00:00:00
the West Coast has like a couple hey what did you just say what did you East
00:00:06
Coast baby oh my God they have good weather though and other stuff no
00:00:13
just they got St with you look name one good thing that's come from the West
00:00:18
Coast me me what the hell
00:00:28
incorrect all right what is up people of the internet welcome back to another episode of the waveform podcast we're your hosts
00:00:35
I'm Marquez I'm Andrew and I'm David this past week was April 1st did you
00:00:41
guys see anything good on April Fool's Day this year I feel like I didn't very little very little I mean ours was
00:00:47
fantastic ours was dope yeah but I I feel like I didn't see much as far as other company announcements we did one
00:00:54
we did one we did okay just you know what's funny about that we we so we made one April Fool's Day short which is
00:01:01
similar to last year but it was the uh pseudo Studio Tour accent upload with the uh the robots in the background yeah
00:01:08
and you nailed it with the accidental upload title I think that really was the icing on the key that was I I loved it
00:01:15
but then it like keeps it's a short so it's going to keep showing it to people after but it in YouTube shorts it
00:01:21
doesn't really show the date of upload like kind of anywhere unless you click in and like look for it yeah so people
00:01:27
are seeing it on April 2 and then April 3rd and they're like what wow you guys have you guys have Tesla Bots that's
00:01:33
kind of cool it was an incredibly well done CGI job by the team at so Krispy
00:01:38
which they do a lot of CGI stuff all over YouTube you kind of don't really notice until you like peel back the
00:01:44
curtain realize how much they do but they helped us out with it and it looks very very realistic so yeah it's kind of
00:01:51
out there we're still getting texts from people saying you guys have you guys have Tesla vots actually um I know that
00:01:57
Samar doesn't listen to this podcast but he's a neuroscientist and he uh texted me and said dude were you there are the
00:02:03
robots there and I was like bro I'm sorry my mom does watch this podcast and she thought they were real so that was
00:02:10
April fools just so you know but uh I I literally didn't see anything good I saw
00:02:17
one small one and I'm apologizing for talking about keyboards again but this company mode they make awesome keyboards
00:02:24
but their like logo on the back of it is a circle and they just like made a fake one about how that logo on the back is
00:02:29
now mag safe charging pad and so it's just a whole ass keyboard upside
00:02:35
down put mag safe Chargers everywhere it's fine is this in the realm of like
00:02:40
company announces product that might be a good idea on April 1st to see if it's actually I don't know if it's a good
00:02:46
idea to have like a $300 keyboard upside down so you can charge your phone on the bottom so definitely a joke yes but also
00:02:54
I feel like I've seen a lot more of those lately where Like It's upsetting that it's not thing companies will
00:03:01
announ I wish I had a good example of this but they'll announce something that seems kind of pseudo realistic but maybe
00:03:06
kind of a bad idea but it's April 1st so if if it bombs or if everyone goes haha
00:03:11
funny joke they can go yeah it's yep it's a joke but if people go wow I would
00:03:17
have really liked this and they go oh yeah no yeah of course good thing this is actually real because they were
00:03:22
testing the waters right I don't know did you guys see the IGN April fools
00:03:27
video the Virtual Boy Pro really it was it's essentially a switch
00:03:34
strapped to someone's eyeballs it's it's pretty funny is it only red uh no it has the joycons on the side God nice um yeah
00:03:44
blue sky made shorts but like actual shorts you can wear and I just sort of feel like that's really overdone yeah um
00:03:51
extremely overdone Tesa did that already yeah they did yeah they did and then
00:03:57
Ellis and I went to this like thing in the city that was a it was like a short like story festival and every time a new
00:04:05
person came out to read a new short story they would be wearing a different pair of shorts and it's just like okay
00:04:10
guys it's a little overdone at this point yeah yeah um funny but but one
00:04:16
that is actually our first story that was an April Fool's thing to start with and turned out being really hilarious uh
00:04:22
so Discord made Loop loot boxes which for those that are not deep in the
00:04:28
gaming community uh loot boxes are extremely controversial depending on how
00:04:33
you give them to players there have been times when you have to buy loot boxes and you can get items out of them and
00:04:38
it's like a good way to monetize your game but also people hate them there are times when you in OverWatch you get loot boxes for free just depending on how
00:04:44
many times you play the game and people like him in that sense in OverWatch one of the reasons just cuz I know someone's
00:04:50
going to say not everyone loved them in OverWatch but like it used to be the only way you could get the Skins so like
00:04:55
yes you got some for free but if there was one skin you really wanted it was basically incent iing you to like buy
00:05:01
more skins then they added coins and some other stuff and I think it's okay now and then Star Wars
00:05:07
Battlefront blew up their entire game because of loot boxes it was it was a whole thing it was a whole thing anyway
00:05:14
um so Discord made loot boxes for Discord which was sort of like a joke
00:05:20
thing but also actually exists where basically you can like open these loot boxes and get virtual icons that are
00:05:26
emotes you can use in Discord so people use emotes all the time if you're subscribed or on Twitch if you're
00:05:33
subscribed to certain channels there's special emotes for it so Discord is sort of they're trying to become twitch it's
00:05:40
really big in Discord having custom emotes for servers and not only that but then if you have Nitro you can use them
00:05:45
on other people's servers so like our server has a bunch of custom emotes of all sorts of different things so they launched a thing recently which was like
00:05:52
Discord quests where if you're streaming it on Discord and you can get other people to watch your stream it gives you
00:05:58
special quests and then if you complete those Quest then you like get special emotes and stuff and also Nitro
00:06:03
subscriptions but uh the thing that ended up being funny is they launched these loot boxes they made a video for
00:06:09
the launch that they released on April 1st mhm they also put that video in
00:06:15
Discord as like a what's new update thing that automatically pops up when you launch Discord and they also made it
00:06:23
Loop and they didn't understand that doing that would count as a view on
00:06:29
YouTube because it embedded the YouTube video they embedded a looping YouTube video as a Discord popup for every
00:06:35
Discord user yes so sick hack within within 24 hours the video got 221
00:06:42
million views on YouTube guys I have an idea it is now the fastest growing YouTube video ever oh wow they
00:06:49
accidentally viewbotted their own they accidentally made a working viewbot for yeah not quite viewbotting but yeah it
00:06:55
is pretty hacky sort of like a viewbot is not real people this is real people
00:07:02
upload opening this app and watching at least once this video they watch it a
00:07:08
ton of times cuz it's automatically looped yeah there are people viewbot by um like embedding it into a popular
00:07:14
website so it's just Auto playing on like this side so it's like you're not really watching it but a twitch stream
00:07:20
might get a bunch of views that way or a YouTube video might get a bunch of views that way so like kind of not exactly but
00:07:26
um yeah it got a stupid what did it pass what was the uh the GTA 6 uh there was
00:07:32
GTA I don't don't ask me how I know this the top videos were a Mr Beast video Will Smith slapping Chris Rock another
00:07:40
Mr Beast video and then the GTA 6 video and now this yeah the GTA 6 video was 93
00:07:47
million views in 24 hours this was like 221 million views in smoked it hours
00:07:54
because again it looped on like everyone who opened discords we're not going to get a record holder for a while yeah but
00:08:01
this is like obviously not real has the Asis big Asis but I think it's still
00:08:06
count like when you see the YouTube record lists half of them are always music videos and you're like H does that
00:08:11
really count it's like yeah that counts people watched it like a new K-pop video will drop and it'll be like the fastest
00:08:16
video to a billion views and you're like should this count I guess so I guess
00:08:21
this is a little different but it's still I think this counts yeah yeah it is funny it luckily it doesn't seem like
00:08:28
they monetize the video um oh God imagine unskippable wow that would have been if they dropped some
00:08:34
unskippable mid rolls in there that would have been a I think that's why they didn't monetize the video because it was going to autoplay in people's uh
00:08:41
Discord and they didn't want to force people to watch ads before they watch the update good idea yeah which is a
00:08:46
good idea but they could have made a lot of money on that 221 million views um
00:08:51
apparently like even one of the software developers in their internal Discord was like how is this video getting so many
00:08:57
views like they didn't understand what was going on it was just part of their joke that seems so obvious I mean in
00:09:04
hindsight it seems so obvious but yeah I think that they didn't understand that like embedding a video into the client
00:09:09
would actually make it see as a view and then making it Loop like there's always it's always kind of ambiguous like if
00:09:16
you watch the same video multiple times does that count as two views or does that because it's from the same IP not
00:09:21
count as two views generally do you know the answer it's generally two views yeah it is if I watch an entire video twice
00:09:27
through it's two views okay now if you sit there and refresh over and over and watch one second of the video 10 times
00:09:33
YouTube I think by that point is smart enough to realize that that's not 10 views but yeah if I watch the whole
00:09:38
thing and it loops and I watch the whole thing again that's two yeah okay and the video that they made is very short it's
00:09:45
like 30 seconds long so this is the perfect storm it's funny I didn't actually see it despite logging in to
00:09:52
Discord twice that day cuz it like pops up on the corner as a loop box and it like moves I didn't even realize it was
00:09:58
going to be an fulls thing but I thought it was hilarious because the way to click out of it was wasn't just an x button it was a button that said I
00:10:05
didn't ask and like you just clicked that and it went away like it was like oh here's your loot box it's like
00:10:10
shaking get ready to open it and then there's just a thing that's like didn't ask I don't remember ask you clicked out of it I thought that was 22 Yeah so
00:10:16
maybe if they had forced it upon more people it would be it be 500 it could be bigger it could be way bigger yeah um so
00:10:23
I just thought that was a little funny like YouTube thing it was just meant to be like a dumb April fools thing it just became the fastest growing video on
00:10:30
