Brittanee Drexel /// Part 2 /// 218

November 16, 2023 / 01:03:20

This episode covers the disappearance of Britney Drexel, the investigation into her case, and various theories surrounding her fate. Key discussions include the timeline of events, the involvement of law enforcement, and potential suspects.

On April 26, 2009, the day after Britney was last seen, her mother and friends searched Myrtle Beach for her. Police began a large-scale investigation, noting no activity on her bank accounts. They requested public assistance for any photos or videos taken in the area during the time of her disappearance.

As the investigation progressed, police obtained Britney's cell phone records, which indicated she had traveled south after her last known location. This led to extensive searches in a rural area where her phone last pinged, but no evidence was found.

Several theories emerged, including the possibility that Britney was involved in drug trafficking or was a victim of human trafficking. The behavior of her friends raised suspicions, and law enforcement cleared them as persons of interest.

In 2012, a convicted sex offender named Raymond Moody became a primary suspect in Britney's case. Investigators continued to pursue leads, including a prison informant's claims about her abduction. Despite ongoing efforts, Britney's case remains unsolved.

TLDR

The episode discusses Britney Drexel's disappearance, investigation details, and various theories about her fate.

00:03:29
let's talk some true [Music] [Applause] crime on the day after Britney was last seen this is Sunday April 26th Dawn John
00:03:50
Greco Don's parents and two friends drove down to Myrtle Beach to look for Britney police in Myrtle Beach also
00:03:58
started the search large scale searches began very quickly they were Fanning out
00:04:04
from the BlueWater Resort police saw that there was no activity on Britney's bank accounts or her credit cards Dawn
00:04:14
and John and others canvased the town handing out flyers with Britney's picture her description was publicized
00:04:22
brown shoulder-length straight hair and blue eyes last seen wearing a multicolored striped shirt black shorts
00:04:30
and silver flip-flop sandals Myrtle Beach PD requested that anyone with pictures or videos from from South and
00:04:39
Ocean Boulevard between 8:45 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. on April 25th that they please contact the police so they're going to
00:04:48
start their search captain from the last known spot that we know that Britney was
00:04:53
at the blue waterer Resort leaving Peter's Room and they're going to ask anybody that you know it could take her
00:05:00
half an hour let's say roughly to walk that route back to her hotel anybody that took pictures in that area or
00:05:08
filmed anything with their phone at that time give us a call cuz we need we need
00:05:13
eyes we need to see what was going on in that area at that time one of the things
00:05:17
law enforcement was is going to be fighting is the fact that a lot of the people that were there the week Britney
00:05:21
was there probably left on that Sunday and might never have heard of this girl going missing you're correct and the
00:05:29
early searches will provide little to no information as to the possible whereabouts of Britney Drexel by May 2nd
00:05:37
Dawn her mother had appeared on Nancy Grace appealing to the public for help investigators had shifted their
00:05:43
investigation to 40 mil away this is in Georgetown County the Press reported that this was due to tips received and
00:05:50
that may be the case because now we know that 2 days after her disappearance Myrtle Beach PD who has described
00:05:59
Britney as a quote heavy cell phone user was able to obtain Britney's cell phone
00:06:05
records and what they found immediately moved the investigation to a high priority endangered missing persons case
00:06:13
Britney's phone had pinged at 927 p.m. so 29 minutes after her last text to her boyfriend John now this this ping was
00:06:24
heading south on Route 17 in Surfside Beach 7 milth south of Myrtle Beach at a speed indicating that she was in a
00:06:33
vehicle M even more distressing police saw more pings one at 10:18 p.m. and one last ping at 11:58 p.m. these were off
00:06:44
Tower 332 which is 50 Mi South in Georgetown County near the Georgetown and Charleston County Line close to a
00:06:53
boat landing on the North Santi River and this was very concerning to invest instigators this was an area that was
00:07:02
dark Rural and Swampy the fact that Britney's phone had been in mtle beach at 900 p.m. and then beelined to this
00:07:11
godforsaken area within just a a few hours did not look promising for Britney police set up a search grid in the zone
00:07:19
covered by Tower 332 this is roughly a 4x5 mile area they're also going to be searching areas around this spot they
00:07:29
began a massive search operation Searchers used boats with sonar they used helicopters dogs horses and ATVs
00:07:38
now this is an alligator infested area along with wild bores and poisonous snakes investigators were not optimistic
00:07:48
about finding Britney here apparently they warned that if Britney or her remains were here they would likely be
00:07:55
consumed by Wildlife within 6 hours or less after 11 days of exhaustive round thee clock searching Britney's family
00:08:05
returned to Rochester Chad Drexel describes having to tell Britney's siblings one of whom was only five at
00:08:12
the time that they had failed to bring Brittney home now there were a couple theories early on in this
00:08:20
investigation as far as public information is concerned nothing happened on the case for about 8 months
00:08:27
police were convinced that the answers to where Britney was lie in the cell phone location or in the cell location
00:08:35
they cleared Peter and Britney's travel companions off of the Persons of Interest list and Don Drexel was not
00:08:43
happy about this as we had said two new theories though began to emerge around this time let's touch on them because
00:08:50
they are still supported by some to this day the first is that Britney was invited Along on this spring break trip
00:08:58
because these supposed friends of hers wanted to use her as a drug goet a few things support this Theory we know that
00:09:08
Britney was only 17 so a minor the others were all legal adults at this time if she if Britney were caught with
00:09:17
