00:00:03
So, if you know something, you'll be able to go home today. You aren't going anywhere. What you did
00:00:08
last night is [ __ ] up. You killed somebody. Just hours prior to this interrogation,
00:00:15
20-year-old Isaac Pence brutally stabbed someone to death and [music] fled the scene. Over 20 college students watched
00:00:23
as Isaac viciously took the life of their friend, Charles Starner. Unfortunately for them, they were in the
00:00:30
middle of the woods staying in a vacation cabin in Ohio. Help was far away and Isaac was on the run. Over the
00:00:39
course of the next few days, this group of [music] college kids would work with police to hunt down this evil killer
00:00:45
together and bring justice to their friend who was senselessly killed. But Isaac thinks he's getting away with it.
00:00:54
That smells like [ __ ] And you think that's funny? Everyone got way too drunk, about 15 of
00:00:59
them. All went to the cabin outside and tried to jump in. Yeah, I woke up and my mom's like, "Hey,
00:01:11
cops are here for you." I was like, "What the [ __ ] do you mean cops are here for me?"
00:01:18
On the night of April 22nd, 2023, 23-year-old Dalton Flag was celebrating his birthday [music] with friends and
00:01:26
family at a rented cabin in Hocking County, Ohio. But what should have been the perfect night would quickly turn out
00:01:32
to be a tragedy. This is the CCTV footage outside the house. After a long night of drinking,
00:01:40
an altercation ensues between a group of teens. Isaac stood in the midst of the argument with his girlfriend, Sabra,
00:01:46
watching from afar. After a few seconds of back and forth, Isaac snaps, throwing
00:01:51
a punch into the crowd. This made them push Isaac back into a car where he would strike the crowd again before
00:01:57
setting off towards his own vehicle. However, moments later the fist [music] fight quickly turned into a gruesome
00:02:03
scene. Outside of the camera's view, Isaac ran back to his car to grab something. But
00:02:10
before he could exit his car again, he was quickly cornered by multiple people trying to force him to leave. That's
00:02:16
when Isaac pulled out his knife and attacked. Charles Starner, the college student
00:02:22
pushing on Isaac's car door, went on to receive six brutal stab wounds struck in
00:02:27
the neck and the back. Panic set in as everyone realized the horrifying scene unfolding in front of them. One of
00:02:34
Charles's friends quickly grabbed him [music] and pulled him away from the vicious attack. Isaac would then quickly
00:02:39
get inside his car and drive off into the woods with his girlfriend Sabra. The killer Isaac was now on the loose and
00:02:47
would spend the following hours attempting to cover his tracks. Charlie on the other hand, the student he just
00:02:53
stabbed, limped over to his friends fading in and out consciousness. Charlie's friend Hannah was an EMS
00:03:00
student, but the injuries were too brutal for her to keep him alive. By the time paramedics arrived on scene, it was
00:03:06
already too late and Charlie would pass away. Officers at this point have no idea what
00:03:14
led to Charlie's death. Anyone at the crime scene could be a potential killer, so they immediately rally everyone
00:03:19
together looking for outliers. All right, you want to slide him over so we can I can move my car.
00:03:24
This is Detective Sumner right there. She's going to start asking you questions.
00:03:27
Nice to meet you. Top of the morning to you. Yeah, great night. Who saw what happened?
00:03:34
I saw everything that happened. I don't know. you come stand over here? You saw what happened too? Stay
00:03:40
separate, but stand over here. Anyone else? The two people who just stepped forward
00:03:47
are Hannah and James, and they are the only two who are entirely drenched in blood.
00:03:54
Do you have a phone? Um, I believe it's Okay. right here on the side of the forearm.
00:03:59
Just stand where you're at. So, I think all of that's Any blood on your pants, your shoes?
00:04:10
Bro. We're probably going to take your hoodie. James's blood stains appear to be those
00:04:14
of a witness, since they were smooth and smeared. If he was the one who stabbed Charlie, the blood patterns would likely
00:04:20
be sharp and scattered across the body. As for Hannah, all of her arms were covered in blood, indicating that she
00:04:26
was likely trying to stop Charlie from bleeding out by applying pressure. Regardless, it's clear the two were
00:04:32
eyewitnesses to Charlie's murder, so Detective Summers and her counterpart would immediately conduct an interview
00:04:38
with both James and Hannah to get a clear recollection of events. All right. That's the body cam sitting out there in
00:04:49
the back. Yes. All right. Tell me what you saw, what happened, what led up to all these
00:04:55
events. So, I had been inside the house. Once you go in, once you go in, and you go to
00:05:03
the right, there's like the whole kitchen, family room, blah blah blah blah blah.
00:05:09
Well, uh there's this one kid at the whole party that cuz he knew I had background in EMS, was
00:05:15
calling me firefighter, firefighter, firefighter. And so, I showed him some pictures from
00:05:20
like different like fires I'd been on. And then, somebody got mad at him for talking to me,
00:05:31
which wasn't even any guy that I really knew. Well, so they started fist fighting inside, like right in the
00:05:37
doorway, once you go into the right. And the kid that's covered in blood, Jimmy,
00:05:44
Jimmy and I were kind of standing off to the side. And I told him, I was like, "I
00:05:47
don't like this." Cuz like I mean everybody's trying to tear it up and stuff. Like they were still wrestling.
00:05:52
They got out into this main four door right here in front of the door, but I was still sitting like at the kitchen
00:05:57
table. So, I could kind of hear what was going on. But once again, I don't want to get
00:06:02
involved. And then I heard where I heard somebody say gun. And that's when I was
00:06:05
like, "I'm definitely going to stay in here." They're out here fighting like right in front of my truck, the Toyota
00:06:13
4Runner. And uh Jimmy, the kid that's covered in blood, was trying to separate them.
00:06:19
And I think what happened is he pulled over to his center center console, pulled a knife out.
