November 16, 2023 / 58:40

This episode covers the disappearance of Shawn Patrick McDuffy Jr, the violent history of his family, and the drug-related circumstances surrounding his case. Key discussions include Shawn's troubled childhood, his father's criminal past, and the events leading up to his disappearance in December 2015.

Shawn Patrick McDuffy Jr was last seen on December 20, 2015, after picking up his friend Eric Brown for a trip to North Carolina. Investigators expressed concerns of foul play after Shawn's rental vehicle was found abandoned. The episode details Shawn's difficult upbringing, including abuse from his father, Shawn McDuffy Sr, who was later convicted of violent crimes.

The narrative shifts to the drug scene in Calhoun, Georgia, where Shawn became involved in illegal activities. The episode discusses his connections with local drug dealers, including a woman named Stephanie, and the potential conflicts that arose from these relationships.

Shawn's last known interactions included a phone call with his girlfriend, Brandy King, during which he expressed fears of being followed. He went missing shortly after this call, leading to a search that ultimately resulted in his being reported missing on December 26, 2015.

The episode concludes with a reflection on the lack of information surrounding Shawn's case and the ongoing investigation into his disappearance.

TLDR

Shawn Patrick McDuffy Jr vanished in 2015 amid drug-related conflicts and a troubled family history, raising concerns of foul play.

00:03:41
2015 this is when he planned a trip to North Carolina from which he was scheduled to return within a day or two
00:03:48
a friend spoke to him by phone on December 21st at about 6:30 p.m. and that is the last contact anyone has had
00:03:57
with Shawn since investigators have interviewed several people pertaining to this investigation
00:04:06
and are continuing to follow up on numerous leads his rental vehicle a gray 2015 Dodge 1500 pickup truck was found
00:04:16
abandoned on December 30th 2015 in Clay County North Carolina the detectives in North

00:04:50
whereabouts of Shawn Patrick McDuffy Jr is asked to call the coun police department at 706
00:04:57
6291 123 3 [Music] [Applause] 4 by the end of 2015 Shawn Patrick McDuffy Jr according to the state of
00:05:24
Georgia was officially a missing person on December 20th 20 5 before hitting the
00:05:31
road Shawn asked his ex-wife if he could take his kids along for a ride to North
00:05:36
Carolina it was going to be a quick trip to drop off his friend Eric Brown Sean's
00:05:42
ex-wife well she knew better and she said no because Shawn likely had more than just dropping off his friend in his
00:05:50
plans around 9:30 p.m. that night Shawn picked up Eric Brown and away they went Eric to Clay County North Carolina and
00:05:59
Shawn into a missing person's file now Shawn Patrick McDuffy Jr his life was not an easy one some kids have a bad
00:06:07
childhood Shawn he was raised by a monster Shawn's earliest years would be filled with severe violence from the
00:06:15
start Shawn and his little sister Megan had the odds stacked against them as children life at home was lived on the
00:06:22
edge and full of fear their father sha Patrick McDuffy senior was a drug addicted tyrant a man who used fear
00:06:30
tactics and pain to control his wife and children the family only survived because of the kid's mother this is
00:06:37
Kathy McDuffy while she had stopped loving sha senior a long time ago she stayed with him because he had warned
00:06:45
her many times about what would happen to her if she decided to leave him so Kathy did everything she could to try to
00:06:52
keep the peace and try to provide a normal childhood for her children but to do that to keep the peace she she knew
00:07:00
her and her children they had to follow the rules that were laid down by Sha senior an unreasonable and selfish man
00:07:07
well not only would he beat his wife but to escalate things even further to torture the children he would beat his
00:07:15
wife in front of the children now when little Shawn Jr was about 7 years old he would at times this is at the point
00:07:21
where he's going to begin to stand up to Shawn Senor well one time his dad locked
00:07:26
Shawn JR out of the house and so Shawn Jun broke a window to get back into the house and he had enough now mind you
00:07:35
even at this young age he is going to know how to be extremely violent himself because he has witnessed extreme
00:07:42
violence so much in his young life so Shawn Jr goes and grabs a knife from the kitchen and he takes it over to sha
00:07:51
Senor and he holds the knife against his father like I said this was when he was
00:07:56
just seven years old like you can't even you can't even say that things are spiraling out of control in the house
00:08:03
because by now it's already out of control way out of control and the kids are just s and four years old so extreme
00:08:11
chaos basically inside this house yeah this is not a house party of violence this is a hotel party of violence so
00:08:18
staying there eventually became impossible Kathy realized the path her family was on could not continue right
00:08:24
and what a difficult situation when you have kids involved but you have a situation where if you leave you are
00:08:30
been threatened with possible the murder of you possibly the murder of your your
00:08:36
children but you also are stuck in a situation where if you stay this is going to continue oh yeah the violence
00:08:45
is going to continue and if you if you stay it might be a death sentence as well right it could escalate to that and
00:08:51
it and it seems to be on that path and you know it took a long time but somehow Kathy She Found the courage to leave but
00:08:58
you see no one leaves Shawn senior M he found Kathy and he found the kids and he
00:09:06
ordered Shawn Jr and Megan to sit on the couch and then he explained to everyone
00:09:13
to Kathy and to his children that nobody leaves him and he demonstrated what happens when somebody does leave him he
00:09:21