YouTube of all time that was crazy so that was fun that was very funny yeah yeah um okay next up we have apple is
00:10:39
now highlighting podcasts that yeah we need Segway I need a better segue sorry
00:10:44
you got to think of something okay speaking wait I got it okay I don't actually have anything I'm going to do
00:10:49
it on the Fly speaking of loot
00:10:55
boxes apple is
00:11:00
looting it's the podcasters that make podcast on Apple podcast for
00:11:07
30% with this new subscription feature of their money oh yeah
00:11:14
[Music] oh bars okay okay the flow there was
00:11:20
impeccable I I haven't thought of anything prior okay out Discord loot boxes
00:11:26
boxes apple boxes
00:11:33
Apple So speaking of Apple yeah uhhuh oh
00:11:39
okay yeah okay okay so we got there yeah I think in 2021 Apple launched this new podcast
00:11:46
subscriptions feature which is effectively supposed to be patreon for Apple podcasts um you can do multiple
00:11:53
different things like give exclusive episodes you can give Early Access it's
00:11:58
it's basically exactly patreon however Apple you know got to take their cut
00:12:04
because it's Apple so if you sign up to be a podcast that uses the Apple podcast
00:12:10
subscription feature they take 30% of your Revenue yeah for the first year and
00:12:16
15% for every subsequent year jesz yeah so it's it's a lot and you can probably
00:12:22
see why people probably don't want to sign up for this because like I don't know locking yourself into there's a
00:12:28
whole discussion around this and like a big part of it is podcasts are one of the only things so far that have not
00:12:34
necessarily been like locked down by a platform because they're rsis well
00:12:39
because they're RSS based they're like one of the last remaining rss-based things that is just a feed it's a fire
00:12:46
hose that can be captured by any any client okay hear me out this is probably
00:12:52
a terrible idea Apple don't do this but but you know how get ready to bleep this
00:12:58
you know how we had SMS which is just like the thing that carriers supported and then Apple went H we want to build
00:13:04
something that does more media and Rich and bigger files blah blah and they just made iMessage and it just straight up
00:13:10
didn't need SMS you could use it over the Internet Apple podcast is so big and
00:13:16
so dominant that if they just went RSS is like whatever but we want to do this Rich ecosystem thing here where we have
00:13:24
subscriptions and tiers and all this stuff we're just going to build it separately and people will upload to our thing
00:13:30
they could do that right well they're not actually dominant Spotify is the most popular podcast player in the world
00:13:37
I didn't know that okay yeah Spotify has most of the the same thing applies to them Spotify could do that yeah I guess
00:13:45
it would be you would need some sort of dominance already to pull that off and they had the dominance with iTunes but
00:13:50
when Spotify started doing podcast somehow they it was so successful they
00:13:56
were able to transition so many of their music listeners over to podcast listeners okay that's good then which is
00:14:01
pretty crazy all right um anyway so they made this feature you know and some people signed up some people didn't but
00:14:07
just recently there was this report out of uh semaphore that now in the browse
00:14:13
section of Apple podcasts they noticed that five of the seven of the
00:14:19
recommended podcasts were channels that had signed up for the subscription feature and they found that to be a
00:14:25
little bit like sketch so that doesn't shock me at all well how YouTube might
00:14:31
highlight channels that use their new features that wouldn't shock me at all yeah but I feel like this is so the
00:14:37
thing about podcasts like I said is like RSS is this big fire hose anyone can tap into and apple is sort of trying to get
00:14:44
people to now focus on using Apple podcast because if you have apple
00:14:51
podcast subscriptions and you're like pulling people towards Apple podcast as the only place to get the bonus episodes
00:14:57
and the early episodes and that kind kind of stuff that you're inherently not going to use any of your other options
00:15:03
and then it's like oh if I want to subscribe to this Channel and get early access to episodes I can no longer I
00:15:10
have to use an iPhone this is the same thing as the Department of Justice it's the same thing yeah like you have to use
00:15:16
an iPhone to be able to get your early podcast stuff which is like not something Apple should be able to own
00:15:21
that's why yeah like we've looked into this cuz we look at any podcast type of
00:15:27
things for waveform obviously and like when we originally saw this one we just release episodes when they're out like
00:15:34
we've been pitched a million times on a million platforms like early release have people pay for early release and we're like we release it as early as
00:15:40
possible sometimes maybe too early that is not something we can do we
00:15:45
are not that but like when we looked at this even though I know you said Spotify is the most popular in the world for us
00:15:51
we have a huge US base Apple podcast is the most popular way people listen to
00:15:56
waveform it still doesn't make sense for us to do a bunch of stuff specifically that can only be tapped in through Apple
00:16:03
podcast even if we found this extra stuff that we wanted to release on it it like it would alienate probably
00:16:11
over a half of our viewers right yeah and when podcast is like that with RSS feeds and people are listening on a
00:16:17
million different things yeah this is this feels way less of like hey podcasters come make some extra money
00:16:23
and more Apple being like hey start not thinking about other ways to listen to podcasts which is really hard if you
00:16:28
need to do it on a an iPhone or a Mac like the podcast app or something like
00:16:33
that so you said this was in the browse area of the app it's not like a chart or something no it's in the like discover
00:16:39
area because I would expect you know charts to remain sort of untouched but
00:16:44
if it's whatever they want if it's Apple's discover section like they can put editor's Choice stuff whatever they want there the way that you
00:16:51
traditionally got your podcast in the like discover section or the editor's choice section of Apple podcast which
00:16:56
you would fill out a form say this is my podcast this is what it's about and then someone at Apple would like listen to it
00:17:01
and decide whether it was good enough to throw up there yeah yeah which was kind of like a it's like a lottery in that
00:17:07
it's already a slippery yeah that's just whatever Apple likes it does feel a little weirder being like people using
00:17:14
YouTube's new features are not based on the the user paying right like YouTube
00:17:21
isn't going to put something forward because the users are paying for something towards that channel whereas this is like hey you're going to get
00:17:28
pushed forward because you're getting your users to pay you money but also YouTube is like the platform where you
00:17:34
upload the video and so I feel like because podcasts are RSS focused trying to consolidate power towards one
00:17:41
distribution platform just feels bad no no I agree yeah yeah uh there's this
00:17:47
quote from SE from the semaphore article that says an executive at an independent
00:17:52
podcast told sefor that in recent months when they asked the company how they could be promoted in the browse carousel
00:17:58
Apple leader suggested that the show participate in the platform's new subscription program buy your mom and iPhone it's like that's that blast part
00:18:06
was not the quote but it's it's very similar like just you know you want to be featured yeah use our use our 30% to
00:18:15
I totally see both sides of it like if I'm if I'm YouTube again if I'm like hey YouTube how do I uh get more promoted on
00:18:23
like homepage and recommended well if you use the subscription feature and you
00:18:29
use the playlist features and use all these other features then you'll have more chances to be shown and highlighted
00:18:35
obviously it's how we encourage people to use the features more so that doesn't shock me but when Apple does it and it's
00:18:42
it's like sort of siphoning from RSS based podcast in general then it feels a little different it's yeah that's it
00:18:49
doesn't shock me that they're doing this but me of yeah it is interesting it is just weird because the the value
00:18:55
proposition from YouTube is upload it and you'll get paid basically like if you get to a certain point we'll put ads
00:19:02
in your thing we'll handle it all you're good and then you're using their features on top of that MH but for
00:19:09
podcasts podcasts are already free you know like there's no value inherent in
00:19:15
uploading to Apple specifically and then they're taking 30% well Apple argue of
00:19:22
the like premium subscription yeah so they are create it's they're having you create value proposition buy more
00:19:30
content that people would pay for or something like that and they're taking that cut they're giving you a platform
00:19:36
to make money off of additional content and they're taking 30% of that
00:19:42
additional Revenue in the first year and 15% in each subsequent year I also think the word platform does a lot of lifting
00:19:50
where you assume that if you just made a podcast and put it on an RSS feed then almost no one would find it but if you
00:19:56
put it on a platform that elevates and has some discoverability in some way
00:20:01
then more people will find it and if you put it on the biggest most discoverable vibrant platform like apples you're more
00:20:07
likely to get more eyeballs so I think Apple would argue there is value to being on our insert platform here app
00:20:14
store whatever uh being on Apple podcasts gets you more eyeballs lets you
00:20:19
charge more for ads and now we'll take our cut thank you yeah kind of their thing but they need to do more like as
00:20:26
someone that up like we use megaphone which is a Spotify company they make it very easy to do everything we need to do
00:20:33
like show notes and ads and all that inventorying chapters megaphone what are
00:20:38
you doing people have been complaining about it on this podcast for years just
00:20:44
add chapters I know you're listening I know somebody right now at megaphone or
00:20:49
Spotify is listening give us chapters sorry thank you agreed but I say like
00:20:56
that platform discussion versus what Apple will offer if you upload to Apple there's again there's just nothing we're
00:21:02
getting out of just uploading straight to Apple outside of something that already exists somewhere else like I don't get anything specific
00:21:09
to Apple when just eyeballs which is like is that really worth it for yeah
00:21:16
eyeballs are pretty important if you get into brow section sure but that's only like what three podcasts a day or
00:21:21
something you know yeah so that's something that kind of bugs me a little bit with this is like I think I hope we
00:21:29
all agree or we've talked about it a lot one of the biggest issues with podcast is discoverability it's something we're
00:21:34
consistently focusing on why we put it on this platform Why YouTube is great for podcasts I think yeah apple podcast
00:21:41
has a Poss a chance to have a platform that can help discoverability and do
00:21:46