drugs in her possession it wouldn't be that bad for her in comparison to the adults now as farfetched as that sounds
00:09:26
this could make some sense though we know that that Britney told her boyfriend that these kids were using
00:09:32
drugs right Myrtle Beach is known to have a drug scene with drugs readily available in in some of the shadier
00:09:39
locations it's part of the scene man we know that these girls were not particularly nice to Britney nor did
00:09:46
they seem to care about her well-being there is some thought that the whole issue between Britney and Jen regarding
00:09:54
the shorts was actually some kind of code and that the texts were about the you know not about the shorts they were
00:10:01
actually instructions for Britney to go outside and meet a drug dealer that presumably was waiting for her and and
00:10:09
bring the drugs back to them right so that could explain why Britney had to leave Peter's Room after only having
00:10:16
been there for about 10 minutes under this Theory Britney would have fallen victim to a drug dealer perhaps a deal
00:10:23
gone bad or something even more Sinister another offshoot Theory is that Britney was given drugs by one of the
00:10:32
older kids that she was hanging out with she ODed and then they chose to dispose
00:10:37
of her body there were rumors that some of the Rochester kids had connections in the
00:10:43
Myrtle Beach area because they had once lived there or lived in the area and may
00:10:49
have had friends or Associates nearby a possible second theory is that Britney was the victim of human trafficking yeah
00:10:57
Don Drexel has has stated she believes this is the case and she has even gone so far to suggest that she believes that
00:11:05
the kids on the trip with Britney including Peter and his friends I I shouldn't say including I think this is
00:11:13
straight up pointing to Peter and his friends right deliberately set Britney up for trafficking to profit in some way
00:11:20
a plan that was hatched back in Rochester and that they took Britney to Club Kryptonite uh the group was just
00:11:28
really taking are there to show her off to potential buyers now under this theory on Saturday night Peter would
00:11:36
have texted Britney saying come here to get your flip-flops and Jen would then have possibly lured her back out to the
00:11:45
strip saying she needed her shorts right this would put Britney in a vulnerable position wandering on the Strip after
00:11:52
dark by herself there is debate about how extensive human trafficking is in in South Carolina but there were news
00:12:01
stories and reports that there is significant human trafficking business in that area in fact a member of a task
00:12:09
force set up to investigate human trafficking in South Carolina says that there are obvious reasons that
00:12:16
authorities in the area deny that human trafficking is a problem citing the tourist industry would be devastated by
00:12:24
stories of young women being abducted in any event the behavior of Britney's friends with relocating hotel rooms
00:12:32
while leaving Britney to fend for herself and checking out and leaving town in the middle of the night does
00:12:39
make them look awfully suspicious right but if if the FBI is contacting Peter and they're probably getting his phone
00:12:47
records so you'd think that by now we'd have some kind of arrest towards Peter if this this Theory actually held up
00:12:55
well and I'm totally on the side of Britney's mom of of this thought of let's look at everybody you know and of
00:13:02
course let's look at the Inner Circle the people that she was traveling with or at least the people that she knew in
00:13:08
the area at the time could they have set her up on something it's certainly a possibility yeah the problem with that
00:13:14
issue is you know while I admire her enthusiasm I question if these look this is a group of of somewhat kids I know
00:13:25
that they're all over 18 but but in comparison to how wise you and I are here from the garage how old and these
00:13:33
are merely just crumbl babies but so what I'm getting at though is would a group of teenagers of partying teenagers
00:13:41
be so clever to set this whole thing up been have connected enough to set this up and then no one would Spill the Beans
00:13:48
later well and Peter said something that I thought was pretty interesting on the
00:13:52
Dr Phil show is when he said uh the other kids in the room with me mhm he didn't say the other young adults or
00:13:59
anything I he said the other kids with me so I think that kind of shows their age to be clear though too Jen Alana
00:14:09
Peter all those people that that traveled with her or that she knew in the area at the time actually none of
00:14:16
them have to be involved in Britney's disappearance for her to have been a victim of human trafficking right you
00:14:24
know when we're looking at that theory I just think they would be check in the cell phones definitely Peter uh I wonder
00:14:30
if the FBI did anything as far as the you'd think they would uh get the phone records of the two two girls that she
00:14:38
went with and from my understanding though all those people have been cleared so they must have good reason
00:14:43
for clearing them my thought is that they have Britney's cell phone pinging miles away hours after the time they
00:14:52
believe she disappeared and they probably can account for everybody else's whereabouts during this time well
00:14:58
it's pretty simple if I don't even need to know what you're texting or who you're calling if I could get the cell
00:15:05
phone pings from all of those individuals you're hanging out with and they're not going south when you're
00:15:10
going south then they're not with you well and then there's a possible break in the case and this is coming from an
00:15:18
area that we've already discussed in 2009 in December investigator started a weekl long search this is in the area of
00:15:28
where Britney's phone had stopped pinging this Search is with 70 volunteers and police officers pouring
00:15:36
in from the area the area is about 40 Mi south of Myrtle Beach on this search they are using dive teams equipped with
00:15:45
underwater cameras while they were searching a couple brought in a pair of knockoff Prada sunglasses now these
00:15:53
looked like a pair that Britney had the couple had been searching for fire wood for their campsite and located the
00:16:01
