00:01:59
looked like a Chrome plated semi-automatic nine millimeter handgun from his gun belt and started
00:02:04
threatening to kill him so we're going to assist them with an entry into the
00:02:10

00:04:25

00:05:09
at somebody all right we're going around with a little toy gun like you know these people wear here
00:05:22
well if you're changing your story Shane so it's great because where are we playing
00:05:29
with the gun like a couple of days ago like yesterday we were up here just pulling around like tonight
00:05:37

00:06:27
you know Shane what I'm talking to him Shane right now you're also being charged with
00:06:39
obstruction you understand that do you know what that means you're lying to the
00:06:43
police and you're leading us around in a little game here showing us where this
00:06:47
gun is that's not the gun you had tonight okay it's been there all night
00:06:50
okay that wasn't a little plastic gun I want to know where the gun is that you
00:06:56
are dealing with tonight well I don't got no other gun like were you down along stride Avenue
00:07:06
tonight it's dry down here yeah don't worry the other one's Sky Train we were moving all
00:07:12
day like all day I asked my sister moving where like we're moving to McPherson and then uh
00:07:18
yeah we want us to believe that this is the gun that you had I gotta do better than that you have to
00:07:24
do a whole lot better than that if you think that I'm gonna believe that this
00:07:27
is a the handgun that you were playing with today well I don't know why you can
00:07:31
call it we don't know what smile all you want do you think I'm gonna this is the gun that you said look
00:07:40
you think that this is the gun you think I'm gonna believe that this is the gun that was being
00:07:45
pointed at people you don't think they're gonna know this is a toy gun yeah we're gonna do a lot better than
00:07:50
that okay this is not the gun that we're talking about here and you know that
00:07:56
you're gonna have to come through a lot better than this to make any of us believe you
00:08:02
so you ready to try again well I was I was playing with that gun I asked the man here he's been here for a couple
00:08:08
hours and you did not show up with his door to return no gun now are you gonna tell us the truth
00:08:19
truth about what where the other one is one world I'm talking about not this gun
00:08:28
where is it Shane okay this isn't uh fun and games time anymore here okay well you can check all the stuff we've
00:08:38
moved everything like you never moved nothing I want to know where this handgun is
00:08:44
I want to get this handgun off the street so I want to know where it is okay it's not funny
00:08:51
it's not funny at all this is serious just show us where it is you know we've been good to you you know
00:09:01
we treat you fairly it's always true we just want it back for asking you where
00:09:06
it is show us where it is it's a hot pellet gun okay all right okay we're
00:09:09
fine but where is it though is it the house where is it in the car oh yeah I think it is outdoors okay
00:09:18
whereabouts at the house in my closet all right pretty sure which one is it the one to
00:09:25
the right the one to the left left okay that's better okay I don't care it's better if it's a pellet gun great
00:09:37
it's a pelican I don't want it's better it's better well that's what's gonna
00:09:41
happen and it's better that it's a pellet gun than a real gun right it's gonna get seen
00:09:47
I'm sure it'll get seized if you're carrying around your pants like a real
00:09:50
gun no I just feel you're gonna get hurt friends it's just a pellet gun the parties involved have been evicted
00:09:55
from this residence and as of midnight tonight they were no longer allowed to be in
00:10:00
that residence the weapon was never discovered in in the residence there's some indication
00:10:07
from one of the suspects that uh the the actual party involved left the residents
00:10:14
about 45 minutes ago he says that the weapon is actually a pellet gun however our Witnesses say it had a slight action
00:10:22
very similar to a semi-automatic a suspect name has been provided and Constable Macbeth and Constable limburn
00:10:29
are going to follow it up they're going to do a photo lineup and see if we can
00:10:32
identify this guy and uh charge him with threatening to Serve and Protect we'll
00:10:37
be right back this guy here is currently in a dispute with his common law over property and and settlements and so on
00:10:49
they have one daughter who's with the common law wife and she's not in the Lower Mainland
00:10:58
here right now is supposed to be getting visitation rights with tomorrow okay and they will arrive tomorrow by BC
00:11:10
ferry at about seven o'clock um last week last Sunday he had a visitation with
00:11:20
and he was supposed to turn over to a third person and that third person was supposed to
00:11:26
take to him for the visitation he chose to show up at the ferry terminal and have direct
00:11:34
contact with his common law at the ferry terminal which is against the recognizance which
00:11:41