better and I'm sure they're doing some things but still no matter what discoverability in podcast sucks it does
00:21:51
so then to be like well the thing that sucks now our way of doing it is five of
00:21:57
the seven things we're going to suggest you are because they're making us money and have this kind of weird subscription
00:22:03
thing focused on it that's where it feels a little ickier to me hear me out what if there was a platform where you
00:22:09
could upload your podcast and it had discoverability built in and they would
00:22:15
cook in I knew this was coming I KN the minute he said what if said hear me out he's like he's just GNA pit YouTube and
00:22:22
they would give you ads without you having to do extra work but they take
00:22:29
55% would you do it is it a podcast yeah you have a
00:22:35
podcast you have to put it online they offer you the eyeballs and discoverability and they will bake in
00:22:41
ads for you so you don't have to sell them yourself but they take 55% but I could just put it on an RSS
00:22:47
feed and monetize it myself but what Marquez is saying is that it's really
00:22:52
it's got really good discoverability features cuz that's the worst part of Distributing your podcast is getting
00:22:58
people everyone can't have a top five podcast you know so good that it goes out and finds an audience for your video
00:23:05
and is able to learn who will watch it based on who it's successful with is the
00:23:10
host of this hypothetical podcast the most famous Tech reviewer in the world or am I starting really from nothing and
00:23:17
we're talking about audio podcasts right we're talking about whatever format you want and whatever host you want well I
00:23:25
think if you're going the route that 90% of podcast where you have like an established media
00:23:31
brand this is this is not it but if literally no one has ever heard of you
00:23:37
before mhm and you don't feel like you have the ability to make a splash on the internet in any other way which is more
00:23:45
often true yeah yeah but dude you said 55% 55% it's a lot of money yeah that's what
00:23:53
YouTube Forever YouTube That's What YouTube takes of the ad Revenue mhm
00:23:58
that's what we do currently by the way I just described exactly what we do D wow yeah I didn't know they took 55 yeah
00:24:07
wait so the are we being ripped off the point I guess I'm illustrating is that
00:24:13
the tradeoff for eyeballs because of how hard it is to find podcasts is absolutely worth the actual the
00:24:20
difference in in revenue and all the other tools built in yeah and what's I think kind of weird about the well and
00:24:26
here's the other thing which is just Why we can't really is like for Apple podcast maybe we do want to do something
00:24:33
or we are willing to like pay to get a little more eyeballs in the browse feature but like the subscription thing
00:24:38
is we just don't see ourselves as H contributing to that like that feature
00:24:43
itself for us doesn't make sense because we don't have time for extra content like the content we make is very
00:24:49
specific and we just push it to everyone as much as we can like we've tried to do
00:24:55
subscription things multiple times and we just find ourselves as like we want everyone to see this instead but now we
00:25:00
don't get any benefit of being in that browse feature yeah there are a lot of creators that come up with interesting
00:25:06
things to be EXT cont or yeah or early releases and stuff like that and for them when they get this offer they're
00:25:13
like okay we should probably yeah the apple way there are two podcasts that I
00:25:19
have paid subscriptions to that the only way you can listen to them like they don't put out any content for free and
00:25:26
uh clearly I'm cool with that I I want to make sure I think supporting podcasts or just content in general
00:25:33
through subscription stuff like this patreon whatever is awesome like I 100% think it should happen we're lucky
00:25:39
enough that we don't really need to do it and we just like pushing stuff out but there are plenty of people that you
00:25:44
should support and I do with multiple different channels like that is great I like this I just think the browse
00:25:51
feature having five of seven of like doing that when I don't know that feels a little we yeah it makes it so there's
00:25:57
just like a much higher incentive to move towards Apple's kind of podcast
00:26:03
subscription feature and but then what you're doing is you're sort of locking yourself into one platform distribution
00:26:10
yeah just feels bad an inverse relationship between
00:26:15
discoverability and loyalty to or or diversity of platforms right right we
00:26:22
have something so precious with RSS feed like all of the aspirations of the activity Pub which David is
00:26:29
Way full awes your what are
00:26:34
you uh where's your blue sky uh no that's not that was a test and I kind of am a
00:26:42
fan of that now but continue I like yeah it's just like it's just like we should not give into these companies trying to
00:26:49
damage this beautiful yeah ecosystem that we're we're blessed in an extremely non- capitalistic world I really think
00:26:57
that RSS and just like these fire hoses of like publish on it goes everywhere
00:27:02
and whoever decides to build the capture platform you you are competing on the
00:27:09
quality of your capture platform yeah and that's why I think things like we have a lot of diversity in podcast
00:27:16
players like pocketcast is awesome a lot of people like um rip uh Google podcast
00:27:22
though oh yeah that's dead yeah all right did we talk about that no I just figured we were going to throw it in at
00:27:28
the end but Mar a good way to talk about we were going to talk about that briefly but we we could just Loop it into this I
00:27:33
mean yeah um yeah I don't know there's there's a lot of really great podcast players uh and so if if the
00:27:40
consolidation gets pushed more towards like platforms instead of competing just
00:27:46
on the merits of how good the ux design is yeah then that kind of sucks can I at the risk of sounding like a shill play
00:27:53
Devil's Advocate one more time oh you've been sounding like a shill already I know I I'm fully in me but what if what
00:27:59
if one of the features of these podcast platforms is discoverability so like you have a great
00:28:05
UI that's one of the features you have a great download interface and like speeding up fast forwarding cutting silence all that stuff they all do the
00:28:10
basics so one of the features to differentiate yourself as a podcast platform is a discover page that can
00:28:17
find the podcasts that you're interested in and serve them to you that would be a really nice feature that technically is
00:28:23
something they do yeah yeah so that's that's one of the things Apple highlights and while they're at it they
00:28:30
figured they would also give you payal content and give you you know subscription stuff or whatever all that
00:28:35
can be sort of mixed into what separates them as a podcast platform yeah but it's all on top of RSS a really simple
00:28:41
syndication but that's the beauty of RSS is that like if people really felt like
00:28:47
oh I'm not discovering enough podcasts you know new podcasts someone could make
00:28:52
an app that is just a podcast discover and it would be super easy because it just would have to plug into RSS which
00:28:58
is basically activity puff kinda it's it's the same thing you make a different platform that takes the same fire hose
00:29:05
but has a bunch of other features that is what that's the Merit that you're competing for your customers on so you
00:29:11
can make an app that's just we are so focused on podcast discoverability and
00:29:16
that's our focus and then that's why we want you to use the app it doesn't necessarily address
00:29:21
marquez's Devil's Advocate point but I just feel so strongly that all the answers are in RSS both for creators and
00:29:29
these platform the biggest problem is they're not capitalistic enough yeah innovating on top of it is the challenge
00:29:35
so would also be cool if somehow in that RSS whatever like if you did want to do
00:29:40
subscription based things like being able to do it on all of your platforms like why right I do what if I do want to
00:29:48
pay a podcast and get bonus content but it's only available on Apple podcast I don't listen on Apple podcasts watch
00:29:54
have to move everything over there why can't I just like what Apple wants move to Apple you
00:30:01
want the bonusu here's an example too if uh if you there's a podcast it's RSS it's really simple you just get the
00:30:06
episodes and you like it so much you want to donate and only one of the
00:30:12
podcast players has a donate button in it where you can donate directly to them
00:30:17
logical answer is I'll go to that podcast player I'll donate through that
00:30:22
button and that podcast player as a result of surfacing that will probably take a cut of what they just allow the
00:30:30
donation to be so they they give you the discoverability of the donation button
00:30:35
and that's a that's a gift from the platform and then they take a cut of what they're giving you because they're
00:30:41
making it possible for that donation to happen I don't really care about the cut that's there's a cut in everything
00:30:47
patreon has a cut right um it everything has to have a cut I don't really mind that that much if they're offering that
00:30:53
I just think it's weird when with RSS and people listening on a bunch of different things why is only one
00:30:59
platform and it's not Apple's fault that there aren't other ways of doing that and if you do it on an iPhone there's
00:31:06
another cat yeah guys should we make a podcasting app I think we should make a
00:31:12
phone wait no never mind bad idea I don't know I think the moral of the
00:31:18
story here is megaphone at chapters yeah please by the way everyone
00:31:25
Daniel everyone that tells Daniel Daniel everyone so everyone that that begs us
00:31:31
for the chapters we literally can can't do it we want to we want to there's a
00:31:36
specific reason too which is and I'm sure if you ask them they'll repeat the reason which is we have dynamically
00:31:43
inserted ads which are a slightly different length every time yeah which
00:31:48
means that it would break chap plus or minus dynamically inserted chapters up
00:31:55
here yeah dynamically inserted plus or minus dynamically inserted doesn't that mean they're Dynamic and can move if I
00:32:02
Chapter podcast uh CH chapters would be like a clickable like a a link to like
00:32:08
here's the next section it starts at this timestamp here's the next section and every single user has different
00:32:14
timestamps the way our ads work is we just say here's the part in the podcast where this gets inserted and they can
00:32:19
change Those ads through megaphone but like if you're clicking on a chapter you should still know exact it should know
00:32:25
how far in the file you are and then I agree with everything he is just asking questions yeah I think I think a
00:32:32
chat GPT and one grad student could figure out how literally just make this
00:32:38
work but here we are here we are just say just to round it out yeah okay uh I
00:32:45
know that we've talked about it before Google podcast cot announced it was dying last fall R it is officially dead
00:32:52
uh there's a great article by David Pierce who was on the podcast a few weeks ago called Google podcast is gone
