
So, I forget. Resonance. Resonance. Resistance. You know what I'm talking about? No. No. Res. It's like resonance
00:34:29
but with a Z and no O. It's like it was the thing that predated charging standard. Yeah. That lost.
00:34:35
Um I won't Betamax. Betamax. Yeah, exactly. I won't accept that. Anyway, so start to think um by
00:34:41
the way, even though this is not a product sold, I will accept there are a handful of
00:34:48
businesses which in the US incorporated chi into their hard their physical like
00:34:53
locations like their brick and mortar locations. I will accept those as answers. That's a good epic. I like that. Okay.
00:35:01
All right. Well, the answers will be at the end like usual. We'll write these down and we'll be right back.
00:35:07

00:37:06
There's been this rumor that Samsung is working on a trifold and that it's maybe coming out this year. Do you remember when though? Like
00:37:12
Yes. First Do you remember they put that timeline up about the XR glasses and then just completely skipped over that
00:37:18
there was a trifold in there? Yeah, that's when we first kind of saw during the last Unpacked before this one
00:37:24
that just happened, right? It was the one at the beginning of this year.
00:37:30
So, the the rumors have continued to come out and I think now it's confirmed because TM Row just was talking about
00:37:37
that they're working on a trifold. So, there's some new quotes and he said, "I expect we will be able to launch the trifold phone within this
00:37:43
year." Yeah. So now we're we're full on trying to figure out what to expect, what it is, how it will trifold.
00:37:49
That's actually kind of the biggest question is how will it trifold? Because there's more than one way to do they already showed an animation of how
00:37:55
it trifold. Yeah. Marquez hasn't seen this yet. Oh, you haven't seen it? Okay. So Android Authority found some
00:38:01
animations in 1 UI 8, I think. My elma and um two of them kind of show I have
00:38:09
them up here. We'll put them on the screen and I'll try to describe them for audio listeners. The first one is an animation or uh just a photo from behind
00:38:17
the phone. So say you opened it all open and you would be looking at the back side. The left panel
00:38:23
is technically behind when it's Yeah, it is confusing. So like if you were looking at the fully open screen,
00:38:28
the back part of that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So on the left panel you have the camera bump. On the middle panel you have the
00:38:35
front screen and on the right panel you have a blank no screen at all. A backing of a of one of the sides.
00:38:43
This is like a moi. I just want to see like Yeah. So, what are your thoughts here before we go to the animation that might show it a little better after this?
00:38:49
I'm trying to figure So, this is going to have it's middle out.
00:38:54
Thank you. Cuz the back joke from a few weeks ago. There's no So, the camera is not going to fold onto the front screen. So, it
00:39:00
has to fold the other way. And so, then the other side folds.
00:39:06
That's So, the Huawei The Huawei, remember, did that thing where it sort of outside. It
00:39:12
goes like a Z. It does that. And it's always weird because when you're like opening and closing it, you you almost
00:39:18
break it every time because you can't. This one goes the natural way. So, I believe the idea is because it's
00:39:25
so thin, you're actually the the hinge that the back closes over the middle
00:39:30
part on is like thick enough. Oh, okay. That you can actually just sort of like
00:39:35
double fold them. Okay. The reason we know this is cuz there's another animation that one of them is
00:39:40
specifically a a UI element or like an instruction that the phone will vibrate
00:39:46
and send an alert if So when the phone is open, both the outsides fold into the
00:39:51
middle, which obviously means it has to be kind of offset in order to do that. So if you fold the camera on the right side in
00:39:58
first, the camera would be facing the screen that's going to fold on top of it. Yeah. Don't do that. You might break it. So an
00:40:04
alert's going to pop up. I hope all you audio listeners can visualize this in your head. I was going to say not too hard.
00:40:09
Visualizing things in 3D space is the reason it failed organic chemistry. I think this is easier than when we were trying to describe the
00:40:15
Huawei one because this is just imagine uh opening like a a menu,
00:40:21
right? Like you open it, you're holding the two sides and there's one flat piece in front of you. Or if you ever did the
00:40:26
science fair as a kid, I know some of you guys are like me. And you had the tri board or whatever. Trifold
00:40:31
and the middle was like you had the middle and then each side folded in front and so you'd fold them both the
00:40:37
same way. Yeah, I guess that's cool. If it works, they'll fold on top of each other. Yeah. So if you look if you scroll down a
00:40:43
little bit, there's one more um in the animation of uh 1 UI8. Look really
00:40:48
closely at the hinges at the bottom of this picture. One is larger than the other one.
00:40:54
Yeah. So the left side will fold in first and then the right side which at this point has the camera bump on the
00:40:59
back folds on top of that and that back of the left side is a blank face. This is good good detective work I
00:41:07
wonder. So is the fact that this is more intuitive going to matter to regular people when
00:41:13
they go to like look at it in a store cuz if you have a phone sitting in front of you I mean because I'm thinking about like
00:41:18
how are they going to sell this? It's going to be very expensive. It's going to be maybe in some stores, but it's a Samsung phone, so Samsung's going to try
00:41:24
to move these. Is the fact that these move in a maybe slightly more intuitive way a big part
00:41:31
of why they did it like this? Yes. Uh yeah, I think that like to get
00:41:36
regular people to not break them. Yes. The intuitiveness of people who buy the full like the old lady at at the
00:41:42
airport, right? You know, not able to use her S Pen anymore. Yeah. She she's it's going to be nicer
00:41:49
for her because she could probably not use the Huawei one. She would probably break that pretty quickly. The Huawei one is confusing. This I'm
00:41:56
wondering, you know, we saw all the thinness of the latest Fold 7. It would make sense of being able to make one
00:42:02
hinge slightly bigger. We also know that a lot of these folding screens when the hinges close, they kind of give
00:42:07
themselves some room to uh curve a little more space. Yeah. So it's not folding quite at like
00:42:14
creasing on top of each other. So, this gives it more room actually to fold inside of it. I would also not be surprised if they
00:42:19
use the same like sort of micro teardrop technology that Motorola used in the RA
00:42:25
Razer where the screen sort of like teardropped inside the hand and like shifts almost. Yeah. Yeah.