he was released on on the 22nd again breached it later on in the day when the common law arrived to pick up again
00:11:52
and he again tried to talk to her it ended with the common law grabbing out of his
00:11:59
arms and running onto the ferry terminal to avoid any further contact as they were on the ferry on the way home
00:12:08
the common law looked into the the knapsack of the daughter and here was a letter from him
00:12:15
which again he's not supposed to have any direct or indirect contact so he's
00:12:19
breached breached his recognizance his 8-10 order three times and he's a restable on a 524
00:12:28
section 524 of the criminal code for breach of recognizance and that's what we're going to go after him for so he's
00:12:36
got potential for being violent when we've got him arrested and handcuffed we'll ask guard him to your car and put
00:12:42
him in it and you just zip them down to the office okay because it could be ugly and if you want to cover me at the
00:12:51
front and as you as well okay and that should we don't know that he has any weapons in
00:12:58
the house at all [Music] foreign I've received a complaint that you've reached your recognizance
00:13:41
okay the one that you're released on which is this the one that you released
00:13:46
on not to have any contact with I've had no contact with whatsoever that's not what I've heard anyway I'm
00:13:54
placing it under arrest for breach of recognizance okay I'm picking up my daughter tomorrow at
00:14:01
seven o'clock in the morning but you're not going to without getting released
00:14:06
from custody again I got a piece of paper yeah right okay you're under arrest for breach of recognizance okay
00:14:12
yeah okay let me finish this okay let me go through these rights okay let me go through these rates
00:14:21
you may call a lawyer any and you may call any lawyer you wish a legal aid Duty lawyer is available to provide the

00:14:51
she said to enter at the ferry last weekend what she said that you met her at the ferry last weekend and she showed
00:14:56
me a letter that she said you wrote to her yeah which is indirect communication you
00:15:04
can't do that I can't write a letter nope nope you can't write to her you can't phone her
00:15:09
you can't talk to her directly I didn't know that meant writing a letter no that's what it does so can you
00:15:17
guys why couldn't you just come up here and tell me not to write a letter to her
00:15:19
can't do that it's a it's you've got to comply with the regulations that they
00:15:23
set down for you come on man am I a criminal for writing a letter put your shoes on I
00:15:29
got no choice I know you do you're doing your job I realize that but I'm telling
00:15:33
you guys yeah this is unbelievable we affected the rest uh gave the fellow his legal rights
00:15:43
and uh he couldn't believe he was being arrested and we caught him off guard and
00:15:50
therefore it went right quite smoothly [Music] [Music] um no angle go for nine yeah ten four hi
00:16:43
it's okay how are you doing hey what's your name what's your name okay
00:17:01
it's okay you don't have to be scared for five minutes trying to get away from
00:17:06
us no I just went around the block well I know you were going around the block but you were going like you see you're
00:17:11
going around corners at warp speed right and my partner and I were trying to catch up with you okay we eventually got
00:17:18
a police car involved there and he ended up pulling you over all right I'm not uh
00:17:23
[Music] okay I I stopped and stuff essentially we're coming out of Lynn Valley uh mall
00:17:33
and uh we're coming back down 15th back just heading back towards the office my
00:17:38
partner and I I noticed a vehicle that was coming up alongside me was a red minivan which at this time of night in
00:17:45
North Vancouver is uh potential potentially good vehicle for stolen vehicle it had no no rear license plate
00:17:52
on it I pointed it out to my partner and the vehicle uh proceeded to speed away from us at high high rate of speed we
00:18:01
followed him as he continued to sort of zigzag in and around the Detachment area
00:18:06
which was fortunate for us because we were starting to lose our breath uh as my partner and I are on the bike section
00:18:12
fortunately we were close enough to the office at a couple of marked units assisted and proceeded to pull the
00:18:19
vehicle over so the the uh the driver had a paint smell Liquor on his breath and we did
00:18:26
give him an approved screening device a roadside test which he did which he did pass but uh something obviously made him
00:18:33
nervous enough that uh he decided he was going to try and get away from the police so the subsequent
00:18:39
to that we proceeded to give him two tickets both failing to stop for peace officers one of which was our Pursuit
00:18:47
and the secondary of which was he failed to stop for actually a mark unit right here where we stopped them that's
00:18:54
about it so we essentially released them and sent him on his way hey check him out
00:19:00
nice and soft that's for you you can have that okay that's a good boy one of the guys wanted some help he was
