what is up people of the internet welcome back to another episode of the waveform podcast we're your hosts I'm
00:00:11
Marquez I'm Andrew and I'm David and we are back to you regularly scheduled programming of course we're still going
00:00:16
to have more guest episodes but last week we talked to Simone yet it was super fun check it out if you haven't
00:00:21
seen it already this week we've got a lot to talk about we've got the new Moto Razer which I think is really
00:00:27
interesting the Razer plus actually uh a new AI image generating camera I haven't
00:00:33
seen this but I'm very curious uh also WWDC is around the corner by the time you listen to this it might be happening
00:00:39
already but we also are going to wrap it up with a Q&A so we got a lot to get to I think first though we should start
00:00:44
with uh Ford Ford made some moves they did actually just one move yeah they
00:00:51
made one move a couple of moves yeah yeah one one move that has a couple moves inside of the singular move they
00:00:58
collabed they collabed yeah basically Ford did a collab it's like a multi-movement movement sure a compound
00:01:04
movement compound a compound movement so Tesla and Ford have collaborated
00:01:09
basically what's happening is Ford has realized that Tesla superchargers are really really good and instead of
00:01:16
contributing to a public network or building their own network what they're doing is making their cars able to
00:01:23
charge on as many Tesla supercharges as possible via several movements one of
00:01:28
those movements is by enabling them in Ford pass so you get an adapter
00:01:34
theoretically I believe and in Ford pass you'll be able to pull up to any number of the enabled I think thousands of
00:01:40
superchargers when this starts to go live and plug in your Ford EV at a Tesla Supercharger the other move which I
00:01:47
think is actually way more interesting is starting in 2025 all of Ford's new shipping EVS will
00:01:56
have the nacs connector for those who don't know that's the North American
00:02:01
charging standard I believe it's called but that's the connector that all of Teslas use in North America it's
00:02:07
basically the charging port from a Tesla Tesla Chargers yeah so all of the Mach e
00:02:12
and F-150 lightnings and whatever other reviews they're making at that point starting in 2025 will all have the Tesla
00:02:19
connector and they'll be able to plug into a supercharger with no adapter Max speeds I assume if you have an adapter
00:02:24
you're limiting your speeds that's a pretty big shift that's one way of addressing our customers really need
00:02:30
more Chargers how do we how do we feel about this one this just reminds me of this XKCD comic if you've seen this one
00:02:36
um I will read it to the audience That's a classic situation there are four competing standards 14 that's ridiculous
00:02:43
we need to develop one universal standard that covers everyone's use cases yeah soon situation there are 15
00:02:51
competing standards this happens a lot yeah in it's it's kind of interesting though because in EV world there's
00:02:56
really two ports 2.5 if you want to call it yeah so but but the big ones are ccs and
00:03:04
nacs and it depends on kind of where you live what you'll see a lot if you live in Europe you basically only see CCS
00:03:11
Teslas all have CCS Etc in North America in order to use a Tesla Supercharger you
00:03:16
must be driving a Tesla which uses a different port than all of the rest of the cars in North America bunch of other
00:03:22
cars using CCS just Teslas use nacs and so yeah so Ford's like yeah we kind of
00:03:29
just want to jump on this uh supercharger Network I'm sure some money exchanged hands I don't know the details of how this worked out but this collab I
00:03:36
think is a win for Ford EV buyers 100% it's a win for Ford because it makes all
00:03:42
of their EVS much more compelling I think the mai is about as close to a model y equivalent as you could possibly
00:03:50
get at this point and F-150 Lightning now is way more Road triable like I
00:03:56
could happily road trip being able to Tesla super charge uh in an F-150
00:04:02
Lightning so yeah that's a win as far as they're concerned I think you can only consider it an L if you are a Tesla
00:04:08
driver who's already experiencing really high weight times or busy superchargers that's about it that's the
00:04:15
only thing like that's the only downside I see of this is like I will wait for the day when people are going to be like
00:04:21
I'm mad at Tesla because now all these other cars are at my charger and I'm waiting in long lines I think on the East Coast that's not that big of an
00:04:27
issue on the west coast there are some like pretty long weights but like overall this is a huge win I also think
00:04:33
it is really cool cuz I the main announcement was like 2025 Ford adapting
00:04:39
nacs but they said within next year or as early as next year 12,000
00:04:44
superchargers in US and Canada will have the software integration to allow all the F Ford cars and I'm assuming we get
00:04:51
an adapter at that point yeah so 12,000 I and I just wonder here anything before
00:04:57
next year mhm will Ford sell the adapter to these people I'm sure they'll have some sort of uh software update cuz
00:05:04
there's no way they're going to leave behind the 2022 2023 machis and 150s
00:05:09
yeah I think all those people get this update as well yeah 12,000 it was funny because when we did that video charging the rivan on the Tesla super charger it
00:05:16
was one of like five Chargers in the US that got enabled with this Doc and you have to have the Tesla app and have a
00:05:23
you use the adapter but yeah this is specifically like all right you've got the Ford it will work yeah that's pretty
00:05:29
I have mixed feelings about this um as someone who personally experienced the Terrors of CCS road tripping in the Mach
00:05:37
E from Ford yeah that's right it was the Mak um and got not enough sleep because of it that's sounds great I mean if we
00:05:44
had done this road trip and araki had the Tesla Supercharger we probably would have gotten there at about the same time
00:05:50
as you guys yeah uh if you guys haven't seen that it's on the studio Channel It's called The
00:05:56
th I think ours might have just been like road trip Vlog for Studio we did a road trip between a long range gas car
00:06:02
the longest range Tesla and the longest range uh non Tesla at the time which was
00:06:07
the mocky Brandon and I got there 13 hours later um
00:06:13
anyway yeah I feel mixed on this because it's great that supercharger network is already massive but the US in general is
00:06:20
also spending tons of money to expand ccs and there's been such a long period
00:06:26
of time when everyone's been trying to decide okay what is the standard what is the standard what is the standard because if you go to a gas station sure
00:06:34
there's like diesel whatever whatever but it's all the same type of pump it doesn't really matter like what's on the
00:06:40
inside as long as the connector is the same that's all that really matters and
00:06:45
having these two competing ones is kind of weird now because Ford you know makes the most popular car in the in the US
00:06:52
like the F-150 right yep so if you have like Tesla and Ford that have the Tesla
00:06:59
charger and then you have everyone else on CCS it's just gonna like create this awkward separation and then there's the
00:07:06
whole thing where in the EU Tesla has to use CCS so it just it just feels like a
00:07:12
standards mess and I was kind of hoping just that Tesla eventually just switched
00:07:17
back o switched back switched to ccs and retrofitted all of its superchargers
00:07:23
with magic adapters here's the thing about that the nacs connector is better
00:07:30
and that's the obv it's so much smaller much faster thin cable super fast and
00:07:36
like they've built the whole network they spent all those billions of dollars in the US to like optimize this we've got 250 kilowatt Chargers and that thin
00:07:43
cable plugging it right in uh and that's so well done in the US that the only
00:07:48
reason they do it in Europe is because they had to they I'm sure they would love to also do nacs everywhere so do
00:07:54
you know why like I know that Elon was trying to make nacs the standard and it
00:07:59
just didn't do you know why it didn't happen I I don't know exactly i' have to look up the details but I'm pretty sure
00:08:04
they were forced to use CCS cuz it was called nacs can't use that Europe use
00:08:10
that Europe well even in the US right like the um Biden Administration just put like a ton of money into developing
00:08:17
chargers throughout the United States but I'm pretty sure it's mostly CCS Chargers CC well it had to be I believe
00:08:24
in that bill it had to the charging Network had to be able to use more than a single company
00:08:30
worth of electric vehicles which I think is why we saw that push to the what are we what's the like magic adapter or
00:08:36
whatever like do the magic dock so like this feels like maybe potentially one part of that I I do think one thing here
00:08:43
that's a little different and not as bad in terms of Standards is like Teslas all come with an adapter for CCS no matter
00:08:49
what right no they did until 2020 now they charge you they charge you it
00:08:55
doesn't come with it anymore well I guess we're going to turn into this point of are you going to start getting getting charged for that or is it going
00:09:00
to come with your car because it does seem like the software enabling is what was blocking CCS from using or non-
00:09:07
Tesla Chargers from like having some sort of an adapter like I don't think there was any hardware difficulties of
00:09:13
creating the adapter I'm sure someone could have done it but software was limiting it I don't think adapting both
00:09:19
ways is going to be that hard and like if we see this magic doc they're obviously opening it up for more people
00:09:25
so that will be open for other sides and then also Ford and Teslas can still go use uh Electrify America or any of those
00:09:32
as well yeah I guess I'm just worried about my mom you know how is my mom going to know what to do I mean you're
00:09:39
not wrong yeah yeah it's totally fair that's my main concern so I hope they make it really easy like with the rivan
00:09:45
they gave us software update so now you can see compatible Chargers and they include the Tesla superchargers but
00:09:51
there's still a process of like well you have to have the Tesla app and a Tesla account and then enable it and the Tesla
00:09:56
all that stuff yeah um ideally they make this easy with software but that's not really up to them so we'll see wait did
00:10:04
you guys see what did you guys see what Faraday future announced yes we did we all had fun it very quickly but yeah
00:10:12
okay the one 2017 is the first time I ever saw a faraday future vehicle I made
00:10:20
a video about it at CES so this is like J this is like six and a half years ago can I throw like an anecdote in there to
00:10:26
how long ago that was when I when Marquez offered me the job or said we should think about working here you were
00:10:32
at the CES where you so like before I started working here I showed your faad a video to people I was telling I who I
00:10:39
was going to work for yeah so there was no team it was just like and even at
00:10:46
this point there was some hype so like Faraday had been building hype before this and it was all the way until 2017
00:10:51
when we first got to see it and I remember when I was there they had the classic never going to ship a vehicle
00:10:56
setup it was one engine in Sample with an unfinished interior and one finished
00:11:03
vehicle that doesn't drive yeah and so if you can just imagine them as one vehicle yeah this is going to ship
00:11:09
sometime soon right so I made the video I enjoyed it it was nice and quick and Zippy and they were like yeah this is going to be a great thing so Faraday