00:32:58
and so is my faith in Google I think this article gets written every time Google kills a product but it especially
00:33:04
pretty hard this time he said my faith in Google he specifically said on that episode he has faith that Google Tasks
00:33:10
is going to stay around and I'm starting looks like this yeah looks like sine wave yeah it's a it's a toxic
00:33:17
relationship with Google so yeah it's dead it sucks if you use Google podcast you have to use
00:33:23
YouTube music which is just or apple podcast I don't know man
00:33:28
use I don't I don't know use what you want but but regardless uh rip use
00:33:34
something multiplatform for your own sake which it was yeah just don't use
00:33:39
something multiplatform that's not made by Google pocketcast pocketcast there you go which is now owned by
00:33:45
automatic is that bad no because they own WordPress Tumblr Coca-Cola
00:33:51
Coca-Cola um the shine heart wig Corporation yeah okay none of those are true the green Eminem they um closed the
00:34:00
hole in those Z layer no Andrew no we're in too deep we should take a quick break
00:34:05
which of course means we should do
00:34:10
trivia trivia I hit that trivia button so hard the whole desk just shook I just want everyone to know okay first
00:34:17
question so Google killed Google podcast shocker but Google has killed a ton of
00:34:22
products Google Alo this trivia question has started like this with 100
00:34:28
questions Google domains I knew it that one hits the hardest there's a whole website
00:34:34
dedicated shouts to killed by google.com which of these was not a real product
00:34:39
that Google killed Google thesaurus an early implementation of Google's llm
00:34:45
Transformer efforts with the idea being to leverage context awareness in order to accurately rewrite short sentences
00:34:51
and paragraphs Google compare a data aggregation service for comparing financial services such as car payments
00:34:58
and or credit cards Google showtimes a standalone movie search results page and
00:35:04
Google Trips the precursor to Google travel a streamlined trip planning app with guides to over 200 cities which one
00:35:12
is not real I know the answer maybe I might be wrong you've said that before
00:35:18
dude I have many times I think he's usually right though because I've been waiting to make fun of him for being
00:35:24
wrong on the thing he's so certain about well get ready there's a 50% chance you're going to win this time dang all
00:35:30
right should have just done all messaging apps this is just like an evergreen trivia question I could just do this every week honestly yeah you
00:35:37
could also rip Alo rip inbox that's all I got to say there were so many that I
00:35:43
was like having real feelings about watching scrolling through that list it was crazy yeah inbox well the answers
00:35:49
will be at the end like usual we'll think about it we'll be right
00:35:56
back support for this episode of w for comes
00:36:02
from Shopify so selling things used to be a huge hassle you'd have to load all your spices or jewelry or whatever onto
00:36:08
a horsedrawn wagon and then make a dangerous Journey that would take weeks now we can sell things on the internet
00:36:13
and the entire process takes about 15 minutes and you don't even have to leave your house so it's all thanks to platforms like Shopify Shopify is the
00:36:21
global Commerce platform that's flexible enough to help your business sell at every stage of growth whether that means
00:36:26
getting your new soda brand off the ground or racing to increase production of your stuffed crocodile dolls due to
00:36:31
International demand no matter what you're making Shopify can help you sell it everywhere from their all-in-one
00:36:37
e-commerce platform to their in-person Point of Sales system Shopify offers the flexibility to support your operation
00:36:43
and right now it's easier to stress less and sell more with Shopify magic an AI
00:36:48
powered Little Helper that's created to give you a little boost so you can try it for yourself and see why companies
00:36:54
like all birds and Brook linen have used their platform to power their growth so sign up for a $1 per month trial period
00:37:00
at shopify.com form so go to shopify.com form now to grow your business no matter what stage
00:37:07
you're in shopify.com form this episode is brought to you by visible Wireless okay so visible
00:37:13
Wireless is one of our partners and they're pretty great they asked me to talk about why visible might not be interesting for you pretty refreshing
00:37:20
right so visible based plan with unlimited 5G data on Verizon's Network for 25 bucks a month works great for
00:37:26
lots of people so what's not to love well they're all digital so you do everything from managing your plan to
00:37:32
getting customer service right in their app so if you love to handle everything without ever needing to talk to a human in a store visible is great but if you
00:37:39
need a shop for a new phone in person visible probably isn't for you someone like Verizon might be a better choice if
00:37:44
you want your wireless bundled with a bunch of extra stuff don't switch to visible but heads up you're going to have to pay for that extra stuff visible
00:37:51
is focused on the wireless part of Wireless so if you want more than unlimited 5G data from your Wireless
00:37:56
plan and to pay top dollar for it then by all means don't switch to visible don't even go to visible.com to learn
00:38:02
more you get it rate with service on the visible plan traditional terms and network management practices CV
00:38:07
visible.com all right welcome back speaking of things that Google is bad at
00:38:14
um because this is a PS away from the last the trivia question googleing thingscast it's better when you explain
00:38:21
it yeah Google Google's also really bad at keeping things a secret you've
00:38:26
noticed how they leak like their own products on the regular to the point where it's a meme yeah turns out they
00:38:32
can't keep other people's Secrets either you don't want to be friends with sorry that was a really long
00:38:37
segue really long segue to say that uh Google ended up saying on an Android
00:38:43
website that apple is bringing RCS to the iPhone in Fall of 2024 we didn't know when it would be we knew it would
00:38:48
be sometime in 2024 yeah now it appears that Google has accidentally told everyone that it will be fall of 2024
00:38:55
yeah we don't know yet what this actually looks like yeah we know that the iPhone will support RCS if I was
00:39:03
guessing it'll still be a green bubble it'll still not support all the features of iMessage it'll still be very heavily
00:39:09
segregated of this guy has an iPhone and this guy doesn't but fall 2024 it'll be
00:39:15
encrypted it WS anymore it won't be unsafe exclusive to the iPhone 16
00:39:21
Pro that would be brutal I would be brutal we just buy our mom a new iPhone
00:39:29
is the thing yeah know I think that's that's basically it yeah we talked a little bit last week about the uh Department of Justice's antitrust
00:39:35
lawsuit against apple and how that's a whole big thing that's starting and probably going to be going for a long time years uh and one of the one of the
00:39:43
sort of pillars of it was the blue versus green bubbles so it's still TBD what this support looks like but now you
00:39:51
know yeah fall I have a question for David uh you said that when Apple
00:39:57
implements RCS you're switching to an Android phone mhm so what phone are you going to pick this fall if SL when this happens what's like
00:40:05
top like I'm getting this one the phone I want to try the most right now is the
00:40:10
s24 ultra okay I will say I have been between reviews I have been returning to
00:40:16
the s24 ultra the most and it's an incredibly good phone yeah and I kind of
00:40:22
for a while was like let me hit the pixel up one more time let me go back to the pixel a pro and for this this past week weekend I was on Pixel 8 Pro and
00:40:28
it's it's really close but the s24 ultra I think is the best Android phone out
00:40:33
right now I love my regular s24 and I'm sure the ultra if you're down with the bigger phone is probably way more really
00:40:40
into the flat sides and the texture of the metal the flat sides I will give a lot of credit to the incredible display
00:40:46
the anti-reflective coating on the display the really really fast fingerprint reader just like having an
00:40:51
optical fingerprint reader on the pixel just very quickly yeah became obviously slower yeah yeah it's a good phone
00:40:58
can I throw something out there that maybe our audience can help us with because it's something Marquez and I have had an issue with on our phones and
00:41:04
I can't figure out the setting to change it yeah so if a floating notification comes up on when you're inside the phone
00:41:10
if you accidentally swipe that notification it makes a popup app and I hate popup apps yeah they're the worst I
00:41:18
hate them it's a picture and it's like picture and picture like picture called message bubbles or something I think
00:41:23
it's a little different notification bubbles slightly slightly different from soic bubbles are one thing they baked
00:41:29
that into Android after it got popular through Facebook Messenger yeah and this is slightly different from that it is
00:41:34
specifically Samsung's picture and picture window over a it's a smaller version of the app over the top of
00:41:41
whatever's in the background I don't like that I don't like it I understand why some people would like it my problem
00:41:47
is is like when the the notification bubble comes up I think I turned it off so if I click it it won't do that no no
00:41:56
no never mind I don't know how to do it if you click it it just comes up in the app if you swipe down accidentally like
00:42:02
so if you click it but you just pull a little bit it turns it into that window and then every time I have to hit the maximize button and go up again and I
00:42:09
haven't figured out how to do it there's ways you can like disable popups but that's more along the lines of like
00:42:15
notification itself or if you're in like Google Maps and you swipe away and it pop stays as a floating thing like and
00:42:20
then I disabled them all and then realized like oh I don't have YouTube player as a pop-up thing outside of an app anymore or Google Maps as that and I
00:42:27
can't figure out this one thing and it's driving me crazy so please if you know
00:42:33
how to fix it let Samsung I have a a quick Pro tip for anyone that's thinking of getting the s24 ultra mhm just get
00:42:40
the champagne model is that what it's called yeah titanium titanium yes just get that one everybody's doing titanium
00:42:46
now I got the black one because I was like everyone's getting to Titanium I want to be different the titanium's so
00:42:52
pretty I I'll trade with you I love my I kind of want a black one oh let's do it
00:42:58
we'll trade right now cu the titanium it's nice you have the same storage uh that's a great question uh I don't know
00:43:04
we'll figure it out later but I I kind of want a black phone I like the black one but the titanium's just so pretty are the fingerprints bad or you have a
00:43:10
case so it doesn't matter I got a case whatever there's something I I have the orange one and even though it's in a case like you can just still see that
00:43:17
like light Shimmer on the three cameras just like do it exactly the same as you move it I think it looks fantastic which