then proceeded to Slit Kathy's throat in front of his shocked children sha Senor
00:09:28
fled the scene and the kids helped their mother and called 911 the authorities arrived and transported Kathy to the
00:09:35
hospital and with three eyewitnesses law enforcement started the case against sha
00:09:41
Senor and the amount of trauma that these children had to deal with I mean it's unimaginable well this horrible
00:09:49
crime took place in March of 1996 so sha Jr and his little sister Megan the kids
00:09:56
they would have only been about like 8 and five or or N9 and six years old at the time so they're still very little
00:10:02
kids yeah Shan senior he was tracked down and arrested he was charged with and later convicted of aggravated
00:10:09
assault and two counts of Cruelty to Children for this he gets 20 years in the can Kathy survived this horrific
00:10:17
attack but the pain was far from over as she suffered through a long rehab from the injuries he didn't get charged with
00:10:25
attempted murder he may have but the conviction was for aggravated assault so I's not happy about that one
00:10:35
yeah I don't know what he was charging he should have slit his throat there's some little bits of legal jargon
00:10:41
involved in those in those charges right no legal jargon if you just slit his throat then send him to the you know ER
00:10:49
but slit his throat first well these were horrible injuries that Kathy suffered from this attack and she
00:10:58
suffered through a long long rehab from these injuries as well only to come out the other end of this thing addicted to
00:11:05
painkillers and as we have discussed on this show so many times and unfortunately we see it on the news
00:11:11
daily people easily get addicted to things like painkillers to prescribed medication and when they can no longer
00:11:19
get what they need uh they become Reliant that they've become reliant on or it gets too expensive well Kathy like
00:11:27
so many others turn to Street drugs to fill her addiction well think a lot big Pharma and this ultimately would mean
00:11:35
that Shawn Jr and Megan well now they had no one their father's locked up and their mother has come out of this
00:11:42
addicted to drugs no the kids are going to be placed into the foster care yeah sha Jr he ended up living with one
00:11:48
Foster family and Megan she was a little bit younger so during the course of her
00:11:53
childhood she would live with two different foster care families but Shawn Patrick McDuffy senior well his violent
00:12:01
history it actually started well before he met Kathy and well before he ended up
00:12:06
having two children with her right in 2007 an old dying man has One Last Wish left and it is something this poor man
00:12:15
had to wait a long time for because way back in 1985 on February 21st Kelly McDuffy age
00:12:24
24 and his wife Bobby Michelle McDuffy age they were found dead in their home on
00:12:31
squirrel Street in the Bonnie Dune Community both had suffered sharp force trauma to their upper bodies authorities
00:12:39
said news Accounts at the time reported when when they were found a butcher knife was still in Kelly mcduffy's side
00:12:47
yeah why why wouldn't they just say like stab wounds or or is it because how the
00:12:53
butcher knife would hit them that I don't know Captain that's a good question I I wondered that myself but
00:13:00
but all reports State suffered sharp force trauma and with a knife being found in
00:13:06
one of the victims you would think it'd be fairly obvious that it would they were stabbed to death well I think
00:13:10
that's the first time we've ever heard that we normally hear blunt force trauma right maybe this is a
00:13:18
uh I was going to say maybe this is like a a fancy Backwoods term for stabed to death sharp suffered sharp force trauma
00:13:26
to their upper bodies but now looking at this Captain I think what they what they're calling a butcher knife they
00:13:33
probably actually mean like a Cleaver yeah that's where my mind went that's what I was thinking a Cleaver so my bad
00:13:39
you were trying to clean that up for us and that's probably why they use that term uh because of the weapon that was
00:13:46
used in this attack now Shawn Patrick McDuffy senior he's the brother-in-law to the two murdered victims and he
00:13:53
actually lived with his brother and sister-in-law at the time of their deaths of their murder so he was
00:13:58
considered the prime suspect very early on in this investigation now this causes
00:14:04
him to flee all the way to the State of Arizona well at some point in 1986 he is located and arrested they
00:14:13
find him in Phoenix and they brought him all the way back to fville so let's just
00:14:17
be clear we got this violent douche nozzle right and he's living with these two people and they're murdered his
00:14:28
brother and his sister-in-law right and they're murdered and then he's a suspect
00:14:32
and then he goes on the Run yeah he goes like force Gump on the run and then they
00:14:39
find him mhm and he's not charged with the crime no no no they find him they bring him back all the way to fville
00:14:47
they they charge him they book him and he's jailed for this while they're going to await trial okay you know but what
00:14:55
ends up being there ends up being an issue here probably some technicality I don't know because I couldn't find the
00:15:02
exact cause of this with you know and exact details of mcduffy's arrest but a judge at some point said that there was
00:15:09
no probable cause for the arrest and so he's released the case went cold and it wasn't really being worked I'm so
00:15:19
confused there's no probable cause he's a he is the number one suspect in this murder well he's a suspect but but you
00:15:26
have to have probable evidence to arrest the guy and I like I said I we don't have the details of it to so to kind of
00:15:35
dig through it would be we we we wouldn't know if there was wrongdoing or or if this was rightfully turned over or
00:15:43
not but what we do know is once McDuffy is released this case goes cold and it wasn't really being worked in my opinion