00:11:14
future pretty great name because fast forward what six years now into the future um they still haven't shipped any
00:11:21
and they keep insisting that they're going to ship some and I've seen so many different versions of them going okay
00:11:27
now we're going to ship MH this is the first interesting one because they're putting up a configurator and there's a
00:11:34
price tag and some specs so let me just go through mean anything it does did you
00:11:39
see Electric's headline for this I think it could not describe it better it says Faraday Futures start shipping ff91 with
00:11:46
many buzzwords and a $39,000 price y they shouldn't have said ship they shouldn't have said shipping
00:11:53
they haven't they're they plan on shipping just like they've always planned on shipping I trust me farad I hear you saying you're planning on
00:11:59
shipping but you're going to have to now ship uh to people who will actually pay this price so as you heard base price Faraday
00:12:06
future ff91
00:12:12
$39,000 I'll just let that sck in sink in for a second for a completely
00:12:17
unrusted untested for company CCS that isn't the base price that's the limited
00:12:23
edition price the new base price that H will come out later is $250,000
00:12:29
I'm sorry dare I apologize this is just affility way totally different
00:12:34
Stratosphere here are the specs for the $39,000 uh brand new whatever it's
00:12:40
called why the $9,000 not just $2999 it's like sometimes when you make the price a little bit different it means more like
00:12:47
it it feels more like there's a reason for that like well we had like we just couldn't cut any more cost we need to
00:12:53
add that 9,000,000 if it was 299 you'd be like I could 200 this company might not exist if they just charge 300
00:12:59
exactly this is this is what you get so that it's like a s of a crossover think
00:13:05
of what is this like an eqs type of shape like a big eqe maybe it's weird
00:13:10
looking it's a crossover SUV type thing two rows though uh sporty it's got a
00:13:16
2.27 second 0 to 60 155 mph top speed so that reminds me of like a performance
00:13:22
model y probably a plaid model model plaid model X I guess 381 mile range
00:13:29
they're going to make 300 of them for this launch version uh 22in Wheels
00:13:34
triple Motors 1,50 horsepower and 142 Kow hour battery so anybody in anybody in 300
00:13:44
globally yeah yeah yeah which is fine because like maybe they'll make a whole bunch maybe they'll actually manufacture
00:13:50
a whole bunch more of the $250,000 spec but this is the no the launch the launch version um I just
00:13:57
don't know how they're gonna get anyone to buy yeah I don't know there was a a cool tidbit
00:14:04
in the electric article that said um when they first announced in 2017 they had 64,000 res reservations after the
00:14:10
first 36 hours and then like a year or two ago they checked back in and they had 14,000 unpaid reservations and 400
00:14:18
paid reservations mhm was there a guy that was before this price tag also was there a guy that either tweeted at one
00:14:23
of us or emailed one of us saying hey just wondering if you want to buy my Faraday future reservation I already
00:14:30
paid for it it's $50,000 someone generously offered their spot in line if I would just pay the 50 Grand that they
00:14:36
paid yeah yeah no I also want to note that they they like is this a leaked
00:14:42
investor deck or like what is this deck that you posted it basically shows like
00:14:47
how they've been going along for the last six years oh this is on their website that's on their website I think
00:14:53
that's just like straight up fire Futures website it's like their legacy or whatever and I just want to I just
00:14:59
want to read this 2018 amid the thick fog of adversity we remain steadfast on
00:15:04
our path 2019 amid the lowest of lows we thrived in Desperate Times 2020 during
00:15:12
the dark moments the light of faith never faded away we did nothing it's not a phase
00:15:19
Mom it's like we did nothing for three plus years um also funny enough uh we
00:15:25
lost money for three plus years basically a lot of money and trying to convince investors that they
00:15:31
have money or that they're actually going to make something also funny enough I think that that Faraday future
00:15:36
event where they that you were just describing was my first CES event and my
00:15:42
first CES and I remember being there and being like wow this is really cool this
00:15:47
is really futurist I knew nothing about EVS I was like well I'm here for the birth of a new company yeah and then
00:15:53
yeah no it's situation there is a 27 in screen in the back remember the uh
00:15:59
remember the 30-in screen in the back of the BMW so it's kind of like kind of like that well it would be if it was
00:16:06
real that's a fantastic point I have a 75 in screen in the back of my
00:16:13
shipping sometime soon all right what else we so we wanted to talk about the razor right yeah yeah the Razer plus I
00:16:19
think is the more interesting one but there's a Razer and a razor plus by the time you see the podcast the video's out
00:16:24
I got Hands-On with the razor plus I just think it finally feels like the beginning of like the second movement of
00:16:31
us trying some new things this could be totally wrong and maybe it turns out to not be a real thing but what they did
00:16:37
with the Razer plus was huge screen on the outside love it basically the entire
00:16:42
not the entire thing it kind of% it's a good amount of the outside around the cameras around the cameras
00:16:48
and everything so the hinge is like obviously still hinge but everything else big screen and uh you can do a lot
00:16:54
on the outside screen can what's the screen to front ratio I think it's like 80% they actually that they might really
00:17:02
basically looks like the whole front except the very top has a little bezel where I assuming they're putting the digitizers and stuff yeah and the hinge
00:17:09
and everything yes so you can do basically everything that you could
00:17:14
normally do on a phone there's the settings page where you can be like I want this app to be able to use the outside screen and then you click it and
00:17:21
you open it up on the outside screen and it just squashes whatever app you picked into that little outside screen fine
00:17:27
there's also a a keyboard you can type entire messages and use the browser on
00:17:33
the outside screen and do all these things I think on a flip like this you probably don't actually want to do all
00:17:40
that much stuff on the outside screen like that's why you bought a flip right you wanted to have it be like a barrier
00:17:48
you know so they have to open it to use it and then close it but this one is it does literally every there's games on
00:17:53
the outside screen I mean I want a flipping phone as an adult fidget spinner and nothing else I wouldn't do
00:18:00
that with a folding screen that sounds like a great way to open that thing way too many times don't tell me what to do with my money just do whatever you want
00:18:06
I like this idea a lot I think um this is definitely a precursor to at least the leaks of the Galaxy Z flip 5 it is
00:18:14
supposed to look a lot like this yep um this has sort of been the dream for me since the I guess we can call it the
00:18:21
hamburger style flipping flip phone started shipping right um because the first Z flip had just like that tiny
00:18:28
little time and it basically was like not a display um but this one's amazing because I I would actually like being
00:18:35
able to manipulate notifications and actually reply to things really quickly and not just I think previous flip
00:18:42
phones like this you had to use like pre pre typed out replies you couldn't
00:18:47
actually type your own reply or anything like that almost like on your watch like how it's easier to just do like yeah and like the whole idea of that style flip
00:18:54
phone for me is like a lot of the stuff that you're going to do on your phone is just a quick glanceable thing that you
00:19:00
maybe need to interact with a little bit and then you can open it up if you need to and a lot of Android 13 and 14 the
00:19:07
idea is that you're supposed to be able to do stuff on the smaller screens but then when you unfold it it contextually
00:19:14
expands the information yes and this feels like the first big step in doing that with this form factor like the Z
00:19:21
fold has been doing that for a while the big one the the hot dog ones I've been doing that yeah this one literally you
00:19:27
could like you could have Google Maps open close it and follow the map directions on the outside screen like
00:19:32
all the stuff works I think it still does though you said it feels like you can be do too much on it therefore like
00:19:39
if you're buying a flip you want to avoid that I think it still does sort of do that while just letting you do things
00:19:45
without having it's almost the opposite of like you're not going to interact with that unless maybe like a text message comes up and then you can be
00:19:51
like oh I can respond to this or I can quickly do this there rather than oh now I have to flip my phone open in order to
00:19:58
respond to this and therefore once my phone's flipped open I've opened Pandora's Box and now I'm 12 hours into
00:20:04
a Tik Tok session the thing is you could get into a 12-hour Tik Tok session on the outs screen I think it's still like
00:20:10
still not quite right so like you can do your things kind of quickly without having to open it up and then you're
00:20:17
still kind of not quite diving head first into it you're just dipping your
00:20:22
toes in the the screen time pool in there can't get fully immersed is it called the motor Razer 40 Ultra cuz that
00:20:29
was the leaked specs it is not it's just called the razor plus okay so they also have a regular razor that's a a tiny
00:20:36
little postage stamp outside screen with just the time or whatever we don't have a price tag on it yet we're all assuming this is going to be the first like truly
00:20:42
affordable flipping folding phone or the cheaper one so it's going to be the same size it's going to have 144 Herz inside
00:20:50
screen uh which by the way the plus has 165 HZ inside screen they're going to
00:20:56
have a uh the same same exact set of cameras it actually gets a larger battery because the smaller screen means
00:21:03
more room for battery there's a smaller outside screen on the yeah like a tiny little itty bitty the old razor one and
00:21:10
uh it has a Snapdragon 7 gen one so it's like a little bit of a bump down I think it's a 128 gig starting storage instead
00:21:16
of 256 and that phone I'm assuming is going to be this is a total guess $6.99
00:21:22
to $7.99 that would be epic which would be pretty sweet for a folding phone we don't really get folding phones underneath a th000 too much but the
00:21:28
Razer plus is the one that's going to be obviously competing with whatever Samsung puts out flip 5 uh I am I'm
00:21:35
fascinated by it I think the big question is going to be battery life for the phone cuz didn't they have to make the battery smaller to be able to do the
00:21:41
larger screen on the front so it's a 3,800 now yeah and then it's also a pretty tall display like 21 by9 or
00:21:48
something 3,800 M 22 by oh wow jeez okay yeah um but Motorola is like one of the
00:21:56
few us companies that is actually doing like true fast charging like I what is
00:22:01
the charging speed on this this is 30 Watts but I'll also mention something oh maybe I'm wrong the Razer third gen
00:22:07
Razer had a notoriously disappointing battery life yeah that was a it was a
00:22:13
thinner phone and it had a 2800 mAh battery okay so this one bumps all the way up to 3,800 it obviously gets a much
00:22:20
larger outside screen but maybe battery life won't suck as much yeah hopefully
00:22:26
can I also just for audio listeners I realize we didn't say this previously but like when we talk about full front