00:43:24
uh which Samsung phone do you have
00:43:29
hash ad no we I I I think that phone is is really where were we we were talking
00:43:35
about yeah I was G to try I was going to try to pull us back but while we're talking about Samsung I do want to note something real quick so I don't really
00:43:42
watch TV ever um yeah but I recently am watching like this limited series with a
00:43:49
friend of mine called the regime which is sort of about this like Russia esque
00:43:55
country that like gets away from it's like a global po I don't know it's it's a limited series it's six episodes but
00:44:02
the amount of Samsung product placement in that show is insane everyone has an
00:44:09
s24 and every TV is the serap TV that's like the LCD TV but it it's like really
00:44:15
pretty and has TV yeah and it's just every every single piece ofit don't you have that TV what TV do you have no I
00:44:21
don't have that I don't have a TV oh I don't watch that type of stuff takes me out of a movie it's it it is really
00:44:29
subtle because again like the s24 looks like a generic generate me a phone
00:44:35
that's what the s24 looks like true and the serif TV is like it just kind of looks like a fancy TV and it's also on
00:44:41
it has legs so they just have it sitting in the middle of the room because it's supposed to be an extremely fancy like Castle so it kind of makes sense it
00:44:48
takes me out of it if it's like a very specific phone or the shot when it like the shot oh they're using a surface Duo
00:44:56
to like yes yes they also uh they have a couple Galaxy folds in the show as well
00:45:02
but it they're always open and they all they never have a crease cuz it's like super imposed and then there's a couple
00:45:09
shots where they like close it and I'm like there's no branding attached to it but it's so obvious to me they're trying
00:45:14
to sublimely get Samsung in people's heads I wonder about that they also have Rolls-Royce product placement because
00:45:21
they had the rolls the the electric Rolls-Royce that we reviewed the Spectre
00:45:26
in the show and there's like two shots where the camera is just directed at the wheel with the Rolls-Royce logo okay
00:45:32
what do you think is less effective product placement in a Hollywood Blockbuster movie or a billboard right
00:45:39
over the Lincoln Tunnel as far as like effectiveness of how many dollars you just spent versus how many customers I
00:45:46
think the billboard over the Lincoln Tunnel is just brand awareness it's like it just slams it into your head every
00:45:52
day and I mean the Rolls-Royce closeup is kind of also the same thing yeah but you only see it once
00:45:57
here's myboard you see him a million times a billboard you look at you're expecting an ad a TV show you're
00:46:03
watching you don't want an ad in the middle of it so like yeah like if I'm
00:46:09
looking at a billboard I'm like okay what was I expecting like I was expecting that to not try and sell me
00:46:15
something whereas like I'm watching a TV show and it's just like they just take this really close-up selfie with like a
00:46:21
Google pixel like right in the camera like that that hits different though right cuz like I don't it annoys me when
00:46:27
I see a billboard my brain just like blacks it out I don't actually know what
00:46:33
was on that billboard Once I pass it you ask which one is more effective not if either of them are they're both
00:46:39
incredibly ineffective I think your subconscious does know though cuz it's the same thing as like uh as like
00:46:45
Jingles like it's it's in your head in this way where like when you think of oh
00:46:50
what do I want for lunch and McDonald's it's just kind of there yeah I think we all underestimate how effective those are I have no idea I think if if you had
00:46:57
a form in front of me and you were like how affected are you by ads I would just go no not at all I look at the reviews I
00:47:03
objectively pick the better product I don't care but like it's the first thing you think of when you think of that category very effective it's really
00:47:10
effective Jess used to work at an advertising company and she would be like the amount of like data they have
00:47:16
that shows how effective it is will scare you it's very effective like she'll we'll be watching a show and she'll be like oh that was product
00:47:22
placement and I was like what are you talking about and she'll like rewinded 10 seconds and it's like oh yeah they picked up like a very particular brand
00:47:27
of phone or something I needed to I need I need an experiment where like people watch two different versions of a movie
00:47:34
and then after they go all right buy a speaker online and they see how many of them buy the beat speaker cuz they saw
00:47:39
the beat I'm sure that's been done I want that you could do that by just one one group watches it with the placement
00:47:45
one watches it without it and then they go purchase something afterwards and see if it yeah that study has to have been
00:47:50
done I will I'll be looking for it afterwards on statista or something I encountered my first siif TV in a really
00:47:58
crazy product placement I don't think it was like actually like they paid to put it in there but I saw the serf TV for
00:48:05
the first time in a museum that makes sense like as not like it was on the
00:48:10
wall showing something like it was the plaqu said Samsung serah TV designed by
00:48:16
it was it was designed by a pretty famous pair of designers named the burc brothers so and it was an exhibit about
00:48:23
their design but that feels Addy to me it feels a little Addy but you know
00:48:28
what's so sad about that TV it's a beautiful TV with one of their worst displays that they made it's so true
00:48:34
it's it's that's why it feels it's an IPS LCD display it's an LCD and they
00:48:40
have all of these OLED TVs and they made it a freaking LC does Samsung have or they right well anything that's not LCD
00:48:47
you know I'm just Mak yeah yeah it it has legs has legs that is really cool and you can play avatars in meta Quest
00:48:54
don't even have legs speaking of avatars wait wait okay damn that was so good why are you
00:49:01
why are you stopping that I just wanted to what did you what and then Andrew will say it again yeah
00:49:07
you say that okay just to round out this like RCS thing um as part of the
00:49:13
Department of Justice filing they note that apple is did say they were going to
00:49:18
support RCS but Apple only said that they were they only committed to
00:49:24
supporting the 2019 vers version of RCs with no commitment to updating as the standard
00:49:31
evolved um and as I understand right now they are working with the gsma to
00:49:38
develop a open- sourced encryption protocol because they don't want to go through Google which makes a lot of
00:49:44
sense but again still going to be a green bubble it's going to support the
00:49:49
absolute Basics Min it's not going to have any of the iMessage stuff and I
00:49:54
think that at this point the green bubble versus blue bubble Paradigm is already so strong that they're probably
00:50:00
just like all right we'll play ball and it won't really matter okay wait I have a question about that that you just
00:50:05
brought up yeah that I just thought of when you were saying that so you don't think it would be a different color than
00:50:12
green because what happens if you do get a text from something that's not RCS that's a good point you know like what
00:50:17
if someone I think they'll keep it green just different shades of green pink bubble would be so fun I think I
00:50:24
think if I was guessing cuz we don't really know I'm guessing they will all just be green I think SMS and RCS will
00:50:30
all just still be green I think so but then how will you know it be iPhone or not iPhone I just don't think they care
00:50:36
and there will be the slight difference of like your mom can send you a higher resolution video now it's like the RCs
00:50:43
advantages to some extent will be there if I send you a highres video it'll still it'll work but if I'm like texting
00:50:49
my dad who has RCS turned on and my mom who has RCS turned off as a regular user
00:50:55
I'm not going to understand the difference if they're I'm like how come the image is clear with you and blurry with you yeah by
00:51:00
your mom and RCS from what I understand the reason that they made IM message Blue is
00:51:05
because they or the way reason they made Android messages green on iPhones is because they wanted to denote that you
00:51:11
were paying for the SMS text because at the time you none of these carriers had
00:51:16
unlimited texting and so you had to pay per text or you had 100 per month or something like that I remember I had a
00:51:22
100 per month and I begged my mom every month I was like please move me unlimited it's $5 more and get 200 no I
00:51:30
was like and that counted for outbound and inbound messages oh no I remember my mom being like this is how many text
00:51:36
like this is what you have to pay me this month because you went over these text I was on a family plan my sister was cooking all the minutes I didn't
00:51:43
have any text left get it you guys are old Adam you right here with us yeah
00:51:48
you're older than me yeah so blue is over the internet and it was free yeah so it was free so that was that was the
00:51:53
sort of like Den notion they were trying to like portray to people but I agree with you I think they're all going to be green and I don't think
00:52:00
they're going to have they might have a little check mark in the bottom or something that shows that it was like internet related but I I really think
00:52:07
they're going to make it as Bare Bones as possible just to say we care about
00:52:12
security so well wait I got one I got one well it seems like Apple's RCS roll
00:52:21
out date is still up in the air which you could kind of say means it's a floating date
00:52:28
speaking it's going to be I it's going to be coming out with the new iPhone because it's going to be iOS 18 sorry I
00:52:34
just ruined that whole thing I'm sorry please complete the wait wait before you finish
00:52:41
that I am hopeful that at WWDC when they
00:52:46
release the betas of iOS 18 if it's included in the betas that' be nice so
00:52:52
that would so we could start using it in June would be great anyway does that still can you still segue can
00:52:59
we should we just say it again it well it seems like uh seems like it's still kind of
00:53:05
floating up in the air just like speaking of floating there was a recent Vision Pro
00:53:12
OS update did you guys see this Vision OS Vision OS 1.1 uhu big update to uh
00:53:19
shared experiences which is a big deal I made a video a week after Vision Pro
00:53:24
came out about the things that were missing from Vision Pro and my first and most I think
00:53:30
significant thing missing from the Vision Pro experience which is has been in VR headsets forever is shared
00:53:36
experiences meaning you and I both have a headset on we're in different places but we're looking at the same virtual
00:53:42
thing at the same time very basic thing it seems like one of those things where I'm sure there were people who bought
00:53:48
the Vision Pro went in and were like wait this doesn't have that like how it
00:53:53
seems like such an obvious thing to start with it feels like they probably were planning on
00:53:58
it they probably knew they were going to launch this right after the headset pretty long WDC when they announced the
