December 04, 2022 / 01:16:31

This episode covers the murder of Father Alfred Coons in Monroe, Wisconsin, on March 3, 1998, discussing the circumstances of his death, potential suspects, and theories surrounding the case.

Father Coons was attacked in his church after being dropped off by his friend, Father Fiore. The episode describes the timeline leading up to the murder, including a phone call Coons made at 10:30 PM and his body being discovered the next morning.

The hosts discuss the investigation, noting that the church was locked with no signs of forced entry, raising questions about how the attacker gained access. They also highlight Coons' character, his long service to the community, and the lack of evidence suggesting any wrongdoing on his part.

Various theories are presented, including the possibility of a satanic motive linked to a calf mutilation that occurred nearby. The hosts mention Malachi Martin, a former Vatican insider, who suggested that Coons' murder was carried out by luciferians.

The episode concludes with speculation about the motives behind the murder and the challenges faced by investigators in solving the case.

TLDR

The episode discusses the mysterious murder of Father Alfred Coons and explores various theories, including potential satanic involvement.

00:15:22
to rescue The Souls of the faithful from the power of the enemy especially at the
00:15:27
hour of death Tuesday March 3rd 1998 Monroe Wisconsin two men both priests are driving it's
00:15:38
about 8 30 PM father Alfred Coons the passenger is getting a ride home from his longtime friend and pal father fiori
00:15:48
a Dusty Wisconsin snow was falling fiori and Coons had a 70-mile drive ahead of them
00:15:56
taking them all the way to the Tiny Town of Dane Wisconsin with a population of only about 700
00:16:03
hard-working and God-fearing people Dane was only a small blip on the big Wisconsin map
00:16:10
it was where father Alfred Coons had called home for many years and for many years he has loved and taken care of the
00:16:18
good people of Dane it was a beautiful night one of those clear March nights where the snowflakes
00:16:25
melt when they touch the pavement about halfway home father Coons became silent and then he started to clam up
00:16:33
fiori looked at his friend and said Al you have been a good friend for so many years and I love you for that there was
00:16:41
a long pause and father Coons looked up there were large tears running down his face and all he could say was
00:16:49
I know I know around 10 pm that night the two priests had arrived at St Michael's Church the
00:16:59
destination for father Coons he got out of the car ther fiori rolled down the car window
00:17:05
and shouted hey Al make sure you get yourself something to eat I will Coons yelled back before heading
00:17:13
inside and out of the cold most likely within an hour or two of arriving home father Coons was startled
00:17:21
a noise woke him from his sleep [Music] someone was in the building a stranger stepped out of the cold night
00:17:30
and into the church and home of Father Coons but this part of the story is a mystery
00:17:36
because we don't know the stranger's name and we cannot see the stranger's face we can only wonder if father Coons knew
00:17:45
the name or recognized the face regardless father Coons would have greeted The Stranger with warmth and
00:17:51
kindness how may I help you my child but the stranger was not seeking the love of
00:17:57
God the warmth of the church he only wanted one thing from father Coons The Stranger would greet Coons with anger
00:18:05
maybe an accusatory question a death threat or words of hatred The Stranger rushes the old priest and
00:18:13
attacks him forced to defend himself father Coons fights back as he is being hit
00:18:18
repeatedly after a long struggle The Stranger gets up and he pulls from his coat a knife father Coons grabs at the
00:18:26
blade with his bare hands trying to pry the knife from his assailant sadly he is
00:18:31
unsuccessful The Stranger put the blade to the side of Coon's neck and slits the throat of
00:18:37
the beloved father stranger now covered in blood injured and probably cut stands up
00:18:44
and as he gathers himself he curses the priest then he steps back out into the cold night who was this stranger was he
00:18:52
a mentally ill Drifter or some sick twisted Satanist or was he someone the priest had trusted
00:19:00
this is true crime garage and this is the case of Father Alfred Coons [Music] thank you
00:19:22
on Wednesday March 4th 1998 the body of Father Alfred Coons was found at the Saint Michael's Church his body was
00:19:31
practically lying at the foot of a beautiful statue of Saint Michael the Archangel inside the building he was
00:19:38
found by a school teacher this is a male teacher at about 7 A.M on that day this
00:19:45
man called 9-1-1 to report the findings when the First Responders arrived the first thing that they saw was all the
00:19:51
blood on the tile floor now father father Alfred Coons was wearing black pants and a white T-shirt and he was
00:20:00
lying in a pool of his own blood his his clothing had been blood soaked by that point obviously the teacher who had
00:20:07
found him had quite a bit of blood on his own clothing as well after running over to the body father Coons was known
00:20:15
as father Al to most who knew him now as we mentioned at the start of the show one man who knew Al very well was father
00:20:23
Fiore the two were together the night before this would be the night of or the night before Coons death depending on
00:20:32
how you look at the timeline police say because of fiori dropping Coons off around 10 p.m that night and
00:20:39
the teacher finding the body around 7 A.M the following morning that that obviously is your window for when the
00:20:45
murder occurred now the police may not know for sure but they have stated that they estimate that the time of death
00:20:52
would be closer to 10 pm on March 3rd rather than 7 A.M on March 4th so father Fiore and father Coons they were
00:21:03
together that night they were in Monroe Wisconsin father Coons and fiori will Captain they were they were a lot like
00:21:10
us they had a quote-unquote radio show they called this our our Catholic hour and it sounds to me like clever name it
00:21:19
sounds to me like Coons had done the show for a while maybe like a year or two uh Peter I thought it was called a
00:21:26
Catholic hour garage uh Peter Kelly who is a Monroe Wisconsin attorney he is the producer of the
00:21:35
weekly show our Catholic hour or our Catholic Family on this night father Fiore was at the
00:21:42
mic in place of Father Coons the two had been longtime friends and I believe fiori had had been a guest many times on
00:21:51
this show now father Coons was passing the torch and passing the mic to his friend as father Fiore was taking over
00:21:59
the show permanently um I I've never I've never heard the show in in no disrespect intended but I
00:22:07
have read that it was a rather dry hour-long show um not so similar to our show on