00:22:31
screen I mean like wraps around the cameras like the cameras are included inside of the screen like I feel like it
00:22:38
it just it really is basically the entire front of it and it's really cool
00:22:44
seeing like wrapping around the cameras if you watch our video on it there's like a game they have pre-installed on
00:22:49
the phone where you kind of like move these balls around with the gyroscope and they fall into the cameras and those
00:22:54
are little holes that you want to fall into it's just gimmicky but yeah it's like the Zelda uh like shrines that you
00:23:01
go like where you had to use your switch to like balance it pure gimmick fun Tech demo hilarious use of the space I will
00:23:08
also just say when Lenovo bought Motorola um Mobility I was extremely
00:23:13
nervous because motor uh Lenovo is just kind of one of those companies that makes a lot of random prototype stuff
00:23:19
but either doesn't ship it or makes it really badly but they've actually been trying a lot of really weird fun stuff
00:23:26
recently especially around the display segment with that like dual screen laptop oh yeah they did the tall yeah
00:23:32
the double screened laptop with the keyboard thing and then there's this like nobody else is really pushing the
00:23:37
boundaries of like the hamburger style foldable right now except for basically
00:23:44
Samsung but because Samsung didn't have very much competition it's been I those
00:23:49
phones have looked the same for the last like three years yeah they kind shed yeah so it's good to see somebody else pushing into that space and I would love
00:23:55
to have a return of Motorola in the US that' be awesome except beyond the
00:24:01
really cheap budget segment they dominate prepaid yeah but this real,
00:24:06
phone you guys want to blast in the past I have all this information in front of me because of a unrelated T trivia
00:24:13
search but when you guys talking about Razer battery life the Razer V3 do you
00:24:18
want to guess how many milliamp hours that thing had that was like still the original flipping phone that blew up
00:24:24
that sold like Millions I think that might have been the V2 this might have been the one after it the milliamp hour
00:24:30
size yeah so we're talking we're talking about like modern ones upgrading from like 28 to like 3,000 is that what you
00:24:37
said 2,800 to 3,800 yeah I'm going to say that that had a 480 Mah hour battery
00:24:44
this is still like dumb phone like like 10 plus years ago I think I was in high
00:24:50
school when that came out my only 2004 yeah I'm guessing like 260 yeah also
00:24:56
this is exhibition round no trivia points are being fourth grade it's uh 680 milliamp hours
00:25:03
nice so we've really come a long way 3200 million and it and it lasted for two
00:25:09
weeks the irony of it all it's incredible I mean had a pretty small inside screen so I guess that's not
00:25:16
crazy yeah my context was I remember the the Motorola Jade had a 1400 mlia
00:25:21
battery damn thank you to uh GSM Arena for keeping this page up so
00:25:26
I I didn't know they that part they have everything yeah the mod days go back
00:25:32
real far Good Times Razer V3 all right what is this AI geoca camera can someone
00:25:38
explain this yes what is this okay um a lot of people were tweeting this saying
00:25:44
this is this like a lot of people are tweeting saying this is the stupidest thing I've ever seen but David's been waiting all week to talk about it I
00:25:51
think I sent it to you you did yeah yeah yeah you tagged me in slack you were much more enthusiastic about it than I
00:25:56
expected it okay it's not a product that anyone would ever use it's a it's basically a toy so the idea is it looks
00:26:04
like a camera you carry it around with you and it has a GPS in it let also when
00:26:09
we say looks like a camera so like camera body but then rather than a lens it's like a like I think that's an
00:26:16
antenna yeah I think it's multiple antennas similar to like a Vive controller where they use that for like position tracking so yeah sorry I want
00:26:23
it like but it's pink and it's like coming out of the front of a camera it looks insane so it has it has basically
00:26:29
a thing on the back that is effectively Mad Libs right do you know Mad Libs yeah you just fill in you fill in blanks says
00:26:37
verb noun I'm at this geolocation the weather is this and there is like some
00:26:44
grass Beyond me or something like that and then basically there's a screen on the back that has a prompt for an AI
00:26:50
image generator and because it has all of this information from like Google Maps and like all of this like image
00:26:56
data for what that Place generally looks like and then also you're explaining the
00:27:01
conditions of what the place is now well I think it's using GPS in the internet to understand the the weather conditions
00:27:08
as well like I think that's part of so what are you putting in I think you're shut butt so I think cuz you said this
00:27:14
is basically linked to a website correct that's like a prompt yeah you can go on this guy so his website is currently
00:27:20
down because too many people are are looking at it um but you just put in a little bit of information like the
00:27:25
Madlibs information like you say it's midday I'm here it's partly cloudy what are the so I think what this actually is
00:27:32
is because of the GPS and the things is when you click that shutter button it's autofilling in the adlibs because it can
00:27:39
tell through the antennas like I am in this coordinate I'm facing this way it is this time this is what the weather
00:27:44
for this area is and so then the knobs basically just change like how far away from it you are meters I don't know what
00:27:51
seed means is like um like when you're clicking it it's generating images but seed one would be like the first batch
00:27:57
that it SE would be a separate batch Oh I thought seed was the seed they use for
00:28:03
the noise um that when they diffuse the information through
00:28:09
it I don't think so cuz only one seed would be like really
00:28:15
noisy no no like like you know how you you have different seeds to create different noises yeah like you use that
00:28:20
seed to create the initial noise map that you then diffuse through that may be true regardless sorry sorry no it's
00:28:29
okay it's a it's like a camera that looks like it has a crab strap to the front and that's actually very ACC it's
00:28:35
making all of these images and there's examples on Twitter we'll link this in the show notes um the images that it
00:28:41
generates are much prettier than the actual places that this guy is taking photos of oh my God uh everyone on the
00:28:48
Internet is like this is so stupid what is society becoming and it's like guys nobody is taking this seriously it's an
00:28:54
experimental fun thing like just let it it be fun I see this way more as like
00:29:00
this is using generative AI like creating photos but like he created this
00:29:06
cool thing to basically autop plug in the prompt of it to be like in an area
00:29:11
and then oh it's kind of like I have a camera so but it is cool because you it automatically plugs The Prompt in you
00:29:17
take the picture and then it generates on this like weird little 3D camera thing he printed and like he looks at it
00:29:23
and looks at the thing in front of him and it's right some of them some of them are L close yeah it's usually just like
00:29:29
a much prettier version of the thing he's currently standing because it doesn't have like a million people and
00:29:35
like everything's like looks nice and you want a camera for again I yeah but
00:29:41
it's not trying to be an actual camera it's like it's like a it's just a yeah what can we do with our the current
00:29:47
technology that just got invented a year ago it's just hilarious to put it in the body of a camera with a shutter button I
00:29:52
think it's amazing I was just going to say I think if it didn't have like the camera body around it it would be a cool
00:29:59
thing but because it's a camera everyone's freaking out I think that's what makes it fun like he tried something different I with you guys I
00:30:04
think we're so used to engineers and technologists inventing a thing and then being like I'm going to shove this down
00:30:11
everyone's throats until everyone's using it that now it's like when someone invents something we're like get that away from my throat you know literally
00:30:17
it's like it's it's a little fu toy it's like an art it's almost like an art like a yeah like an Art Exhibit a modern art
00:30:25
I could see this in the MoMA just being like per stra to the wall and then there's like a display in front of it
00:30:31
that displays different places and then it shows the thing and then it justes and in that art like the AI is part of
00:30:38
it like it's not replacing normal photography and stuff like this like this entire thing is a project within
00:30:44
itself and therefore like it's it's fun it's like a benevolent Michael Reeves video kind of yeah no yeah if you made a
00:30:51
video on like making this it would blow up on the it be for sure should I would love to get one of these and it um by
00:30:58
the time you listen to this hopefully the guy's website will be back up it got hugged to death and it's been down for
00:31:04
over a day I just retweeted it so it's probably it's already Ian it's down for
00:31:09
sure yeah sorry about that um but the cool thing is on his website you you don't actually need the device you can
00:31:15
put in the parameters yourself and it'll generate images for you that's great so you can kind of play with it uh
00:31:21
hopefully that's back up to Bjorn Carmen I'm sorry that everything is falling
00:31:26
apart for you right now but I have one your invention is very cool I I would love one if you listen to this podcast
00:31:32
listen to me listen to me we'll make a studio I'll give you the the studios GPS coordinates and then you just put it one
00:31:38
in the mail and we'll make a video about it yeah so anyway everything it's autofilling in I think can be figured
00:31:44
out just by the positioning of the camera when the shutter B's hit so I yeah that's really cool I think the
00:31:50
reason there's discourse around it is because there's a lot of really disruptive discourse around AI Imaging
00:31:55
and AI art right now and everyone's using used to being angry and also and somebody is making something around it
00:32:02
that is doing the same thing but with the intention of not being serious and people don't really know how to react to
00:32:08
that as I'm scrolling through just his tweet says thank you all for the amazing feedback there are a lot of questions so
00:32:14
I'll clarify this is a passion art project no intention of making a product or challenging photography rather a
00:32:20
question of the role of AI in time of creative tension nobody assumes that this that people are going to like take
00:32:26
photos with this and pass it off as their that's what like people are probably
00:32:31
getting there are probably some people that will say that the same making a photograph yeah that's what I was going
00:32:38
to say the other half of this is like remember we just had IO and it's like you took a photo and then it's like ah
00:32:43
this photo is nice but how about if it was a different photo and the sky was brighter and the bag was gone and she
00:32:49
was 2 MERS over so she had the waterfall in her hands you're kind of not it really make that photo this get pushed
00:32:56
into like the Google camera app then we start worrying yeah then but yeah Google
00:33:01
could easily make this experiment they could way too easily you go somewhere your camera's broken and your phone's
00:33:07
just kind of like yeah but I know what the Niagara Falls waterfall looks like and you just kind of give them a photo of the waterfall that's it it's a fun
00:33:13