00:54:05
Vision Pro one of the developer sessions said it was coming and showed how to implement it when it did ship so the
00:54:12
update is most of the time uh when you're doing uh how do I how do I
00:54:18
explain this you've seen the personas right it's like a in a little glass window you kind of look at the person
00:54:23
and it's their face and their like shoulders and they're kind of floating so there is now a button wanting you're
00:54:30
in certain experiences to enable spal personas and when you do that the glass
00:54:36
windows around the personas go away and the Persona is a little floating ghost
00:54:43
person and it's surprising again all the things that were good about FaceTime are are now good about spatial FaceTime
00:54:50
which is the person's audio sounds like it's coming from the place in the room where it is and when you look at people
00:54:56
you're now all in a room together so I did this this first demo where I was on
00:55:01
FaceTime with two other people and the person one was to my right and the person two was to my left and when they looked at each other they looked like
00:55:08
they were looking at each other and not at me and when one of them looked at me I was looking at her and when I looked at the other one they you know what I
00:55:15
mean like it was it was spatially accurate yeah heights were also correctly represented so if we all stood
00:55:20
up the headset can see how far from the ground we are I could see that I was the tallest one in the group because I was looking down at the other ghost I mean
00:55:28
spatial Persona um yeah it it worked and you could you could sort of enable this in a couple different experiences there
00:55:33
are several apps that they had beta versions of that would uh allow us to play with this so jig space which is the
00:55:39
one we've all seen with the F Formula 1 car you could pull the engine off and you can look at the wheels and stuff like that jig space had a demo where
00:55:46
they supported the spatial spatial personas right off the bat I like ghosts let's keep calling it
00:55:51
ghosts he support the ghosts and right away it was exactly the way Cleo and I described it in her video which was let
00:55:58
me show you this yeah you see the object I move the object you see the way I moved it if I wanted to point the engine
00:56:04
at you I would literally take it and manipulate it in space and point it at you and you would see it pointed at you
00:56:10
yeah so all of that uh interaction with objects in 3D space is starting to roll
00:56:17
out now they had uh I think was like one or two Apple apps like the keynote app and jigspace and one or two other things
00:56:24
Apple TV you can watch videos in a virtual theater where you're in the middle seat and the per people behind
00:56:29
you have a further back seat all that stuff you could walk around the theater it was cool um so that's that's new
00:56:36
that's finally you can you can do the thing that you were doing oh you can do environments as well right so I did this
00:56:42
thing where I played chess uh with uh the group and there was three people and we were all sitting around a chess table
00:56:48
or no cards sorry we were playing cards three player chess sorry multiplayer
00:56:53
chess but four four people all sat around a table we were playing card game we turned on the environment and so if
00:56:59
we all turned on the environment at once we'd all be in the same environment we could all look around and see the same things so we all saw the same board I
00:57:05
played my cards they all saw it then the next person played their cards they all saw it it just it's it's the way we have
00:57:11
been doing virtual C years yeah but I thought you said you were playing chess I I did chess with one other person but
00:57:17
then I did cards with four people I was like yeah four person chess is not four
00:57:22
person chess with cards yeah it's a weird game but that that is real now board game game simulator with that
00:57:28
which I'm pretty sure is available in probably Quest already and probably VI it is it is it's been around for a very
00:57:34
long time that seems to be the cool stuff in like VR that would be really fun is like a bunch of board games cuz like right still playing chess I could
00:57:42
see being Fun Cards feels like one of those gimmicky things like look we can do spal ghosts or whatever the quite
00:57:49
limited on what card games you can play cuz the games that I play most with groups are like speed ory rat slap yeah
00:57:57
and those games are games that require like rapid movements in front of each other yeah this wouldn't work as well
00:58:02
that wouldn't work that well but I will say my two biggest takeaways from having a demo of it were one the ghosts
00:58:10
look bad better well they look okay I mean the hands are much more prominent
00:58:17
so you know how you could see like hands in front of your face when you did a face time through the glass window the
00:58:22
hands are like always visible now so it kind of looks like a like a Wii character you've seen the Wii characters
00:58:28
where the hands are always there and then the body is kind of floating you sound like someone who like just gave a friend a present and they open it and
00:58:35
they're not very excited and so you're trying to explain why it's really cool and they're just not buying it at all I
00:58:40
guess if you if you compare this to what I was just doing in the quest it it is obviously a very different experience
00:58:47
but the other version of that is the quest has much more massive immersive
00:58:53
environments to move around in and I still don't really have that on Vision Pro yet haven't seen that yet obviously
00:58:59
having a chessboard is cool in front of you everyone can interact with it obviously being in a theater where everyone watches the same video is
00:59:05
pretty cool yeah but having like a huge map where you can run around and play games and all this stuff is not a thing
00:59:12
on Vision Pro yet yeah here's a question I have and maybe you still haven't used
00:59:18
it or either of them quite enough but like I'm still interested in the if the
00:59:23
Avatar is realistic versus like specifically an avatar and like what
00:59:29
feels better especially because the realistic avatars in The Vision Pro right now clearly still have a lot of
00:59:35
work to do and aren't overly realistic beta yeah so like is that does that feel
00:59:40
more real and more like fun or like if you just know that you can't get that realistic to have your own personal
00:59:47
Avatar that looks kind of like you but it's clearly a cartoon is that more like immersive cuz you're just in the whole
00:59:53
world like that it's a really good question I think that's exactly where it comes down to taste like when I look at
01:00:00
the the Apple Persona especially in the glass window I can see how it feels
01:00:06
realistic like a real conversation but when you take the glass window away like the side of your head just Fades into
01:00:12
clear and your shoulders Fade Into clear and your your hair Fades into clear and I if you if you look away from me I just
01:00:18
see like a ghost outline of you with floating hands so it doesn't look realistic which means I look at it I'm
01:00:24
like this has a long way to but it's if it's a cartoon it doesn't
01:00:29
have any of those clear fadeaway downsides I didn't scan the top or the back of my head but now it's a cartoon
01:00:36
so it's not it's it is further along because you can see more of me more often in the cartoon but it's also not
01:00:41
as far along you know I think sometimes in VR though it's really easy to be like it can be immersive without being
01:00:48
realistic and like if the Avatar matches the environment you're with and once
01:00:53
you're in there for like 10 20 minutes and then you're in there for a while that's when you have that like I took
01:00:58
the headset off and it's like whoa yeah I I was really into that and that's I
01:01:03
could see it being more immersive despite being less realistic it's also a use case thing too like immersive versus
01:01:10
realistic in gaming I want immersive but in a a a meeting over a
01:01:16
keynote I don't know I kind of just want like if I'm doing it if I'm doing a business meeting which I think is kind
01:01:22
of what Apple actually thinks some people are going to do with this and I'm showing you a thing on a presentation if
01:01:28
it's a cartoon it's like I'm not trying to take that seriously but is it more distracting when it's like it's a
01:01:34
cartoon you're expecting a cartoon versus it's David but the left half of his face is missing because he keeps
01:01:39
turning to the right and like his ears are like glued to his head and like he's fuzzy all over like sometimes I feel
01:01:45
like if you're trying too hard to be realistic and it's not that feels feels way less immersive meta leaned really
01:01:52
hard into the cartoons and I just think that that didn't age very well and it
01:01:58
just feels it makes it very hard for them to be like a this is a business like kind of thing I totally agree with
01:02:04
that and I'm not one way or the other but I I don't know which one would feel better so you know what I think the main
01:02:10
challenge is is Apple wants the scan process to be as easy as possible for as
01:02:17
many people as possible but I think if you were to do like a much more detailed
01:02:22
like twom minute long scan process you could have an amazing yeah uh Persona kind of like the way
01:02:28
like some people like set up like a mirrorless camera with a USB cable into their computer to be like their webcam
01:02:34
and that's a small fraction of people and most people will never want to do that but for the people who actually want to put in the work it can look way
01:02:39
better yeah I think if there are some fraction of people who are like I'm going to give a work presentation I need the highres like good scan I'm not going
01:02:45
to do the 12 second scan that Apple makes you do for FaceTime I'm going to do the big high res full torso scan so I
01:02:52
can like have a good looking realistic persona I think that if you buy the
01:02:57
vision pro at an Apple store they should have like a setup and take it out and do
01:03:03
this help you do the scan with like studio lights and stuff they should do that well like what
01:03:08
you're talking about does not exist right even I think nice the best scan
01:03:14
possible with lights I still think would look sketchy it's it's definitely better
01:03:20
in this update than it was originally like it's it's better at the hair cutouts and stuff like that um and the
01:03:25
textures of the face are slightly improved it has a long way to go for sure um I I wanted to note something
01:03:32
about the the presence of the ghosts or spatial personas I do think that this is
01:03:39
a much bigger deal that this is finally coming out Than People sort of realize
01:03:45
because before it felt like there was pretty much literally nothing to do with the Vision Pro except maybe like watch a
01:03:52
movie that felt like a good or meaningful or better experience and the
01:03:58
arc that this is moving towards with the spatial Pros is actually feeling the presence of like being in a room with
01:04:05
someone and doing something with someone I think is like the biggest value proposition of this because already
01:04:11
people talk about the metaverse right uh Tim Sweeney loves to talk about the fact that kids now get on fortnite and it's