sunglasses on the Santi Riverbank the sunglasses looked suspiciously clean however not as though that they had been
00:16:10
outside in the elements for8 months they were tested and no DNA was found on them
00:16:17
investigators are let's say to put it lightly skeptical that they even belong to Britney right here's the weird thing
00:16:25
though could someone have you know this is I'm going to be conspiracy here could
00:16:30
someone have conspiracy called in a tip and then planted these glasses to focus investigators on an area a new area uh
00:16:40
even though it's close to Old areas yeah or but in fact the wrong area right or an individual found these in their car
00:16:48
and then they decided I got to get rid of these we are made aware of the discovery we are made aware that they
00:16:54
test them for DNA that they find nothing of of Britney's on the glasses however we're not I'm not
00:17:02
certain what the update is on these glasses no point could I find information to state if they publicly
00:17:10
deter stated that they determined that these glasses had nothing to do with Britney right in January of 2010 there
00:17:18
was a task force formed by investigators from Myrtle Beach in Georgetown and Charleston
00:17:25
counties the December 20 n tip was credited for generating New Leads these leads led to Persons of Interest an
00:17:35
Evidence sufficient for law enforcement to obtain search warrants in April 2010 investigators made a bombshell
00:17:44
announcement they were looking at three to four Persons of Interest in Britney's
00:17:49
case police stated that they are confident this tip was leading them in a direction of finding who was responsible
00:17:57
police would not release any additional information on these tips out of fear that it might jeopardize the
00:18:03
investigation they did state that these Persons of Interest are suspected of being present with Britney and knowing
00:18:11
her whereabouts an investigator made one very telling statement and quote at this
00:18:17
time there is no reason to believe these people knew Britney directly he went on
00:18:23
to say that no arrest warrants had been served but lie detector test had been conducted on two of the Persons of
00:18:30
Interest they did not disclose the test results another detective stated quote all of our little pieces of evidence
00:18:39
they are all pointing in the same direction towards certain people end quote investigators described the area
00:18:46
along the Georgetown Charleston County Line where they were concentrating as a location of Interest
00:18:55
saying it is where the Persons of Interest live the information that investigators had compiled indicated
00:19:01
that Britney was no longer alive investigators were now treating her case as a homicide this without having found
00:19:09
a body they said we are on to the people we think killed her and she did not know
00:19:17
them directly and what's Curious here Captain to me and and and from some of the online chatter about this case right
00:19:25
is what did that word directly mean we hear them say that twice when they're giving us this bombshell announcement
00:19:33
that she did not know them directly meaning that Britney was was she a victim of a stranger abduction right
00:19:41
well I think maybe they use that term because we have uh the finger pointing of people
00:19:48
that she went down there with and maybe people that were you know quote unquote friends of hers so I think by saying
00:19:56
saying that statement it's kind of it's not maybe directing you towards more evidence as it might just be directing
00:20:02
you away from those people well that's why I question that word directly they did not know Britney directly you could
00:20:10
one would just naturally say they did not know Britney right but when you hear that added word of directly afterwards
00:20:17
it almost seems like maybe they knew of Britney but never met her right and she didn't know these people um you know
00:20:25
meaning maybe she was targeted and somebody provided information about her regardless it may mean nothing at all
00:20:32
but there's a part of me that when I when I watched that announcement and then reading through it again afterwards
00:20:39
it almost seems deliberate that they use that word directly brittney's High School uh graduation from the gates
00:20:47
Chile High School would have taken place on Wednesday June 23rd 2010 and her family did attend in her absence to
00:20:56
accept a honorary degree for Britney also in 2010 something happened that investigators in the Britney's case
00:21:05
could not ignore this is on July 21st when Ronda Massie age 20 she's from Tennessee she's walking on Ocean
00:21:16
Boulevard near the Blue Water Resort in Myrtle Beach this is at 4:30 p.m. in broad daylight Ronda heard what sounded
00:21:27
like a vehicle creeping behind her two men jumped from a pale blue rusted van and tried to pull her into the van's
00:21:37
interior Ronda managed to Elbow one of them in the face hard enough that his nose started bleeding in the face that's
00:21:45
right she broke free and luckily she was not taken uh captive that day so police
00:21:53
she told police that the van was driven by a third man so van being driven by a dude mhm two guys jump out of the van
00:22:01
try to grab her try to snatch her up now we don't know how police made the connection to their eventual suspect but
00:22:09
within a week they arrested a man from mullenville in connection with the kidnapping attempt this is
00:22:18
37-year-old Shawn Taylor he is charged with attempted kidnapping and first deegree
00:22:25
assault law enforcement agencies executed a search at Shawn Taylor's Home on Old Collins Creek Road in Charleston
00:22:34
County near the Georgetown county line one of the things police seized in the search was a stolen truck which they
00:22:42
linked to a homicide in Charleston County the van used in the attempted kidnapping of Ronda was never
00:22:52
located Ronda picked Shawn Taylor out of a lineup the fact that this attempted a
00:22:58
abduction was conducted in broad daylight right near the Blue Water Resort similar to the circumstances
00:23:03
under which Britney disappeared could not and should not be ignored and the same multi-jurisdictional task force
00:23:11
investigating Britney's case also investigated ronda's case now who is Shawn Taylor
00:23:18
well get ready to be impressed Captain I'm I'm super excited get your POS ready actually um let's do plural it should be