00:15:51
it basically just sat there closed until over 20 years later and we've seen situations like this before where the
00:15:59
the guys and girls that have to go out and work the crime the investigators the police officers mhm they they this is a
00:16:06
situation where they know who did it basically and a lawyer a prosecutor is saying we can't convict so it's kind of
00:16:14
a it's kind of a closed case you know it's other cases hit your desk you start working them and you just kind of have
00:16:22
to be reluctant and and and know that this one might have got past you somehow well right and the fact that they
00:16:29
collect all the evidence and then they try to bring this guy to trial and it can't happen I mean I don't know how
00:16:36
much more they could do unless they could get him to slip up and confess you know that that' be a very difficult
00:16:42
thing to be a part of law enforcement to you know pretty much know 100% that somebody is guilty especially of a
00:16:50
heinous crime like this right a double homicide and you can't do anything it's like your hands are tied behind your
00:16:57
back right and so basically it sits closed it's technically an open case but as far as the people working it it's
00:17:05
kind of a a closed case until over 20 years later this is when Bobby mcduffy's dying father he asked investigators to
00:17:13
please take one more look at this thing you know so he he actually asked a family friend to contact the Cumberland
00:17:22
County Sheriff's Office and asked them to reopen the case so with the aid of invest tigators who worked the case back
00:17:29
in 1985 they got new homicide detectives on this they were all on the job together
00:17:36
working through this thing pulling you using all their resources together to to get this thing down get it done once and
00:17:44
for all so they dug through the boxes of evidence looking at investigative notes
00:17:50
and crime scene photos and even all these years later everything that they had really still pointed to the guy that
00:17:57
they had suspected Ed all along Shawn Patrick McDuffy senior you would think that there'd be some kind of DNA or
00:18:04
fingerprint or or something well the interesting thing here is their guy that they like for this double homicide well
00:18:13
he's not out on the run at this point he's sitting in a Cell uh for trying to kill the mother of his children MH he's
00:18:20
sitting in a Cell down in Georgia so time would only prove that Kathy had been right all of those years about not
00:18:29
Crossing sha senior she was right to be terrified of leaving him and setting him
00:18:35
off on some kind of murderous Rampage because he was he was already a murderer by the time he met Kathy and married her
00:18:42
and had children with her yeah he was a real prick knows so while he's in prison
00:18:46
the the police had a chance to question him about the double homicide Cold Case and close close to 24 years to the day
00:18:56
after the young couple was found slain in their home a grand jury indicted Shawn McDuffy Senor for these two
00:19:03
murders he was 48 years old by the time the charges came down the wire and the charges wore two counts of first-degree
00:19:12
murder Shawn McDuffy Senor took the opportunity to then confess to killing both people over a what he referred to
00:19:20
as a drug dispute uh probably a slippery way for him to avoid the death penalty is my guess what was life like for these
00:19:30
children living under one roof with a a seething murderer how do how do these kids come out mentally healthy from this
00:19:39
type of childhood I I cannot even begin to wrap my my head around that it's almost impossible and like we said it
00:19:47
you know Kathy came out of this situation addicted to drugs but it it took some years but she found the
00:19:53
strength to beat her addiction and to get her life back on track she she reestablished her relationship with her
00:20:00
children and she began to live as much of a normal life as she possibly could her relationship with Shawn Jr her son
00:20:08
healed and they loved and maintained contact with each other Megan the daughter became the rock of the family
00:20:15
she was the most stable of the three and she grew up to be a great mother a loving and supportive daughter and she
00:20:23
did her best to be Shawn Jr's sister and friend now Shan was able to he was unable to finish High School it it
00:20:31
wasn't that he wasn't smart enough to make passing grades he began to take up with the wrong people for Megan she
00:20:39
escaped her father and entered into foster care at a younger age than her brother and that was what got her out of
00:20:46
the cycle of violence but Shawn he was in only in foster care for a very short period of time and so it seems like he
00:20:54
never really got very far from that cycle of violence and Drug [Music] drugs this show is sponsored by better

00:23:33
drugs and when this took place his mother Kathy and his little sister Megan who is now grown realized that they both
00:23:39
had to take a step back so they didn't get pulled down or sucked into this cycle as well they've already
00:23:45
experienced this once and more than enough for one lifetime as time went on Kathy kept in touch with Shawn Jr who
00:23:54
now had kids of his own she was always there you know if anybody needed anything but at a a bit of a distance
00:24:01
and Megan was there watching from the outside as well because she wanted to keep her own children away from the
00:24:08
negative influences uh that she saw and her brother because she grew up with this stuff and she was not going to put
00:24:15
her children or have her children witness the things that she had to experience in her young life now this is
00:24:23
an interesting case for us Captain because we were asked to cover this one and it it was interesting in a sense
00:24:30
that we were asked to cover it and there's really no information out there that's easily accessible or readily
00:24:38
