What I learned about myself is that you
00:00:01
can
00:00:03
you can do hard things basically.
00:00:05
>> The um very first Godzone, what did you
00:00:07
learn about yourself during that, if
00:00:08
anything?
00:00:09
>> Yeah, it was definitely a wake-up call.
00:00:12
Uh it was 8 and 1/2 days. We
00:00:16
we one of our teammates actually, he got
00:00:20
choppered off the mountain.
00:00:22
And yeah, it was that was crazy. We'd
00:00:26
never seen that before and we kind of
00:00:27
continued on as a
00:00:29
team of three and then one of our they
00:00:31
wanted four teenagers out there, so we
00:00:33
called in one of our mates to help us
00:00:35
finish the last stage and
00:00:38
yeah, I was my feet were in serious
00:00:44
like I've never
00:00:46
actually no, I have been in that much
00:00:47
pain before, but at that moment that was
00:00:49
the most pain I'd ever been in in my
00:00:51
life and I remember coming to the last
00:00:55
stage and we had a 21k beach trail run,
00:00:59
but
00:01:00
I remember loading myself up with
00:01:02
painkillers and
00:01:04
there's a video of me um one of cuz this
00:01:07
race was supported
00:01:10
and Andy uh our support crew, he put my
00:01:13
shoes on for me because I couldn't put
00:01:15
my own shoes on and there was uh
00:01:19
tears dripping down my face because
00:01:20
putting shoes on was like the most
00:01:23
severe pain I could ever imagine and my
00:01:25
mom and my dad were watching Andy put
00:01:28
shoes on me and I was I mean we were
00:01:30
just gripping. I was sitting on a seat I
00:01:32
just remember gripping the seat because
00:01:34
putting shoes on was just so so so
00:01:36
painful and I just looked at mom and she
00:01:39
was just like crying cuz she was like
00:01:42
she's watching her daughter in that much
00:01:45
pain having to go do a
00:01:48
the final stage of the Godzone and
00:01:51
I crossed the finish line we ran it.
00:01:53
What I learned about myself is that you
00:01:55
can
00:01:56
you can do hard things, basically. And I
00:01:59
got to the end of that race, and sure
00:02:01
enough 1 second later, I wanted to sign
00:02:04
up for the next year. You definitely
00:02:05
learn that
00:02:07
you can push beyond what you think you
00:02:10
can. And I feel like that's
00:02:12
yeah, something that adventure racing
00:02:14
definitely helps you to