00:23:28
right persons or you never mind hold on let me get pieces oh there we go I'm ready okay okay who is Shawn Taylor
00:23:35
since 1994 Shawn Taylor had been convicted of nearly 30 offenses in Georgetown and Charleston counties some
00:23:43
of these involved driving offenses that happens some are disorderly conduct he's
00:23:48
in charge of that but others were as serious as criminal domestic violence and giving false information to police
00:23:56
there were also 17 contempt of court charges and convictions for fail failure to pay child support oh nice piece of
00:24:04
[ __ ] yeah thank you uh unfortunately to the horror of many charges were eventually dropped against Shawn Taylor
00:24:12
in the Ronda Massi abduction police told news media that surveillance video had corroborated Shawn's story that he was
00:24:22
actually elsewhere that day when the attempted abduction took place Sean Taylor came from a family with a H with
00:24:32
an interesting criminal history okay in February of 2001 Shawn's brother Randall
00:24:38
Keith Taylor was one of five men arrested and charged in connection to the death of Shannon
00:24:45
mccon Shannon was last seen leaving a Cracker Barrel restaurant in North Charleston on January 29th 1998 she was
00:24:55
only 19 years old her car was found burned in a wooded area 2 weeks later and her body was found in March of 1998
00:25:03
in a wooded area near mellenville the Charleston County Sheriff's Office alleged that Randall
00:25:10
Taylor raped and shot Shannon and received help disposing of her body Rand Randall Taylor was allegedly ratted out
00:25:19
by two men who were also arrested for this and this included another Taylor relative Jacob Taylor one of the men
00:25:27
told police that the men intended to gang rape Shannon but but Randall Taylor had quote gone berserk and killed her
00:25:35
this man changed his story uh 1 2 3 4 five six so many times that eventually these charges were
00:25:44
dismissed because of lack of evidence so they don't have much evidence in this case against this dude except for this
00:25:51
other guy these other guys saying this is what happened and when this guy changes his story a bazillion times they
00:25:57
case falls apart my gut tells me that these guys were involved in the death of this young woman keep in mind however
00:26:06
Shannon's body was later found in Northern Charleston County the same general area where investigators last

2023 [Music] all right we're back cheers MIM cheers to you captain in 2012 Fox News reported
00:28:41
that a convicted child rapist was being looked at by South Carolina law enforcement and two disappearances of
00:28:48
young women detectives said that 51-year-old Raymond Moody had been named the primary person of interest in
00:28:55
Britney's case Moody was also being looked at in connection with another missing woman 28-year-old Crystal Souls
00:29:03
both women were presumed to be dead though neither had been found in 2011 police searched an apartment where Moody
00:29:12
had lived this is the sunset Lodge Apartments they're located about 8 miles from the site of the boat landing on the
00:29:20
Santi River where the police had tracked Britney's cell phone signal to right detectives revealed to the media that
00:29:28
a registered a registered level three sex offender he was in Myrtle Beach in the area the same weekend Britney
00:29:37
disappeared we know this yeah the day after yeah because well he he was issued a speeding ticket at Surfside Beach on
00:29:45
April 26th Moody served 21 years in prison this is after he abducted a girl from a
00:29:53
California playground and sexually assaulted her in 198 83 his other convictions include three counts of rape
00:30:01
with force and violence two counts of lewd behavior on a child under the age of 14 this is according to a South
00:30:09
Carolina State Sex Offender database website now after his release for these charges from the California State Prison
00:30:17
in 2004 Moody relocated to georgtown South Carolina this is where his parents lived he worked as a cabinet maker
00:30:28
detectives said that they are investigating a possible connection between Britney's case and Crystal Souls
00:30:35
Souls 28 was last seen January 24th 2005 in Andrews South Carolina and it is believed to have been abducted as she
00:30:44
walked home after dark despite naming Moody publicly police have never been able to pin anything concrete on him for
00:30:55
as as far as I could find for either either of the disappearances of these two girls right now the the
00:31:02
investigation is going to ramp up here and this is going to be starting in April of 2012 by this point Britney's
00:31:10
been missing for 3 years her stepfather Chad Drexel announced his plans that he was going to be working with a private
00:31:18
group um and this was so that they he's hiring people to participate in this investigation to help find his daughter
00:31:28
in 20133 Don Drexel moved permanently to Myrtle Beach to be closer to Britney's last known location she wanted to make
00:31:37
sure that the case did not grow cold and while nothing happened publicly for quite a while on this case things were
00:31:44
beginning to take shape behind the scenes on June 8th 2016 a special agent in charge of the FBI in South Carolina
00:31:53
held a news conference this took place in mullenville a around the area where Britney's phone gave its last signals it
00:32:01
was attended by Britney's family and friends now it is not initially clear when or why the FBI became involved in
00:32:11
Britney's case but from the news conference it became apparent that the FBI had taken over the case and there
00:32:17
were updates well if there was evidence that Britney was kidnap then this would fall under the FBI's jurisdiction well
00:32:25
what the FBI had to say at this news conference was the following and quote what we've come to discover through the
00:32:31
course of this investigation is that Britney Drexel did leave the Myrle Beach area we believe she traveled to this
00:32:38
area around mullenville and we believe she was killed after that the FBI agent went on to say that although they had
00:32:47
not found Britney's body investigators had ex exhaustive evidence that she was held against her will for days before
00:32:56
she was killed they ended the news conference with an appeal to the people of mullenville
00:33:02