art project um I just thought it was cute and I thank you for showing that to me because it's very cool that's amazing
00:33:19
all right we should take a quick break uh we'll do some trivia and come back we got a lot more to talk about but first
00:33:26
questions trivia [Music] so yes T last was it that loud last time
00:33:33
or my headphones no we we raced it up just to mess with you nice okay in 2005
00:33:39
Motorola launched the Razer v3i adopting the I to Signal a collaboration with
00:33:44
apple what Apple software did the phone have built in yeah I remember that I
00:33:49
don't dang Final Cut Pro don't give them ideas we'll be right
00:33:57
back [Music]
00:34:07
all right welcome back let's talk about next week a little bit just briefly we can we can sort of speculate about WWDC
00:34:14
we're in the midst of well we're about to be in the midst of one of the bigger uh WWDC in a while for those who are
00:34:21
somehow watching this podcast but don't already know WWDC is the worldwide
00:34:27
developer conference it is Apple's annual developer conference but they also typically have a keynote for the
00:34:33
world where they go over all of the new stuff for developers now what's important for developers well new
00:34:40
software and new operating systems so we'll get new iOS new watch OS new iPad
00:34:47
OS new Mac OS and if there happens to be any new platform that starts up we
00:34:53
should of course make a new name for that new OS and get developed in to make
00:34:58
stuff for that too that's what WWDC is usually we get some cool stuff uh in the
00:35:04
software Department not too much Hardware occasionally I think the Mac Pro was originally announced at WWDC
00:35:12
they said it's coming later in the year but you know this a good developing tool a good machine for developers so it was cool that it showed up there but it's
00:35:18
not like we're getting a new iPhone or anything yeah should be pretty quiet right they announced M1 as a concept at WWDC yeah they said we're going to do
00:35:24
Apple silicon and there's a developer kit where we B basically took an Intel Mac Mini and put an apple like an a15 in
00:35:30
there so if you guys want to develop for that platform this is a good time to start so anytime you get new stuff WWDC
00:35:37
that's where you see the new stuff this T this time uh we are expecting a lot of
00:35:43
new stuff oh yeah you've heard about the rumors uh I think the big one sort of looming on the horizon is what Swift the
00:35:51
updates Swift directories let's go baby probably be there every single year now
00:35:57
we we're all like sort of waiting for Apple's headset is it a VR headset is it an AR headset what is it going to be
00:36:04
called what is the OS going to be called The Late isn't the latest rumor like reality OS and like reality
00:36:11
Pro XR o is the new one okay X Ross we keep getting you know but reality Pro is
00:36:17
apparently the name of the headset I think that's a crazy name what is it I miss reality Pro reality Pro but that's
00:36:23
also like if it's called reality Pro that leaves room for like a lower-end reality yeah yeah that's just
00:36:32
reality yeah yeah so that's a thing no there's going to have to be if you're going to ship a headset later Apple you
00:36:37
need to get developers to make software and things for said headset so WWDC is the place to introduce that concept of
00:36:44
the world that's the sort of headlining thing we're expecting to happen headlining headlining headliner that's a
00:36:50
pun um I hope if they don't use that I'll walk off we just all get up and
00:36:57
leave just peace out should have said headliner uh yeah we got we got some
00:37:02
expected potential things like we have other AR headsets that do interesting things um this one maybe Iris scanning
00:37:11
maybe facial recognition sensors the easiest way to say this is it just sounds like the meta Quest Pro
00:37:17
but Apple like think of everything The Meta Quest Pro does and that's basically what they're saying it's got a it's got
00:37:23
a apple silicon chip inside but the thing that the meta Quest Pro does not have is an app ecosystem and something
00:37:31
that uh Apple is going to be doing at WDC theoretically is they're going to be
00:37:36
an um shipping and giving developers a really really easy way to translate iPad
00:37:43
OS and iOS apps to reality Os or xross or whatever they call it so basically
00:37:49
like they're probably not going to ship it right away right like they announced M1 there and then they shipped it in
00:37:54
November so there's this huge like lead time they're probably ship developers these devices and then they're going to
00:37:59
give them like a translator to be able to reexport their apps in reality Os or
00:38:06
xross format manipulate a little bit to make it easier to use and then all of a sudden when you actually buy one of
00:38:13
these headsets you have all the apps that you already use but then you can just use them in XR which is very cool
00:38:18
which sweet for sure very interesting that's how that's the Apple Advantage right they're a giant company with an incredibly vibrant massive developer
00:38:25
Community they have the biggest App Store in the world like if you can if any company can get these headsets to be
00:38:30
a real mainstream thing seems like it's Apple yeah so that's why everyone's sort of waiting to see what they do is it
00:38:36
rushed is it finished is it the true apple way we're about to find out M um there's one rumor here I want to see
00:38:43
what you guys think and it it like seems very minor but I feel like uh I think
00:38:48
people might think differently of it external battery pack connected with a wire m to me that just does not seem
00:38:54
like a polished Apple thing want it to be as light as possible because having
00:39:00
heavy headsets on for long periods of time is really tired well there's the reasoning they'll say on stage for it
00:39:06
just still does not feel apple one product kind they can make the iPod
00:39:11
commercial again with the dancing people with the wire coming down that but to the back are back wires are back baby
00:39:20
it's cool now to have a wire it's going to be a bright white cable too so you're on the train everybody sees that wire
00:39:25
they're like it's not the fact that you're wearing a headset that they know that you have the newest thing they missed that but the
00:39:33
wire the wire that guy's got it down to the wire yeah do we think what do we think are they going to ship something
00:39:38
like immediately or is this going to be like a announce a developer kit headset and nobody gets to buy this one I think
00:39:44
they're going to sell it for a very high price I think the last rumor was basically like next year or the year
00:39:51
after will be the non-pro like consumer version that's a little bit smaller a little bit lighter reality but this
00:39:57
version is definitely like they're going to make it past the point where anyone can afford it just because it's mostly
00:40:04
going to be like this is the first round where we build out the ecosystem and get people learning how to use it and then
00:40:10
when the consumer version drops it'll compete with like it'll be probably still more expensive than the quest Pro and that kind of stuff but it'll be more
00:40:17
reachable do you guys remember magic leap that like AR headset that sold as like it was like magically developer
00:40:23
option um I forget if it actually did fully come out as like the cons consumer version but like that's what I'm
00:40:29
thinking of in this which also makes me wonder is this going to be sold in stores I think Patrick leap was sold in like Verizon stores for a little bit did
00:40:35
they ever sell that it was it was it was like the developer version of it which
00:40:41
is still weird which I feel like that's what this is going to feel like but I wouldn't be surprised if you see it in an Apple store with an insane price tag
00:40:47
and non-developers are going to buy it anyways understanding like I'm paying a ton of money for something that's
00:40:53
probably not fully worth that yet you can buy the mat too but you need to buy
00:40:59
it for commercial purposes in commercial quantities and have a team of developers
00:41:04
who are going to develop for your internal use of it yeah yeah I believe I
00:41:10
think the first one cuz I thought we you were got got us the first one yes weird
00:41:16
but this is more like very strange Audi just bought a big thing of magic leap twos to develop Huds makes total sense
00:41:22
yeah yeah no I mean it's C It's Curious this is this is gonna be the first uh yeah the first big new arvr headset in a
00:41:29
while um what if all of wwc was in VR what if it was in the metaverse what if
00:41:35
we went there and then they gave us a headset sorry that was derailing I would not enjoy that at all um but you know
00:41:43
they got some other os's too so they'll probably have some some new iOS stuff it seems like iOS 17 isn't going to be like
00:41:49
some massive jump they did a lot with like the lock screen of iOS 16 that was the headlining feature we got like
00:41:54
widgets I believe was iOS like 14 or 15 this one not too much headlin and crazy stuff happening uh or at least that's
00:42:01
not expected but it's the new iOS so it'll be focused on for sure Mark kman
00:42:06
called it a tuneup release so it feels like like fixing up all the iOS 16 stuff
00:42:12
to make it better literally the biggest thing I've seen is you'll be able to turn your iPhone into a smart display
00:42:17
which is like I I don't even know if I want to do that they're also going to be releasing that um your own your own
00:42:22
voice that you can type in words and it'll speak for you that was literally just like a small small nugget of an
00:42:28
accessibility feature that most people will probably never use but if you literally have like if you have like a
00:42:33
disability with your voice or you have like trouble speaking you can have it you can go through a a session where you say a bunch of words and it synthesizes
00:42:40
your voice and then you can use that a sort of like a DJ board to have it say things for you which is amazing yeah I
00:42:49
know and I want to try it even though I don't actually need it just whole podcast Sye just write all of it cuz
00:42:56
like the headline is easy it's an AI Apple made a way for you to AI synthesize your own voice I like they
00:43:02
did what that see that seems super cool you hook that up to a GPT and then people can just talk to you on the phone
00:43:08
and you don't even have to be on the phone you never even have to wake up yeah it can take meetings never have to why would I
00:43:15
at hell yeah so that so iOS 17 tweak tuneup update cool um iPad OS might be
00:43:22
along the same lines there's also some new watch OS stuff expected uh this one
00:43:27
could be a little bit bigger just because we know we have Apple watch Ultra now that's out we could get some
00:43:33
new widget stuff some new digital Crown functionality there's some some rumors
00:43:38
floating around again from Mark Gman that I've read into which seemed pretty cool tvos Mac OS hold on you missed the
00:43:44
biggest thing I think potentially for watch which is a new um int more intuitive layout for watch apps and like
00:43:52
just the watch in general that could be they're thinking like total redesign of your home screen on your Apple watch oh
00:43:58
wait the home screen meaning this cluster yeah I believe so that has been pretty much the same since the beginning
00:44:04
since the original Apple watch you can switch it to a list view yeah which is a list potential Apple home watch screen
00:44:12
update with more intuitive layout is what Mark Kerman said potential okay I'm interested uh tvos is it does TV things
00:44:20
know yep that's cool and then Mac OS which we are we we might some we might see some new Macs yeah I think the 15in
00:44:28
MacBook Air is supposed to launch here isn't there a couple Macs there's a there's the Big Air 15-inch MacBook Air