00:06:24
And when he did, he went straight for the neck. That's how he got the neck wound.
00:06:28
For his back. For his back again. And he got him again in the back. I want to say it was like five stab wounds,
00:06:35
four or five stab wounds. But I mean, he did Like I mean, it was very fast, very
00:06:42
vigorously. The moves Hannah describes are not supposed to be used [music] to protect
00:06:46
yourself from the attacker, but to kill them. One poke or a stab might be enough
00:06:51
to deter the attacker, but four or five of them to vital parts of the victim's body is a clear indication that Isaac
00:06:58
intended to kill. So, kind of [music] explain this to me a little bit. So, they were fighting, I
00:07:03
guess fist fighting over here on this side? Yeah, they were fighting on this side.
00:07:06
Okay. And then what happened? That guy, I think his name's Isaac. He got up, came over to his car, which was
00:07:15
right where the got up. So, he got knocked down? [snorts] I don't know. I was standing on the porch at that
00:07:20
time. He's over here on the porch. Yeah. Okay. But I just saw them all go down there. He was parked right next to
00:07:27
the 4Runner. So, he went to get in his car, and that's when everything happened. But I
00:07:33
saw him start stabbing Charlie, so that's when I kicked his door to kind of stop him. And then
00:07:40
I pulled Charlie away and then onto the other side and that's when I was we were all just holding him.
00:07:46
Did he know he had a knife at that point, you think? knew. Okay. I mean, after that, I like I just got my
00:07:53
arm around Charlie to hold pressure on all of his wounds and then that's why there's blood from this side of the
00:07:58
4Runner over cuz after I dragged him there, that's where I sat the whole time until
00:08:03
you guys got here. It just I trust my gut feeling and tonight was just not right and that was
00:08:09
terrifying. Well, I understand cuz it was just an absolute show and I came out onto the porch to make sure like I
00:08:16
was honestly kind of scared I was going to get shot because they had said, you know, there might be a gun, but I wanted
00:08:21
to be here in case somebody got hurt and Isaac had called over the phone and threatened to come back and finish the
00:08:28
job, further confirming to police that this was not an act of self-defense. While Jimmy and Hannah's interviews
00:08:35
provide detectives with a clear picture of what led to the stabbings, both witnesses had never met Isaac before.
00:08:40
However, police still know nothing about the actual person who committed this murder, so Detective Summers decides to
00:08:47
bring in Dalton, [music] the party's host, who also happens to be Sabra's brother, and he would reveal some
00:08:53
twisted information crucial to solving this case. So, walk me through. How long have you
00:08:58
guys been here? Um we've been here the whole weekend. Um Yeah, we we we got here Friday uh like
00:09:06
4:00 p.m. I think it was. Um and literally like all these people I was making sure everybody had like safe
00:09:12
rides home. I didn't want people driving like if you're driving, I there's plenty
00:09:15
of room to stay. You all everybody could stay. And I was making sure everyone was
00:09:19
leaving and Isaac Pence, the one that he was belligerent and I said, "Dude, I was
00:09:27
like you have a safe ride to go home. Just leave. Leave. There's no like just no there's no reason for anything here.
00:09:34
Like everybody's going home. Half the people are sleeping trying to go to bed. Like, I was in the in the when this all
00:09:41
like went down, I was try I was telling everybody to get like get him out like just get him out of
00:09:46
here. Tell him to leave, get him out of here. And then start they all start freaking out. He
00:09:51
stabbed he stabbed him. I was like We all were freaking out. Like, I was like I I'm so much in shock like I did
00:09:56
not know what to do. I was up there and Hannah and Jimmy they were all helping like holding like on him. I was like
00:10:04
just keep pressure on him. Like, I like I'm I don't know what to do like And they were all calling like
00:10:10
Who is him when you're saying that they were holding pressure on him? Who is The one that got stabbed. Charlie, Star,
00:10:16
Hannah and Jimmy they were holding pressure on him after like They were like He He stabbed him. He stabbed him.
00:10:20
And like Isaac hopped in the car after like immediately and sped off. He was up there here.
00:10:27
Okay. Who was Isaac with? Who did he sleep with? He My sister Sabre fight. Isaac's had issues in the past. He's put
00:10:36
his hands on my sister and he's just literally went to jail 3 months ago for putting his hands on my mom.
00:10:42
Isaac Pence was someone that should never have been at this party in the first place. He already had a history of
00:10:48
being violent as Dalton explained and to make matters worse, he was dead beat drunk. Flailing around, assaulting
00:10:56
everyone that came into view. It was only a matter of time before someone got seriously hurt. It just so happened that
00:11:01
Dalton telling Isaac to leave made him explode. More importantly, Dalton explained that Isaac went to prison for
00:11:08
assaulting his mother. This is very important information as it could prove in court that Isaac had pre-existing
00:11:14
tendencies of assault. Detective Summers plans to speak to Dalton's mother face-to-face but [music] before she's
00:11:19
able to do so, she receives disturbing information that changes [music] the case completely.
00:11:24
They went to the hotel room where Sabre's mom is staying. She told him to get their [ __ ] and get out. I mean, I
00:11:30
don't know she doesn't know if he's coming back to finish what he started or what.
00:11:34
Cool. Nice. Cool. All right. Have a good one. I'll head over to the car. All right, bud. Good luck. Go with God.
00:11:40
With these claims in mind, police would have everyone evacuate the premises and lock down the cabin. Fortunately, Isaac
00:11:47
would never show and the hunt for Isaac Pence would go cold for the night. Um how many children do you have? This
00:12:01
is the type of Randall. We just need a statement from you about what happened last night.
00:12:09
I know. I was Besides we start work at 6:00 this morning, I was woke up at 3:00 a.m. by
00:12:15
my daughter calling me on the phone. She was hard to understand. I could tell she was intoxicated.