available to to tell the story of this missing person sea McDuffy Jr there if you go online or if you go to the news
00:24:48
sources you will find mention of him you will find mention of him having gone missing and the his vehicle being found
00:24:57
ultim Ely though you will find more information on the cases involving his father of the double homicide and of the
00:25:05
attempted murder of of Shawn Jr's mom but there's really not a whole lot of information on Sha senior either or his
00:25:14
horrible crimes so and there's even much much less regarding Shawn Patrick McDuffy Jr's disappearance so what we
00:25:22
had to do here is something that we don't get a chance to do with every case we just made it all up yeah and it's a
00:25:29
really good story no we we what we did was we reached out to some people in the the small town of coun yeah to find out
00:25:37
what was going on because Shawn Patrick McDuffy Jr he went missing in 2015 the reason why we were asked to
00:25:46
cover this case and I you know I had to tell the person outright I don't know that we can because I don't know that
00:25:52
there's enough information here for us to be able to tell a story I mean it was literally
00:25:58
if you look at the stuff it's literally a 5-minute story mhm and so I said all right let's see what we can dig up let's
00:26:05
get some people involved and see what we can find in Calhoun and what's going on
00:26:10
there because the reason why we were asked to cover this case Captain with it with him going missing in 2015 we're
00:26:16
about 2 and a half years into his disappearance the there's the threat of this case going cold and going cold very
00:26:24
soon and if if things don't start to happen in this investigation we may never know what ended up happening to
00:26:31
Shawn Patrick McDuffy Jr so we're going to go through stuff that we found and things that we uncovered when we spoke
00:26:39
to the people of Calhoun so Shawn Jr's path in life may have forever been rerouted when he and
00:26:49
his cousin DJ were robbed during a drug deal because this would be the first meeting with a woman that we are going
00:26:56
to call Stephanie mhm now rumor that's not a real name correct rumor has it that Stephanie is a bit of a big deal
00:27:04
regarding the drug scene in coun now I read some statements given that some people think that at one time she may
00:27:11
have run the meth business in Calhoun according to other Rumors in Calhoun Stephanie had a practice of setting up
00:27:18
drug deals and also setting up a stage robbery at the same time this way she would get the cash and be able to keep
00:27:26
the drugs as as well so she she wins pays off some fake robber or robbers and all else involved well they lose and
00:27:34
they get scammed this was not a uh one-time deal for her either she did this setup job on several occasions on
00:27:43
one incident it is stated that Stephanie even paid a woman that we will call Sunshine she paid her about $20 or so to
00:27:51
punch Stephanie in the face after one of these stage robberies went bad because she needed to further stage the scene
00:27:58
making it look like Stephanie herself was a victim in this situation now remember Shawn and DJ they had been
00:28:06
robbed by Stephanie during this drug deal so later Shawn and DJ out they they now know what actually went down at some
00:28:15
point and one night while Shawn and his friend Tyler were out driving around they spotted Stephanie on the streets
00:28:22
and after they saw her they decided they were going to go and get their drugs back or their money back whichever was
00:28:29
stolen from them during the stage robbery Tyler wanted to approach Stephanie immediately but Shawn wanted
00:28:35
to go and get DJ the other person that was robbed in the situation they picked up DJ and later
00:28:43
they found Stephanie at some kind of hotel now DJ approached Stephanie and demanded drugs or cash or both from her
00:28:51
because of this robbery so they basically roll up on her and say hey look we know what happened we want our
00:28:57
stuff back yeah Stephanie you little skank we want our stuff back now we either we're either going to get the
00:29:02
drugs back or you're going to give me the money for the drugs right and at that time when they roll up on her she
00:29:09
didn't have drugs or cash on her but she had an idea and Stephanie supplier is a
00:29:16
dude that we will call bigan they here's her idea MH she's going to get Shawn and
00:29:24
DJ in on a little bit of this action she can't give them back cash or give them back drugs so what she's going to do is
00:29:31
she's kind of a big deal these two guys are small time she's going to let them in on some of her action by introducing
00:29:38
them to her supplier that we're going to call bigan so what they did was they had
00:29:45
DJ and Tyler stay put but Shawn Jr decided he would leave and go with Stephanie to meet this bigin character
00:29:53
while there wherever this rendevu took place they Reed received drugs and that this was supposed to be
00:30:01
the equivalent of what was stolen from them so this is a way of to kind to introduce them to to this supplier and
00:30:10
as well as give them back some of what they were robbed of okay I'm just trying to follow you we got Shawn Jr we got
00:30:18
skankasaurus Rex Stephanie and now we have bigan mhm and they're going to give them u a set amount of drugs that will
00:30:28
but they're not giving it to them they have to sell this this the these drugs I don't know what they have to do with it
00:30:34
it's my understanding that they were given some uh stash of drugs to repay them for the robbery that they were
00:30:41
aware of well this we say that this may have rerouted Shawn Jr's life because there's a chance that this whole robbery
00:30:50
deal meeting bigan and then Stephanie trying to make amends with Shawn right this could be the start of possibly what
00:30:59
led to his disappearance because after Stephanie makes amends with Shawn Jr it it starts to look like you know remember
00:31:08
we said Stephanie is rumored to be some sort of boss so from the outside looking