00:19:09
bleeding yeah how you doing I guess uh here I guess he took a tumbler in the face
00:19:19
okay now this guy threw a tumbler at me from right down the hall that's this
00:19:23
blend guy that means he's not here now this is four bloody hours and he's been
00:19:28
here remember I wanted to believe because I'm inside um behind everything he's done this was a
00:19:38
result of not a punch or a fight this was flying approximately all the way down the hallway I've hungry about that
00:19:45
size the gentleman lives in a 4-1 he drinks 66 ounces of vodka every day he's
00:19:50
done it for 24 years in the middle of the thing I didn't hold the fire alarm I was being
00:19:58
grabbed shoved after the Tumblr heavy I couldn't see I was blinded and I should do blood everywhere so I guess
00:20:09
he went down well this is all saying he pulled this he was standing right here I guess he said when he got hit okay
00:20:21
we'll have to tell the manager he's got to get a break bar in there yeah that's
00:20:25
fine okay we're here earlier this evening uh responding to a complaint by the
00:20:30
boyfriend who we just dealt with uh he called both ourselves and ambulance stating
00:20:37
that his girlfriend at odino and cocaine when we arrived she refused uh ambulance
00:20:43
treatment and accordingly we left and I guess he got into a dispute with his neighbor
00:20:49
stating that his neighbor was supplying cocaine to his girlfriend and I guess an altercation sued and
00:20:55
about to get popped so we'll go down and talk to the suspect right now Glenn
00:21:07
Blake can you come to the door please thank you hi Lynn how are you what have we come in
00:21:35
same guys yes big door hey what's up I had to beat him up yeah go ahead foreign

00:22:10
good God no way it can't be [Applause] okay okay you bet you buddy let's go
00:22:24
remember we're not putting cuffs on you here because they're nice guys I'll take advantage of that fact that
00:22:30
guy upstairs is this a certain protection I'd be a big guy upstairs because he's
00:22:40
beating his old lady up and I go to jail is that not something you guys probably see this every day
00:22:58
we get in the elevator yes okay you're gonna stand in the far back corner and
00:23:02
you're gonna face the corner okay you're not going to face towards the other
00:23:05
you're going to face into the corners and when we get to the bottom we're
00:23:07
gonna walk out to the police car and push him back seat okay all right there's anybody in the elevator we will
00:23:16
not get in okay carry on don't worry about you [Music] so what's going to happen here now I
00:23:37
guess I go down for assault for beating up a six foot six guy that's what we
00:23:42
told you speaking at this girlfriend I remains to be seen Mr right now we don't have a complaint of consult on the
00:23:49
female female scared to death she's terrified just hang on a second there you go okay
00:23:59
like I said in the corner face the corner [Music] you have nothing where I want me okay
00:24:09
just gonna make sure that I like to have my hamburger [Music] that's your ID in your world that's
00:24:19
insurance would you like to see it that's fun come on just wait right here Gary I'm being called out let's go okay
00:24:45
Gary help Donna um no you're not this morning backwards please the victim up in the upstairs apartment
00:25:01
uh he's going to be taking the uh Burnaby General where he uh we'll be getting uh some stitches underneath the
00:25:07
nose and possibly has a broken nose at this point and apparently the victim was attempting to throw out the uh the
00:25:15
suspect here and was threatening the suspect and pushing him out the door when suspect retaliated from the fight's on
00:25:23
that's a basically what happened here this appears to be a consensual fight we're at the scene of
00:25:32
a call where we were dispatched to a distraught man who was depressed and allegedly had poured gasoline around his
00:25:39
body he's currently locked in a an office area of a of a outbuilding behind his residence
00:25:45
his wife and another co-worker of his have been trying to negotiate with him for approximately two hours and they've
00:25:53
had no success they then called the police and had us respond I've had a Burnaby fire departments and the
00:26:00
emergency Health Services the ambulance attend the scene as a precautionary measure and we have now been negotiating
00:26:07
with him for approximately a half an hour these verbal negotiations are somewhat one-sided and we're not really
00:26:13
achieving much success with them so we're gonna have to probably come to some sort of
00:26:18
plan to expedite the negotiations and safely take this person into custody and get him off to the
00:26:26
hospital where he needs to be assessed by a physician well the matter now is has been
00:26:53
successfully uh concluded we have the mail in custody what we had planned was we had two uniform members initially go
00:27:02
in to the locked door after were successful in opening the door and we also had the Burnaby Fire Department
00:27:09
in attendance immediately behind our uniform members and they were standing by with a one and a half inch fire hose