please come forward this is a very small town I think 3,000 people yeah there are
00:33:09
people who know what happened and one small piece of information could close the case so going off of the information
00:33:18
gleaned from this news conference how did investigators know that Britney was in fact dead and that she had been h
00:33:27
against her will in mullenville so let's try to piece this together from what the
00:33:32
investigation uncovered behind the scenes so in 2016 a prison inmate wrote a letter to
00:33:40
prison officials saying he knew what had happened to Britney Drexel he named names specifically someone named Timothy
00:33:48
Deshawn Taylor now does that name sound Vaguely Familiar Timothy who actually goes by his middle name DeShawn is the
00:33:57
son of Shawn Taylor the man identified in a lineup by Ronda Massie the woman who was they had attempted an abduction
00:34:07
against her in Myrtle Beach in 2010 right so the same Shawn Taylor who has a long rapi and an extended family
00:34:15
suspected of violent crimes specifically against women Timothy Deshawn Taylor lived in mullenville and was 16 when
00:34:24
Britney Drexel went missing and apparently this was not the first time that Deshawn Taylor's name had come up
00:34:31
it turns out he had been questioned in 2009 in 2016 the FBI rounded up DeShawn and
00:34:39
questioned him but he wouldn't talk at this time he said he had nothing whatsoever to do with what happened to
00:34:46
Britney but investigators weren't buying it according to the FBI and the local police departments in Myrtle Beach and
00:34:53
Georgetown County pieces of evidence they had collected throughout out the investigation also pointed to Deshawn or
00:35:00
people he knew and the FEDS figured out a way to put the squeeze on DeShawn right they brought new federal criminal
00:35:09
charges against him for an earlier crime to detain him and hopefully get him to roll over federal and state charges for
00:35:17
the same crime are not a violation of a suspect's constitutional rights against Double Jeopardy and this is how this
00:35:25
situation would work what was interesting though was when they arrested him they said that he was being
00:35:31
arrested for the kidnapping and the the murder of Britney Drexel then when he got down to the courthouse to be
00:35:38
questioned or the police department to be questioned um you know there were question about Britney and everything
00:35:44
and then eventually when there was a charge it was about this McDonald's which he had already served time for
00:35:50
right and he was a so here's what happened is they robbed a McDonald's he was the driver and he since he was young
00:35:57
at the time he didn't uh get charged as much as other people correct and then and then
00:36:03
basically um basically law enforcement came back and said well we could have charged him with conspiracy and so let's
00:36:10
do that to him now right and it's really do they give a crap about the burglary uh or the the stickup at at the
00:36:18
McDonald's no they don't they're trying to squeeze him because of this Britney drexal case right yes and and basically
00:36:25
saying yeah we know that he served some time but now we've decided that the the charges and the sentence was too lenient
00:36:34
right that this was a very organized and potentially violent crime and we need to
00:36:39
hold him further responsible for this issue but you're exactly right Captain it's most likely put the squeeze on him
00:36:47
try to get information regarding this Britney Drexel case so there's going to be a detention Hearing in the case of
00:36:56
the United States against Timothy Deshawn Taylor this is to determine if they could detain him or hold him
00:37:05
without bond on these new federal charges related to the old 2011 robbery right during the course of these
00:37:14
hearings there is an FBI agent who is going to testify during his testimony this is FBI agent Garrick
00:37:21
Munoz he alleged that Deshawn was the target of another FBI investigation an investigation into kidnapping human
00:37:31
trafficking and murder Munoz says that quote several people had come forward and given testimony outlining Deshawn's
00:37:40
involvement some of the witnesses even alleged that Deshawn was the abductor Munos was referring to the Britney
00:37:48
Drexel case there was an eyewitness named and his name is taquon Brown This is the inmate who wrote The Letter who
00:37:59
actually saw or claims to have seen Deshawn with Britney Drexel also claims to see Timothy um Timothy's father as
00:38:09
well yes and according to tawon Brown this sighting took place at what Muno on the stand referred to as a quote Stash
00:38:20
House so no one lived at this location but apparently Deshawn and others several others had access to this place
00:38:30
and according to the statement that they received from Brown was that on April 29th 2009 which was the Wednesday after
00:38:39
Britney disappeared according to this eyewitness he was visiting this stash house to make a payment of some sort to
00:38:47
Shawn Taylor to Shawn's father he says that when he entered the home or entered the stash house he passed through it on
00:38:55
his way out back in passing through he said he saw Britney stripped and tied to a bed beaten and she apparently was
00:39:06
attempting to escape the weird thing here about this statement Captain is that that Brown
00:39:12
says he's just passing through we we've seen a lot of these type of yeah just passing through man a lot of these type
00:39:18
of confessions where people say hey I hey I have some knowledge and I might be guilty of something but I'm not guilty
00:39:23
of everything that you think I could be or that I'm willing to admit to right so
00:39:28
Brown says he's just passing through this stash house but obviously he must have taken his time or
00:39:34
sometime if he absorbed all of that all of those uh observations let's say he says that he then stepped outside with
00:39:43
Shawn Taylor and at this time Britney must have escaped and ran out of the room and then outside mhm she was
00:39:52
eventually caught by someone pistol whipped and brought back back inside the house Shawn Taylor went into the house
00:40:00
as well Brown says he stayed outside where he heard two gunshots fired then he said he saw a quote wrapped up body
00:40:10
being removed from the stash house and placed in a pickup truck I don't have any better of a description of that
00:40:18