00:42:30
Um the thing about it is though, I don't care how many warning signs you have about this, someone is going to fold
00:42:36
this the wrong way. Right side in first. If I think of a menu, I almost always
00:42:42
think about having the top part fold out left first, then to the right, which this is actually not that.
00:42:47
I mean, it would be nice there. Okay, this is insanely pure speculation. Almost all of this is.
00:42:53
Yes, it would be cool if there was some sort of mechanism um mechanical mechanism where you have to have folded
00:43:00
the fir the left half first in order for the right to even budge. There was some sort of little micro lock system in
00:43:06
there. That would be cool. I wonder if you you could though set this up on a table like Marquez was saying like a science fair
00:43:12
poster and have like your whole thing sitting dude 100 and Chrome and Android are
00:43:18
merging. Yeah, the future is it's happening. It's happening.
00:43:23
I got a breaking news for you guys. This just got just just hit my inbox. Oh no.
00:43:28
Uh new Google Pixel event August 20th.
00:43:35
August 20th. It's happening. Put it on my calendar. Is it in New York? Uh, let's see. My event says Brooklyn.
00:43:43
Yeah. Let's go. Oh, I just got the email, too. Are we allowed to say this on the podcast? Oh, no, I didn't. Sorry. That was Megan Fox.
00:43:49
Megan Fox emailed me again. She's emailing you about the Pixel 10. What the hell, Google? Where's my email? I just dropped.
00:43:55
Yeah, I actually didn't get an email. Dropping a little tweet real quick just to the podcast. So, I'm guessing we're
00:44:00
getting the 10ens and then maybe Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro Fold,
00:44:06
Pixel 10 Trifold, Pixel 10 Trifold, Pixel Chromebook, Pixel 10 Laptop, Chromebook Pro,
00:44:12
yeah, ultra. Oh, there are new, this is not even a joke, there are new PixelBud Pros coming
00:44:18
out that are apparently quite expensive. You know what's crazy? Interesting. I land
00:44:23
back from China the day before this. Oh my. That was the first thing I looked at when you said that date.
00:44:28
You're going to be jetlagged. I'm ready. I'm going to just jump right back in. Just stay in my Just stay in my cellar with me. I've got space.
00:44:34
This is a good time to say that there will be multiple weeks in August where Marquez is out.
00:44:40
Oh yeah. Is this a good time? This is probably a good time. So we're getting a divorce. Yeah.
00:44:45
I might have Do we mention this a couple months ago that I'm I'm playing on the
00:44:50
Team USA World Games team? I think we've said that before. M uh that has involved several training camps and several practice weekends
00:44:56
leading up to now. But the the tournament itself, the world championships is in Changdu, China and
00:45:01
it's two weeks long and it is in August and I will miss two
00:45:08
rounds of trivia questions. Maybe three. Yeah, maybe three. But definitely two podcast episodes. So, uh I'll be coming
00:45:15
back right as the Pixel event happens. Sick. Perfect. But yeah, that's just
00:45:20
your preforarning. I think that doesn't mean the episodes will be any less bangers. That just means I will have to
00:45:26
be sent trivia questions somehow so I can make sure I get my answers with the time difference and everything. I was kind of thinking if like we hit
00:45:32
you up for like a five minute recap of how the day went like oh we lost this
00:45:37
game, we won this game like your little report. Maybe fun. It's definitely going to be a
00:45:42
lot of work and 12 hour time zone difference is a challenge but we we may overcome it. It may be fun. What if we
00:45:49
just brought you in remote live for the whole thing? Stay up until we have to pick a crazy hour for you
00:45:54
guys. It would have to be crazy for you. Why does it have to be crazy for us? Like if it's a normal hour for me, who are we?
00:46:00
It's a crazy hour for you. Wow. You care about your team more than us. It's definitely going to be tough to be up for both hours.
00:46:05
This team, come on. What if I just don't sleep?
00:46:11
No, you should sleep. You should sleep. I don't want you to even joke about that. Have you ever been to China before?
00:46:16
I have not. Is it your first time? Yeah. Oh, that's cool. Nice. Yeah. Nice. I will say uh at least it usually takes
00:46:22
two days for the jet lag to hit. So, it took me two days for Japan, so I think it's going to take me at least two
00:46:28
days for for China. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You know, there's apps where you can like change and shift your sleep
00:46:34
schedule until you That starts to that starts to mess up my schedule here. Yeah. But only for like a couple days.
00:46:39
I just need to sleep on the flight basically. Okay. You can do that. Yeah.
00:46:45
Yeah. for like way more than a normal sleep. We'll just give you a a lot of sleeping
00:46:50
pills. I'll figure out I'll figure out a way to sleep on the flight. Okay. I have price guesses.
00:46:56
2500 25 or 27 probably for the trifold for the try. 27.99 wouldn't surprise me.
00:47:02
They just made the biffold 2,000 to start. Oh yeah. Yeah. 27,000
00:47:10
dude. That would be crazy. Yeah, it's going to be three grand. That would be crazy. It's definitely
00:47:15
$27.99. How much is a one terabyte folder? Wait, how much is the the excess the
00:47:23
mate XS mate? That's like That's get it here. So I don't know
00:47:29
of like 3,000. Yeah. At this very moment, a 1 TBTE ZFold 7 is $2,420.