00:22:14
occasion Coons had done some controversial things um or Antics on the show I I won't go
00:22:21
into the details of those because I don't want to I don't wish to offend anybody listening
00:22:27
um as we said after the taping of the show fiori drove Coons back to Dane to his church uh Slash home arriving around
00:22:36
10 pm according to the records Coons spoke to someone on the phone at 10 30 P.M there the there the body was found the
00:22:45
next morning at 7 A.M we don't know what happened during those hours except someone or someone's arrived at the
00:22:53
church and there was some kind of fight that led to someone cutting the throat of the good father right I'm really
00:23:01
curious to know the the um you know the first thing I was curious about was the lock situation of
00:23:08
the building so let's describe this building real quick so basically what you have it's it's a church now keep in
00:23:14
mind this is a smaller town but you have a church that also contains within it a
00:23:18
Catholic school as well as a small apartment it's been referred to as a small apartment where Coons had lived
00:23:25
but they also said that he lived like a like a like a popper you know like he lived like a very very poor man there
00:23:33
there was some a famous story done on for coons after he passed away that that was titled Alfred Coons from rags to
00:23:42
rags you know this wasn't a rags to Rich's story this was this was a man that lived right
00:23:48
um you know he lived like a poor man because he served his he served his Parish he served his God and he served
00:23:54
the people of his parish and Community well and also the Catholic Family our garage probably wasn't paying the bills
00:24:01
right right so the the lock situation like I said the thing that I was concerned about with this building
00:24:09
um was very simple and the police cleared this up very quickly uh with one of the first newspaper articles that
00:24:16
came out they clearly stated the police found the building locked um the the entire building was locked
00:24:23
every door was locked uh and there was no sign of forced entry so you know now we have the situation of
00:24:31
how did the killer get in uh if if this either he had access to the building in some some way or father Alfred Coons let
00:24:40
this person in and you know but the thing is 98 right so it could have been like any school or
00:24:49
some some of these churches where all you you know you could get out of the building but getting in everything was
00:24:56
locked right so that's that's what I'm assuming I would guess as well the same thing now here's some uh background
00:25:03
information on our victim father Coons was born in Wisconsin in 1930. he grew up in Fenimore uh he attended Seminary
00:25:13
at uh josephineum in Worthington Ohio you and I are big fans of the the little town of Worthington it's close to us
00:25:20
that's right he received a doctorate in canon law uh he became the pastor of what is described in these newspaper
00:25:28
articles as the tiny church of Saint Michael's and they list the church parish as consisting of 149 families
00:25:36
it's unclear to me if that was at the time that he became the pastor or if that was at the time of his death well
00:25:42
like you said in the trailer this is a very small town so father Al I'll try to refer to him as
00:25:48
that because that's what his friends called him um I guess the church had burned down at
00:25:53
some point and he had helped rebuild the church uh as we said you know the rags to rag story he took a vow of poverty he
00:26:02
collected no salary uh he died with very little money he at the time of his death
00:26:08
he had three cars but these were all like smaller older maybe what we would refer to as beaters Mom right yeah and
00:26:16
they might have been donated by the people of the parish well he he was a very old school kind of dude he he would
00:26:24
buy or get these cars you're right some of these may have been donated and these
00:26:28
are old beat up cars and sometimes they would barely run or uh maybe not run at all but he would fix them up and he
00:26:35
would keep them running and he would he would give some sometimes he would give these cars to the teachers at his school
00:26:42
because I believe the teachers made very little money you know they made something like five hundred dollars
00:26:48
salary a month you know so very little money so he would try to are they allowed to do that with minimum wage and
00:26:55
things like that I don't know how that stuff works the church gets around everything but he would he would try to
00:27:01
give them little perks or incentives for their work with the uh with the church and school well he's a little bit of a
00:27:08
chef as well yeah he was he was kind of famous for his fish fries they would do the community and the church would do
00:27:16
these uh fish fries every you know most on some Friday nights and father Coons along with two other gentlemen they
00:27:23
would do everything they would fry the fish the french fries they would make their own tartar sauce uh and even
00:27:29
though the town only had about 700 people sometimes they would get over a thousand people at these different
00:27:34
events um you know so this was something that was uh popular you know and he was well
00:27:40
known for people would drive in from out of town to to you know get together with
00:27:44
the people in in experiencies these events on yeah well in all fairness if you're in a town of like 700 people
00:27:51
everything you do is popular hey man um we're gonna go watch a little Kevin he learned to tie his shoes we're
00:28:02
gonna go watch him okay 700 people show up the thing here Captain though is that
00:28:07
father Coons he he remained at his church he remained at this church at St Michael's for a long time all the way up
00:28:16
until his death uh how how long is that it was like you know he was there for like 30 years
00:28:24
um a long time yeah and the thing here is they they say that he quote unquote ran a one-man show uh he he kept
00:28:32
basically no records he had no calendar or daily planner and rarely kept notes on things concerning his work at the
00:28:40
church this including counseling sessions um so from the get-go though we see a problem with the investigation because
00:28:50
we know with these with these murders that a lot of times we got to start looking at the Inner Circle you know the
00:28:56
family the friends uh the people that were closest to the victim well immediately the investigators have a
00:29:03
problem because we have a guy that has no he didn't write anything down he you know they they would have to go to other
00:29:11
people to find out what this guy's future plans were you know what was his future appointments who was he supposed
00:29:18
to go see what was on his his calendar that maybe he only kept in his mind um so this made the investigation uh
00:29:27
more difficult plus they also didn't they're not able to really fully establish things that maybe only father