portion of his story than a wrapped up body being moved from the stash house and placed in a pickup truck Muno says
00:40:25
secondhand information had come in support of Brown's statements the FBI interviewed a prisoner at Georgetown
00:40:32
Penitentiary that heard from another source that Deshawn was the one who picked her up in Myrtle Beach right
00:40:40
there's also some rumors that there was some eyewitnesses around town roughly about four of them now keep in mind this
00:40:47
is this is secondhand prison informant information right so a lot of times you have to take this
00:40:55
with a grain of salt I think think but we have another person claiming to back this up so this person said that Deshawn
00:41:03
had picked Britney up brought her down to mullenville and quote showed her off and ended up tricking her out then there
00:41:12
was a lot of publicity from her disappearance and so she was disposed of several witnesses have said that Miss
00:41:20
Drexel's body was then placed into a gator pit to have her body disposed of eaten by the Gators and right whatever I
00:41:30
don't want to go too much into that Muno went on to say that they had several people show them locations where they
00:41:37
thought the body was but it he went on to say that look there's possibly 30 or 40 of these locations where she could be
00:41:47
and we also have those earlier statements by the FBI an investigator stating that if her remains were taken
00:41:53
to this location or if she was taken to this this location it might be tough to find any trace of her after short of a
00:42:02
period of time as 6 hours Munos also alleged that at the time of this hearing taquan Brown was serving 25
00:42:11
years in prison for voluntary manslaughter obstruction of justice and possession of a weapon by a felon so
00:42:20
that's where I bring that up only so we all can question is this a reliable Witness
00:42:26
is this reliable information that they've received right the judge would go on to refuse to rule on des's
00:42:34
detention on that day during that course of that hearing whether they could hold
00:42:38
him for a pending plea deal saying that he could not rule on DeShawn being a danger to society because he needed to
00:42:47
know more information about this brown character and his reliability and whether he was looking for a sentence
00:42:55
reduction why is he coming forward with this information or is he making it up right desa's attorney said two of the
00:43:01
men supposedly named by Brown as being at the Stash House were actually in prison at the time of when this story
00:43:09
would have taken place Brown named several men in his letter now each one of these is a different man okay so this
00:43:18
is Rooster homie Cruz Foot Skills 40 QB and snow bunny and now if you can pick out of those what do you want your
00:43:29
nickname to be none of them I go with foot I want nothing to do with it call me foot and of course he also named
00:43:35
Shawn and Des Shawn Taylor but law enforcement apparently has not been able to identify the real names or real
00:43:42
identities of these people that were they were only provided nicknames or Coden names by Brown well some of those
00:43:49
names just sound completely made up yeah yeah we we called our good good buddy foot snow bunny well his lawyer also
00:44:00
pointed out that Deshawn cooperated with the robbery investigation the one from 2011 and he wasn't actually in the M the
00:44:09
Mickey D's when it was robbed he was just the driver he didn't have a criminal record at the time of that uh
00:44:17
charge of when that crime was yep so there he's stating look we know that he received a lighter sentence than these
00:44:25
other people involved but I'm standing you today judge to say he got what he deserved he actually
00:44:31
deserved a lighter sentence because he was not inide the location he was only 16 he had no priors yeah he didn't have
00:44:38
a gun on him and also um I don't know if how much you want to dive into this part
00:44:45
of it but also with this confession you know this jailhouse confession the dates
00:44:52
and the times that he gave uh they were able to provide to the FBI um you know that Timothy was in school during these
00:45:02
times that he was supposedly at this Stash House well yes um okay so the information I could find was that they
00:45:10
could they could back up that he was in school the Monday Tuesday Wednesday MH so but on the same hand the FBI has
00:45:20
stated repeatedly that Deshawn and his associates in mullenville as being the ones responsible for abducting Britney
00:45:29
raping killing and disposing of her body I just feel like they're uh throwing this guy under the bus a little bit well
00:45:36
one thing that there is one more thing about Deshawn that we should discuss something that may cast out on the
00:45:42
informant story that you know Deshawn was the one who physically and violently abducted Britney from Ocean Boulevard on
00:45:51
the night of April 25 2009 right deshan Taylor only has one arm so when he was 4
00:45:59
years old he was in his grandfather's auto shop and a car fell on him his left arm which was his uh dormant one or
00:46:09
dominant one I'm sorry dormant one was his dominant one had to be amputated because of this incident this accident
00:46:17
right so you know a a a girl that you know we pointed out that she's small but we also have people pointing out look
00:46:25
she's fast and she was she was a tough small girl right and so if he did this by himself it
00:46:32
seems like an uphill battle for him let's say this almost points out to it's like you know fighting a battle with one
00:46:40
arm tied behind your back yeah literally it is but the thing is though it also points to the possibility
00:46:48
of here's my thing uhhuh it actually I think points a little bit more towards this statement being possibly true
00:46:56
meaning that there were several others if not many others that were involved in this on some level and what I mean by
00:47:04
that is we have this situation with DeShawn having one arm but we also have the situation that you pointed out about
00:47:10
him being in school during the time that she was held captive let's say if the FBI theory is correct this is you know
00:47:18
Wednesday Monday Tuesday Wednesday so but according to the story and according to that information even if he did go to
00:47:25