00:27:17
upon entering the office our members confronted the there's a struck mail and
00:27:24
he was in the process of smoking a cigarette he had lit the cigarette the prudent choice to extinguish the
00:27:31
cigarette was was made and the method of choice of putting the cigarette out was
00:27:35
with the fire departments and that was to safely protect our members and of course the distraught male he is he's
00:27:41
been taken into custody now he's there was no struggle it was done very quietly
00:27:46
and he's now on route back to the hospital so he can be assessed and receive the proper treatment that it
00:27:52
requires to Serve and Protect we'll be right back we're out beside the Dell hotel and we
00:27:59

00:34:28
a hit and run in Vancouver where a truck hit two cars kept on going somebody is following it on a cellular phone and
00:34:36
giving directions and we're going to try to intercept the the truck as long as we can keep
00:34:42
this person on the cellular they should be able to get them they were in the center lane of King's
00:34:47
Way it looked like a rear Ender you know people got out of their car I didn't see
00:34:51
the actual accident happen but I went right around them I recognized the vehicle because it's the back tail light
00:34:56
on the driver's side is suspended and so I drove by because I didn't see anything
00:35:00
I don't mind being a witness if I saw anything but I didn't see anything
00:35:03
and then coming along uh later on to Kingsway by Kingsway and Joyce he was right behind me like right behind me so
00:35:10
I actually let him buy and uh then I saw him when he passed me this it was a tail light hanging and he
00:35:18
was driving extremely fast so I could tell 9-1-1 I'm wondering if someone would report at a hit and run she didn't
00:35:24
really know and then when he turned the corner from Kingsway to go Southbound on
00:35:27
Boundary he nicked a parked car I saw that so it was two Park curries hit I I saw the one for sure because the car
00:35:34
jolted okay came along boundary was doing a speed limit I think by that time he might have known I was following him
00:35:40
um turn down Rumble and what he would do he would stop and uh just stop like where that car is parked this was the
00:35:49
light wait till the light changed laid Amber even red and then run the light and I would stay behind I'm a little
00:35:53
light green and he would get caught behind traffic and I get caught up to him again he stopped right there and I
00:35:59
know he stopped so I stopped up the street in the middle of the street just half a block up and uh and
00:36:06
uh he got out of his car and he go I heard him said something like what the [ __ ] do you want buddy he's standing in
00:36:11
the middle of the street then he started running towards my car I just turned the
00:36:15
car around went down Royal Oak went up Clinton and I just parked 100 person and just waited for you guys I didn't know
00:36:21
if he was still there or not okay at one point we were driving along Kingsway we
00:36:25
went 50 60 maybe 65 speed of traffic he was so close that I couldn't even see I
00:36:30
mean I could just see the headlights I thought he was parked in my car so I actually pulled into uh under the curb
00:36:36
Lane and led him by because I just thought he was an awful rush so I let him buy okay and when I went in behind
00:36:42
him I noticed his tail light was dangling and that was the car involved in the rear end or the rear Ender how
00:36:47
many people did you see in the truck just just him just him when I went by them on Kingsway he was actually out of
00:36:52
his truck it was actually stopped there was a white Pinto or a white Chevette okay and that's the vehicle he hit I
00:36:58
think so again I didn't see anything they were both stopped so he stopped and
00:37:01
he got out yeah that's what it looked like they were both there was no one in
00:37:04
no one in at that time okay was there anybody else out on the street from the pinto there was another car behind him
00:37:09
don't know what the car was like that it also stopped and we were just going
00:37:13
around them and then the second vehicle he hit um when I I was on the phone with 9-1-1
00:37:19
yep and uh he uh was coming along boundary he was going eastbound into Burnaby looks like
00:37:27
he's gonna go straight along King's Way at the very last minute he turned uh
00:37:31
sausage potato made a right turn the right hand on the boundary onto Boundary and there's a car parked there or it's
00:37:37
like a minivan or a caravan I think that was parked there and I saw that jolt so
00:37:42
I knew he'd hit it traffic is just wishing that if you could call Vancouver in CD to let them know if they get a
00:37:48
report of a hit and run around Kingsway in Victoria and Kingsway and Boundary that we have a possible suspect vehicle
00:37:56
and suspect in custody foreign believe the vehicle that he would have struck around King's Way in Victoria was
00:38:05
a small white vehicle possibly a pinto and then Kingsway and Boundary was a parked vehicle possibly a minivan
00:38:14