00:31:13
in it actually now looks like Shawn is working with or most likely working for Stephanie at some point that they
00:31:20
developed a working relationship so what this for this new working relationship to begin an old one
00:31:29
had to end meaning Stephanie would not be creating a new position or a new job for Shawn Jr she would actually be
00:31:36
replacing someone with Shawn Jr and that brings a guy that we will call go forth
00:31:43
into the picture he was a guy that worked dealing for Stephanie and to put it plain and simple go forth played the
00:31:51
role and played the role that now she had promoted Shawn to so Sha's in go forth is out this left go forth on the
00:32:00
outside looking in and as one as as we all should expect disrespect in the drug dealing business and and these criminal
00:32:07
activities is not would not be taken lightly right so as Rumor Has It Go forth was not going to let what he had
00:32:15
worked so hard to earn be so easily taken away from him by this new Johnny come lately newcomer Shawn Jr so he let
00:32:25
some people know that he was interested in removing Shawn from the drug game and
00:32:31
if it meant that he would have to have Shawn Jr killed then so be it as reported To Us by many go forth ran
00:32:38
around town letting everyone know what he thought of Shawn Jr and what he wanted done to Shawn Jr now in typical
00:32:47
drug dealer SL drug addict fashion Shawn Jor wanted to make a lot of money and a
00:32:54
lot of money very quickly he had limited fun funds to do so so he had very limited funds for buying a large amount
00:33:01
of drugs that he could turn into even more money so that purchasing a large purchase would be impossible for Shawn
00:33:08
Jr it's rumored that he came up with the idea of stealing a large amount of drugs
00:33:14
so that he could sell them turning that into a lot of money well right well Stephanie showed him how it's done well
00:33:21
and Shan Shawn Jr I guess the rumor is that he decided to rob the only big time drug supplier that he knew this was the
00:33:30
man that he was recently introduced to bigan bigan yeah remember that Stephanie's drug supplier M so here is
00:33:37
what we we have uncovered and this is not definitive it's simply The Narrative as far as what we could dig up at the
00:33:45
local level here but this is to break it down basically the word on the streets okay so someone stole a large sorry you
00:33:54
just said that oh almost as white as possible go ahead I'm ready but but I think that's
00:34:01
the most clear way and simple way to explain the information we have here right what coming from the streets so
00:34:09
anyway someone stole a large brick of meth from biggan and the person who stole this large inv valuable brick
00:34:18
right was Shawn Jr now if this is true well then you don't need to be a drug kingpin to dream up the bad things that
00:34:26
could happen to joh Jr right because not only would this make him a problem for biggan but this is a bad situation for
00:34:34
Stephanie as well because this could only be perceived as her having made a bad judgment call for introducing Shawn
00:34:42
Jr to bigan yeah or it also doesn't Ru out the possibility that she's involved I mean we have this lady drug dealer um
00:34:51
that is stealing drugs and creating these false robberies so so is it possible that
00:34:58
biggan has this missing drugs and they go well we think that it's Shawn Jr but is Stephanie involved in this was just
00:35:08
the whole meeting in general you know concocted by Stephanie in the first place well the other issue too that we
00:35:14
have Captain is we we also have go forth who already is said to have it out for Shawn Jr but but now you know if I'm go
00:35:25
forth okay and I know about this bigin guy being stolen from or robbed right I could make a good name for myself as far
00:35:33
as Ban's concerned and Stephanie hell I I could impress biggan enough maybe I could even replace Stephanie and we
00:35:42
can't say for certain that sha Jr is responsible for stealing this brick of meth but what we can say for certain is
00:35:49
there's a lot of people believe that he's responsible for it yeah and I don't even know how this whole stealing or
00:35:57
robbery thing would have went down um but we did talk to at least one person that said that quote Shawn seemed to be
00:36:06
like a kid in a candy store as he broke up the brick of meth into a large plastic bowl and he was running his
00:36:13
fingers through it well he's a drug addict yeah but more importantly for Shawn in this situation he's a dealer
00:36:21
and what this means no no no no no see that's where people get wrong yes he he's stealing or hypothetically we think
00:36:30
he's stealing this these drugs for money right but the the drug the drug addict always trumps the drug dealer okay I see
00:36:39
what you're saying but the reason why he seemed to be so happy according to this
00:36:44
person was he was thinking about the amount of money he was going to make off of off of acquiring this brick mhm so
00:36:52
now let's get to Eric Brown Eric was the one that was traveling with Shawn just before Shawn went missing and Shawn Jr
00:36:59
met Eric Brown through Stephanie Eric according to several sources is a dealer from North Carolina who comes to Calhoun
00:37:08
to meet his drug contacts and pick up drugs to sell on the way back to North Carolina the easiest way to break this
00:37:17
down for you why this Eric individual would do this is that the meth is so regular readily available in calhon that
00:37:26
he can purchase it for much cheaper than what he's going to sell it to in these other spots because like everything it's
00:37:33
supply and demand these other locations where he's moving these drugs to the the
00:37:40
supply doesn't equal the demand so he can make a bunch of money doing this making this traveling to Calhoun picking
00:37:46
up these drugs selling them on the way back to his home or even selling them in his hometown so during one of Eric's
00:37:54