00:47:35
It's going to be 3K or 27.99. Um, but imagine just imagine just imagine for a
00:47:43
sec. Dragons. If where
00:47:48
if you had one of those little foldable keyboards and then you also had a little stand and you would just have a laptop
00:47:55
with you all the time. Yeah. I don't know. So cool. This is happening and it runs Chrome OS. It is going to be
00:48:02
funny because they're going to have to just This is the first maybe not the first, but this is going to be interesting seeing Samsung have to
00:48:07
justify the trifold over the dual fold, which means they're going to have to show examples of things that you want the trifold for that they wouldn't have
00:48:14
already shown us for the dual fold using it as a laptop like Dex like
00:48:20
like I don't see the value in the bfold really at all, especially if this exists. Well, only being cheaper. I mean, if you
00:48:26
want an eight inch screen in your pocket, this, you know, fold ZFold 7 is going to be that. If you want, what is
00:48:32
this? This will be like a 10inch 10 inch diagonal tablet in your pocket or something like that. That's my bad.
00:48:37
Then this is that, which is what everyone wants. If someone's spending $2,000 for the regular fold,
00:48:43
they're going to get they're going to get the three. They're going to spend an extra spend extra. If you're Samsung, that's why it makes sense to come out with this and and test
00:48:50
those markets and figure out if that's true or not and see how many people convert. That's true for me. But yeah, it's it's
00:48:55
not gonna be cheap. That's over for my Blueb Bubble homies. The name got rumor leaked. I like Oh yeah, we skipped past that part.
00:49:02
Did you see? Yeah, the G the Samsung G. Galaxy G is what I called G.
00:49:08
I think Samsung has the potential to do something hilarious here because Samsung
00:49:14
translates in Korean to three stars. And one of the most hilariously named
00:49:20
cars in the world is the Ferrari la Ferrari. The Ferrari the Ferrari. So Samsung could potentially call this
00:49:28
the Samsung the Samsung. And it would pay homage to the both the three stars of the company's named and the three
00:49:34
guys. This was the joke I said I was going to tell. I said you guys have to laugh.
00:49:40
That's really good. Ironically, uh, this should be the Zfold because it actually
00:49:47
is a Z. So much funnier than what I just said. That is so true. They should have called the other one the Cfold or something. Or like the V
00:49:54
the Vold. They could have called the Vfold. V. Damn, it's too late now.
00:50:00
But then, yeah, it's not really a V though cuz it's No, no, the current fold. The current
00:50:06
fold, which would be the Vfold. And this literally could be the Z. The U or the U fold.
00:50:11
No, you're right. Oh, yeah. These Yeah, the Huawei I keep forgetting. Mate XS.
00:50:18
XS is the trifold. That That does make a Z. I thought they always did it because
00:50:23
the two folds next to each other made the Z. But they called it that before they did the flip. They named it that because you have an
00:50:29
excess of screens. But it's a Z. Yeah, I know. No, I'm talking about the Huawei.
00:50:35
The Huawei. Oh, all right. We're off the rails. Yeah. Anyway, well, it was just enough time for Adam to get the thing we forgot. So,
00:50:41
really funny joke, Ellis. Now, as we move on to Adam's,
00:50:47
you could say that joke was classic. Hey,
00:50:52
we would say that because it's a good transition to the unboxing that Adam's about to do. Adam, what are you holding
00:50:58
right now? The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. Is that right? This is This is it.
00:51:03
Are you a potential candidate to buy a watch like this? Um, probably not because I no longer have a Samsung
00:51:09
phone, but for now I'm excited to Yeah, for now I'm excited to to see what it is like
00:51:15
how it looks and feels. Sure. Here we go. Here we go. Why? Why you do this? I'm just going to
00:51:21
Well, I don't think the audio listeners want to listen to that. Someone on our podcast or on our
00:51:27
subreddit posted the spec comparison between the Watch 7 and the Watch, just
00:51:32
the regular ones. It is exactly the same minus a like 0.2 gram difference and
00:51:39
obviously the like cushion design. It's very funny. But you can buy a watch
00:51:44
7 right now for 150 bucks on Amazon. Wow. That's a crazy deal. Especially because
00:51:49
it's the exact same spec. And how much is the Watch 8? The Watch 8 is what?
00:51:56
450 or something. It's the same chip. It It is. You're just paying for a new design
00:52:02
pretty much. And the new W OS, but I'm assuming that'll get that'll come to the other one.
00:52:08
Yeah. Wow, that's incredible. Wait, does this does this will the old one get the run coach thing? The AI run coach?
00:52:15
I have no idea. Anyone wants that? Samsung always likes to announce something and then two weeks later it's available. Oh, it is brighter by a,000 nits.
00:52:20
Oh, that's nice. A,000. Is that 3,000? Right. It's 3,000 nits versus 2,000.
00:52:27
Yeah. Yeah. I'm not sure if that's worth uh 300 bucks, but you know, it is nice. Uh the watch itself, though,
00:52:34
I I like the way it looks. I do not like the way it feels. Oh, really? The bezel is a birectional bezel, so it
00:52:41
spins in both directions. Typically, on a dive watch, you don't want that because you're timing how long you are
00:52:46
underwater and you can like undo the elapsed time and then you'll drown. So, you want it to only go in one direction
00:52:52
and the software won't let you do that. Probably Well, no. In old dive watches, there's no software. It's like a
00:52:58
physical mechanism, right? Yeah. So, this birectional bezel Oh, yeah. The software here
00:53:03
software should probably not go backwards. It's just the the clicks and the way that it feels
00:53:08
that I can see moving in both directions. It's not as like sturdy because in real dive
00:53:13
watches, it like clicks into place basically because you don't want that moving. This is very easy to move. Um,
00:53:19
I'm assuming because it controls aspects of the Yeah, but I can easily see myself like just moving my wrist and accidentally
00:53:25
spinning the dial a little spinning the bezel. It feels like the the actual case of the
00:53:30
watch feels like nice metal and then the spinning crown feels like the cheapest plastic
00:53:36
almost so much worse when you have two materials next to each other. It can make one a bad material feel 10 times
00:53:42
worse because you feel what it like could be like. It might just be that it's so light. Like it's just really thinly machine
00:53:47
metal, but touching it feels like painted plastic. Yeah.
