>> My name is Eric Santoro and I'm an
00:00:06
assistant professor in the operations,
00:00:08
information, and decisions department.
00:00:10
I'm from Farmington, Connecticut, which
00:00:13
is about 20 minutes outside of Harvard.
00:00:15
My research focuses on conversations
00:00:17
[music] across divides both in the
00:00:19
workplace and in society more broadly.
00:00:20
So, I've long been interested in
00:00:22
conversations. So for instance, in
00:00:24
college, I co-led a discussion group
00:00:25
where myself and other students met each
00:00:28
[music] week to discuss life's big
00:00:29
questions. Since then, when I started
00:00:31
graduate school, [music] there were a
00:00:33
lot of new methods that made the study
00:00:34
of conversations at scale possible. So I
00:00:36
thought it was a cool opportunity to
00:00:38
combine and turn my interests into
00:00:41
research. Warren has such a vibrant
00:00:42
community from students [music] to staff
00:00:45
to faculty and I'm really excited about
00:00:46
the opportunity to learn from them, to
00:00:48
teach them, to collaborate with them,
00:00:50
and work with them.