00:44:34
yeah there's also M M3 stuff possibly already maybe maybe cuz the iMac still
00:44:41
hasn't been updated and the M3 is supposed to be the first update for the iMac wait we never got an M2 iMac right
00:44:48
so we have an M1 iMac now we're just going to skip to M3 iMac yeah that's the rumor okay which I think makes sense
00:44:54
personally I mean iMac people didn't really need the m update but it's still kind of weird to skip it yeah it's weird
00:45:00
to skip it they could have just started putting it and yeah I don't know and then you know we always get like an M3
00:45:05
Mac Mini M3 iPad M3 based stuff Mac Mini 13inch Pro with touch bar can't wait
00:45:11
please kill me can I kill it keep the touch bar away from me um also my my
00:45:17
reservation we were talking about Mac Pro and how I've sort of adjusted my take on Mac Pro on this podcast in real
00:45:22
time in front of you guys I've settled on if there is no Mac pro at this WWDC
00:45:28
it's never coming out if there's no apple silicon Mac Pro update next week
00:45:34
at WWDC Apple will forget they will pretend it never existed and that they never
00:45:39
even mentioned it Marquez we've accepted this I am just now accepting it I know
00:45:45
you guys weren't looking forward to the macro at all time coming but in I was in like Tesla Roadster land where I was
00:45:51
like maybe someday possibly come on you didn't forget did you do you think it comes out
00:45:57
next week I think it either I don't I don't really if you had to bet on it's
00:46:02
gone for it'll never happen or it's out next week one or the other um I would
00:46:08
bet if I had to put money down God I think it's
00:46:14
gone I think it's gone it's gone I personally think it's gone they haven't done yeah I was going to say like they
00:46:20
run down the aisle if it gets announced at they haven't like announced and then just quietly swept under the rug
00:46:27
something sense air power and I think Now's the Time I think you need to okay Marquez we're in the acceptance phase
00:46:34
right first is denial denial that was me second is anger that's kind of right now
00:46:42
I've been there yeah been there third you're just about to seep into acceptance as soon as Monday happens
00:46:48
third is bargaining bargaining on Monday you're just going to go talk to Tim Tim come on
00:46:55
marches right into Loop walks around the oppos just make one for me anyway yeah I think it's dead
00:47:03
yeah I'm sorry yeah cuz otherwise like the Mac Studio is the Mac Studio is already an awkward device considering it
00:47:11
had the M1 Ultra was just a weird chip because the M2 Max is almost as powerful
00:47:17
by like only undercutting it by like 5% yeah and so we don't have an M2 Ultra yet no so it's just kind of like yeah
00:47:24
right now yeah it is weird yeah I still want it though that's the
00:47:30
thing like if you ask me what I think would happen I have one answer but if you ask me what I want to happen I want
00:47:36
Tim Cook to walk up there and be like Marquez bro we finally did it we know you wanted a Mac Pro and I know most
00:47:42
other people weren't going to buy this but we're going to fire a future this and just make a couple of them and you can you can you can get them out I hope
00:47:49
they they like hybrid it like they admit that it's not coming but they also like
00:47:55
publicly admit that so Tim cook walks up Mac Pro and it says it on the screen and he goes unfortunately we will not be
00:48:03
doing likely outcome no way in hell Apple I just if we didn't have live
00:48:09
reaction of marquez's face as that happened remember the um that scene where Craig fedi was like we keep
00:48:15
getting asked this question are we going to combine iOS and Mac OS and then there's just a huge slide it was just
00:48:21
like no I picture the same thing with the Mac Pro where F goes
00:48:28
like about this mag Pro are we actually going to do it no no and then I just
00:48:35
weep I'm like that Meme with the smiling face pissed off behind it yeah the way
00:48:40
that you said I I still want it though is like when my mom is like planning on taking me to Disneyland and then at some
00:48:45
point she's G she's like David I'm sorry honey but like we our finances don't work this year and then I just go but
00:48:52
Mom I still want it though
00:48:58
it's yeah I am definitely in bargaining but I will probably have to be in acceptance pres we're getting there yeah
00:49:04
what what do you want out of Mac Pro Fair question like like do you want it's
00:49:09
no it's a better do you want the modularity do you want better thermals do you want yes it's hard though like
00:49:16
what is modularity with the new Chips really right the chips aren't modular but the GPU part is and I still think
00:49:22
that there's a kind of like in logic there are lots of plugins that just make make it work in in Creator World there
00:49:30
are still some GPU heavy tasks and even some custom gpus that just make things
00:49:35
work I remember back in the day red had a GPU that they would sell to people and it was like the most weird just
00:49:41
collection of caor on a chip and no one who didn't need it would ever buy it for gaming but if you edited red footage my
00:49:47
God was that thing a lifesaver what was the name of that again it was the red rocket it was called the red rocket so
00:49:53
let's not talk about that anymore it was a terrible name uh but that that world's
00:49:59
still real um I think there are still people who who would like to stack 2 409s and throw it in a Mac and do crazy
00:50:06
things with it right there's it's got to be a little bit but also yes thermally I mean I I at this point I only really tax
00:50:15
the Mac Studio at the very highest end of the heaviest edit where I'm stacking text effects and all kinds of things on
00:50:21
my timeline and at the highest end I can get it to start to chug and even crash on me
00:50:27
uh sorry Final Cut team it's true it happens so if I could just sort of have the extra headro of an M2 Ultra or Max
00:50:35
or extreme or whatever and avoid that it would be it would be the dream machine and I would pay extra for the dream
00:50:41
machine to have the head room and never worry about it again you're still definitely in the bargaining phase I am yeah I'm like looking down the barrel
00:50:47
I'm like I would I would give you dollars yeah there were people talking about a potential M1 Extreme as well
00:50:53
which would now would be M3 extreme where it's like the M1 Ultra was two and when Max's fuse together this would be
00:50:59
like four to eight fuse together because you do you not want that right cuz like
00:51:04
before you had to cool it right that's why 249s and then 24 that's why the the Mac Studio was so thick yeah like it was
00:51:12
like two and a half Mac Mini stacked on top of each other this if if it was in a similar chassis to the Mac Pro you
00:51:19
literally just it's God mode yeah do anything I am in open air yeah I love
00:51:24
that inside the cheese grater that's why I'm thinking like we talked about this already but the old uh Darth Vader trash
00:51:31
can Mac Pro was ahead of its time cuz today in that much space they could do thermally great things without silicon
00:51:37
where they had that old Intel chip in there and it was like it was bad guys one fan really you thought that would work we're heating up so yeah that's my
00:51:45
uh bargaining bring back the trash I'm just saying don't bring the trash can back but you can do a Mac Pro Apple you
00:51:50
could do it they won't please I hope for your for your your sanity
00:51:57
that they don't end dubdub with Mac Pro in a trash can again did they ever show
00:52:03
the chassis for it they didn't right they just said we working on it yeah they they just so I was hanging on to the words at the end we can move on from
00:52:09
this but I was hanging on to the words at the end Keynotes and he said and next
00:52:15
we're moving to Mac Pro and then they left the lab no they so they said we've
00:52:21
finished the Apple silicon update cuz remember they they made this like 2-year promise yeah yeah and they were like and
00:52:28
with that we finished the app silic update except for one more thing the Mac Pro and they said it out loud they Nam
00:52:33
no I remember and I was like oh so they're still doing a Mac Pro great and that's the last time they ever even said those words in any Apple literature
00:52:40
presentation that's the last time it ever appeared so I've been just I've had that like clip echoing in the back of my
00:52:46
head like you said what that one time so if we ever need content for this
00:52:51
podcast I just have to say Mac Pro and Marquez has 20 minutes of content for us
00:52:56
it's sorry sorry to do this to you I personally feel bad sometimes after this week we will know it's either never
00:53:04
coming out or it's happening yeah that's true after Monday like if we go through all of dubdub and we don't hear any Mac
00:53:11
Pro mentioned I'm dropping it it's not it's not coming out that's the acceptance face yeah that's the
00:53:16
acceptance face all right all right we'll uh we'll accept try question
00:53:22
[Music] since the 1960s the Santa Clara Valley
00:53:29
has been known as the Silicon Valley prior to that nickname it was
00:53:35
known as a the Golden Valley named after the Golden State B the L Valley named
00:53:43
after the village in France's eer region l c The Valley Of Hearts Delight for its
00:53:51
high concentration of orchards and flowering trees or D a Royo Diablo a
00:53:58
Royo being the Spanish word for a flood Basin and Diablo coming from the Diablo mountains immediately north of Santa
00:54:08
Clara dang wait don't they have to name the next ma OS remember uh every WWDC they're like
00:54:16
our crack team and developers has come up with a new name for Mac OS and they haven't gotten through all the famous
00:54:21
places in California I think it's going to be Oro Diablo that sounds like a new Mac OS but that was the pth
00:54:26
true if it's the right answer be a good throwback if it's true or maybe I made that up it just sounds like a good name
00:54:33
if it's not the name of the if it's not the trivia question answer I kind of hope it's the next version of Mac OS I
00:54:39
think they should and I'm from California so I can speak like this I think they should pick one of the bad places in California like Mac OS
00:54:46
barstone yeah exactly oh they started off with like national parks and like
00:54:53
very memorable places and then I think it just kind of then it was like you're trapped you you feels like
00:55:02
that would actually be really F that be sick okay maatra that's definitely what they're going to name it I hope so we'll
00:55:08
be right back after the [Music]
00:55:18
break all right welcome back this is the last part of a pod and it is just
00:55:23
questions and answers I am told that we have some questions uh from you guys on
00:55:28
Twitter is it just Twitter I think we pulled on Twitter yeah okay so we asked you guys what you wanted to know on Twitter fun little pre-
00:55:35
WWDC Q&A sesh probably questions for any SL all of us so I haven't seen any of
00:55:40
the questions yet I will I will just I will just answer them as we go we can
00:55:46
just get into it all right yeah first question from it's Gillies 675 on
00:55:53
Twitter what do you guys actually do during the ad breaks we
00:55:58
cough that's actually I mean I feel like there's small like I always like crack open my water bottle and take a drink we
00:56:05
kind of check on what the time is but other than that we usually talk about something and just waste a lot of time I
00:56:11
just read ads yeah I've had a lot of people ask if we actually take a break it seems a very hot topic do they think
00:56:18
it's like a like a several minute break or something well cuz it's like we'll be right back after the break and it's like it's a break for you guys but it's not a
00:56:24