00:29:34
Al would have known or father Al would have wrote down regarding his relationships with other people or
00:29:40
especially his work with the church yeah but how many people write that down hey
00:29:46
I do a I do a podcast with Nick I like Nick we drank beer together we have fun he's very funny I appreciate all those
00:29:58
nice things off of the mic when he's not on the podcast he's very funny but the thing here is Captain if investigators
00:30:05
can find a diary a calendar if they have a computer to if they have a computer that they can sort through
00:30:12
um do grown men keep Diaries um I don't okay some do yeah you know and but but a lot of
00:30:23
people keep a calendar A lot of people do um you know sit at a computer for x amount of hours every day these are all
00:30:30
things that can help your investigation uh he was killed at the age of 67 he was
00:30:36
uh at St Michael's Church for 31 years you asked how many years it was 31 years um and I didn't I didn't realize this
00:30:45
until we got into to looking at this case you know I grew up Catholic you grew up Catholic uh I wouldn't say we
00:30:52
were the best of Catholics you know we weren't we we weren't there shut your mouth that was all I was an alder boy no
00:30:59
you weren't yes I was you were yeah for a while I was confirmed I was confirmed exposure confirmation names I think we
00:31:09
already got into this on a show I can't remember what you said yeah Hans was it Hans no it's Isaiah oh and you don't
00:31:17
remember your name do you no no see I remember this I was too busy being an older boy so I didn't realize that it's
00:31:26
a very rare thing for a priest to remain at the same church for that many years for 31 years I'm gonna keep that joke to
00:31:33
myself so both of us were raised Catholic we're neither one of us are practicing
00:31:39
Catholics today I think we mainly we mainly were confirmed Catholic just so we could play on the football team
00:31:47
hey I pray a lot during the football season yes yeah um now father Al was not only just a
00:31:54
good priest but he was a good son as well his mother lived about an hour and a half away from him and he would visit
00:32:00
her often uh almost every week sometimes more than once a week the thing here is
00:32:06
that I thought it was well I heard she did his laundry so the thing that I thought was really nice uh and and
00:32:13
almost cute in a way in a mama's boy kind of way um he would he would visit her obviously
00:32:20
on her birthday but he would call Mass at her local church on on her birthday so she would she would go there you know
00:32:28
and maybe drag a couple of her friends with her so she could show off how proud she is of her boy right
00:32:34
um and like we said he was old school one thing that he would do is he did a he could say a Latin Mass which I don't
00:32:41
know how often I don't know if these were the things that took place often a Latin Mass I don't know if they did that
00:32:47
at my church growing up I wouldn't have um you know I would have recognized that
00:32:52
it's a different language but I wouldn't have known anything that was being said
00:32:55
well they they did it at mine but to be to be fair I mean they start talking and
00:33:02
you don't know if they're just saying gibberish or if they're speaking Latin so I do like when the priest like sings and
00:33:08
talks at the same time you know that always inspired me I was trying to pull a Frank
00:33:18
Sinatra all right so that you know this guy was a good guy uh I'll post a picture of
00:33:24
um uh Coons on um Instagram uh one of the things that is interesting he kind of has a
00:33:30
um [Music] I I don't it's not a lazy eye but it's kind of a droopy eye really I think are you certain he might he might
00:33:40
I just thought he was kind of the dude that like if he knew he was having his picture taken he would like [ __ ] the one
00:33:46
eyebrow up like like maybe that was his pose kind of thing no that's a good thing that's my pose and you don't get a
00:33:52
droopy eye okay that's it that's a different look it's just kind of a droopy eye I mean if you'd you know he
00:33:58
just comes across as goofy maybe even a hint drunk I'm not saying he was an alcoholic or that he was a drunk that's
00:34:06
just kind of because he's got a happy face yeah like that's the best way to explain it friendly when you see him he
00:34:12
like he like has a natural smile um and the thing is if you see him out of his priest get up
00:34:21
um he's very grandfatherly looking you know what I mean he looks like what you well you would close your eyes and
00:34:27
picture a typical grandfather Yeah and I'll post a picture of his when he first started the priesthood you know handsome
00:34:34
gentleman but I think then as he got older I I like the guys that as they get older
00:34:40
they embrace it and they just go I'm the goofy older guy now you know I'm not trying to be handsome or Suave
00:34:48
Captain we have we have to go through the autopsy the evidence and the police findings uh from the immediate get-go
00:34:58
one of the first articles that came out you know we had a situation where the police were saying that they were they
00:35:06
were looking for a motive for this crime because it would be it's very rare I have to believe it's very rare for a for
00:35:13
a priest to be killed and a priest would be killed inside one's own church um now they did state that they would
00:35:21
not rule out robbery early on in the investigation I do want to want to tip you know mention one kind of thing that
00:35:30
I thought was a little bit sad uh to see a man that gave so much of his life to the Catholic Church into uh his
00:35:38
community his community and helping others um the thing here is the priest could
00:35:44
not complete the last rites for father Coons because of the investigation Asian a reverend from a nearby town of Lodi
00:35:53
gave Coons Final Absolution but officials did not permit him to anoint the body with oil as the oil uh it was
00:36:02
said that the oil May interfere with evidence or things that they were looking for on the body so I found that
00:36:09
to be rather sad concerning that you know considering that he gave so much of his
00:36:14
life to to the faith we'll get back to the case of Father Alfred Coons after this quick beer break
00:36:22
foreign [Music] we're back cheers everybody with any open investigation you want to try to go
00:36:52
through the autopsy the evidence and police findings with this still being unsolved these are limited to the public
00:37:00
as they should be but the still unsolved murder investigation regarding Alfred Coons has been described as one of the
00:37:08
most expensive and time-consuming investigations in the Dane County History the crime scene was described as
00:37:17
Grizzly and gruesome which we should expect it to be with the cause of death being well father Coons had bled to
00:37:25
death he was discovered face down in a pool of his own blood his throat had been cut he
00:37:32