visits to Calhoun actually to to be perfectly clear Captain this would be like an extended stay and this would be
00:38:01
the last visit that Eric would make to Calhoun before Shawn Jr would go missing but during this Extended Stay Eric and
00:38:10
Shawn they spent their time trying to make money and this of course mostly involving them attempting to
00:38:15
successfully exchange drugs for money and money for drugs after one of these afternoons I guess Eric called Shawn and
00:38:24
asked him to look in his rented 2015 gray Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck this was for
00:38:34
$1,000 this is money that they had made that Eric thought that he had left inside Shawn's vehicle Shawn said that
00:38:42
he checked the vehicle and then later informed Eric that there was no money left in the car now Eric is as we said
00:38:50
rumored not only to be a dealer but he's also a drug addict right and um you know
00:38:54
he call called this being paranoid or whatever but Eric seems to think that Shawn was lying to him and that Shawn
00:39:01
just ended up keeping the $1,000 for himself well this is all also what happens when you hang out with Shady
00:39:08
people if you hang out with people that sell drugs or steal drugs or steal money
00:39:13
you know you get involved in illegal activity this is the kind of stuff happens you know well and there's no
00:39:19
real friends in this situation you know I mean all these people that they're they're Associates because they can make
00:39:25
money or trade drug together but at the end of the day none of them are friends well the funny thing about it is um the
00:39:33
original pilot for the friend's uh TV show was about drug addicts and drug dealers well I don't know if you knew
00:39:40
that the rumor the rumor here though Captain is going to be that Eric has told some people that he considered
00:39:47
Shawn to be a thief that Shawn stole the, from him right and there's no honor among Thieves right so this has led some
00:39:55
to believe that Eric has something to do with Shawn Jr later having gone missing
00:40:01
because Eric has been quoted as saying Shawn stole from me he took money I'm sorry he took food out of my kid's mouth
00:40:09
right now also let he lets his cousin Derek know okay so Eric tells his cousin Derek that he was going to kill Shawn
00:40:22
for stealing from him okay so I'm just trying to keep this clear right so so Sean Jr goes with Eric a couple
00:40:33
times on these drug dealing trips mhm uh we have what's the one guy's name that once to kill Shawn Jr well Eric well
00:40:46
Eric but the other guy go forth go forth so we got two guys and then we have a Poss we have these rumors circling that
00:40:55
Sha is a thief Shan Jr is a thief and he stole from bigan right and now biggin's
00:41:01
out to get him but also connecting it back to Stephanie Stephanie and see Stephanie's kind of the nucleus here if
00:41:08
you're trying to figure this thing out Stephanie gets her drugs from bigan okay and she's the one that introduces Shawn
00:41:14
Jr to bigan and she introduces Eric to Shawn Jr right but when you say it like that and I'm not trying to throw you
00:41:22
under the bus I'm just saying when you say it like that it's like she is the one that introduced no no she stole a
00:41:28
bunch of money and conned these guys and then they caught her and that's when she
00:41:33
introduced them right you know right I still think that's cynical you know there uh there's uh something uh
00:41:41
diabolical with that plan of her introducing these guys to to bigan well for her it seems to me like she needs
00:41:50
people moving and selling these drugs for her and every time you know think of it like a pyramid scheme biggin's at the
00:41:58
top he's giving a bunch of drugs to Stephanie who's then filtering it out to these different Outlets to these other
00:42:04
smalltime drug dealers and then she steals it back from right in some situations stealing it back from them
00:42:10
but all the money Works its way up the uh pyramid scheme you know it it all helps out bigan and then Stephanie and
00:42:17
the trickle down effect to these low-level drug de well could you imagine if I if I set up a fake robbery right
00:42:24
and then I paid you I mean how much would I have to pay you to just punch me in the face um well
00:42:32
according to the stories that I've heard the Goring rate Stephanie setup was 20 bucks okay so I pay you 20 bucks you got
00:42:39
to come in here come into the garage when Bam's going to be here right we're going to be selling some drugs we're
00:42:46
going to Stage a robbery you're going to have a bunch of guys with you but you got to come in and punch me in the face
00:42:51
I'll give you extra 20 bucks to yeah yeah my my guess is the way that this goes down is either the the stage
00:43:00
robbery takes place at the time of the exchange or just shortly after punch me in the face and then in this situation
00:43:08
if if the other party uhhuh if I suspected that they kind of knew what was going on this is when she's saying
00:43:16
hey behind the scenes you know either right in front of them punch me assault me or behind the scenes at least I can
00:43:22
show up with an injury and I can go look same [ __ ] happened to me right you know
00:43:26
and and then she looks like she looks like a victim as well so I want I want to get into this vehicle situation a
00:43:33
little bit that the rented truck yes okay so a little more information on this rented truck Shawn Jr had received
00:43:42
some kind of settlement for a car accident that he was in and because of the accident Sea's car was in the shop
00:43:50
and he had rented this vehicle this is a 2015 gray Dodge Ram 1500 cool truck at the end of 2015 Eric asked Shawn Jr to
00:44:02
drive him home for Christmas this is so Eric could see his kids for the holidays
00:44:08
now Eric and Shawn well they're not going to make this trip for for no reason at all they
00:44:15
hatched a plan to acquire a bunch of drugs or buy a bunch of drugs in Calhoun and they're going to do in typical Eric
00:44:25