00:12:21
And she was very hard for me to understand what she was saying. Um I could I knew there was a fight. She
00:12:28
said a fight was breaking out. Um She said I've lost my gla- I don't have my glasses. I don't have my purse. I
00:12:34
don't have a shoe. I was trampled on. Dalton [cough] and Isaac. Dalton is my son. Isaac is
00:12:42
They Not very good blood, but He's Isaac's not treating Sabre very well. Um I I We had a court case not too long ago
00:12:53
where he threw me across the room. So, Dalton's just He's protective of his sis- of his
00:12:59
sister. Worried for her safety, really. Um so, he told her yesterday he's not to
00:13:04
come if he's been drinking. Well, when he got out of the car, [clears throat] he had an He had a
00:13:08
container on him. And Dalton said he tried to get him to leave all night. Several times he tried
00:13:13
to get him to leave and Isaac wouldn't leave. Okay. So, this is what she told you on the
00:13:18
phone, right? Yeah. And then I said, "Sabre, where are you going right now? Where are you Are
00:13:22
you" She said they She first told me they were at Isaac's house. I said, "Sabre."
00:13:29
Okay. But I could hear this in the background. I could hear Isaac talking to somebody.
00:13:34
And she was still sitting in the car. And I said, "If you're at your house, if you guys are at your house, why are you
00:13:38
still sitting in the car?" She's like, "Well, I don't know where we are." I said, "Sabre, ask Isaac where you are."
00:13:43
So, she asked Isaac where they were. Isaac said, "It's okay. I stopped at a buddy's house."
00:13:48
And um I said, "Okay." I don't know what buddy. I know they said something on Chicken Chicken King
00:13:55
Road. But then they left there and came to the room. They were at my room for maybe 20 minutes.
00:14:04
And I told Isaac he needed to leave. He said He was calm when I was talking to Sabre
00:14:12
on the phone. Much different person when he was there at the room. He said, "Well, once I go to my house
00:14:18
and get what I need, I'm going back out there." I don't know what he was meaning, but he
00:14:23
was going out there to finish finish something off. What time was that? That was I mean, they left my room at 19
00:14:31
till 5. 5:00 a.m.? Yes. Cuz then I called my mom cuz I said, "Obviously, I don't know what's going on. It's I
00:14:41
can't I'm not I'm not I'm not going to work today." And I called McDonald's. I'm manager at
00:14:45
McDonald's. And I called him and said, "I don't really know what's going on. This is all I know, but I know
00:14:50
my kid I don't know. I just feel like something's I'm not being told everything and
00:14:56
I just I I still can't believe this. It's frankly terrifying that despite the fact that Sabre just watched her
00:15:06
boyfriend stab someone to death, all she cares about is getting her belongings back before work the next day. This
00:15:13
ignorance and complete disregard for their crimes is something that both Isaac and Sabre should be held
00:15:19
accountable for. Police would go on to get written statements from everyone at the house
00:15:24
that night, adding to the pile of evidence against Isaac. However, the next day, Hannah and James would show up
00:15:30
to the station to provide police with the most damning evidence they've received yet.
00:15:35
Obviously, a lot was going on yesterday. Um so, I uh Remember how I said I had been on the
00:15:43
porch? Mhm. Well, I think I'm Well, I flew off the porch so fast and I ended up on the hood
00:15:49
of my truck because I thought Isaac was going to hit my car. Okay. So, I started recording a video in the
00:15:54
circumstance that he hit my car. Okay. And I captured the entire stabbing. Um I captured um
00:16:01
Sabrina, the female that was in the passenger seat. You can see her reaching in the back seat with her flashlight on
00:16:06
her phone. Um So, There's Sabrina in THE PASSENGER SEAT. [screaming] [screaming]
00:16:37
THERE IS SABRINA. [screaming] AND THEN THAT'S HIM DRIVING AWAY. HONESTLY, IF YOU PUT THE brightness on
00:16:46
the video up, we might be able to see a little bit better. So, it just goes so fast, but it's him
00:16:53
standing up in the door up there. There's Sabrina getting in the back seat. She grabs something and she tosses it
00:16:58
onto his seat. Toss toss it where? Something from the back seat onto his car seat.
00:17:05
Now, Isaac's on so Isaac's right there in the middle. Okay. I see him. He's the one standing up there. That's
00:17:13
his arm yelling telling him then he's stabbing right there. And watching Jimmy grabbing him and
00:17:18
pulling him back. This video is a crucial step in proving Isaac guilty as it shows clearly that
00:17:25
Isaac did in fact stab Charlie. Additionally, Sabre seems to hand something over to Isaac right before the
00:17:31
stabbing occurs, meaning she could have potentially given Isaac the knife used to kill Charlie. With this, police have
00:17:38
more than enough evidence to arrest Isaac and Sabre. This would be an easy task as police were able to ping Sabre's
00:17:45
phone location to Isaac's house. They would be detained shortly thereafter. However, during the investigation, they
00:17:51
also discovered something peculiar. By tracing the car's movements found at Isaac's house, officers realized that
00:17:58
Sabre and Isaac visited two other locations before arriving at their own home. The first was the house of Isaac's
00:18:05
friend Justin Sloan. At approximately 3:00 a.m., just minutes after the stabbing, CCTV cameras captured Sabre
00:18:12
and Isaac stopping at the home. [music] Why exactly they stopped would soon unravel itself as officers called
00:18:28
Justin. Hello. Hello, is this Justin? Yes. Hi Justin, this is Detective McNights,
00:18:35
Hawkins County Sheriff's Office. I appreciate you talking to our Captain Robinson earlier, but I've just got a
00:18:41
couple follow-up questions real quick. Okay. So, the question that I have is, do you
00:18:45
know Sabre? Uh, yes, because she knew my little brother and stuff, that's how I met her.