was lying in the hallway area what's been described as the the hallway area near the door of his apartment
00:37:40
to his living quarters someone had used a razor sharp what's been described by the police as a razor-sharp blade to cut
00:37:49
the artery this is just below kunz's jaw medical experts said that he would have
00:37:56
fainted when the cut was made and he would have only lived for about a minute and this would have been in a dazed
00:38:04
dream like State now one big indicator to the investigators was father Coons had marks on his hands and arms it was
00:38:16
very obvious to the police and they're not very descriptive about these uh what what led them to believe this but they
00:38:25
state that they know for a fact Coons fought his attacker right that would be the marks on your hands and they're
00:38:34
they're also saying that the attacker would have had obvious signs of injury meaning that the the investigators
00:38:43
believe or have evidence to point them in the direction of believing that this person was probably punched in the face
00:38:50
is the is the best way that I can gather from this because they've repeatedly said the attacker would have had obvious
00:38:58
injuries well and maybe they can tell I mean you're going to have cuts on Father
00:39:03
kuhn's hands but as far as like you know the the human hand is not designed to punch things well uh so there's a
00:39:12
possibility that uh father Coons had like a broken pinky knuckle okay or something like that so if he's punching
00:39:19
somebody he might have damage to his his hand from punching somebody and you and
00:39:24
maybe that's that's the evidence of that and you would expect to see more damage
00:39:28
to one's hands if they're connecting with the face or the skull because the bones are you know right up there well
00:39:34
and the skull is harder than the hand and so this person would have had obvious injuries on their face uh from
00:39:42
being punched the other thing that they believe too that it's very likely um that the killer did not anticipate
00:39:51
that amount of blood remember we've talked about in the past that that sometimes when there's a struggle or
00:39:56
when there's blood involved the blade can become slippery um and and yes you could you can cut
00:40:03
yourself on accident or it could be even leave yourself with a decent size cut or
00:40:08
Cuts uh because of the struggle or because of the blood well we've talked about that before with if you have a
00:40:15
blade like a you know uh knife right you have a standard knife but it normally has the handle and it
00:40:22
has like a almost like a hand stopper a hilt it helps what I believe so when when if if it got slippery that Hilt
00:40:31
would stop you from cutting your hand now if you have a box cutter or a kitchen knife yeah or like a razor blade
00:40:39
type thing read the blade uh then there's no Hilt there so it doesn't stop your hand from sliding and you don't you
00:40:47
want to talk about a devastating cut you know you thought a paper cut was bad now right away in the investigation
00:40:55
Captain one thing that I found interesting was the the deputies were asking neighbors you know people that
00:41:01
lived in this rural rural community apologize uh to watch for unusual items on their lawns and the investigators
00:41:12
stating anytime that you have a crime like this there is always the possibility that someone has discarded
00:41:18
something as they left the crime scene so I'm assuming that they were hopeful the police were
00:41:24
hopeful that maybe that the attacker leaves the church as he's walking back wherever he's going he's dropping the
00:41:33
the you know the murder weapon yeah that he would have disposed of the murder Weapon by just tossing it in some random
00:41:40
location all right so what we do know let's just recap this real quick we have we know that father Coons was attacked
00:41:47
and murdered in the hallway [Music] um we know that there was a knife or a blade involved correct we know that
00:41:56
there was a lot of blood and so the attacker would probably have blood on them and there's some evidence we don't
00:42:03
know what the evidence is but you know possibly where this uh the attacker would have or the murderers what I
00:42:10
probably should say the murderer would have blood on them maybe a black eye maybe
00:42:16
cuts on them correct broken nose you know any anything that you would a busted lip anything that you would
00:42:22
assume or or you know that would be typical of a fist fight um we also know that Coons was killed
00:42:30
between the hours of 10 30 pm and 7 00 a.m uh pretty long window though yeah police believing that it's closer to
00:42:37
that 10 30 p.m um situation I would I was curious to know who um who he was talking to I couldn't
00:42:45
locate that information but but it was clear there was some kind of phone call that he had
00:42:51
um phone conversation that he had around that 10 30 time yeah a lot like you said
00:42:56
before a lot of this evidence kind of held close to the vast and the other thing too
00:43:03
um regarding the the teacher that found um father Coons they which had a lot of blood on him they've Not Included the
00:43:12
name of this person um that I could find and there were many newspaper uh internet and magazine
00:43:19
articles regarding this murder and I couldn't find one that that stated that male it's a male teacher I couldn't find
00:43:26
one that stated the name of him we do know that the doors were all found locked there was no sign of forced entry
00:43:34
it was um you know we said that father Fiore had that uh the the evening with with
00:43:41
Father Coons the night before it was father Fiore who formally identified the victim at the scene now one thing I was
00:43:49
a little curious about um was the father Fiore situation you know he's handy you know he's taking
00:43:57
over the this this radio show was that some kind of problem between the two of them they were long time friends they
00:44:05
they actually worked together on many projects that they created themselves and it it had been reported many many
00:44:13
times you know we talked about Coons purchasing or getting these vehicles and fixing them up at the time of his death
00:44:20
he had three cars and he was somebody that everybody said well he loved to drive like that that was a big hobby of
00:44:28
his and I thought well if he'd love to drive so much why is he car you know why is this father Fiore driving him 70
00:44:36
miles both ways I actually found father Fiore at the time lived only about five minutes away from father [ __ ] so it
00:44:43
would only make sense for the two to carpool on this Mr don't litter how about how about trying to carpool every
00:44:51
now and then um everybody please carpool be good be kind don't Litter carpool now
00:45:00
from an outsider looking in uh at first glance and I hate are we getting into speculation already yeah we're gonna get
00:45:08
in a little speculation and then we'll get into some theories but but but one thing that I kind of want to put um well