00:53:52
Does it look good still? I have to say I think this is one of the nicest looking smart watches right now.
00:53:58
I look great emaciated frankly. And uh so big watches
00:54:04
like this look pretty silly on me most of the time. I'd consider myself to have pretty thin wrists. And this is a pretty
00:54:11
big watch. I don't think it looks that bad. Do you think it looks bad? No. But like, you know, you you may have
00:54:18
a thin wrist, but like if I turn my wrist sideways, you won't be able to see it. You know what I mean?
00:54:23
Like like when I'm in when I'm in the shower, I have to move my wrist around just to make sure it gets wet.
00:54:30
I got more. So, not for you. Damn. I was kind of hoping Adam would like this a little better for this segment here. I cannot
00:54:35
even get this strap in. I do like I really like the way it looks. That's the thing.
00:54:40
So, Michael Fischer posted pictures of this and it looks looks really good. So, the purpose of a cushion like kind
00:54:47
of case like this is for it to not look so massive on wrist like it wears. That does look pretty big.
00:54:52
It looks pretty big. Yeah, it's a 46 mm watch. Yeah, 46 is huge.
00:54:57
Okay. So, that does it is doing the job of making it look smaller. 46 is ginormous.
00:55:03
Yeah. Yeah. big screen on your wrist. Yeah. I just want to see if there's a It's
00:55:08
only 46 million. That's like entourage sized watch. You know what I mean? Like it's Escalade. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
00:55:16
That's a good reference. Yeah. So, the buttons are nice, though. I like the buttons. Correct me if I'm wrong. The Watch 7 did
00:55:22
not have the rotating bezel. It did not. It did not. So, if you want the Watch 8, you'll be getting the rotating bezel. You'd be
00:55:27
getting a 3000 Classic specific. Yeah. The Watch 8 Classic. 30,000 nits over 2,000 nits. double the storage,
00:55:34
slightly larger battery, the little antioxidant index that it now does, which I did a demo of, which is,
00:55:40
you know, you might want that, maybe not. No. So, when was the last classic when was the last rotating bezel Galaxy watch? I
00:55:47
thought it wasn't that long ago, but this kind of favorite feature and it didn't look as much like like
00:55:53
this tries to look like the dive bezel on a normal watch. The old one was a little more almost just like protective
00:56:00
and part of it and did spin and was nice, but this makes it look like a a watch watch. Um, it's kind of a bummer
00:56:07
to hear that it's I mean aesthetically I really like the way it looks. These are my kind of watches. Like I like big bulky dive
00:56:13
watches like that. Like I have a DXA, the Seikko Turtle like I mentioned a couple weeks ago. This looks very similar to that.
00:56:19
It's like that is the the chunkiness is part of the allure of something like this. Makes the Apple Watch Ultra look kind of
00:56:24
sleek to be honest. Yeah. No, this is definitely more in line with like classic 60s style of watch. Uh Marquez,
00:56:32
did they mention anything about what makes this one specifically better than the regular eight? Like
00:56:38
that one? I couldn't tell you, but I could look it up. It would make them more money if you bought it. I mean, is there I mean, I think it it
00:56:45
literally might just be the the rotating bezel and the the design.
00:56:50
Can you pass it over here? Can we get a quick Definitely going to pass it here. Throw it. Throw it. do it.
00:56:56
Yeah, good job. Uh, Adams, for audio listeners, Adam's throw was just awful. The watch went
00:57:01
through one of our windows and is now incurring several lawsuits.
00:57:07
Allegedly, Marquez is looking at it. He's comparing it to the Apple Watch full. I mean, a circular display has always
00:57:12
been nice. Yeah, except except the UI is like pillshaped.
00:57:17
Sounds Yeah. So, there's a bunch of pills that go inside a circle and it's like, what are we doing here, folks? It's not the best move.
00:57:23
Not the best move. That sounds I want to hear it.
00:57:28
That's the bezel. Sounds good. And the watch is off. So that is like a hardware Yeah.
00:57:34
click from the bezel. Yes. Oh, wait. But the numbers don't move with the dial. Aren't they supposed to?
00:57:39
No. So the way I know nothing about watches. The way that the dive bezel works is typically if you have hands, right, and
00:57:45
you'll have a minute hand pointing to like it's 10 10. So you move the bezel so that the arrow aligns with the
00:57:52
minutes. And then as the minute hand moves, you can tell how long it's been.
00:57:57
It's just elapse time basically. Yeah, but this bezel has no markers on it. No, you would have to basically move it
00:58:04
to the zero. I like the feeling of I don't think that feels that bad. Bezel,
00:58:09
I don't think the bezel feels that bad. I'll bring in my watch tomorrow. Well, I'm not saying it's going to feel better than that, but I don't think it
00:58:14
feels that bad for what it is. I think if you're going to do a hardware bezel, make it feel like a nice hardware
00:58:19
bezel. It's literally the one part of the watch that people are going to touch. Yeah. So, why would you make it feel like it
00:58:26
came out of an ice cream truck? Cracker Jackbox. I mean, am I wrong? Anyway, speaking of
00:58:33
me being wrong. Oh,
00:58:40
trivia, dudes. So, question number two. The Google CR48 was a developer version
00:58:48
of what? Google hardware. Yeah, I have one. The CR48. I reviewed the CR48 actually.
00:58:54
Did you know? Yeah, I sure did. Interesting. I missed that thing. I might I might have kept my CR48. I think that's one of
00:59:01
the few old things that I kept. Interesting. Like the truly no logoed laptop. Just
00:59:08
matte black plast. Did you not Did you not just say what it is? Whoops.
00:59:13
All right. What? Um, trivia, dude.