break for us cuz we never stop working yeah if you zoomed out you would you would hear us literally go we'll be
00:56:30
right back after the break all right we're back yeah it's like immediately right back into the the break was four
00:56:35
mic been some we had like a 30 minute conversation about Central Jersey one time true fortunately I here God it's
00:56:44
like sometimes just some dumb conversations but most of it is usually yeah yeah and sometimes what will happen
00:56:50
is like I will be in the peripherals sort of scrolling Twitter for brand new
00:56:55
in the moment information just in case it relates to like what we're talking about right now and occasionally be like
00:57:01
this happened 30 seconds ago breaking news Friday future breaking news yeah
00:57:07
like the fish from SpongeBob um breaking news really yeah
00:57:12
not much not to much that one while you're enjoying your ads we're already working again enjoying your ads I hope
00:57:19
you are hey this question was asked byi am Hammond on Twitter hello
00:57:27
Hammond his first name is actually Daniel I definitely recognize that name take it back okay uh what is one of the
00:57:34
biggest features you wish the studio had that it doesn't currently features
00:57:39
features well I can speak more car chargers yep that's yeah think you I
00:57:45
don't even own any EV and I wish there was more I don't even own a v that's wow parking lost it Chargers
00:57:54
fast internet a studio scream stream internet oh yeah David and I have been talking about a scream room for whenever
00:58:00
like whenever we're about to send a tweet and instead of getting the anger out by sending the Tweet we just go into
00:58:06
the studio scream room and scream he somebody typing too fast and you like unplug the keyboard you're like no no
00:58:12
take this out some other way they go into the scream room yeah and if we hooked up a twitch stream to it it could be the studio scream
00:58:18
stream it'd be like the Namibia cam the what the what the who all right now I
00:58:25
got to explain it all right so my little brother shout out
00:58:31
Mason plays a lot of uh Gary's mod on
00:58:36
like online Gary's mod that game is still popular it is yeah and one year I
00:58:41
was visiting him and he was playing Gary's mod on a server that he I think he's like a moderator in he's like
00:58:47
really in This Server a lot and on his second monitor was a live stream of a
00:58:52
watering hole in Namibia I love those random yeah you know what I'm talking about but
00:58:58
but it was a thing where everyone on the server had this same stream up and so
00:59:04
like some random animal would like walk and like start sipping and you'd hear
00:59:09
the whole voice chat be like bro gazelle there's like everyone look at Namibia stream Namibia Cam and then like the
00:59:17
whole thing would just like explode like bro that's so wholesome kids are incredible love that would be us in the
00:59:23
scream room yeah somebody div was about to tweet again he's screaming all right
00:59:29
next question from at cookie dark choco which is a great name tast for Andrew
00:59:34
fave Taylor Swift album 1989 wait you didn't want to ask me for Marquez
00:59:40
favorite Taylor Swift album that isn't 1989 1979 trying to think if I know
00:59:46
another one she wasn't born then damn red is that one yeah uh no give him the
00:59:52
Buzz cuz he didn't say Taylor's version oh my bad come on so he was right but he
00:59:57
was not ethical about it exactly also I did not get tickets but I might try and go to Pittsburgh in like two weeks and
01:00:03
get tickets there holy not kidding oh no well if I can get them within 24 hours I can make it there in six how far would
01:00:10
you go to Pittsburgh no to how would you go to see I think the
01:00:15
only concerts left are like Michigan Chicago like I'm not going to fly like I can make it to the only tickets you can
01:00:22
get now which I know cuz I tried all weekend to get them for MetLife is like Ticket Master just randomly drops like a
01:00:28
couple of them here and there and I was like glued to this Twitter account that was posting updates and like refreshing
01:00:34
all weekend so if I can get it within 24 hours or even 48 hours I could make it
01:00:40
to Pittsburgh in time that's the TR and Twitter and I we already have friends who said they're down for this trip as
01:00:45
well we can get okay yeah so Pittsburgh fingers crossed get to know Michigan's
01:00:50
not too easy or not too hard to drive to either that's I feel like that's more than a
01:00:57
is hours that's got to be like over 10 hours Michigan is 13 hours to get to laning that's a rough drive to get to
01:01:02
Lancing yeah but Taylor Swift's not going to Lancing sorry sorry Ling michig Detroit
01:01:08
is only an hour from Lancing though Detroit we don't need to talk about this right now I've done the drive
01:01:13
a bun times from Detroit this next question is from Nicholas bear at Nick bear1 we have standard folding flipping
01:01:21
and rolling phones either in production or development what would be a form factor you would like to see that has
01:01:27
not been tried yet the wing like sidekick version of like opening up something else like maybe that's the
01:01:33
best way cuz then the screen doesn't have to conform differently but like yo my LG wi video on Android authority did
01:01:39
so many views it dude went our most viewed Tik Tok still as you know YouTube
01:01:45
views translates directly to successful yeah yeah what if the what if a sidekick
01:01:51
just was a second screen so you flipped it up it was like a normal phone and then it wasn't no it used to be keyboard
01:01:57
oh right right so what if it was just another touch screen and then then you have two screens on top has that not
01:02:02
been tried yet I don't think so the wing is kind of it but that was like to a t with a smaller what if it that way and
01:02:10
then you guys need to smack the lip if you're listening to the audio version you're really missing out I would prefer
01:02:16
that it went that's I I don't think yeah maybe that's not been tried yet that's it's
01:02:22
more of that's the only thing I can think of cuz I'm not creative enough what has not been tried yet crumple phone I said it a few weeks ago on the
01:02:28
podcast no but the that TCL concept accordion phone I was going to say it never actually came out butan phone no
01:02:35
it didn't come out that was still folding though right justold but it was trifold oh so that's
01:02:41
folding crumple phone is like crumple phone CR it was what I said on the podcast like a few weeks ago it's a joke
01:02:47
but like yeah a phone that you can literally just go and then sort of like shake it out
01:02:53
like a beach towel so then it's even bigger in your pocket like I think of that when like the receipts in my pocket
01:02:59
literally yeah that's what Claire used to grab like poop bags to go out a dog walk and rather than fold them up in
01:03:05
nice she would just crumple them I was like now it's this huge thing in my pocket just like fold it nice she crumpled it yeah no no not with the boot
01:03:13
before before picking it up no very different thank God before
01:03:19
picking it up I I was B oh we need a new question so bad pick
01:03:27
[Music] anyway all right next question this one's from J motion zero
01:03:33
on Twitter what's your go-to thing to do to pass the time when the power goes out at home wow is about to flex on us
01:03:42
Marquez how often does the power go out of your home I don't remember the last time that happened uh no the I've had power
01:03:49
outages at my old place which was not that long ago I would light a candle
01:03:56
and uh cuz then you could see stuff and then yeah that was kind of
01:04:02
it you just sat there in the dark with the candle watched the wax
01:04:08
melt basically that's actually pretty sick yeah so you meditated is what it sounds like yeah so I don't have working
01:04:17
cooking gas already David basically lives in a state of not having
01:04:22
power sometimes my only lights that I ever have on in my apartment are like
01:04:28
three string lights my power bow last month was $11 that's awesome yeah $11 do you know
01:04:36
this is off topic do you know how many kilowatt hours I have no idea I could probably look it up that's amazing it's probably less than the Prius generates
01:04:43
per hour he could just for my entire plug the car plug the Prius into my apartment but when I was a kid uh we
01:04:50
used to we had this like little chandelier over the dinner table and we would put a bunch of candles in it we'd
01:04:55
like them we'd make hot chocolate with our gas stove and we would play Texas Hold them
01:05:00
under the light I like that pretty epic I like that that's cool yeah yeah I feel
01:05:05
like it depends on if it's like power out because of like a storm which is normally what it is and just like I
01:05:11
don't know storms are kind of fun to watch sometimes like I could watch storms for hours um and then just get
01:05:17
true lightning sad that I don't have internet and probably go to bed is lightning storms are epic lightning
01:05:22
storms wind storms like Sandy was wild to live through like I went out multiple
01:05:27
times when which probably shouldn't have but like I had no for two weeks so that was I long boarded that night around my
01:05:34
block just to say I did it you what I walked down this neighborhood and
01:05:40
like in the distance saw this just kind of big shadow in the street and as we walked up it was somebody's trampoline
01:05:46
like just in the middle of the street we had electrical fires everywhere so everyone was told not to go outside well
01:05:51
you had a crazy flooding in Hoboken too right like you couldn't even really get on several feet of water for a night
01:05:57
that was Mainland I was in beautiful sunny California you guys you don't know what we're talking about I mean I know
01:06:04
hurri s s here uh for for you guys for Andrew
01:06:10
and David I asked Chad gbt submit a question for the host of the way for podcast Q&A section that's literally
01:06:16
what I typed hello way for podcast team I've been an avid listener and I truly appreciate your perspectives on evolving
01:06:23
Tech on the evolving Tech landscape I have a question question regarding the intersection of AI and personal privacy
01:06:28
with AI becoming more sophisticated and integrated into our daily lives what are some steps we as consumers can take to
01:06:34
ensure our personal privacy isn't being compromised additionally we the AI yeah I can see it with the with the fake
01:06:40
mustache and the glasses like additionally how do you foresee the role of AI in shaping our privacy laws
01:06:47
in the future thanks and keep up the great show I feel like this is one of those things where it's like saying it's
01:06:53
giving me an option but is actually holding it got into my head it's I don't you don't have to
01:06:58
answer that that's fun asked about AI I just like how it pretended we the
01:07:04
consumer humans do you have real human questions I do have a real human question and it is related this one is
01:07:11
for fromt
01:07:16
gamer07 how much if at all has your workflow changed since this AI began and
01:07:23
how um I think we get asked this a lot it doesn't like from what I'm thinking you guys maybe on the writing side a bit
01:07:30
more like the most I've really seen it used in the studio is sometimes when we're brainstorming like title like
01:07:37
studio video or waveform title ideas when we have like a thumbnail already we'll be like man we've we think it's
01:07:44
like this or kind of like this Vibe so like let's let chat gbt write 10 options of different ways to word all of this we
01:07:51
might have used one at some point or like I remember Ellis one time we were doing that other than that I don't really touch it
01:07:58
I also don't pay for it so yeah it's like a brainstorming Tool uh I've mostly used it in the writing process for
01:08:06