00:45:15
let me just give our warning if you don't like speculation turn the damn show off one thing I want to kind of put
00:45:20
to bed before we get into the theories here Captain was from somebody looking from the outside looking in your
00:45:27
immediate thought would be a priest killed in a church well was he up to no good we know that the the Catholic
00:45:36
churches um yeah got some black eyes over the years and and Priests we don't have to
00:45:43
pussyfoot around with this well there's been priests out there that have have done Terrible Things there's a there's
00:45:51
hundreds and hundreds of priests that were child molesters that are probably still are child molesters and um the
00:45:58
church has covered that up time and time again that's what's been happening if you don't like what I just stated
00:46:05
um that that's not my opinion that's just what's fact um that's the unfortunate Truth uh the
00:46:11
thing here is Captain so the first thing that we looked at was well it was father
00:46:15
Coons one of these bad priests was he a bad priest and and somebody out there felt that he deserved to be punished
00:46:23
um right maybe so the idea which I don't know why you're you know dancing around
00:46:29
it the idea is that he he possibly molested a child and then that child would come back or the the parents of
00:46:37
that child were like yeah it's time for you to die pay for what you did the thing here is okay that's the theory
00:46:44
right that that would be the first thought and the thing is though there's no evidence or even complaints of Father
00:46:51
Coons having been involved in anything of that nature no again and again 30 years 31 years at the same Parish now
00:47:01
when you look into a lot of these the accused priest that's all you can call them because there's never charges
00:47:08
normally brought up the accused priest normally they'll bounce him around they'll give them six months sick leave
00:47:15
they'll move them perish normally every two to three years so there is no sign of that there's no
00:47:22
sign of him being moved around no father Al's at the same location for 31 years right and like we said there was no uh
00:47:30
even after his death there was nobody that came forward right so it is a small community and I get again
00:47:38
I think with the small community you're gonna you know if if he was up to no good uh
00:47:45
you're affecting a giant percentage of that population actually the the other thing too Captain is what came out after
00:47:53
his death were there were many priests that were coming out as well as people in within the parish that were you know
00:48:01
devout and very close to Father Al that were coming out after his death and saying quite the contrary that that
00:48:08
father Al was not a a bad priest he wasn't a child molester he was actually kind of policing other priests that he
00:48:17
was what they called a um a discreet whistleblower um and this was like I said several
00:48:24
priests said this and several people in the parish had said that he was keeping an eye on some things and he was um you
00:48:31
know I don't know how vocal he was with it because like I said this is stuff he came out that came out after his death
00:48:37
it sounds more to me like um he was he he would report these incidents or report his suspicions to uh
00:48:47
superiors to these other Priests of superiors right and like we said again this was
00:48:53
1998 this is uh this is actually three years I think before the Boston story broke
00:49:00
2001 uh with the whole pre-sex scandal in Boston but I think this was something in that Community
00:49:10
um that was being talked about and being discussed and from what I found it seems
00:49:15
like he was doing a lot of research into these possible connections with priests
00:49:21
and and the whole state of Illinois so what did he know or what did he uncover um you know could that be a possible
00:49:31
motive now the thing here is Captain early in the investigation we have Dane County
00:49:37
Sheriff's detective Kevin Hughes uh regarding the thought of motives for the murder of father Coons he says you know
00:49:44
the the motives are all over the place you know this could be anything from jealousy to power and control to
00:49:51
betrayal and fear of exposure uh he basically says you know it could be any one of these things so you can take your
00:49:58
pick at this point when you're investigating this crime now very early on in the murder they had like they had
00:50:05
a whole bunch of guys maybe 30 30 men and women investigating uh this murder um they they did I mean they they did a
00:50:14
lot of hard work on this now there were many theories out there regarding the motives uh or why he was killed but
00:50:23
several priests have their have theories of their own and we'll get into those um the first one being that
00:50:31
um either Satanist uh possibly luciferians killed father Al Coons okay um it has been it's been suggested many
00:50:42
have suggested that there is a body of evidence that suggests that Satanism was involved in the murder now we we gave a
00:50:50
warning a couple weeks ago and we don't typically do these because it is a true crime show but you don't you don't
00:50:56
expect to hear about um an animal being harmed or killed so throwing out this is the warning uh I
00:51:04
was actually received some feedback that said hey next time when you're going to
00:51:08
talk about that stuff could you make sure you throw out a warning in advance and I thought well you should pay
00:51:12
attention because we we did give you a warning here's your warning here's this is the official warning so and I
00:51:18
apologize for this but it has to be reported um a a mutilate a mutilated calf was
00:51:24
discovered on a farm just about 15 minutes away from St Michael's Church where they found coons's body the calf
00:51:33
this was found just the day before the calf had its Thrift its throat slit It's today and its blood was drained
00:51:43
into a Milk Pail uh the calf's genitals had been cut off as well the calf was in
00:51:50
a cage when it was killed or at least fenced in maybe in a stall rather than a cage but the articles I read refers to
00:51:57
the calf as being caged according to police reports this happened between 10 pm on March 2nd and
00:52:07
4 a.m on March 3rd at a farm so again this is a very similar time frame just one day before coons's murder
00:52:17
right the king as I said the Caged animal's throat was slit the farmer told police
00:52:24
um that he believed that this was probably the work of a Wiccan cult um that he he had said was rumored to
00:52:33
operate in the area now cult experts consider calf mutilations to be the quote-unquote calling card or signature
00:52:41
of Satanist um Coons slit throat was also significant to these same um experts I wonder if there's a way to
00:52:50
test um you know the blade entries and and things like that of the bodies if they'd
00:52:57
be similar that's that's a that's an interesting thought um they're they're saying that the the