school on that Monday Tuesday and Wednesday there is nothing to say that Deshawn couldn't have left her in the
00:47:33
hands of some of his co-conspirators I agree with all that but don't we have the one girl that was almost abducted
00:47:39
and she is basically saying uh Deshawn's father was the one that tried to grab her that's correct but then we proven
00:47:49
that that wasn't a true statement so I think there's a lot of people that are trying to throw people under the bus and
00:47:56
then you mentioned Britney's stepfather hiring the private investigators and a private team so then they came out with
00:48:03
statements later saying that they handed a flyer to Deshawn and that he crumbled
00:48:09
it up and threw it back at him yeah uh which was never proven to be true and they also claimed that they followed him
00:48:17
back to around the same area where Britney's DNA was found mhm you of course they're going to fall him back to
00:48:25
to roughly the area where our DNA was found well one we have no report that DNA was found but we're talking about a
00:48:33
very small town so to even say he's a block away from it or whatever that doesn't prove anything well and I'm glad
00:48:40
you pointed that out because the only thing that I could find Captain was that we have we have Chad
00:48:47
Drexel he's the one that publicly posted a statement that he knows of DNA evidence specifically Britney's DNA mhm
00:48:56
that is in investigator's possession and that can be linked to Deshawn and like right and there's no
00:49:04
proof of this we we there's no proof of it even existing right but we also have a guy that has Co cooperated with FBI
00:49:12
said full on out after this long interview I will I will do anything they want me to do anything that they think I
00:49:20
can help with to get answers I will do and I will continue to do that's what he's done he's taken a lie detector um
00:49:28
that now they haven't came out and fully said hey he took a lie detector and he passed it but when he took the lie
00:49:34
detector that was that was a couple years ago so if I don't know it's it just seems this seems kind of like a
00:49:42
crazy Witch Hunt and it all stems from uh jail house confession I don't know that it does and and and I'll get into
00:49:49
my thoughts on that here in a little bit I want to kind of go to bat for for Chad
00:49:53
Drexel here for a second the reason you know I say what he his statement about the DNA should be taken with a grain of
00:49:59
salt and this is because obviously he's a grieving father who until she is found
00:50:06
he will unfortunately forever be a grieving father grieving his daughter's disappearance and possible death um so
00:50:18
may could he have heard something from investigators could investigators have suggested to him that there's a
00:50:24
possibility that there might be DNA somewhere and maybe he kind of latched onto that hope
00:50:31
and and ran with it a little bit that's certainly a possibility um the thing though is
00:50:38
regarding the DNA if that were true if there were actual evidence of Britney's DNA that could be linked to Timothy
00:50:47
Deshawn Taylor MH he would have been arrested Deshawn Taylor would have been arrested not just pressured with the
00:50:53
threat of unrelated criminal charges he would have actually have been arrested for that now where you point out that
00:51:02
that the only link to this is a prison informant yes that's true in some sense the other truth though that's out there
00:51:12
and this is Deshawn Taylor's words you know why were you initially spoke to in 2009 and then all these years later
00:51:20
there's information coming out that you might have been in connection with the stash house and you were in connection
00:51:26
with Britney's disappearance well his own words are I was questioned in 2009 from his understanding or at least what
00:51:32
he tells the media is that he was told that everyone in mlen Ville was being questioned back in 2009 because like you
00:51:42
pointed out this is not a heavily populated area right and when you have the the last pinpointed pings of her
00:51:50
cell phone are in this area and you have a small population to deal with it's fairly easy for them to do just what he
00:51:59
believes or what he says to media and question everyone there so while we do have this connection
00:52:07
through the prison informant if Deshawn Taylor's words are correct well actually his words don't
00:52:14
even have to be correct there is some evidence to show that there is a mullenville
00:52:19
connection which we know him to have been part of that community and it's a small population that Community right
00:52:27
the other tricky thing here too Captain is that and this is just me making leaps
00:52:34
on my own but you know where people question could he have abducted her by himself I want to throw this little
00:52:42
tidbit in there we have this young man who at one time he was a high school athlete this is a person that has
00:52:50
obviously learned to overcome the disability of having one arm he was a high school athlete he had went to
00:52:57
school to be a auto mechanic and this was a job that he performed and he worked for his father
00:53:06
the information I have here is that he worked for his father and his father owned some kind of tow truck company
00:53:11
some kind of towing company I I'm making a bit of a leap here but it's not too far-fetched to believe that this guy
00:53:19
whether it be Deshawn Taylor or his father Shawn Taylor mhm one of them could have been driving a tow truck saw
00:53:27
a girl walking by herself and stopped and offered a ride and she could have seen the tow truck with the business
00:53:36
printed on the side of the door and felt some sense of security some sense of oh
00:53:42
maybe I could get in here or at least long enough to engage in conversation to which somebody would
00:53:49
would have the the unfortunate opportunity to abduct her yeah yeah and my argument there would we we have
00:53:57
thousands of people on this trip I think they would have a lot of more eyewitnesses talking about a tow truck I
00:54:04
think I po I only point that out because I think it's food for thought and I've not seen it pointed out anywhere else no
00:54:10
no I think I I think at this point everything needs to be looked at so I mean it's definitely a an angle that I
00:54:17
haven't heard and we have no ey Witnesses at this point anyway so that that leads us to a good a good summation
00:54:25