coming up with alliterations alliterations for sure yes and then just
01:08:11
random different new uh angles to look at things so if you ask it a question that I already have my answer to just to
01:08:17
see how it answers it sometimes I might throw in a random variable I was like oh I didn't even talk about the size of this phone oh I didn't even talk about
01:08:22
the buttons there's just little random stuff it'll come up with so yeah brainstorming process yeah I ask um
01:08:29
gp4 and Bard different things on various occasion just to like every time they get a new feature which happens fairly
01:08:36
frequently just to sort of keep up with it and then also whenever we we have like these discussions in the office
01:08:41
around like different paradoxes and different things that have not necessarily been answered uh like how
01:08:48
many holes are in a straw and I like to ask the AI just to see what it thinks
01:08:53
and generally it does not help solve the question but add fun to it I'm an AI so
01:09:00
like I don't really know as an AI language model but here's what some people might say yeah exactly both which
01:09:05
is basically just saying the answer but cop out you know cop out um yeah mostly that I think that you know uh Ellis has
01:09:14
been using some AI audio tools Tim I think should try using some of the like
01:09:21
AI content orfill stuff especially now that for thumbnails cuz justum right and and I think this week Adobe officially
01:09:28
added generative fill they did I've been playing with it a little bit it seems just for meme potential yeah the meme
01:09:33
potential is quite High yeah I'm about to put out a studio Channel video on this so you'll get all the details later
01:09:39
but for audio Yeah I use off phonic uh as an audio AI all the time and also I
01:09:47
use the Runway video machine learning AI all the time is that Runway or Runway
01:09:54
Runway Runway yeah as long as the tools good it yeah it is cool next question
01:09:59
this one is from crore C2 CV how has the
01:10:05
framework Chromebook been for David ml more specifically how has the experience been on Chrome OS which is a great
01:10:11
question that is a good question uh I've gotten I've seen a lot of tweets and
01:10:17
also messages on Discord of people asking about this um I got sent it just cuz I like like the idea of the
01:10:23
framework laptop you can literally like swap out all of the ports so if you don't want an HDMI you can swap it out
01:10:30
for a USBC you can swap out the USBC for like an audio jack like whatever you
01:10:35
want having trouble doing it right now which is you know but you can you can swap out a million things the Chrome OS
01:10:41
one um is expensive for a Chromebook and I think I still kind of maintain that
01:10:47
Chromebooks like only have a space in being cheap um there are like a lot more
01:10:54
there are a lot of expensive Chromebooks that are quite good it's just that the point of chromeos is not to do difficult
01:11:01
heavy tasks uh if you have an Android phone and you don't do heavy creative
01:11:07
tasks there are a lot of Integrations with Chrome OS and Android which is cool like you can message through Google
01:11:13
messages right on Chrome OS you can get your notifications on there technically you can boot Android apps on Chrome OS
01:11:19
and use them which is cool they add that you can technically also do that with iOS on on Mac OS but nobody ever does
01:11:27
because it's just like the shape of an iPhone and it's the shape of an Android phone on this and it's like why would you do that um for the podcast super
01:11:35
easy super great um my main problem with it right now is that the standby battery
01:11:41
life is not very good and battery life on chrom OS is is also supposed to be
01:11:47
one of the main reasons that you buy them um but I leave this like I leave the lid closed and if I don't use it for
01:11:54
a week I would would expect a Chromebook to still have battery left but it always dies so I have to plug it in the day
01:12:00
before um beyond that though the hardware is super good keyboard is really good I love the expandability you
01:12:06
can swap out the display panel and it has like these clickers for turning on
01:12:11
and off the ability for it to use the microphone or the um webcam hard switches for that basically every single
01:12:18
part of it is is hot swappable which is really awesome I'm most interested in trying the windows version of this and
01:12:26
also specifically the 16in when that comes out which has like a modular GPU aspect and you can also swap out the
01:12:32
speakers for like LED light panels and stuff that seems a lot more like the
01:12:38
like future of framework I yeah chromos is is it's a really interesting concept but
01:12:44
considering like the a lot of the benefits of it like battery life have been very upended by M1 it's hard to
01:12:52
recommend expensive Chromebooks yeah main advantage of Chromebooks being that
01:12:57
they can be so cheap and get 90 something per of what you normally do on a laptop and I can't run arc on it
01:13:05
because it's Chrome only for the internet um yeah now I've heard good things about the framework this the 16in
01:13:12
one the modular GPU all this stuff like that you just don't see in other laptops which is really interesting when it
01:13:18
comes out does come out yeah they announced it so yeah I've got a
01:13:23
bazillion questions on I I would really love to to try the windows version so framework if you hear this and you want
01:13:28
to send me a Windows version let me know I'm derill on Twitter um yeah send it
01:13:34
send it do it I'm going to try and wrap a lot of questions that we got asked into one
01:13:41
because they're all sort of circling around each other interesting pixel fold
01:13:46
are you excited are you not excited will it be disruptive will it be a blurp uh
01:13:52
and then finally who is going to daily one when it comes out I am absolutely
01:13:58
going to try it for a little bit 100% I will be I am excited about it the the other question will it be disruptive I
01:14:05
don't think so yeah it's $1,800 there's a lot of really good foldable phones right now it can be not
01:14:11
disruptive and still not a blurp though like yeah that's yeah I would say like in the middle there I don't think it's
01:14:16
going to be disruptive it's not undercutting Samsung and stuff like that but it's I think software wise it will
01:14:22
be much more important than it is Hardware wise yeah I agree because of what's going on with Android 14 and obviously what Google's doing with
01:14:27
optimizations for folding phones so the fact that they the fact that it exists will make it important but it won't have
01:14:33
any sort of what's the word uh when it like interrupts the market disrup disrup
01:14:39
it won't be disruptive yeah it will just it will help move things forward I think I think that what's interesting is there
01:14:44
was this article that was circulating this week that said that Google was originally going to launch it a little
01:14:50
bit ago but they didn't think it was good enough so they waited and they kept refining it but yet it still kind of
01:14:58
feels like a first gen foldable from Google the hardware is really high quality yeah but I feel like the
01:15:05
refinements of like I know everyone like there's a huge debate about the bezel size but when you compare that to the
01:15:11
other more mature foldables on the market like the zold it is kind of hard to look past I'm really yeah and then
01:15:17
also the crease seems more intense than other foldables as well yeah I mean I
01:15:23
spent very little time with it so I don't know enough if I can say the crease was that different from others
01:15:28
but I I do want to daily it and use it cuz I feel like this is going to help me uh instruct my obviously I'm going to
01:15:34
review it I'm going to really put it to the test but this is the type of phone that I would use and almost never
01:15:42
recommend it's one of those yeah so it's the Omega nerd phone yeah it's interesting though I'm excited for it
01:15:48
yeah I love having all the pixel features on a foldable I think that's what everyone's been wanting for a long time you had to choose between the two
01:15:54
and now you get both yeah and we'll see if that bezel gets annoying or if I'm just like wow the selfie camera is better and real yeah
01:16:01
right that's true this question is from Justin g149 on Twitter never thought I'd say
01:16:08
this but as a fellow Millennial I'd love more videos like know this one already Andrew mcnelly's lawnmower review do you
01:16:16
guys have any other recommendations for Home Maintenance related Tech you use a lot of the ego stuff
01:16:22
right home I wouldn't say a lot uh you have a couple you have the snow blower I just have the snow blower you don't have
01:16:28
like the leaf blower or the string trimmer I bought a leaf blower a long time ago so I haven't done that but I is
01:16:35
a leaf blow and a snow blower the same thing no they're different things very different very different think of it as
01:16:40
like a snowthrower like Scoops snow up yeah one of them's for leaves and one of them's for
01:16:46
snow surprised you didn't know that thanks DAV so I have the ego snowblower
01:16:52
and I bought it right before we got Z snow for an entire winter yeah anything
01:16:57
so I've had those Chargers on the battery on the charger like all winter and never used them but yeah
01:17:03
theoretically there's a whole ecosystem of products but I have like a plugin uh I call it an air rake I don't
01:17:09
know if anyone else calls it that air Lea blower air rake I have a plug-in leaf blower with a 100 foot extension
01:17:15
cable so I can walk around with an electric leaf blower but it it doesn't use the batteries so yeah I mean it seems like the
01:17:21
lawnmower is the sort of apex of it doesn't get any better it's like the flagship I've been thoroughly enjoying
01:17:28
it by the way still love it um yeah I have a bunch of other ego stuff and then other than that it's like it's not super
01:17:33
techy but just all power tools are electric at this point and you kind of buy into an ecosystem so I'm in the
01:17:39
Milwaukee ecosystem mostly what the hell was that wait what's the other ecosystem
01:17:45
it's like the two main ones right Milwaukee's the yellow one the Walt the Walt is huge but there's still like
01:17:51
Ryobi and black and& Decker and uh and they all have a color who what's the blue one RH or something Cobalt Cobalt yeah
01:18:00
oh Cobalt is there's a lot of them there's a lot Cobalt is yeah I got into Milwaukee just because my brother-in-law has every single Milwaukee tool you
01:18:07
could ever think of so it's very easy for me to go borrow and still use all my battery chargers and stuff but like the
01:18:13
ego Stuff felt a little more like there was a bit more in it that's why I made a video whereas like my uh my impact
01:18:21
driver just has a battery that I use for my drill as well just picturing like that conversation we had earlier about
01:18:27
like 14 standards now there's 15 and I'm just like what if what if Milwaukee just started using dewalt's charger or
01:18:33
something like how weird would that be it would just be such an odd thing for them to do they're not going to collab
01:18:38
ever do you have power tools what do you use I I have one what's the yellow one dealt de Walt I have one power drill and
01:18:45
that's my only power tool get an impact driver impact driver I mean I don't have hang that many things it's just worth it
01:18:52
oh it's just a to to have aw it's power the question asked about um Home
01:18:57
Maintenance so I will give the shout out that Dyson was probably hoping I would give a thousand times the dys vacuum
01:19:03
it's it's incredible I highly recommend it we bought one finally the other day
01:19:08
Claire was using it and she's like why had why did we not buy this and I told her I was like Marquez used to try and convince me at work all the time and I