00:53:03
throat cutting um is signs of uh you know many secret societies there are Oaths of many secret
00:53:11
societies that include that throat slicing as a penalty or punishment for revealing a group's closest Secrets
00:53:21
um you know and the thought here being was father Coons exposing the operations of some kind of cult right but again
00:53:29
like I said how much did he know about these other priests as far as the you know pedophilia and stuff like that
00:53:37
but also were those pre were those priests connected to other organizations you know that were more Sinister so
00:53:45
that's just a a rabbit hole now one driving force behind this thought of the Satanist or luciferians was Coons friend
00:53:56
and Associate this is a former Vatican Insider Maliki Martin um he certainly thought so
00:54:04
um and this is obvious because just six weeks after Coons murder Martin appeared
00:54:08
on a radio show claiming to have inside information that Coon's murder was carried out by luciferians uh according
00:54:16
to for what reason though did he say on the radio show um I did I did not hear the Arctic I did
00:54:22
not hear the entire interview um according to you know this would have taken place in in the late 1990s and
00:54:31
late 1998. um so I was unable to find the entire interview but according to Martin uh
00:54:39
luciferians are not your garden variety devil worshipers but they are devil worshipers nonetheless he also insisted
00:54:47
that Coons had either assisted in several exorcisms yeah or performed them himself at the Saint Michael's Church
00:54:55
and that he often consulted with Martin regarding these exorcisms um he also yeah well I think Morgan was
00:55:04
actually pretty famous for exorcism wasn't he I think I think that's the priest I was reading about yeah you're
00:55:11
exactly right uh Martin was famous for a lot of things and and we'll get into that in just a second but one more thing
00:55:18
that that Martin was saying was that luciferians resent uh what they resent the most as interference with someone
00:55:24
they regard as their own adding that his friend believed that his life was in danger for weeks leading up to his death
00:55:34
uh he says that we I don't know who we are when he says we but he says we are all convinced beyond anything that
00:55:43
father Coons was killed in hatred of the Faith as punishment and as an example for the rest of us I'm assuming he means
00:55:51
uh we as in Priest that's what I would assume he also states that a week before the murder a woman who was certain her
00:56:01
middle-aged son was demonically possessed was referred to Father Al Coons foreign exorcism
00:56:10
and this was going to be done he was referred by a bishop in Minnesota the woman and her son had not yet arrived as
00:56:20
of the night before Coons had died Martin also said Coons was afraid for his life for weeks leading up to the
00:56:27
murder it sounds to me Captain like it's a little unclear in my notes but it sounds to me like this this will maybe
00:56:34
get some more clear notes this woman had made some kind of appointment right to meet with him because you know it does
00:56:40
state that they had not arrived to meet with coons before his death yeah but you
00:56:45
know uh old Alfred doesn't write anything down so we don't know um that would it's funny when you're saying he doesn't
00:56:53
write anything down I'm like well really who writes a lot of stuff down but yes you would write down appointments for an
00:57:01
exorcism or or to to discuss an exorcism you think you think if you're gonna have
00:57:07
a fight with a a man possessed by the devil you're gonna you know you're gonna Mark that down on the calendar you're
00:57:14
going to get up every day and you're gonna chug your eggs and you're gonna run up the stairs my calendar is not
00:57:20
very complete but I would I would be I would be dreading the arrival of that day my next next Wednesday it's on like
00:57:28
Donkey Kong well okay so should we talk a little bit about um let's talk a little bit about Martin
00:57:34
for a second uh before we get into uh okay it's other theories Martin is the priest that's giving the the interview
00:57:42
with the radio yeah and and I don't want to go into this all the way because I don't fully understand it there's
00:57:50
probably a lot of intricate work things with inside the Catholic church that we are unaware of
00:57:56
um but you know there have been people that have questioned this Maliki Martin his uh authenticity as being a priest uh
00:58:05
his authenticity has having been a quote-unquote Vatican Insider we're not going to debate that on this show but I
00:58:12
do want to throw that out there to let you know there has been this talk uh you can certainly look into Maliki Martin as
00:58:18
much as you want there's a lot of information out there on him he was a a best-selling author uh apparently he had
00:58:25
asked for special permission to from the church to become an author um the the thing here is where I think
00:58:32
you see the problem with Martin is a lot of his books were talking about Satanism
00:58:39
being involved in the hierarchy of the Catholic Church as well as sex scandals and um these the pedophilia that you had
00:58:48
talked about being involved in the church he had several uh best-selling books and maybe that's why the church
00:58:56
pushed him away or kept him at arm's length but as you said he was known for his exorcisms he was known to be a big
00:59:04
proponent of reminding everybody every chance he got that there is a constant battle between good and evil going on
00:59:11
and there are people out there that are getting uh possessed by these demons and
00:59:15
he was leading and assisting in many exorcisms and and wrote several books uh whether you know most of them are
00:59:24
considered to be fiction works of fiction but he says that a lot of his works are based based off of experiences
00:59:32
that he had well but it also kind of makes you wonder you know if this guy has connections
00:59:37
with the church what is his motivation I mean he has some motives here too I mean
00:59:42
let's let's just assume let's just hypothetically right right hypothetically uh Alfred coons get some
00:59:49
information that there is some um you know some touchy touchy going on with some priest right and he is going to and
00:59:57
maybe he's presenting this evidence to to some people uh I actually heard that he actually sent some stuff to the
01:00:04
bishop before so if they looked into this information that father Coons gave them there was some validity to it and
01:00:11
they didn't do anything about it and then he then contacted him and said hey what are you doing about this right that
01:00:17
would be if again connections with the bishop connections with you know the Vatican or whatever that would be a
01:00:24
reason oh well he was killed by Satanist well actually he was killed by priests but we're going to call him Satanist and
01:00:32