00:18:50
Uh, but this is the first time she's been in your house? Uh, this current house that I live in,
00:18:55
yes. Normally, we all just kind of meet at our friend's house. Um, was she present during the
00:18:59
discussions when he was when Isaac was telling you what was happening, what happened last night?
00:19:04
Yes, sir. Okay. Was she present when he hid the knives? Uh, she was in my garage on the phone
00:19:09
with her mother. And he left the garage to go Did he say he was to go do that? Yeah, I couldn't really tell him no cuz
00:19:15
I didn't know what was going on. I had no idea if it was true or not. Okay. Do you have any idea who told the
00:19:20
police that he was going to come back and finish the job? I don't think I did hear him say stuff
00:19:25
like that when he was drunk and freaking out at my house though. It might even be
00:19:30
on camera, but I don't know. He did say stuff like that at your house? Kind of It was more of like he just
00:19:36
wanted to go back and beat up the other people that were trying to jump him. [clears throat]
00:19:40
Okay. All right. The killer couple hid two knives at Justin's home. Evidently, the two were
00:19:46
panicking. With a fresh kill on their hands, they didn't know what to do and stashed the knives at Justin's home
00:19:52
without him knowing. Once Justin refuses to give them shelter, Isaac and Sabra make a second stop, Sabra's mother's
00:19:58
hotel room. It's obvious the two were panicking. Isaac knew what he did could get him in serious trouble, so instead
00:20:05
of working with the police to prove his innocence, he hid the murder weapons and
00:20:09
ran. Evidence points to Isaac as a clear killer who murdered an innocent college
00:20:14
student for no reason. With little to no evidence proving the statement to be wrong, detectives decide
00:20:20
[music] it's time to conduct their first formal interrogation with Isaac. The goal of this interrogation is to get
00:20:26
Isaac to admit to the murder and then slowly break his attempt at claiming self-defense until he has nothing left
00:20:33
other than to admit his evil actions. Why [snorts] don't you tell me a little bit about yourself?
00:20:41
Um I live on Hickory 10 Road. And? Okay. How long have you lived there? Uh for about
00:20:49
[clears throat] 6 or 7 years now. Okay. All right. Um Who do you live there with?
00:20:55
Uh my mom, my stepdad. Okay. I got a little brother, little sister. Okay. And then Sabra and my two kids.
00:21:03
Okay. And who's Sabra? Uh my fiance. Okay. All right. And how old are your children?
00:21:08
One is one and one is four months. Okay. All right. On the surface, it might look like Isaac
00:21:16
is a proud father, but he's hiding more than a few skeletons in his closet. When
00:21:21
officers arrived to arrest him, his home's condition was beyond deplorable. The pungent smell of ammonia, likely
00:21:29
accumulated from urine, filled up every single corner of the home. But, that wasn't even the worst part. Isaac was a
00:21:37
well-known abuser, and in his girlfriend's mother's words, Sabra was his biggest victim. This meant that the
00:21:43
children he tries to speak [music] so dearly about were the same ones who, according to people close to Isaac, had
00:21:50
to live in a house that stunk of urine, all the while seeing their mother be abused on the regular. To many, it might
00:21:58
seem that Isaac's complete disregard and ignorance of anyone but himself is what
00:22:03
landed him here in the first place. Yet, in his eyes, he seems to think that he's
00:22:07
done nothing wrong. In fact, as the interview continues, it's almost as if he sees himself as the victim.
00:22:15
All right. So, I was like, you guys came up here for a birthday party, is that correct?
00:22:20
Yeah. Okay. All right. So, whose birthday was it? Um it was her brother's birthday. Um you
00:22:26
know, her brother never got along. Okay. I was there the whole time. I was like,
00:22:31
I knew this was a bad idea. I want to make her happy. So, I was like, you know, I will try to
00:22:36
put my pride aside. Let's go ahead and go. Okay. [music] We were there. Everything
00:22:42
[clears throat] was good. What [snorts] time did you get there? Um it was around 8:00, I think. 8:30. Um
00:22:50
All right. Everything was completely fine. And we were having a good time. Um she ended up having a panic attack cuz
00:22:59
she wanted to get into a hot tub. And she was way too drunk, and she's "Oh, he's going to be mad if I get in the hot
00:23:04
tub." I was like, "Hey, you're fine. Go get in the hot [music] tub." She's like, "Well, there's
00:23:09
other dudes in there." I was like, "Listen, I'm not getting in the hot tub because
00:23:13
I'm wearing work shorts or work pants, work shirt. I'm not getting in the hot tub." I was like, "You want to get in
00:23:18
there? Go ahead." Notice how Isaac completely leaves out the facts that he, too, was
00:23:24
belligerently drunk. Pay attention to how Isaac cleverly leaves out details that made him a [ __ ] in his story.
00:23:31
She gets in there, everything's fine. Well, later on that night, she's outside, and
00:23:37
we're all standing out in the hallway. She's outside, so as she's out on the patio
00:23:43
Isaac. Okay. Um and then it was me, her brother, and I think like two other guys.
00:23:50
And what's her brother's name? Don. Don. Okay. Um I don't know the other two guys.
00:23:57
But we are all standing right here in the hallway. And someone in the middle like pushing
00:24:01
me. So I pushed him back. Well, Don thought that I pushed his girlfriend, Horizon.
00:24:08
And so he got all pissed off. That's when everyone tried to jump me. Well, I kind of knew what I was doing a
00:24:16
little bit. So I start throwing them to the side. And that's when I was like, you know,
00:24:23
I'm not trying to fight anybody, so just toss me to the side. I got in my car. I
00:24:28
told Saber, "All right, hey, if you want to go, then we're going." Well, they came and they got in the
00:24:35
passenger car, um and they took her sunglasses, or no, her actual glasses, and her purse out.