fashion they're going to make multiple stops on the way back to Clay County North Carolina selling the drugs all
00:44:31
along the way M now they could make more money as we stated they could make more
00:44:37
money in these other towns doing this now where are they getting the drugs from this I don't know and this is why I
00:44:43
want to be clear here stating that their plan was to acquire drugs or to purchase
00:44:47
drugs right I don't know if they purchased a large batch or if the large batch that they intended to sell was
00:44:54
that same batch that was stolen from B I'm a little unclear on the time of that of when that went down okay in
00:45:02
comparison to Shawn Jr going missing it sounds to me all of this stuff that we're discussing here now mind you we're
00:45:10
getting a lot of this information from drug addicts drug dealers people that know them uh so the dates are a little
00:45:17
skewed well yeah very trustworthy people they take a lot of notes but the thing is all of this seems to be going down in
00:45:26
a relatively quick amount of time meaning within within the course of month maybe two months right so this is
00:45:32
all Happ happening very rapidly so they're going to make this trip Eric and Shawn Jr and they're going to make you
00:45:40
know sell drugs along the way back to Clay County so on December 20th 2015 Shawn Jr picked up Eric he ended up
00:45:49
picking him up at Derek's house Eric's cousin's house right remember Derrick is the one later that would tell people
00:45:56
hey my cousin Eric said that he he was going to kill Shawn for stealing that thousand bucks right one thing I wonder
00:46:02
about that Captain is that's one of those situations where you wonder about Eric was was that just something said in
00:46:10
a fit of rage like in the Heat of the Moment like I'm going to kill this guy or was it really I don't think it would
00:46:16
say it like that but maybe but no you you know what I mean rather than sitting down and very calm and cool and
00:46:21
collectively saying look I'm going to this Shawn Jr I'm going to wait till the time is right I'm going to take him out
00:46:27
he took a th000 bucks for me it's it's much different you yeah yeah I think you know in passing where it's like oh well
00:46:34
yeah I think this guy stole th000 bucks from me oh really yeah I'm going to kill
00:46:40
that [ __ ] you know what I mean so the thing here is he picks up Shan Jr picks up Eric and they leave Calhoun and
00:46:48
they do sell drugs along the way back to Clay County now the final meeting to sell drugs was with a guy that we will
00:46:55
call called Jericho and as usual this is a lot to keep straight just to let you know no I know and trust me as usual a
00:47:03
drug dealer and a drug deal is never just plain and simple there's usually some some [ __ ] that gets in the way so
00:47:10
apparently Jericho didn't have enough money to buy the drugs from these two whatever amount was agreed upon in
00:47:18
advance he didn't have that oh I I love that you know hey you put something on Craig's List Right or Facebook B
00:47:26
Marketplace somebody shows up you say I'm selling a van right and they're they're offering tradesies they're
00:47:33
offering you a t-shirt well what they're going to do is the three of them would go around to local stops and sell drugs
00:47:42
to make up for some of the difference and when that failed to produce enough funds Jericho decided to barter a couple
00:47:50
of guns a couple handguns in exchange for the rest of the money that he still owed V mhm so after this deal was
00:47:58
completed Shawn Jr dropped off Eric at Eric's parents house and then he started his way back to Calhoun now Eric stands
00:48:07
by his story stating that the last time he had saw Shawn junor Shawn was driving
00:48:13
away in his rented truck all right so they go to make this drug deal we got sha Jr he's hanging out with Eric they
00:48:23
got a bunch of drugs we don't know how they got drugs but Eric is going to visit his family Sean's going to drop
00:48:30
him off but hey we got to make this lucrative right MH got to get lucrative on this trip and then they meet Jericho
00:48:39
right right now Jericho you know he's not wrestling in the WWE anymore so he doesn't have enough money to pay for the
00:48:47
drugs so he has to try to round up drugs he can't get enough money so then he decides hey I got these
00:48:52
guns barter with you drug deal is made it's done at this point we have two people in the rented truck we're back to
00:49:01
sha Jr and we're back to Eric Shan Jr takes Eric to his Eric's family's house and then Shawn Jr is going to head back
00:49:10
home correct and but he's never seen from again well well hang on there and we're
00:49:16
going to what we're going to do here is we're going to squash one big rumor from
00:49:20
Calhoun right away so in Calhoun there's always been this rumor of well Shawn Jr
00:49:26
went to Klay County North Carolina he was killed there and he was never seen again so we can go ahead and squash that
00:49:33
rumor because on his way back to Calhoun Shawn Jr was actually spotted on two different
00:49:41
surveillance cameras the first sighting was at a Walmart store this is where Shawn Jr he bought batteries for a
00:49:48
flashlight and he bought I have conflicting reports here that he bought a holster for one of the
00:49:54
guns or he bought two holsters for the two guns that he had Acquired and he bought batteries for a flashlight
00:50:01
correct okay or he bought batteries is assumed for a flashlight now um according to the reports according to
00:50:10
the police reports Shawn was alone in the store at the time there was nobody seen with him how far are these stores
00:50:17
away from where he dropped off Eric um that's that's a good question I didn't include that in my notes mhm um but he
00:50:27
would have been on the road for some time um it wasn't like he dropped off Eric and then drove around the block and
00:50:34
pulled into Walmart right so it could be a half an hour to an hour or so yeah I think it was more like uh 45 minutes to