that's our cover-up you know he was killed by the church but hey guys you was killed by satanists so that would be
01:00:39
a motive there um for him lying but uh but I don't know well but the thing here is I think you
01:00:48
know I see Maliki Martin as he you know and maybe it's not all over the shop but he he seems to be presenting
01:00:57
almost two different arguments that kind of I guess they intertwine each other at
01:01:02
some point because he you know he states that um you know it was known that the format
01:01:07
of that hour-long radio show that Catholic Family Hour show was going to be modified uh Martin I guess was it was
01:01:15
at times aghast a regular guest on the show um and he was labeled as an expert on
01:01:22
deviate sex Rings within the Catholic Church um stating that the Knight Coons was
01:01:28
murdered was the exact same night that kunz's friend Father Charles Fiore was going to take over the Catholic Family
01:01:35
Hour show fiori planned this is according to Martin Fiore planned to begin exposing satanic pedophile Rings
01:01:43
within the Catholic Church uh Fiore was in a perfect position to collect Intelligence on deviate sex Rings both
01:01:52
inside and outside of the Catholic church because of his participation in what Martin says is the or calls the
01:01:59
council for National policy well so everything I just said makes zero sense then well so basically
01:02:06
because what because then that wouldn't be a cover-up right because if he found this bad stuff then his then this guy is
01:02:13
not covering it up because what he's stating is if if there if if he was killed and it was satanic it it does not
01:02:21
exclude um people of the church right that there are say there are satanic organizations
01:02:28
outside of the church and then there are some inside the church and he was saying
01:02:33
that the satanic ring of pedophiles and the church possibly could be um who's responsible for killing father
01:02:43
Coons yeah and I think that's Martin you know reminding us is is or pointing out
01:02:48
to us asking us the question is this is this complete is it just coincidence that that Coons is killed on the same
01:02:57
night that fiori takes over the radio show and Fiori's planning on discussing this this crazy topic right
01:03:05
um and you know was so was Coons killed uh to to shut up Coons his work that he was doing behind the scenes to the
01:03:12
reports he were filing with people and as a warning to fiori um to not go out with this information
01:03:19
now according to to uh Martin and to others um fiori then changed his plans for that
01:03:28
radio show after the of course well he did well we can say of course he did but we also we don't know exactly what his
01:03:37
plans were you know it's one thing for it's one thing for Martin to say this is what he was planning to do it's it's
01:03:42
another thing right if that was actually um the case yeah does anybody write this
01:03:48
stuff down yeah so so Martin I mean these are these are interesting theories uh Martin is certainly a um and I don't
01:03:55
want don't anybody get get mad at me on this I didn't we weren't able to spend a
01:03:59
lot of time on this Martin guy he had a very extensive career he had a lot of um ins and outs with the Catholic church
01:04:07
I don't know the specifics of all of those um but he was what I would say a controversial character
01:04:14
um Martin died in 1999 so not long after the death of Father Alfred Coons well he he passed away of a stroke uh
01:04:25
that was prompted by a fall um as he prepared for an exorcism according to a close associate that
01:04:33
doesn't sound fishy at all well according to this associate and this is coming from Martin uh as he's lying in a
01:04:40
hospital bed just shortly before his death Martin says and and he he adamantly says that the fall felt more
01:04:50
like a deliberate Act of an unseen evil force than an accident at the time the associate who was at Martin's bedside
01:04:58
when he died later quoted him as shouting at one point when asked about the incident he says no I did not fall I
01:05:07
tell you my legs were pulled out from under me right so sadly Martin has passed away in 1999. now regarding the
01:05:15
calf mutilation um that certainly does seem to me let's not jump around here so with with his stroke he's stating
01:05:27
somebody pulled his legs out from under him well he says an evil and unseen evil
01:05:32
force um he says that it feels like pulled his legs out from him he should have been in
01:05:38
person again he said he's he was uh he was I believe he was reaching for a book like he had climbed up on a stool and he
01:05:46
was at his one of those you know fancy bookshelves at these successful people have
01:05:51
um and he knows he'll have one of those our bookshelves are short yeah his you have to actually dig to guitars
01:06:00
he's standing on a stool and first of all any listener out there even if especially the older crowd don't stand
01:06:08
on stools okay let's just let's not stand they're not very safe to stand up don't let her carpool carpool don't
01:06:16
stand up don't stand on stools and go to the Fish Fry on Friday all right okay so
01:06:21
Martin he's on this stool and he says that he felt that his legs were pulled out from underneath of him he was
01:06:26
preparing for an exorcism um I don't know you know I I watched a documentary on Martin and a lot of this
01:06:33
is possible a lot of his close people well he firmly believed in these demonic possessions so of course he did I mean
01:06:40
why would you do exorcists if you didn't and if so if you believe in that then I
01:06:44
guess that it's not too much of a leap to believe that that they could be coming after him
01:06:50
um as he's trying to help these people um the thing here though is you know Close Associates of his according to the
01:06:59
documentary I watched it was called the Hostage to the devil or something like that
01:07:04
um they believe that the the exorcisms were taking a physical toll on this uh Maliki Martin throughout his years that
01:07:12
he would that he was having health problems because because he was involved in these exorcisms why I'm I'm assuming
01:07:19
that Exorcist is kind of stressful I mean God if they're anything like they portrayed in the uh documentary demons I
01:07:28
don't even relate yourself demons yeah if you're hosting an exorcism down the street from me could you make it well
01:07:35
known so I can leave the state I don't want to be anywhere near those things you probably have been near one you just
01:07:41
didn't know it I've got some family members that I think might need an exorcism oh Jesus
01:07:49
uh so here's the thing Captain what are your thoughts on this calf mutilation I mean it's certainly an act like that
01:07:57
killing I'm not a I'm not a vegan killing us a a younger animal uh and that manner certainly sounds like
01:08:06
something and I'll use a George W term here one of my favorite comic book terms sounds like something that an evil doer
01:08:13