00:59:20
Wow, that was Guys, that was awful. We're here talking about a Samsung
00:59:25
watch. Mhm. We're here talking about a Samsung watch like it's new. Okay. But actually, in
00:59:32
the past, at some point in history, Samsung bought a German camera company called Role. I think it's you say R O L
00:59:39
L E I, right? Role is a camera. Oh, yeah. That is what Samsung owns Role. They might not anymore, but at some
00:59:45
point they did. I I'll double check that. Okay. But they used Role's mechanical
00:59:50
expertise to make a line of watches. What decade did these Samsung nonsmart
00:59:58
watches come out in? Oh, that's cool. Now I want one. Retro. Yeah, me too.
01:00:04
But I'm not going to look it up. Also, I feel like the SEO is probably really hard on that with all the Samsung watches. These are
01:00:09
just look up Samsung Role Ale watch now. But don't but but don't do that.
01:00:15
The gist is Samsung wanted to and I'm going to fact check this over the next like just to make sure because this is something I put together really fast.
01:00:20
But Samsung bought Role um wanted to pivot them into making like they bought
01:00:26
Role specifically to turn them into a watch company. Then they tried to start selling these watches in Europe and Rolex was like are
01:00:34
you kidding me? You think I'm going to let you do this? Yeah. And after several years of court
01:00:39
battles, Samsung was just like, "Oh, we're done with this. Is stupid." Wow. When did they sell it back?
01:00:45
Nice try. 90. You motherucker. That was the whole question.
01:00:53
[Music] Trivia.
01:00:59
[Music] We're You got to put some cut of everything that just happened in the video. All right, guys. Because this is
01:01:05
now the third Samsung question I've had to come up with today. This one's going to be a weird one. In 1995,
01:01:11
what major hiphop apparel brand did Samsung acquire a stake in?
01:01:18
BTS in 1995 hip-hop apparel.
01:01:24
Okay. Hip-hop apparel. I don't even know. Hip-hop. Yeah, it's kind of hard to think of a '90s hip-hop apparel brand. There's
01:01:30
literally one. There's only one that existed and you either know it or you don't. I don't.
01:01:35
Okay, that is that is encouraging. I'm not mad at you, but I am a little mad
01:01:40
at me. No, everyone. Okay. Yeah, fair. All right, we'll think about it. Answers at the end like usual. We'll be right
01:01:46
back. [Music]

series. All right, welcome back. Speaking of
01:06:02
sweet apparel, I don't know if segways work after an ad break, but here we are. Um, we have the Meta Oakley glasses. And
01:06:10
so Marquez and I looked at these already. We got a kind of silly color. Is it orange?
01:06:16
We tried to get the orange ones, but those were limited edition. Is it polarizing?
01:06:22
They could They might be a little polarizing. You're right. But um I'm going to let David open them for the
01:06:28
first time. So, we all know the meta ray bands. This is exactly the color I asked for. I also want to say something funny.
01:06:33
Okay. When I was when I worked at Intel, this better be funny. Uh part of the time I was at Intel, I
01:06:40
was All right, David, make us laugh.
01:06:45
I was a marketing Make us laugh, David. I was the marketing manager for part of the time I was at Intel and I uh I led
01:06:51
the like part of the Intel Atom. No, sorry, not Atom. It was Cury. I wasn't there.
01:06:59
Intel Cury used to be like a a wearables chipset that they made. Um, and effect
01:07:05
and anyway I was like leading this like marketing thing to get Cury integrated
01:07:10
into other products. So we made like smart basketball shoes with um I think
01:07:15
it was Lenovo and Yaoing.
01:07:21
Yep. What? But we also Wait, why was that so funny? Oh no, that was Oh, cuz they said it was
01:07:27
Say something funny. Yeah, right. Right. That is pretty funny, actually. Yeah, it's pretty funny. We made smart Hold on. Yeah,
01:07:33
let's unpack that. Yeah. So, Ya smart basketball shoes. Smart basketball shoes. Yoing. Cury ship. Okay. Interesting.
01:07:39
Cury. We also worked with Oakley to make the like the first pair of smart glasses.
01:07:45
So, it was very funny. Yeah. Um, wait. Is that funny like haha or funny like these are like
01:07:51
funny because Intel is going to be gone in a couple years? That's actually true. That's just a true
01:07:57
statement. All right. I'm finally gonna open these up. All right. Just like how I helped to make um the Bixby by training that data
01:08:04
set. I just kill a lot of things. All right, it's time. Okay, they're beige.
01:08:11
They're like everyone has a different Actually, you called them beige. I think I called them like bone. Bone.
01:08:17
Do you guys like this case better than the regular get them out? Yeah, this is like a different what you
01:08:22
It looked like you pressed the button and the whole thing kind of fell because the charging contacts are at the bridge of the nose. So it sits down into
01:08:29
a piece that almost locks it into that inside of the case. Mhm. What in the snap spectacles are those?
01:08:35
That was just These look exactly like the snap. Those aren't oaks. Those have nothing to do with Oakleys. You don't see the O on the side, bro.
01:08:41
Oh, I just realized the microphone is inside the O. Why would they make them look like that?
01:08:46
Hey, Meta. Oh, no. I don't know if they're on. They're probably not. You literally just got them before.
01:08:52
So, for for anyone c for audio listeners, I'm going to attempt to describe these. They're just awful.