01:04:18
it's kind of like they're in a room together right they're all on Discord They're all playing fortnite you're going to a concert together and the
01:04:24
whole thing about that is you're doing it with your friends but there's not re the the limit of presence in a fortnite
01:04:30
concert is that you're all on Discord together but the closer you can get to like this is my space someone's sitting
01:04:37
right next to me we're doing this thing together I think it's really awesome because if you're across the world and it really feels like there's a person
01:04:44
like right next to you that is incentive for me to put on a Vision Pro and actually hang out with somebody I would
01:04:50
rather do that than just get on Discord with them and talk to them over that or even the quest if you had like a cartoon
01:04:57
version of them right that's even though you're in the same place it doesn't feel like doesn't feel real yeah they're
01:05:02
still in the uncanny valley with the scans and everything and that needs to get better for sure um but I think that
01:05:08
for the future of Vision Pro and going from like this headset doesn't make
01:05:14
sense to buy at all to like I can see where they're going with this where this will be incredible and people actually
01:05:20
might want to buy it makes a lot of sense um also one cool thing about the
01:05:25
if you're using Apple TV which I hope that they enable this in other streaming apps but they probably won't I don't
01:05:31
know something that's cool is if you are watching a movie together or a show together or something even though you
01:05:36
see them sitting right standing right next to you like or sitting right next to you watching the show um the TV will
01:05:44
be perfectly aligned for both of you so if you're both in the movie theater and your character is like sitting at the
01:05:51
direct center of the movie theater even if you see your friends sitting to the
01:05:56
right to them they're in the direct Center yeah so you always get the best experience even when you're hanging out
01:06:01
with your friends kind of cool one com in late and you're like oh I got the bad seat again for this for the movie you're
01:06:08
always late to the FaceTime H the back one time I I watched a movie in the theater and we booked tickets at the
01:06:13
very last minute and we were literally first row and it was a massive screen it was so name of painful yeah do not buy
01:06:21
that ticket yeah um anyway I yeah I think it kind of plays into Theo's thesis for her video which was this is a
01:06:26
teleportation machine and I think that's going to be the most valuable value
01:06:32
proposition did you say Cleo or Theo oh you said Theo thesis they said
01:06:38
theisle Theo theosis yeah cleos thesis about it
01:06:44
being a teleportation machine I think that I can see us getting there slow
01:06:50
which is cool the Fidelity of everything that's not the ghosts is pretty good yeah like the audio yeah the sounds the
01:06:57
the objects that we're manipulating in front of each other like that all that stuff is like really good yeah so it's just the ghosts that are a little and
01:07:02
ironically Apple being super obsessive about things being exactly as they were being would be in real life like for
01:07:09
example having to like pick up a window and carry it with you that obsessiveness is annoying but I think that they're
01:07:17
trying to program into people's heads that this is a real object except that it's not you know yeah I still wish that
01:07:24
you could pin windows was in front of you but that was the second biggest point in our video so it has to be coming next has to be I hope so that is
01:07:32
great I'm I'm going to keep using that we'll keep playing with it but of course we have a lot more to talk about so
01:07:37
we'll take a quick break and before we do that we should do a little bit of
01:07:43
trivia trivia dude so last week on our autofocus
01:07:50
Channel we put out our vinfast 8 review f8 Excuse me yes vinfast Vin fast 8 yes
01:08:00
mhm of course did we confirm that's what it stands for yep I mean what else would it stand I don't know very
01:08:07
fast Jinx you owe me a soda but I don't drink soda so you can give me something else how Ellis Ren ah there we go I got
01:08:15
all right so in doing some research on vinfast we learned that VIN fast's
01:08:21
parent company the VIN group is a massive massive company so naturally
01:08:28
which of the following is not a real vinfast subsidiary Vin VIN group
01:08:35
subsidiary thank you VIN group subsidiary a vinome a real estate
01:08:41
development company oh my God B Vin Mech a chain of seven hospitals and two
01:08:48
health clinics C Vin University a higher
01:08:53
education institution that is was partnered with two ivy league universities I really hope
01:09:01
not or d vincha a chain of tea houses
01:09:06
housed inside their vinmart plus convenience stores epic wait that's real
01:09:13
what one of those is real or one of them is fake one of them is fake three of them are real that's awesome Lord okay
01:09:21
dang wow we'll be right back yeah
01:09:33
support for this show comes from netw Suite let's do some quick math so the less your business spends on operations
01:09:39
or multiple systems the more margin you'll have and that equals more money in your pocket but with higher expenses
01:09:45
on materials employees distribution and borrowing I mean everything seems to cost more so to reduce costs and
01:09:52
headaches smart businesses are graduating to Nets Suite by Oracle so netsuite is a leading Cloud Financial
01:09:57
system bringing accounting financial management inventory and HR into one platform and one source of Truth and so
01:10:04

01:11:55
to to talk about an eeve we've talked about before sort of and got a lot of things wrong about it but we'll get
01:12:01
everything right about it today okay the xiaomi su7 oh first off it's not an SUV
01:12:08
despite the name sounding exactly like an SUV yeah it's a car it's a car it's a very good looking you we've all seen it
01:12:14
right yeah it looks it's a McLaren Porsche model 3 I think it looks great which I'm fine with bro I think it looks
01:12:20
awesome I don't care if it doesn't have the me I can't get over the xiaomi logo on the front of it just because of how
01:12:25
much I associate that logo to phones and it's weird seeing that on a c do you not like how it looks no that's like the
01:12:31
logo I'm I agree with you on the logo it's like the boot screen from the xiaomi phones I love that you like it on
01:12:37
the on the car yeah I do I think we are the only people who might like not really like it cuz it just feels cuz
01:12:44
we're in this fil I like it because like crazy people make Concepts that of these
01:12:50
things all the time and it feels like a concept that came to life it feels like Apple car yeah what would the Apple car
01:12:56
have an Apple logo right on the front of it definitely I think so which is be strange that would be really strange um
01:13:03
but so the xiaomi s27 orders went out this past week in China in
01:13:09
China 90,000 people put an $800 deposit down in the first 24 hours of the orders
01:13:16
being opened W refundable or a nonrefundable I'm not 100% sure it's a deposit though which feels very much
01:13:23
different than a reservation oh interesting so I read deposit and assumed deposit but even refundable $800
01:13:30
is way more than the $100 refundable one even if it is refundable and 90,000 in
01:13:35
24 hours is pretty pretty crazy yeah um still going to be about seven months
01:13:41
before delivery start but they had a big event where some people got to go actually check the car out um and
01:13:48
someone named telescope I believe their channel is did a pretty cool video showing all of it um highly suggest
01:13:55
going to watch it if you want to see what the car looks like it looks really cool inside and outside and he had some great things to say about it but it also
01:14:01
is a review unit at a event not actually living day-to-day with it and seven months before it comes out and seven
01:14:07
months before it comes out but it is an actual car that multiple people were
01:14:12
driving around MH so it seems like we're much closer to it um I guess there's kind of a couple things I wanted to talk
01:14:18
about some in the video and some but let's just go over the specs for everything first um because I think we have like the more overview of all the
01:14:26
exact specs of everything so there's gonna be three models the standard the pro and the max it's a phone yeah I didn't even put that
01:14:32
together yeah it's a phone that's very funny yeah there's a lot of phone relevancies here which makes total sense
01:14:40
um so the standard comes in at around 30,000 uh rear whe rear wheeel drive 400
01:14:46
volt architecture 295 horsepower 73.6 KW battery approximately 343 Mi of cltc
01:14:54
range range my calculations from that based on the EPA generally being 35 or
01:15:01
cltc is 35% more than EPA so I tried to do the calculations for all this would be about 250 miles yeah sltc is China's
01:15:09
version of the EPA which is looks great on paper baby way bigger numbers than we
01:15:14
yeah yeah um the pro version 34,000 rear whe Drive upgraded to an 800v
01:15:22
architecture 94.3 KW battery this is the one with the most range because it's
01:15:27
single motor and the bigger battery 515 M of cltc range which is a about 375
01:15:34
miles EPA which is still a great number good number um max version that's where
01:15:40
you get 504 miles of cltc range which is about 370 Mi of vpa range 663 horsepower
01:15:46
0 to 100 kilm an hour which is about 0 to 60 2.78 seconds you look I okay don't
01:15:54
believe it claimed specs are always a funny thing claimed specs for sure okay observation
01:16:03
number one there's three versions standard Pro and Max uh if if I use
01:16:08
Tesla as a precedent they're going to probably start with the most expensive ones and then work their way down very
01:16:13
interesting on that which I have in here is they are saying that the cheaper versions are actually going to be the
01:16:18
ones shipping quicker hold on I have the actual dates in here bonkers the cheaper model which is between 30 and 34,000
01:16:26
should be arriving in 18 to 21 weeks and the more expensive one at 41,000 is in about 30 weeks so we probably won't see
01:16:31
that till almost beginning of next year okay that is really interesting I like that observation number two mhm the
01:16:38
cheap one has a 400 fa architecture and the more expensive one has an 800 volt
01:16:43
architecture what why I don't know what that means so the I would hope you would explain that yeah I well that's just
01:16:51
different Hardware but also a whole different development process for both like I would I would imagine if you did
01:16:57
all the R&D for an 800 volt architecture you just put it in all your cars but more
01:17:03
expensive it's expensive to develop and I I think it's less materials to actually install so I I'm not an expert
01:17:10
obviously but to me if you spent all the money to develop an 800 Vol architecture why also spend the money to
01:17:17
develop a 400 volt architecture to put in the cheaper car when it's just I don't know that one's a little confusing
01:17:22
to me I've never seen that before I've never seen one car with two different architectures uh 800 volt and 400 Vol is
01:17:29
possible that they're all 800 but they limit it to 400 I just saw it gets the update to 800