or group of evil doers would would do would perform uh it seems like a really unnecessary thing of violence you know
01:08:22
and and that's maybe that's why the the farmer believed it would be an act of some kind of cult
01:08:30
yeah it's interesting to me one I'd want to know um did the farmer have any exchanges
01:08:36
with anybody where maybe he did something wrong you know uh so that's a possibility there uh are they connected
01:08:46
it's very possible I mean we got we have like in the same town a very small town
01:08:52
we have a animal with its throat slit and then we have a uh freeze the next day yeah rough roughly
01:09:00
15 miles away from one another roughly 24 hours uh apart yeah are they connected possibly it could be the same
01:09:08
individual to do I think it that's a sign of it being satanic I I don't believe so you know I I you know
01:09:18
that's all based off your you know this case is so difficult because you know religion is such a personal thing that
01:09:26
you know it's like um you know if somebody said to me well this this person killed a a calf and
01:09:33
then it killed a person and that that those acts are satanic those are acts of the devil well I I would agree with you
01:09:41
you know uh so does that make it Satanic you see what I'm saying right and I think you I want to hit on something
01:09:48
that you that you chimed in there about was you know did this farmer have any grievances with somebody in the area
01:09:56
because to me you know calf mutilation and caps animal sacrifice sounds and I hate to you know
01:10:04
it sounds a little more teenager you know a little more teenager satanic cult kind of thing to me that's where my gut
01:10:12
goes with that um as far as the mutilation did did this farmer have any problems with somebody
01:10:18
because and I hate to use this word when I'm referring to a living animal but this is how the law would see it the
01:10:25
calf is a form of property of this farmer and you know much like much like people that dislike one another or or
01:10:33
have some grievance against one another uh might destroy someone's property while somebody destroyed the the
01:10:39
property and this being the the calf which could be a valuable piece of property
01:10:45
um especially to oh yeah it's an asset you know so I think when you think of it in those terms yes it's an asset and so
01:10:53
it'd be like if you did me wrong or you owed me money and you don't have the money for me to collect
01:10:59
well I'll hurt you in your wallet by killing this animal and it's a horrible thing and it takes a horrible person to
01:11:05
do that act and I think that the timing of the two are really what have to link them for me
01:11:12
you know if if the calf mutilation was a week before three days before ten days before I might not not might not see any
01:11:19
type of connection but being so close in the manner of death being the same um is disturbing and it really it's a
01:11:29
real big hiccup in this investigation for me it's something that I think the timing but I also think what's really
01:11:35
interesting is the not just the day but the hours you know they claim that the calf um calf killing would have happened
01:11:44
after 10 pm to 4 a.m correct same with Father kunz's murder so to me that that's very suspicious it's
01:11:55
it's very strange it's a strange occurrence um and it's something like I said it's a
01:11:59
hiccup for me when I look at other things in this case I come back to that and I'm going still a little uncertain
01:12:05
on how I feel about the if there is a connection between the two my gut says no um that there's probably not a
01:12:13
connection to the two the the investigators at the time um say that there is nothing that they
01:12:18
didn't find any type of connection between the two between the calf and well again both it's killing being
01:12:27
killed by slitting somebody's throat or animal's throat and I think the thing here
01:12:32
is uh as far as satanic if it's satanic right my thought would just like I said before I just you know if somebody be
01:12:42
based off their religious beliefs said well murder is satanic or whatever okay fine that's that's your viewpoints on
01:12:49
this to me how it could just be some sick individual that got a new knife or whatever
01:12:56
was wandering around town after 10 p.m when the whole town probably shut down back in the day for all the young
01:13:04
listeners back in the day towns actually shut down like you got you know you could get about 10 p.m everything got
01:13:10
pretty dark uh so it could have been just some sick individual that got some knife right was
01:13:16
walking around by a farm and was like you know what I'm gonna try to kill something
01:13:22
and that's a sick individual that's a sick piece of [ __ ] and that same individual
01:13:28
could have then been walking by the church sees the father dropped off and things to himself
01:13:35
well I killed an animal let me see if I can kill a person and there's people I mean we've covered how many cases
01:13:42
there's people on this world that are that messed up well there's also people that will take out insurance on you know
01:13:49
racing horses or different kinds of valuable animals that they have and then burn down the stall for the uh the
01:13:58
insurance money um I don't know this guy's situation or the cow situation it's sad for for the
01:14:04
cow obviously um but yeah my gut says that that there's probably no um connection now the thing here though
01:14:12
Captain would you think that if if Coons were killed by Satanist or or like Martin might suggest a specific group of
01:14:20
satanists the luciferians do you think is it is it the same as an act of terrorism and what I mean by that is
01:14:27
because we see you know we've unfortunately come accustomed to acts of terrorism in this day and age
01:14:34
and the terrorists are usually pretty quick to claim what they've done where with the the murder of father Alfred
01:14:41
Coons does it make you wonder would they would they have set up the crime scene in a
01:14:48
way that would suggest it was carried out by satanists would there have been some indication of that at the crime
01:14:54
scene yeah but I I believe law enforcement probably would have brought that to the Forefront earlier
01:15:03
um so I think that's where we got a lot of other stuff that we need to get into uh at the end of the day I don't think
01:15:09
um I don't know if it was satanic acts like you said I think that there would be some kind of signature if it was a
01:15:15
satanic act maybe not the calf murder maybe that would just be uh uh you know we're killing a calf
01:15:23
right but as far as with the priest I think there would be some kind of signature that's left to say hey this is
01:15:31
a this is a satanic cult that's doing this well we have several different theories and a couple of suspects to
01:15:37
discuss still on the board in the garage for this week we will have to do that on
01:15:42
tomorrow's show so we will see you tomorrow in the garage we want to thank all of you for listening yes thanks for