00:24:42
Trying to keep her to stay there. So, "Oh, well, you're going to stay here." And I was like, "Well, with
00:24:47
everything going on, like I'm going to leave." Because You You said you just wanted to leave?
00:24:53
Yeah. It was 10 to 15 guys. Okay. And they all they said they are trying to fight me.
00:24:58
Well, then this one comes up to my car door. Came up and he was kicking my car. I mean, once they start sitting there
00:25:05
trying to bust the glass to get to me, that's when I pulled out a knife. I was like, "Hey,
00:25:11
you need to back up." And they didn't listen. They They ended up opening my car door.
00:25:18
What car door? My driver's side car door. They did? Okay. It [music] was two to three guys were
00:25:24
sitting there and they're just yanking on it. I was trying to hold it as good as I could.
00:25:29
And it's three guys sitting there pulling on it. I was like, "I'm not going to let my
00:25:33
door break." I was like, "Hey, you guys need to back up. Like, this is not going
00:25:37
down right here." Okay. And [snorts] they didn't listen. So, I was like, "Listen,
00:25:42
I just started poking at him a little bit." Immediately, Isaac's story contradicts
00:25:47
all of the witness statements thus far. Isaac claims he was the one trying to leave the party, while everyone else
00:25:53
claims they were trying to get Isaac to leave. Unfortunately for Isaac, the phone recording, CCTV footage, and
00:26:00
mountains of other evidence go directly against what he's saying. But for now, detectives will let Isaac create a
00:26:07
detailed narrative without confrontation so that they can use it against him in later interrogations.
00:26:14
Like, I didn't try to do it to physically hurt anybody really bad, but I did it just to like poke like, "Hey, I
00:26:20
have a knife. Calm down." Where did you Where did you get the knife? Oh, it's in my car.
00:26:25
Okay. Um I use it for work. Okay. Because doing construction, Okay. we use it to cut plastic and everything.
00:26:31
Okay. They wouldn't stop. They just kept going. So, I tried to stab the one guy in the
00:26:37
arm just so they would get off. Well, as soon as I stabbed him in the arm, they left.
00:26:42
The other two guys took off completely. Okay. [music] And that's when Sabre got in the car and I
00:26:49
took off. I left, got somewhere safe. I called my mom. and was like, "Hey, I should not be driving right now.
00:26:56
And [clears throat] a bunch of [ __ ] has popped off." I was like, "I need to figure out something. I got
00:27:00
to go somewhere, but I don't need to be driving." So, you stabbed the guy in the arm one
00:27:07
time? Uh I think it was twice. Twice? [music] You're sure it wasn't more than that?
00:27:14
I don't think so. Okay. [clears throat] So, when you left and you said you called mom, right?
00:27:20
Um so, did she come get you from there? Uh Susan wasn't able to. Got you. So, did you go Where did you go
00:27:27
after that? I went straight home. Isaac is blatantly making lie after lie. Every lie he makes during this
00:27:33
interrogation will only come back to haunt him once he's presented with factual evidence.
00:27:38
The the knife, what what's its location? Where is it at? Um the [ __ ] should be in my car.
00:27:45
Should be in the car? So, if I didn't drop it at Got you. Yeah, it It's either in the car or is at
00:27:59
their house. Got you. Okay. Detectives would wrap this interrogation up quickly as they got exactly what he
00:28:05
needed. Isaac doubled down on his claims of self-defense and lied through his teeth in order to do so. Now that they
00:28:11
have these statements on record, Isaac is going to have a really hard time proving his innocence once he's
00:28:17
confronted. But for now, police have another issue to address. It's still unclear what
00:28:23
Sabre's role was in the murder. The phone recording could indicate that she handed Isaac the knife, so she could be
00:28:29
equally as guilty for the crime as Isaac is. However, their one priority is to convict Isaac and extract the truth of
00:28:36
what happened that night. So, they sit Sabre down for her one and only interrogation with plans to slowly build
00:28:43
the pressure until she breaks down and confesses everything. Start out at, let's say, 8:00 last
00:28:52
night. What time did you get to the park? So, I I was at work, and then I got off
00:28:56
at 7:00. Um I got off at around 7:30. Um I had people coming in tanning really late, so
00:29:02
I didn't get out till about 7:30. I went home. Um he was asleep when I got there, Isaac
00:29:07
was. So, I woke him up and I said, "Do you still want to go?" He's like, "Yeah, let's do it. You know,
00:29:11
we'll just go for a few hours, cuz I have I'm supposed to go to bed today." Well,
00:29:17
um once we got there, Marla was like, "Yeah, I want to check with you. Like, just stay, and then we'll make sure
00:29:21
you're up in the morning." I just decided to stay on the couch, cuz I was like, "I know I got to get up in the
00:29:25
morning, you know, I got to go to work. I'm not I don't want to get too like wasted." So, I just stayed on the couch,
00:29:30
and they're still having a good time. Isaac's having a good time. And all of a sudden, I hear this big like, you know,
00:29:37
arguing. And I was like, "Oh my gosh, please tell me it's not with Isaac." I go out, and I hear like a bunch of
00:29:44
different stories. Isaac and a few other people are saying that he accidentally pushed Horizon, which is my brother's
00:29:50
girlfriend. Then, my brother's sitting here saying he intentionally pushed her. I don't think he intentionally pushed
00:29:56
her pushed her. He's not that type of person. He's not violent, especially with girls. He hates cuz his mom was
00:30:02
abused by his dad, so he knows what it's like. And he's seen his mom go through all of that. So, I know he's not that
00:30:09
type of that type of person. It's awfully odd that Sabre describes Isaac as nonviolent
00:30:15
and doubles down on him not being the aggressor the entire night, because all of the previous witnesses stated
00:30:21
otherwise. Isaac has had a thorough history of abuse, and everyone besides Sabre clearly remembers him being the
00:30:27
aggressor the entire night. There is a good chance that the reason why Sabre is defending Isaac is a far more
00:30:33
deep-rooted issue. Trauma bonding occurs when an individual suffers from cycles of abuse, followed by positive
00:30:40
reinforcement. This causes the victim to develop a strong emotional attachment to
00:30:45
the abuser, which can result in a rationalization of the abuser's behavior. Considering the fact that
00:30:50
Isaac has abused Sabre's mom, one might question if he's really the saint Sabre makes him out to be in the relationship.