01:08:58
I actually think David looks kind of cool in those. They look like sort of like God, they
01:09:03
look like if if Oakley tried to make the circle Ray-B bands be like from the future
01:09:11
being like Ready Player One. No, I No, these are like if if you tried
01:09:16
to make the 2012 equivalent of John Lennin sunglasses but with thick white
01:09:22
frames and then also they're not completely circular because the nose bridge makes them this this weird like
01:09:28
flat side. The thing that makes them ugly is that they're circular except for the inner nose area where they just for some
01:09:34
reason are straight. Um, and I don't know why I hate that. I kind of like
01:09:40
them. Am I allowed to say on the podcast? Because yeah, the the the lenses the
01:09:45
reflective lenses are the color of it's like you're looking at the world through I would like to get out. The thing is, I
01:09:51
can see myself in the sub monitor and I would not go outside wearing these. Can I try them on? Yeah. I want to see what they look like
01:09:57
on other people. I feel like we also picked one of the sillier colors.
01:10:03
No, I feel like a lot there's ones that are like just black on black. Um, and those look a little less
01:10:09
I can see black on black looking a little Oakley's whole thing is like they do some pretty wild colors, especially with lenses. This is definitely one of them.
01:10:16
Marquez looks cool. I hate how good Marquez looks and everything. They look a little silly but not horrible.
01:10:22
Marquez, look at me. Oh, wait. They are on. Take a picture of you. Did you?
01:10:27
And another one. Yo, the envelope on that LED is nice. The way it just sort of fades back when you're done. I like that.
01:10:33
That's the same. They don't look that bad. Yeah, they do. I am. Sorry, Marcus. I am not a fan of the t the tint. I
01:10:40
guess you'd get used to it after a while cuz glasses are different types of tint. So, it makes my MacBook Pro screen look
01:10:45
green, unfortunately. But um yeah, big bigger batteries in here, so longer
01:10:51
battery life, better optics, so potentially better camera quality. Um
01:10:56
and then how much do you like the Oakley look? You can get these Oakleys, you can get the Meta Ray-B bands. Two enormous
01:11:02
companies in I feel like the two biggest that I know of as far as name brands in glasses that people wear, Oakley and
01:11:09
Ray-B bands. So I'm waiting for the Warby Parkers. Yeah, I think Well, didn't Google just
01:11:14
snag that? Yeah, they did. So, like, yeah, they kind of don't have many choices left as far as who to partner with. So,
01:11:19
I don't really want Meta on my face, but I would maybe do. Google's cool, though. I don't know. I'm surprised at how light
01:11:25
these are. The Ray-B bands are really cool. Have you tried them? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They're super No. And the video quality is actually
01:11:31
quite good. Yeah. Like, as a product, what they offer, like, forget like the fashion part. Obviously, you can like the look
01:11:36
or not or get a different look. But it's a camera on your face and the POV video aspect of it seems to be the thing that
01:11:42
people are most gravitating towards. Yeah. And then also really good. Yeah. And then, you know, however much you want to use the AI assistant, you
01:11:49
can ask it about what you're looking at. You can ask it random questions. You can talk to it like it's your phone but without your hands.
01:11:54
Yeah. That's decently useful. I wish you could do uh horizontal video on them still. It's kind of wild to me
01:12:00
that they didn't introduce that. Yeah. I don't know. Maybe it was like a vertical resolution thing or because
01:12:05
because there's parallax cuz it's only on one side. It's because they want you to Instagram. Wait, sorry. There would be no there
01:12:12
would be no parallax. Oh, right. They want you to sell them to Instagram. Yeah. Instagram. Wait. So, look. Here's I'm recreating
01:12:19
the Zuckerberg picture. Yeah. You look way better in those than Zuck does.
01:12:24
Thank you. I don't I don't know that to be true. Also, the color the official color is
01:12:29
called Desert 24K Prism Polar. What are the other colors?
01:12:34
Right. What are the other colors? There's some ones that are not as There's a kind of clear one. I think if you press the arrows right there.
01:12:40
I don't like that they call 3K video ultra HD. It's not ultra HD. It's 3K, not 4K, but it is better than before.
01:12:47
They are It's a It's $500 for the limited edition and three and and $400
01:12:53
for the regular ones. Yeah. Yeah. So, that is quite a bit more expensive, right? The regular Ray-B band
01:12:59
metas were Oh, how 300. Yeah. They're like 329.
01:13:05
329, something like that. Yeah. You know, I would like them a lot more if they didn't have that weird
01:13:10
divot near the nose bridge, but I probably wouldn't. You look fine in
01:13:16
them. So, maybe I'm just being like hard on myself. The silhouette on these is very
01:13:23
particular. Like I feel like the Ray-B bands most people wear those kind of sunglasses like the Wayfairer style. So,
01:13:30
wearing them doesn't look like super out of place. It's not like drawing attention to yourself. Oakleys are like very particular to
01:13:36
certain like places and things that people are doing like activities. Yeah. It's all fashion, all style,
01:13:42
subjective. You know, it's funny. I just got a notification saying the interior of my Rivian is 126° now. So, it's
01:13:50
running the fans to protect the displays. Maybe so they don't break. Whoa. Whoa. But speaking of Rivian,
01:13:58
nice. See what I just did there? I didn't plan that. They just I got the notification. uh small Rivian update. They are
01:14:05
updating their maps system to be fully a little bit more integrated with Google
01:14:10
Maps. I I don't functionally think it makes that much of a difference, but there are some nice little things that they've
01:14:15
added. So, there's better satellite view. It's obviously going to be built into Google's data, so real-time traffic
01:14:21
and, you know, rerouting, better routing to get to your navigation points. Um, when you go to a charger, it will be
01:14:28
able to know how long you have to sit there to charge versus when you take off to get to the next place, how long how
01:14:33
much you arrive with. All that is great. Uh, and then I think honestly the best
01:14:39
point, which is kind of like a brief mention in the video, but it makes a big difference when you're using it, is as you're driving, you couldn't do this before, you can touch a point of