01:17:35
Vol there's a hard I know zero about nothing there's a hardware component to
01:17:40
this okay which is why I would say no I do want to look real quick it said mentioned something about using byd byd
01:17:48
batteries is that the manufacturer doar by is a gigantic EV manufacturer in
01:17:53
China they pass Tesla in sales popular could that possibly be it are they using
01:17:59
well there's the battery and there's the wires around that the drivetrain the the
01:18:05
everything in between like there's just a lot of wiring in a car and I've just
01:18:11
never seen that before so that's stood out to me I feel I feel like that's notable um I do not know enough about
01:18:18
that yeah to say if it's notable or not number three is the specs for the price
01:18:24
seem incredible and if they deliver on a $42,000 car that does 0 to 60 in 2.78
01:18:30
seconds and has 660 horsepower and 370 Mi of range that is unbelievably good
01:18:37
just as far as specs on paper nothing about design build quality software just those specs for that price is incredible
01:18:46
if they deliver that it will probably cost more to ship one from China to here and it'll probably cost more to buy one here but that's also standing out to me
01:18:53
on paper I am also assuming that all of these prices are the start of that trim
01:18:58
because obviously there's a bunch of things you can add even if you start at a specific trim yeah um but still yeah I
01:19:04
mean these prices they in all the articles that I read were very specifically mentioning about how it's undercutting model 3 and that seems to
01:19:11
be their big and if you're thinking about a company that could do it it's probably one of the largest tech comp
01:19:16
like they have the money to do this they're not this brand new company starting up and only doing this they
01:19:23
make literally everything that has an onoff switchy it's funny when you look at some I think a lot of people don't
01:19:29
realize how big these companies are like yes they're new to vehicles but they're huge companies like vinfast when we review the vf8 on autofocus they're
01:19:37
newish to making vehicles but they are a gigantic company they have like music
01:19:43
festivals they have like an enormous amount of things they already do so yeah
01:19:48
this uh this xiaomi car will have the benefit of I guess also with 990,000 pre-orders they know they're gonna have some volume so that's that's good do you
01:19:55
know if there's special xiaomi phone integration yes I I know a little bit
01:20:01
about it which is one of the very funny things I found out about this so like what is cool about this is not only just
01:20:07
like like we're looking at a different level of ecosystem here now of actually having a car that is part of your
01:20:13
ecosystem and I know we mostly talk about here as apple as the best but like in China xiaomi phones are wildly
01:20:20
popular not just their phones but like potentially everything like I said with an on andof switch so it could be in
01:20:26
your ecosystem and it connects to everything the funny thing is inside the
01:20:32
car there's tablets on the back in one of the trims of each of the driver the front seats so the back seat has it
01:20:39
apparently their iPads the guy said the video I watched that telescope said there were iPads in
01:20:45
that you could connect an iPhone to and have it what I thought that was so funny
01:20:52
okay specifically the tablets in the back yeah should we be happy about this I don't know I that voice cor is it is
01:21:00
it a because if this was just like the whole I mean we were just talking about
01:21:06
the antitrust thing where like only Apple watch works with iPhone works with okay yeah something I was going to say
01:21:13
like xiaomi is a massive company in China with a massive ecosystem and they do have integration with other xiaomi
01:21:20
products but they're not like it's not the same thing where like you can use the xiaomi product with this other
01:21:26
xiaomi product generally they're like you can bake it into your ecosystem in any way you want cuz it does feel
01:21:32
extraordinarily easy to just picture this in your head being a xiaomi tablet and the only things that work are they
01:21:38
make tablets yeah so that why AR surprise why AR what I don't know it's
01:21:45
very funny especially because like iPhones are not very popular in China where this is mostly going to be sold so
01:21:52
um there are some other cool things in side of the actual car the one thing I thought was the coolest is the
01:21:59
touchcreen in the front for the driver side that like we all arew that touch screens are becoming super popular and
01:22:05
whether we like it or not they have a magnetic attachment that you can get in your trim that adds physical buttons to
01:22:12
the bottom of the oh the thing so if you want physical buttons there XI are
01:22:18
that's an attachment for the touch screen that you can pay extra for that should be in every single fo car with a
01:22:25
touchcreen I you know what I hope this car comes out I think it looks like we
01:22:30
were talking about probably last time we saw this car it looks like a Porsche it looks 70% Porsche 20% McLaren
01:22:40
10% Like Audi and Tesla and and 1% a xiaomi phone and yeah it's got the logo
01:22:46
and it's got look if they can deliver on those specs to price that is going to be really interesting and I'm not shocked
01:22:52
that they got a bunch of deposits on something it probably is never going to come to the states it's also very
01:22:58
possible I mean it's like we probably won't see it because it'll be popular over there there's tons of cars that are
01:23:04
popular in other countries that we're just probably never going to see xiaomi doesn't sell that many phones over here
01:23:09
so like I don't know why they would try and now bring something that's way way harder to ship over here this is a
01:23:15
decent sized Market I mean the China Market is obviously way bigger for EVS but you know they might want to ship some stuff here Europe who knows I would
01:23:22
love to try it out um this video by telescope I think the channel was um
01:23:27
it's pretty good you should watch it he said it it drives really well umow and that it like it does remind him a lot of
01:23:34
a model 3 just at a different price range it looks amazing different the interior looks nicer I wish that we had
01:23:40
you know if Apple just allowed super apps in the United States maybe we would
01:23:46
have a xiaomi car in the United States hey how much did thej pay you to say that or ax a pixel car a Google car
01:23:53
Google logo they would stop updating it after two months yeah and then the messaging app would get renamed after a
01:23:58
couple more months and then the the car would get renamed they would stop making the car after three months it would be
01:24:05
it would get leaked it would get leaked to Oblivion they'd start selling it a Best Buy before it even gets announced it would happen I promise I
01:24:12
would love it well that's a good place to wrap this up we will keep our eyes on the
01:24:18
su7 uh we should also hm Bad Name su7 That's is that how you say it su7 yeah I
01:24:25
assume so I it's not an SUV it's a sedan it's a sedan that's very true I think it's a
01:24:31
confusing name yeah other than that I like it there's a lot of it's beautiful I was thinking about this recently there's a lot of weird names out there
01:24:36
of like EVS like Kia ev9 if you think about it is the electric vehicle 9
01:24:42
that's kind of weird the vinfast vf8 what does VF stand for vast it's the vinfast vinfast 8 what is that like just
01:24:50
some weird names that was thinking about I don't know yeah keeping the tech Vibe alive terrible naming I do think like Razer
01:24:58
weirdly enough started doing this they started doing this a while ago but they just name it like Razer Blade 15
01:25:05
2024 I I don't mind that I think that's a good way to do it came out that year
01:25:11
and it's this one I just Googled it Su does stand for something oh super user
01:25:16
you're close super super ultra you weren't you're
01:25:22
very close ultra speed Ultra Su stands for Speed Ultra and seven stands for the
01:25:30
market segment so Market segment the seven is like the size of it like how
01:25:36
Kia does ev6 EV I don't think Kia does a good job of that either though because the six is smaller than the five but the
01:25:41
N is both them she is out of order the ev9 is the big one the ev6 and the
01:25:47
ev5 I have to imagine at this point there's one person oh yeah sorry sorry that's what I meant ionic ionic six is
01:25:54
smaller than ionic 5 so maybe they're just going backwards yeah well Elon just named his car as sexy
01:26:00
so he we're out here speaking of random fun facts we should do
01:26:08
trivia trivia dude so first quick update on the score Marquez with six Andrew
01:26:17
with five hanging in there David with one two car the one four not bad
01:26:24
considering I was in Japan for few weeks close you're just going to say that every week when he's winning he's like that's
01:26:30
pretty goodan weeks while David was gone first
01:26:37
question thanks which of these is not a real Google product Oh Google thesaurus
01:26:43
Google compare Google showtimes or Google
01:26:49
[Music] Trips
01:26:57
I'm just going to read some other ones while we wait Google Now grip you weave grip Google block search
01:27:04

01:27:50
that's a real one I thought i' used compare that okay H so all the other
01:27:55
products are ways that they can make money have ads in there hey hey hey they
01:28:02
had no shot of making money on Google magenta what was it it's different from
01:28:07
Fusia Google magenta was four Ableton Live plugins that use their AI to generate like short musical phrases I do
01:28:16
remember Google Trips so 100% sound like something that one I was hoping you
01:28:22
remember but kind of like doubt yourself I used it once for a trip that I did so now you can just ask your
01:28:29
rabbit I've been thinking of making that joke since they first mentioned yeah they they kind of got rid of it because
01:28:35
they started bundling all the features of Google Trips just like into Gmail basically or just insert into Google I
01:28:40
used to use Google trips for everything it was awesome and Google travel too that's still there Google travel yeah
01:28:46
Google flights is still a thing yeah for now oh God they did add Google flight to
01:28:51
Google Flights late last year they added uh pricing protection you know so the price goes down between when you book
01:28:57
through Google flights and when the flight is they give you your money back really yeah which is really cool anytime
01:29:03
they update something with a feature that means it's close to Dy that means there someone just realized it exists yep exactly so what did you do this week
01:29:09
I updated Google flights what's that kill that wait we're spending money
01:29:17
on you updating that stop we're cutting you and the products yeah deep cut
01:29:23
second question actually before the second question I just wanted to say lots of people reached out uh via

YouTube comments last week and said guys why are Ellis and Adam still sharing a
01:29:35

01:29:40
no it's actually because Adam and I are both part of an ancient prophecy that
01:29:45
says if we both share a microphone for 300 podcast episodes a healing rain will
01:29:51
actually wash over the world New Jersey so we are actually protecting