00:30:57
But for now, all that Sabre wants is to defend Isaac because to her, it doesn't matter if he's a murderer.
00:31:05
And they're sitting here arguing and I'm trying to talk to Isaac to calm him down
00:31:09
because I'm like one of the only people that calm down. I'm like, "Okay, let's just, you know, if anything, let's just
00:31:14
go in your car, sit for like a couple hours, and then we can go home." Then they followed us outside. It was like 10
00:31:20
guys, all of my brother's friends, and this guy, I think his name is Clay. I don't
00:31:26
want to be wrong. He goes, "Are you really starting problems again?" And I think he might have thought maybe when I
00:31:32
had my panic attack that Isaac was starting some sort of drama, but he pushed Isaac. Isaac went flying back
00:31:38
into a car. I tried to intervene, just trying to get Isaac away cuz I didn't want to see my brother fight Isaac
00:31:44
and any of that to happen. They end up like back behind Isaac's car. They end up going down that hill. I'm following
00:31:50
them, trying to, you know, break it up. Somehow I fall, and they're like trampling all over me. I have a big
00:31:57
burns on my knee, and he got in the car and he goes, "Sabre, come on, come on, come on." I didn't
00:32:05
even know someone got stabbed until way after we left. And Isaac was like, "I think I stabbed that dude. I think I
00:32:11
stabbed him." I was like, "I was like, oh my god." I was like, "Isaac, I was like, you literally ran away. Like
00:32:15
that's not what you should do." And then I think he stabbed that his friends also
00:32:18
cuz his friends live lives right down the street. He was flipping out cuz he was like, you know, he was like, "Oh my
00:32:24
god, I don't want to get in trouble. I don't want to get in trouble." Then he ended up going to sleep. So I had an
00:32:29
alarm at 7:00, so I could try and wake up and get time to call someone and see if they were up
00:32:35
at that time. And then at that time, that's when I hear pounding on our front door. And I walk out, and Isaac's mom
00:32:42
was like, "Isaac Isaac needs to get out of here. There's a bunch of cops out here
00:32:47
drawing their weapons. He's got to go out." It's clear Sabra doesn't intend on cracking. So, detectives decide it's
00:32:54
time to put the pressure on Sabra and get her to confess. You can't think of anything else that
00:32:59
you forgot to tell us or didn't mention? Not that I know of. Okay. And what do you know of Justin?
00:33:05
Um I know him not like really well. I just know that him and I that we're friends for a couple years.
00:33:11
How long were you at the house talking to him today with [music] Isaac Isaac? [clears throat]
00:33:16
Like 5 minutes. 5 to 10 minutes. Only 5 to 10 minutes? What's as far as I know. Like I mean,
00:33:28
I went in between. Then we were out there for a little bit, and then we left. I'm sure that somebody's already going
00:33:33
to explain things to you, right? So, mother to mother, you love your children, right?
00:33:38
Yes, very much. Okay. And you want to see your kids again someday, right? Yeah. Because today somebody's actions made it
00:33:45
so a mother lost her son, a father lost his son. Somebody lost their boyfriend. Okay?
00:33:52
Several friends lost another friend who bled out at the hands of someone that you care about.
00:33:59
And you know something. I I I really I don't You were there. Yeah, but I didn't I didn't know he got stabbed. I didn't I
00:34:08
didn't know that until after he we left. If you're trying to protect this man, you're going to go down as an accomplice
00:34:14
for murder. I'm not. I promise. I You know something. I I got knocked down, and I was on the
00:34:21
floor or on the ground, and then I got up, and I didn't I didn't see anyone on the floor. I didn't see anyone else on
00:34:27
the floor. I swear. I'm not trying to protect him. So, what did he say after he stabbed him
00:34:32
cuz you guys drove away together? He had to have said something. He didn't He really didn't He said um
00:34:39
I don't even think he said anything. He just got in the car, I got in the car, and then we left, and then shortly after
00:34:44
that he said that he stabbed someone. I'm going to tell you that I talked to his parents, and they said that he's an
00:34:50
explosive, angry, violent drunk. He is, and I I'll I he he is. He's never been like like aggressive to me. Um he
00:35:00
just He gets aggressive, and he'll like he punches back when he'll He He does stupid things when he's drunk. I'll be
00:35:07
the first to admit that. Listen. He died. He's dead. He's gone. I know. I know. I got to bring someone
00:35:15
for So, I want to know why he didn't have to die. Your honesty today is imperative about
00:35:24
what happened. Your honesty today is the is the paramount of what we need to know,
00:35:31
okay? You're not telling us You're hiding some stuff back. You're trying to protect him.
00:35:37
All right, now listen to me. I spoke to your mother on the phone. So did I. You know he's violent against women,
00:35:46
correct? He's been violent before against women, correct? He was violent against your own mama.
00:35:50
I'm talking about Isaac. He So, yes, he did push my mom. Um He did what? He pushed my mom.
00:35:56
Pushed your mom? Um cuz he went to court for it. Um She punched him first, and then she he
00:36:03
pushed her. So, I will say that yes, but he has never laid a hand on me. He's never done anything like that.
00:36:08
You told me earlier that he would never do that to a woman, correct? I totally forgot about my mom. I'm so
00:36:12
sorry. I How is your mom? How can you forget about your mom? You're trying to just
00:36:15
protect him. I'm not. Okay. I'm going [snorts] to tell you right now that my specialty is
00:36:22
domestic violence, sexual assault, and crimes against children. [music] And the living conditions that your
00:36:28
children are in are a crime. A deplorable, sickening crime. I'm 35 years old and I could barely breathe in
00:36:37
that house. There's dog feces everywhere. There The ammonia in that house is horrible.