00:50:41
an hour to the Walmart so he could have he could have made it 30 some miles maybe more well and on top of that
00:50:47
though there was another the second sighting of him was at a gas station and this gas station was even further from
00:50:55
uh where Eric lived now I can say that this small gas station was located in Franklin North Carolina and the gas
00:51:03
station was named Car City there Shawn Jr purchased the can of Coke he paid for it with cash now not only did Shawn have
00:51:13
guns but according to the security footage at the gas station Shawn had a lot of money presumably from the drug
00:51:20
sales that he had just made right so apparently he had a l of money in his pocket that was so large that he was
00:51:27
like having trouble removing it from the pocket to pay for this you know single can of soda that he purchased at the gas
00:51:37
station you go in to buy a Coke I'm just a little thirsty I'm going to stop and get a Coke oh that would be
00:51:45
79 cents sir and you can't get your money out of your wallet well I actually think that the the purchase of the soda
00:51:53
was like a secondary reason for the Stop and we'll get into that in just a minute
00:51:58
now regarding the the W of cash it's actually believed that Shawn had about $1,700 cash on him at this time yeah and
00:52:07
coming from the world of banking I mean depending on what denomination you get that in I mean that can be you know
00:52:15
stack of you know stack of fives stack of tens you know I mean dude I used to bartend for a living I I I would have a
00:52:22
big WT of cash and my friends would be like man you're like I'm like yeah this is
00:52:27
$200 I'm hoping it lasts me the week this you know yeah this all fits in a a suitcase but uh but it's only
00:52:35
$25 yeah uh so now while Shawn was at the gas station he asked for directions and I actually believe this to be the
00:52:44
main reason for him stopping at this uh car car City gas station right because I
00:52:50
believe Shawn to have been lost and we know he was unfamiliar with this area and he's traveling by himself at this
00:52:56
point and he doesn't have a cell phone does he have a cell phone he does he does so he doesn't have GPS on the cell
00:53:02
phone um that I cannot answer that question I don't know if he has GPS or just does not know how to use it right
00:53:08
but for whatever reason he chooses to stop and ask for questions directions my my other guess though too is
00:53:17
um how you know what I mean if he's going to program his phone can does his phone work real well in this location
00:53:24
yeah it could be bad service or I mean or it could just be a cheap phone I mean again he's a drug addict and it sounds
00:53:32
like he if he's doing meth you know to to think that he'd have the new newest updated top-of-the-line
00:53:43
iPhone I I just don't see that happening well from the video at the gas station it was determined that Shawn Jr was
00:53:51
alone in his vehicle now this was on December 21st 2015 at approximately 6:55 p.m. now at this time of year we should
00:54:03
note that it's already dark at this time when he's traveling so just after Shawn
00:54:08
left the gas station he was on his phone this is how we know he he did have a cell phone with him right he was on his
00:54:16
phone with his who this is always difficult in these cases because we see these situations where people are
00:54:23
reported as girlfriends girlfriends Ex-Wives uh he was on the phone with Brandy King okay uh it's been reported
00:54:31
as both ex-wife or girlfriend whatever what we do know is according to his mailing address Shawn Jr was supposedly
00:54:41
living with Brandy at this time all right so there are a couple yeah well we know that he was traveling on 64 West
00:54:50
and this is while he was talking to Brandy King but he would eventually lose cell service now this is one hell of a
00:54:58
phone call because it sounds like Shawn and Brandy were arguing before he even left to go to North Carolina like she
00:55:06
knows what he does right she knows that that he's selling drugs that he uses drugs I think you know he's probably
00:55:12
telling her look I'm just selling them I don't use them uh I think he's also telling her things like look I just need
00:55:19
to make one big score and then I'm getting out right right right and I think he kept telling her hey let me go
00:55:25
do this North Carolina thing and I'm going to get out I'm going to make a bunch of money and then I'm going to get
00:55:31
out and I'll go get a real job and and straight myself out so they're already arguing before he leaves now now he's on
00:55:38
his way back which would make brandy happy however on this phone call he's telling her that he's lost and that he
00:55:45
doesn't know where he's going he he actually tells her he didn't even know what road he was on the road that he
00:55:51
tells her that he's on I don't even know if it was anywhere in the air area because he gives two different numbers I
00:55:57
think he listed something like I I could be on 441 or or or 415 you know he doesn't seem to even know what road he's
00:56:05
on now we do know that he was on 64 West we know this because we see him on the surveillance footage at the gas station
00:56:12
leaving heading on that road right so not even knowing what road he's on but before he drops the call the call drops
00:56:22
Shawn tells Brandy during this conversation to tell his kids he loved them in case something happened to him
00:56:28
now yeah Brandy asked him why he would say that and he responded that he thought he was being followed and then
00:56:36
seconds later he lost cell service so Shawn was on Highway 64 and lost service while talking to Brandy this was at
00:56:43
approximately 7:15 p.m. in the days after the 21st of December Shawn's mom Kathy had been trying to get a hold of

00:56:57

00:57:06
everybody that he knew text everybody that he knew she even checked with jails and hospitals to see if he was found
00:57:14
nothing no sign of Shawn but on December 26th 2015 Shawn was reported missing by