01:19:15
was like no it doesn't make sense for us and now we have it and you walk around from we have not touched the other vacuum since then it's incred it was the
01:19:22
it was like 400 bucks best $400 we've spent yeah my favorite Home Appliance is the propane uh camping stove that I use
01:19:30
because I don't have working cooking gas wait so nice nice we'll put the
01:19:36
affiliate link to that in the show notes here like like it's on the floor no it's on top of my stove oh I see for now I
01:19:43
mean you could put it on the floor if you wanted to okay if you really wanted to cook the floor soup you know but I
01:19:49
cook it on the stove but on top of the yeah on top of the
01:19:56
this question brought to you by being old and living in the oldest building in
01:20:01
your apartment maintenance in your uh in your neighborhood anyway yeah one more I
01:20:06
want to sue your landlord I want to sue them so bad someone to Mr landlord if you're
01:20:12
listening to this yeah what's what's his name say it do where do you live shame
01:20:19
all I'll say is that they said that they would fix it eight months ago and it's been eight months she get in writing so
01:20:26
you can sue yeah oh I have stop paying anyway anyway sorry guys this last
01:20:33
question I think we've done quite enough M wow this last question comes from
01:20:39
harsh Patel at harsh Pats we just saw David take a lovely vacation with his 50
01:20:45
different cameras I only brought six would love to know more about everyone else's favorite
01:20:52
vations wait that's it wait favorite vacations well everyone else's favorite vacations they've had or are planning
01:20:59
but oh oh vacations not cameras I thought you said David said cameras sorry oh oh man I thought this was the
01:21:06
one asking what your favorite photo you ever took was and I had a favorite photo well are you on a vacation when you took
01:21:12
the photo I was I have to find the photo those that part's going to be tough is that the one of the of the with the
01:21:19
valley with the X100 the Crazy Goat picture no it's the goat picture goat picture I have a he got a narly go
01:21:26
picture LeBron James was not happy I'll let you guys talk why I find
01:21:32
this was it amateur or was it with your goat Pro goat Pro goat amateur Jesus
01:21:37
favorite vacation you've ever been on favorite vacation I mean Hawaii is my
01:21:43
favorite place to vacation I think I've been three times
01:21:48
now I like Hawaii I've only I've only been to one Island though so I should probably right
01:21:56
dude hardest core goat you've ever seen that's a mountain goat Christ and you
01:22:01
finally found a picture sharp it's really sharp what you take that with uh a7r 2 with a like 24
01:22:10
to5 um we were pretty close to it because the place we hi we were in Glacier National Park which I think I
01:22:16
have to say is like also my favorite vacation cuz I also got engaged during that trip so that was a lot of fun but
01:22:22
the wildlife is crazy this it was this uh Trail where it was really snow
01:22:27
clovered so not many people hiked up it and there's just a group of mountain goats up there and like I'm behind a
01:22:34
walkway but I have like the camera through the walk the little like guard rail and then zoomed in on it and then I
01:22:41
can't find the other picture but the next one it looks straight at me and I go like I'm too I'm too close here it's time to leave R but um yeah this is
01:22:48
probably my favorite picture I've ever taken that does remind me of uh I did go to yosity National Park once when I was
01:22:55
a kid and we went into the into the redwood forest at a picnic table and started eating and the Ravens would kind
01:23:02
of just sort of sort of chill like they didn't like come up to you like pigeons in New York City but they would like
01:23:07
happily like swoop down yeah investigate and I was super into Ravens at the time
01:23:13
so I was like yeah this is sick look at these big birds they're smart we did a a
01:23:19
uh hike in yosee up towards the top it kind of like overlooks the whole valley and why you're up there the Ravens are
01:23:25
just flying around where you are cuz you're on this little Ridge yeah and if you walk away from your backpacks they
01:23:31
jump over to your backpacks and start opening like undoing the zi undo zippers yeah they're smart burs that's fire I
01:23:38
love y I've been there many times I was there in October and it is freaking beautiful really is I would love to go
01:23:44
to glitcher at some point you definitely should and I will tell you all the good places I'm going to free solo l cap sick
01:23:50
no cap Do What You Won't No Cap l cap um I don't know if I could pick a favorite
01:23:56
place there's too many that I've been to and they're all pretty humble Flex is Iceland in the top 50% or bottom
01:24:04
50% Iceland's up there because it feels like Mars uh other ones I love I love
01:24:10
like the remote parts of Denmark I love Portugal I love Japan what was the
01:24:16
mountain you took I keep wanting to call it the to blon but oh oh the matter horn
01:24:22
matter horn Mador like a that picture is incredible yeah there's like a really
01:24:28
remote Village in Switzerland um trying to remember what it's called you have to take like a 4-Hour wooden rickety train
01:24:35
there and it was blizzarding when I was going at 2 a.m. and I was like I'm going to get blown off these tracks Jes I got
01:24:41
there and I'm like walking through the village and there's just these insanely rich people that are walking towards me
01:24:48
at like 2: in the morning um and they're like welcome to Zat and it was like 2
01:24:54
the morning you're movie holy crap yeah and then the matter horn is just there looming over the looming awesome it was
01:25:01
nuts so cool anyway it's very cool it's a good one to end very pretty Place yeah
01:25:07
yeah well we should go over uh the questions that you guys had for us at the very end the trivia questions the
01:25:13
best questions some would say all right quick recap underscore Marquez with 18
01:25:20
Andrew with 15 David with 19 in 2005 5 Motorola launched the Razer
01:25:26
v3i adopting the ey to Signal a collab with apple what Apple software did the
01:25:32
phone have built [Music] in write your
01:25:40
answers 1994 2005 oh where on Earth did he get that
01:25:49
[Music] number this is really difficult I feel like they wouldn't allow
01:25:56
this Final Cuts on everything now all right all right flip them and read what
01:26:01
do you got yeah baby yeah we all put the same we all put the same we iTunes
01:26:06
iTunes really yeah yeah cool nice yeah this is one this was a weird time I'm surprised they allowed that yeah they
01:26:12
had iPods and they were like well what if phones had iTunes before the iPhone
01:26:17
before the I bet it had way less storage and then people were like well just get it so there was a caveat there despite
01:26:23
the fact that you should have been able to hold you know closer to like 400
01:26:29
songs given the memory on this razor or like the maximum expandable memory possible depending on which flash of the
01:26:36
ROM you had you were limited to either 50 or 100 songs even if you had the
01:26:41
space for it the other caveat is that you could only Play You's album that got
01:26:47
pre-loaded I could see that actually being yeah that's pretty classic I'm joking Alice no yeah but the the
01:26:53
limiting of of the songs is very apple right but you's vertigo came out in 2004
01:27:01
meaning there's a chance I just think that song is ridiculous Ser saying there's a chance
01:27:06
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah there was a special YouTube iPod Classic which is
01:27:12
amazing all right this next one is multiple choice uh remember it's about
01:27:17
the Silicon Valley also known as the Santa Clara Valley that's its actual name before it was known as Silicon
01:27:23
Valley it was known as a the Golden Valley named after the Golden State uh
01:27:29
for those outside the US all 50 states each have like a nickname like New York is the Empire State California is the
01:27:35
Golden State new jerseyy is the pork roll state that one's not true New Jersey is in fact people outside of here
01:27:41
don't need to know that that's true do you know what it is of course it's the Garden State yeah is there that many
01:27:46
Gardens here that's I about every state name every state name I go are there
01:27:51
that many though State really there are that many H lots of
01:27:59
sunshines Georgia Peach really peach state is that actually what it is the peach state I I think that's their
01:28:04
license plate actually a golden state or excuse me Golden Valley golden Valle the
01:28:11
L Valley named after the village of L in the French isir region how do you spell
01:28:17
that L yeah exactly like Valley but with an l oh really L Valley l a l l e y yeah
01:28:23
h yes L Valley had to double check but if it's real yeah anyway the L Valley again
01:28:29
named after the village of L in the French it's like region uh of is and
01:28:35
that took me a long time to figure out how to pronounce c the valley of heart's Delight named
01:28:43
for its high concentration of orchards and flowering fruits or D A Royo Diablo a Royo being
01:28:51
the Spanish word for a flood Basin and Diablo coming from the Diablo mountains immediately north of Santa
01:28:57
Clara this is difficult good job this is not Tech at all no Silicon Valley yeah
01:29:05
it's Tech adjacent that's it wasn't Silicon Valley though no amount of Technology would help us answer this
01:29:11
question uh that's true the internet could that's I'm going
01:29:17
to ask chbt just kidding I wrote an answer I'm nervous
01:29:26
David what did you [Music]
01:29:32
put who wants to go first I put B so the
01:29:37
L Valley yeah sorry dang I put the L Valley nice I put a
01:29:46
Royo I put D it was C wasn't it it was in fact C The Valley Of Hearts Delights
01:29:52
but I do appreciate that both of you guys thought the valley the L Valley hold on hold on so like when I asked you
01:29:59
to spell it you didn't look and spell down I was like it's definitely not that but then you like did a really good job
01:30:04
saving yourself about like like Lear to pronounce l is a real City in France it has a population of about 300 and it is
01:30:11
in fact in the region of isir it just has nothing to do with Sil so my Yeah my two guesses were going to be that
01:30:18
because there's so much wine made in the Sonoma Valley excellent which is very
01:30:24
close to the Silicon Valley that's exactly what I was thinking and I definitely didn't just Google the word L
01:30:29
and back form that word no of course not yeah you stupid wait you didn't right no
01:30:35
I did I just Googled the word L cuz I thought L Valley sounded really funny and then you know back formed the the
01:30:41
answer well I wish I was French yeah he got you guys all right the C the reason
01:30:46
I almost put C which is I guess real cuz there's a lot of fruit mhm in California
01:30:52
you can pick it up the trees there's lot of Orchards but the problem is there are lots of orchards all throughout California not just that area of
01:30:59
California is d a real place uh probably there's lots of places in California
01:31:05
that start with a Royo because California has lots of ayos I just figured there's so many Spanish named Los Angeles like everything San Andreas
01:31:13
everything South is like Spanish named I just figured it was another Spanish name yeah well the US bought California from
01:31:19
Mexico right a royal Diablo is actually in Texas also so bot is a strong word
01:31:25
for one went down yeah yeah I would yeah on that note thanks for watching the way
01:31:31
form podcast where you can always expect a whole bunch of tech and just a little bit of history on the side hope you learned something today thanks for
01:31:37
watching and listening hopefully you'll catch us with a very special out of your