00:36:45
We'd made a referral to have your children emergency room I'm going to tell you that. All right,
00:36:50
Sabra, you know how I know you're full of [ __ ] You went to your mom's. You went to
00:36:54
Justin's all before you went back to the house. I talked to your mom. I did go to my mom's. I I totally
00:37:01
forgot. I am so sorry. Are you forgetting cuz you were drunk? Are you forgetting cuz you were high?
00:37:06
No. She's forgetting because she doesn't want to tell us the truth. The only thing that I can have is I can
00:37:12
say about you right now is either she was lying or or she [music] was scared, but she
00:37:19
finally told us the truth. I was scared. Okay. You knew that he threw the knives at
00:37:25
Justin's [music] house, correct? Yes, and I apologize. I was I was scared. Who had the gun at the party?
00:37:33
I And I'm being honest to God, I didn't see a gun. I didn't know who had it. I know my brother has a gun registered in
00:37:39
his name. Did your brother have a gun? I don't know. I didn't see one. Okay. What did you see about this stabbing?
00:37:47
Um I didn't see And I'm being completely truthful on everything. I didn't see anyone get stabbed. I didn't see anyone
00:37:54
fall to the floor or anything. anything. This is when I was I think this all this stabbing happened when I
00:38:00
was on the ground. Well, is there anything else that you think that we should know about?
00:38:07
[snorts] Is there anything that you want the prosecutor to know? Because now's the
00:38:13
time to make your case if if you feel that you have one. Sabra, right now I'm going to apologize
00:38:18
to you for lying to us about that. Yes. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like Sabrina is going to crack anytime soon.
00:38:26
However, her lying is just as bad as Isaac's, so convincing her shouldn't be much of a challenge. Additionally, her
00:38:32
cathartic behavior only strengthened the case against Isaac as she revealed that
00:38:36
they did in fact hide the knives at Justin's home, giving detectives another lie to confront Isaac with. So, once and
00:38:43
for all, using all the evidence they've collected for the last several days, detectives sit Isaac down for a final
00:38:50
interrogation. We're going to read Miranda to you since we've had a break in between.
00:38:56
Do you know what your Miranda rights are? Okay, I'm going to read them to you. After reading Isaac his rights, he would
00:39:03
recount everything that happened the night of the murder. We've heard his story multiple times now, so I'll
00:39:08
fast-forward through that portion of the interrogation. Okay. So, I'm going to tell you the only thing
00:39:14
you have left in this world is your integrity. You know what integrity is? Yeah, your honesty.
00:39:20
And I'm going to tell you that I have found about 40 loopholes already in your story.
00:39:25
And I know the truth. I'm not going to ask you a question I already don't have the answer to. Okay, that would make me
00:39:29
a horrible detective. Been here since 3:30 this morning. The last thing I want is your [ __ ] okay?
00:39:36
I am giving you honesty and I'm giving you the opportunity to come clean, okay? If I go to the prosecutor and say he
00:39:43
gave me a line of crap, you know what they're going to do? They're going to throw the book at you come court time.
00:39:47
If I go to the prosecutor and I say, "Hey, this is the guy who made mistakes cuz we all make mistakes. We do it every
00:39:52
single day. I'm not a perfect person. Dave's not a perfect person. We've done and seen some [ __ ] up things, okay?
00:39:58
What you did last night is [ __ ] up. You killed somebody. What? He's dead. When did he die?
00:40:06
Yeah, he died at 8:31 this morning. The world lost a father. He leaves behind a 9 and 1/2 month old son named
00:40:14
[music] Jet. Okay? Somebody lost their son this A mother and father lost their son. A
00:40:20
girlfriend lost her boyfriend that she held compression on for several minutes waiting for a medic to get there to try
00:40:25
and save his life. He died at Grant this morning and you're facing murder charges.
00:40:31
I didn't know that. You did cuz you didn't stab him twice. You stabbed him multiple times.
00:40:37
Way more than twice. And I've interviewed probably 15 or 16 people today that have painted a pretty
00:40:44
gruesome picture involving you. This is your chance to be honest about it. I was just trying to get them to stop.
00:40:50
You get one shot at this and one shot only. I've talked to your mom. I know you were a very violent, explosive
00:40:57
person. I know you drink almost every weekend. You left her in the care and custody of your two children, Drake Owen
00:41:03
Waylon, who are 13 months and 4 months old. I've been inside your bedroom. I've been inside your car. I've had a very
00:41:09
deep conversation with your girlfriend, your girlfriend's mother, and everyone that was at that cabin. You get one shot
00:41:14
at this with me and that's it. You want to start over? With this brilliant confrontation, the
00:41:21
detective successfully convinced Isaac to start again with his story. Just like in Sabre's interview, he already gave
00:41:27
his version of events before this. So, any mistakes he makes now will seal his fate.
00:41:33
Start at the very beginning. How did you end up there? I ended up because they all wanted to go
00:41:39
and I told her that I would go with her. [music] And so we ended up going. But we've never got along, me and her
00:41:49
brother. Mhm. And of course, her brother's friends aren't going to like me if they don't like me.
00:41:57
But he said that he was going to be cool, calm, collected. I said I'll do the same.
00:42:02
And I was until everything blew up. And once everything blows up, then I just blow up and then I just black out.
00:42:10
How much cocaine did you do last night? I didn't [clears throat] do anything. I know there was cocaine there. I have
00:42:14
already found the cocaine. I didn't do any. Did you smoke weed? No. [music] How much did you drink last night?
