Okay, that takes the pressure off. My name is Courtney Wagand and I'm an assistant professor at Wharton in the
00:00:06
finance department. I grew up in DC, but for the past six years I've been in New
00:00:11
York pursuing my PhD in finance from NYU Stern. I study how financial markets respond to fiscal and monetary policy
00:00:18
with a specific focus on the asset pricing response from news coming out of Congress and the Federal Reserve.
00:00:24
[music] I interned at the House Budget Committee when I was in college where I got firsthand experience learning about
00:00:30
the budget process in Congress. And then after I graduated from college, I spent
00:00:35
two years as a research assistant at the Federal Reserve Board where I learned more about financial markets and asset
00:00:40
pricing. [music] And so this combination of both monetary policy and finance as well as my fiscal policy experience
00:00:47
naturally led me to want to study the intersection of these two things. >> [music]
00:00:51
>> I'm excited to get to know my colleagues better, learn more about their research
00:00:56
projects, and [music] explore different ways that we can connect and collaborate
00:00:59
together.