01:14:45
interest on the map and it'll show you the info for it. So I've been driving in the Rivian and been like, "What is that weird looking building?" and it'll show
01:14:51
like a name and I just want to tap it and just figure out what it is. But you couldn't do that in the Vivian maps
01:14:57
before. Now you can. I think that's the best new thing. Uh still no CarPlay or Android Auto, but you know, better Google mapping is
01:15:02
always welcome for us Rivian drivers. So yeah, shout out to that. Cool. Would you take CarPlay or Android Auto
01:15:10
over this? Uh at this point, no. I'm so used to it. Like I have a little I guess yeah, I
01:15:15
would take it. I'm not like mad. Like if I had it, I would use ways and Spotify and everything built in, but I have a
01:15:21
little mount for my phone. And at this point, my instinct as soon as I get in the Rivian is I just put my phone up and
01:15:27
I hit ways and then I'm good to go. So yeah, it's it's something I learned to live with in my many years of driving
01:15:33
a Tesla. It's like just kind of you just put your phone up, you know? I just feel like this is the future for
01:15:39
all cars, unfortunately, is they're all going to have like their own weird mention that and we just all use our
01:15:44
phones anyway. There is kind of this tide happening of of you have to if you're a car manufacturer, you kind of
01:15:50
have to pick. CarPlay Ultra is looming. Like the new improvements with CarPlay
01:15:55
in iOS 26 are very solid. And if you are a car company trying to figure out if
01:16:02
you should lean into this CarPlay thing or lean out, it's never been a more
01:16:07
important time to make that choice. I feel like it's kind of a fork in the road for them. And yeah, I'm the
01:16:13
Escalade doesn't have CarPlay. Like that's one of the notable things it doesn't have that maybe some people
01:16:18
would hate about it. It also has 50 in of displays running Google apps and the
01:16:23
Play Store and Ways and Spotify and all sorts of other stuff. So maybe you don't care. It doesn't have CarPlay, but up to
01:16:28
you. Anyway, speaking of cars that don't have CarPlay, one more story. And I actually have a take about this that I I'm not sure about, but I think I'm
01:16:35
going to just send it. Okay. Tesla has Yeah. Recently unveiled uh a
01:16:40
new Model Y. It's called the model. Let me actually get the name of it. Model Y plus. Model Y L. There it is.
01:16:47
Model Model Y. Didn't they update this sooner? Model. Why did they put a AI girlfriend in my car?
01:16:53
None of these things. It is. It is just a longer Model Y. So, this is this is announced by the like their Weibo
01:16:58
account. So, I'm pretty sure this is just going to be in China, at least for now. But the Model Y L is a longer Model
01:17:04
Y, longer wheelbase, and has three rows. So, three sets of rows for people to,
01:17:10
you know, jump in. I think the the expected three row before was like a little cramped. A little cramp.
01:17:16
Very cramped. The third row was super cramped. I don't think Lane would fit in the middle three rows for car seats basically. But this is like a real a
01:17:22
real three row size. It's still pretty small, but it's funny. The wheelbase is actually 3
01:17:27
in longer than the Model X while the overall size is still slightly smaller than a Model X. But there's
01:17:33
theoretically enough passenger room for the same three rows of people as a Model X. And I think that's really interesting
01:17:38
because it's probably it's going to be cheaper than a Model X. And this is one more reason why Tesla could kill the
01:17:45
Model X today. Yeah, the Model X sucks. It's not that it sucks, it's just that
01:17:51
it's more expensive for not that much more utility. Obviously, they make a plaid one, so like if you have more
01:17:56
money, it's good for Tesla to just offer a more expensive thing for you to buy. It has a Falcon Wing doors. It's a
01:18:02
little bit more high-tech in its overall presence, but generally it's like just
01:18:08
Yeah. bring that Model Y L to more markets and there will be even less reason for Model X to exist.
01:18:14
The Model X was the first one after the Roadster, right? No. So, it was Roadster, then it was Model S.
01:18:19
And then, yeah, along comes Falcon Wing Doors, Model X, then S or then Y or three then Y. Jeez, I don't know. I think the Falcon Wing
01:18:25
doors are like overrated. They're they're also kind of polarizing. Like I know people who love the Falcon
01:18:31
Wing doors. I also know people who wouldn't dare pull up to the school to take their kid out of the thing with Falcon Wing doors.
01:18:37
So it's kind of a statement. Yeah. But yeah, a Model Y L seems like a really
01:18:43
really good alternative to the Model X. I've been wondering why the X even continues to exist like even after the
01:18:49
Model Y came out. I know that the X is still bigger, but it's just like how big do you really need?
01:18:54
Isn't it more luxurious? I don't care. Um, the back head room will be better in the X than this cuz
01:19:01
like this is the roof is going to be slanting back way. The trim is I thought it was supposed to be like higher
01:19:06
quality. Like people always say like like well no the three and Y were supposed to be a little more simple to save on costs
01:19:12
and or originally I guess then there did the refresh of the S and it went this
01:19:18
landscape screen and they so the Model S and X still have a display behind the steering wheel
01:19:24
and there they still have little things that cost more money and I guess you could say the falconing door is a big thing that cost more money but uh in
01:19:31
general the interiors are very similar other than that you have a back a back seat uh display. You know, they probably
01:19:38
charge at similar rates. I don't think they're that different. Uh but yeah, Model Y S or Model Y L is here. Well,
01:19:45
they also YSL YSL Model Y LS
01:19:51
they also introduced a Model 3 Plus only in China. Uh it just has more range.
01:19:56
Cool. So, with a different type of battery. Nice. So,
01:20:01
[Music] trivia. It's about that time.
01:20:07
Can I steal a quarter? Have you been writing things this entire episode? No. This is why I want to introduce the rule.
01:20:12
Nope. Quick update on the score. Marquez with 28. Andrew with 17. David in the lead with
01:20:20
21. 31. 31. Thank you. Earlier in this episode, I asked you to
01:20:28
think of every company that released a product that had aqi that was chi
01:20:35
compatible, had the official chi standard in it prior to iPhone joining the rat race in 2017 with the iPhone 8.