00:42:20
Um I think I drank a 12-pack of Miller. I took a couple shots of Tennessee. And a bottle of green
00:42:31
Uh it's like green sour apple schnapps. Huh. There was like a half bottle of that.
00:42:37
Okay. So you drank a [music] lot of alcohol knowing that you have an explosive personality when you're drunk.
00:42:43
Okay. [music] Was there some jealousy issues at this party last night? [music] Yeah, a little bit.
00:42:50
What happened? Um well [music] it's just her brother's friend well her friend and
00:42:58
her brother's friend uh Trey I've always not liked him cuz she sits there and says always like a brother,
00:43:05
but then she got mad at me one time and said, "Oh, well Trey's so hot. I'll just
00:43:09
go [ __ ] him." [music] So that's where I don't really trust him anymore. And uh
00:43:17
So when he came that's kind of where I got jealous. Okay. So [music] Sabra is talking to
00:43:24
Trey. Right? Were they together? Uh they're in the hot tub. Okay. And she starts having a panic attack
00:43:32
Yeah. because why? Uh she thought I was going to be mad. If Sabra had panic attacks just thinking
00:43:37
that Isaac was going to be mad at her, one can question exactly how much abuse she dealt with to behave like this.
00:43:44
Worse yet is the fact that Sabra still believed Isaac to be a saint going as far as to cover up his murder.
00:43:52
So a scuffle ensues and during this scuffle Sabra tries to break it up, right? [music]
00:43:58
Okay. And what happens to Sabra as she's trying to break this up? Uh she said she got trampled.
00:44:03
Who comes to run to her aid? [music] I have no clue. Okay. So, fair to say that you probably
00:44:11
blacked out or there's bits and pieces missing here? Yeah. So, Dalton comes running over because
00:44:17
his sister's now on the ground [music] and she has this tattoo, this is my brother's keeper, and they're they're
00:44:22
close, right? And he is screaming at you guys to knock the [ __ ] off because his
00:44:28
sister's now on the ground and Sabra's having some type of panic attack, [music]
00:44:33
right? She goes to get in the car and she's screaming at you at this point, right?
00:44:38
[music] Do you remember this? No. Okay. Is that when we start fighting on the hill?
00:44:45
Uh-huh. And what happens on that hill? Um [clears throat] on the hill, that's where I got pushed
00:44:52
down. Do you have injuries that would Yeah. collaborate you saying you got pushed
00:44:57
down? The scrapes on your side? Yeah, I have scrapes all over my side and I have a big knot right here where I
00:45:01
got hit. Okay. So, you get pushed down this hill and then what? Then I think we kept on going at it.
00:45:10
Who's we? Cuz we have about 20 or 22 people now that have been at this cabin. I don't even know their names.
00:45:17
I saw the video, somebody clearly shoved you in the front, uh which started the, you know, the
00:45:23
scuffle. That's about the only part I remember is getting pushed and then kind of gone from there until I got in
00:45:29
my car. And when you get in your car, what happens? That's where I think I grabbed a knife.
00:45:36
And I used it to pound on the door, I think. I'll tell you that I have a footprint
00:45:40
that tells me they were trying to close the door. Do you remember any of that? Yeah.
00:45:45
That's it. Okay. And where's Sabra? She was just sitting in the car. Did she get out of the car at any point?
00:45:51
I don't think so. Is she paying attention to what you're doing there or is she preoccupied
00:45:57
[music] with something? I think she was watching TikToks on her phone. Watching TikToks on her phone, knowing
00:46:04
her boyfriend just stabbed somebody. It's pretty normal behavior, right? I mean, hey, you went home and took a
00:46:12
nap. Like it was just another day in the park for you. I was too drunk and didn't really
00:46:18
remember when I got home. But not too drunk to drive. Not too drunk to dispose of the murder
00:46:24
weapon. Not too drunk to try and cover up your tracks. Did you know his name was Charlie?
00:46:31
Yeah. You never met Charlie before that, did you? So you grabbed Charlie by the neck and you
00:46:39
didn't stab Charlie two times. You stabbed Charlie six times. The side of his neck, right here on his
00:46:45
face, twice in his side, once in his back, and somewhere in between his head and his
00:46:51
neck. And you left. You left Charlie to lay there and bleed out on the ground. Charlie didn't die right away, but
00:47:00
Charlie, he died. He coded out in a trauma bay. He made it in an airplane to a hospital in
00:47:07
Columbus. Made it through the surgery and then he couldn't put his heart gave out.
00:47:15
And you know what? His kid isn't the only one left without a dad. Cuz Draco and Waylon aren't going to
00:47:20
have their dad either. They're not going to have their mom either. She went to jail today.
00:47:24
What she in there for? Complicity to murder. Cuz she knew and she didn't do anything
00:47:30
about it. And I turned your kids over to the state earlier this afternoon because the
00:47:35
living conditions in that house are deplorable as well. So, they're not going to have a mother
00:47:41
or a father. Does that change things for you? Yeah. Does that put some things into
00:47:47
perspective? Bet you weren't thinking about that when you threw the knife. All right.
00:47:54
Isaac, you're going to stand up, put your hands behind your back. At this time, you're
00:47:58
under arrest for murder. At this point, Isaac has nothing more to say, and the body cam concludes shortly
00:48:07
after. With so much evidence stacked against him and his girlfriend, the two were placed into custody as they awaited
00:48:13
their trial. A year later, on August 26th, 2024, Sabre Flag pled guilty to obstructing justice. This is a
00:48:22
fifth-degree felony that comes with a maximum of 12 months in prison and a $2,500 fine. As for Isaac Pence, he was
00:48:30
convicted of one count of murder, two counts of felonious assault, and one count of tampering with evidence. A
00:48:36
month later, on September 25th, he was finally sentenced to 18 years to life in prison, where he will not see the light
00:48:44
of day for a long, long time. If you're interested in watching our uncensored, extended, two-to-four-hour