of this because where are we now Captain well this year in January of 2018 Deshawn was scheduled to be
00:54:34
sentenced for the federal charges again these not related to Britney's case but this hearing was delayed due to an
00:54:43
unspecific matter of law MH so since then Deshawn has made a motion to change attorneys actually from from what I saw
00:54:53
online and on TV I thought his attorney was giving him pretty good representation but right I'm not the
00:55:01
client it's not up to me to decide if he thinks he's receiving good representation so anyway he's decided to
00:55:07
change attorneys this lawyer switch has delayed the um the hearing further the government has recommended a sentence of
00:55:16
10 to 20 years against Desa Taylor I believe that the plea deal also provides so they they are offering him straight
00:55:27
up a plea deal mhm if you have information on other cases specifically Britney Drexel's case we might be able
00:55:34
to work something out here and I believe that this plea deal also provides that if a third person if a third party comes
00:55:42
forward and provides substantial assistance this being information about Britney's case on Deshawn's behalf if
00:55:50
they can back up his his statement then this would further reduce the sentence Britney's mother Dawn since this has
00:56:01
gone down has remarried she said to the media in February of 2018 quote to us it
00:56:08
looks like it's not going anywhere this is her referring to the investigation she said her phone calls to
00:56:15
investigators haven't been returned lately and now she's retaining private investigators of her own to find out
00:56:23
once and for all where br he is all right so I want to be clear on something so I call him Timothy Taylor because
00:56:30
everything that I read this whole week that's what they call it you you are not right or I mean you're not right you are
00:56:36
not wrong in fact I was thinking of my my uh phrase there you are exactly right because technically that's his legal
00:56:43
name Timothy Taylor but just to be clear we're talking about the same person Timothy Deshawn Taylor right so first of
00:56:50
all I I believe in fully in my heart that this Double Jeopardy uh McDonald's charge is complete horeshit and this
00:57:00
would not have happened if he was a white uh white kid with some money um that just just wouldn't happen I stand
00:57:09
by that comment every day of the week I now I do believe that this informant is telling a story he heard and I think
00:57:20
there is some truth to it I think the players involved in the story I don't think there's a lot of Truth there but
00:57:28
it's such a small town we have her cell phone pings we have these Alligator Pit areas it makes sense the story makes
00:57:37
sense I just don't think they have the right um players involved in the story or the right characters involved in the
00:57:44
story correct yeah that I mean that's very interesting for for several reasons because one thing and this is just mind
00:57:55
this is just an inference that I made but it seems to be that the portion okay here's what I really want
00:58:02
to happen in this case if I could pick one thing you know that you know of course without without finding Brit
00:58:08
Britney that's not an option let's say right but if I had a genie and a lamp and I could make one request it would be
00:58:14
to get to either confirm or obliterate this story because I think right now this is really holding up the
00:58:22
investigation and I think that that might be why Britney's mother has not heard from investigators I think that
00:58:28
they are fully immersed in this potential uh informant that they've heard from and I think that they are
00:58:36
fully diving into this portion of the investigation and I think until this story can either be confirmed or removed
00:58:43
from the case it's going to hold a lot of crap up MH and I think you're right I think what might be holding it up is
00:58:50
there might be some truth to this case to this story and it doesn't have to go down exactly how this tawon brown said
00:58:58
that it went down now the interesting thing here though the inference that I made was it's the the where the truth
00:59:04
lies in this seems to be that law enforcement thinks that this is a real story because they seem to believe this
00:59:11
is an actual Stash House okay so local law enforcement and FBI that's the first part of the story that you can go ahead
00:59:19
and confirm that this guy is telling you the truth or outright lying right you go
00:59:24
to the that he claims is called a Stash House you go there and if it's known by local law enforcement to be just that
00:59:32
well there there might be some truth to this guy's story right and and also if you do any tests and you find any DNA
00:59:39
from from Britney there then obviously that's another part of the story that's correct and I would also like to know
00:59:45
what law enforcement means by uh Taylor Deshawn Taylor whether it be him or his father or both had quote access to this
00:59:55
Stash House what does that mean does that mean access in the sense that just anybody could walk in there or does that
01:00:02
mean that specific people only had access to this stash house here's where I had hold out some
01:00:09
hope though that this story is wrong and not that I don't want this to be solved
01:00:16
but the description of that story and you know it's so horrific that you personally I don't want the story to be
01:00:25
right where I hold out some hope that that story is not correct is that I would think that if they could identify
01:00:32
this as being a stash house now mind you I do understand that it's seven eight years later that you would think if
01:00:40
things went down the way that it was described by that prison informant in that in that home in that house that
01:00:48
they would have some proof of that later and it doesn't seem to be the case mhm if so so we've not heard anything even
01:00:56
though law enforcement said that they ruled out everybody that Britney knew from Rochester I need to know where
01:01:03
their cell phone pings happen and I think if they could provide that information to the public then you can
01:01:09
lay to rest those people being any suspects or any person of interest and I hope and pray that there is some
01:01:17
movement on this case very soon for the Drexel family [Music] if you are a podcast head you know who