01:20:45
That was incredible the timing. And it's minus one for the wrong ones.
01:20:52
Yeah. If you get one wrong, wait, really? You go minus one point minus one towards the total of this
01:20:58
answer or you start losing points. No, I say the whole point. Yeah, you start losing points. No. What?
01:21:03
It's my game. It's our game. But that's danger zone. Adam and I's game. So, David, you're winning for now.
01:21:09
I'm deleting one that I'm not sure about. Yeah. All right. Who would like to go first?
01:21:16
Should we all flip them? I'll go first because I have the least amount. Okay. Motorola.
01:21:22
Motorola is on there with the Droid 3 in 2011. Samsung
01:21:28
Samsung is on there with the Galaxy S3 in 2012. LG LG is an accepted answer, but they're
01:21:37
the phone that don't care. It's accepted. The Droid 3. So, that was three points for Andrew.
01:21:42
Three points for Andrew. Yeah, Andrew, how does it feel? Um, bad cuz I can see how many all of
01:21:47
them put and how many I missed. Well, maybe maybe they're about to eat it.
01:21:52
Probably not. So, uh, David or Marquez, would one of you guys like to volunteer to go next?
01:21:58
Do you want me to go? I'll go. Okay, you go. Uh, I crossed on my role, unfortunately. I would have gotten a point there. I wrote Samsung.
01:22:04
I appreciate the honesty, Marquez. Actually, also give Andrew a fourth point for coming up with the uh, you lose a point thing.
01:22:09
Okay. What? I I did say that earlier. You got a point. All right. Marquez, please. Samsung,
01:22:16
LG, HTC, but you're not giving points for that, correct? Uh, Starbucks.
01:22:23
That one was hard to research. And IKEA. Way to go. Okay. I wasn't sure if IKEA would have
01:22:28
been That was a great guess. I didn't know how early it was. Yeah. So, I put HTC sort of. I'm not not awarding points for that,
01:22:34
but it's all good. Uh, Asus. Hell yeah. Do you know what ASUS product is? Was it the Zen Phone 4? Uh, it was even
01:22:41
actually they made a PC with a cheap pad built into it, the M70. Oh,
01:22:46
that's cool. Uh, Samsung. Uh, yes. Samsung. Starbucks. Yes. LG.
01:22:52
Yes. Motorola. Yes. Google. Uh, Google and LG. Technically Nexus 4
01:22:58
both. I'm not getting several points for that. In post, I'm going to add some like funky music under this. So, just Yeah. Do do bob your head a little bit
01:23:04
like you're dancing. The Toyota Avalon in 2013. In 2015, the Lexus NX, the Sony
01:23:11
Xperia ZV3, wow. The Blackberry Priv
01:23:20
Starbucks, and I think um there's a Palm device that might have had chi, not the
01:23:25
pre, but they made some other like peripheral that did. Anyway, there you go. The more you know. Hey, that's what
01:23:31
that's what trivia is all about is learning something. So, even if David extended his lead with even more points
01:23:36
than he needed, uh, we all learned something today. Yeah. It's actually crazy how I tried to like shuffle up the scores of the big
01:23:42
points question and the delta here was one. Well, what's funny is we still have one more trivia question. We do have one more trivia question,
01:23:48
guys. The Google CR48. Just kidding, guys. Uh, after what decade did Samsung
01:23:56
buy? Oh, no. Sorry, guys. What mid9s? No, sorry. What '90s hiphop fashion
01:24:04
brand did the textiles division of Samsung Aad invest in
01:24:10
in the '90s? Hiphop. Hiphop. What the heck is a hip-hop brand?
01:24:17
Apparel brand. Wait, what the heck is hip-hop? Can you send me the link to the old Samsung watch? I want to see that really
01:24:22
bad. Uh, later. What in the heck is hip-hop apparel?
01:24:28
They began investing in this company in 1995. So, yeah, there's really one famous hip-hop. Like,
01:24:35
there's obviously lots of See, David, that's not a bad guess. It's wrong, but it's not a bad guess. Cool.
01:24:40
Did all three of you get Oh my god. I wasn't even online yet. First of all,
01:24:45
I'm not going to know this. Echo is definitely a skateboarding brand, right? Am I right? Am I right about that? I don't know if what makes up.
01:24:51
It felt the like Yeah, I guessed Reebok.
01:24:57
That is the farthest thing from a I guess Supreme. Do you guys remember the fake Supreme Samsung phone?
01:25:02
No. Yeah, because there was like the fake Supreme. It was Supreme Italy, which is
01:25:08
not associated with Supreme and they tricked Samsung into making a collab phone where they thought they were
01:25:14
working with the real Supreme. Incredible. It was amazing. I really I'm pretty sure it was like a
01:25:19
brickandmortar store or something. It was so good. Wow. Yeah. Supreme was like,
01:25:25
"We didn't make this." Okay. Wait. So, Supreme wrong. Oh, wow. Uh Reebok, wrong. And then Andrew, you
01:25:32
put Echo, which is wrong. Santa Cruz. The correct answer is Fubu. Fubu for us
01:25:39
by us. Isn't that a streaming service? That is Fubo, which made Googling this question to fact check it really hard.
01:25:47
There wasn't even a did you mean Fubu? It was just like you meant Fubo, right, guys? It's literally on TBO. It's
01:25:52
literally on Hei. All right, Marquez, take us out. Like I said, that's the point of trivia
01:25:57
is we might not know the answers, but at the end of the day, everybody here learned something. Shout out to Damon John. Thanks for watching. Thanks for
01:26:04
listening, and uh catch you guys very soon in our next regularly scheduled episode of Waveform. See you there.
01:26:10
Peace. We're literally on Hebo. Waveform is produced by Adamolina and

01:26:22
Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. [Music]
01:26:40
I'm not ready. Asian. Hurry. It's not funny. I got schooled.