[Music] he noticed the tail light hanging off the back of the truck okay okay so he keeps on going he
00:38:21
doesn't stop with the accident doesn't look that serious just a little bit down
00:38:25
the road all of a sudden this guy passes him and he's like geez that's unusual
00:38:28
that he was able to clear an accident that soon so then he called 9-1-1 to see if any hit and run had been reported and
00:38:34
the operator didn't know at that time so he kept following the truck he makes a
00:38:39
right turn at Kingsway and Boundary and he hit a car there and he witnessed that one okay okay
00:38:45
yeah but on the Vancouver side and it was a it was a minivan and it was stationary and then he so he kept on
00:38:53
following him once this guy realized he was being followed what he'd do he's
00:38:56
just this gentleman says he would stop when he was approaching a green light he would stop and that as soon as the light
00:39:02
would change to an Amber he Boot and he'd blow the Amber the red trying to get rid of him and then finally he
00:39:08
pulled over here and he got out he said buddy what are you doing follow me yeah he was only one driver he said only
00:39:15
one person yeah he fixed his tail lights put it back on he's made it set up where
00:39:20
it's supposed to be so I think I'm going to take them in for impaired I've got this guy's coming to
00:39:26
drive or no and that will give at least Vancouver a chance to go to these two accidents and yeah connect with us
00:39:33
through the help of the citizen another one solved we have several cut up car parts that have been thrown off the
00:39:40
bridge here into the serpentine River and this people throw it into the river to avoid prosecution
00:39:49
so we're called in with the dive team to recover those parts and any other stolen
00:39:53
property that may have been thrown into the river we've sounded the river across here
00:39:59
using a rope and a weight and the depth where we're going to be diving on this
00:40:05
side is five to six feet and the visibility from our experience in this River ranges from a foot to two
00:40:14
to three inches and the original call came in when local fishermen contacted Environment Canada
00:40:23
and were complaining about a small oil slick forming from some of the engine parts that they've dropped into the
00:40:29
river what we can do is start with this area here we'll continue further out and see
00:40:38
what we come across as you identify individual pieces what we'll do is we've
00:40:43
got a wrecker up here that's on site we'll do the hookup and we'll drag this stuff right out of
00:40:49
the water and bring it up straight up out of the water and onto the back of the bridge
00:41:04
foreign [Music] okay it looks like uh we've got something here he's giving me uh he's giving me two
00:41:32
pulls on his rope which means he wants uh he wants me to let out a little line what do you got a
00:41:44
motorcycle engine okay just a little too heavy for me all right have you uh can you chain it up can you
00:41:52
chain it up Bruce what's that can you chain it up yes all right the motorcycle engine has probably been
00:41:58
sitting on the bottom for some time now and it's relatively stable the diver's
00:42:02
down there and he's moving the engine around which is creating this oil slick
00:42:06
that you see on the top of the water the simple movement of the engine alone would cause some of the oil to to
00:42:13
probably escape from the crank okay are you hooked okay we now have uh it hooked and we're
00:42:30
gonna simply bring it up over the edge but uh he's got the bicycle and uh transmission housing it's uh you can
00:42:38
obviously tell the type of visibility that he's got down there he thought he
00:42:41
had a motorcycle engine and as it turns out it's a it's a transmission housing
00:42:45
from a vehicle this area is pretty secluded at night there's only a few houses in the area it
00:42:52
makes it a tremendous Dumping Ground for people to come in and dump stolen vehicles and bicycles and motorcycle
00:42:59
parts car frame if this diver out here for some reason gets caught or Tangled as you can see
00:43:16
that there's a lot of room for entanglement out there this Fella's job is to go in and save
00:43:22
them we try and keep him dry and comfortable because he is basically the lifeline for
00:43:29
this uh for this other diver out here [Music] foreign [Music] looks like a gun case
00:44:10
I don't know yeah look at that all right good good recovery we got uh we've got a gun
00:44:22
a gun in a gun case it could uh it could be stolen from a b e or it could have been used in an armed
00:44:31
robbery this fellas here from Coastline here are going to load up all the uh the
00:44:36
treasures that we've managed to recover from the river's bottom uh We've recovered two motorcycle frames
00:44:44
parts of a Toyota truck including the box and frame fenders we've got some motorcycle engines
00:44:54
accompanied by some Stolen Bikes and a lot of this stuff has already been identified as being stolen
00:45:01
so pretty much a worthwhile's day operation for us which included those two guns of course
00:45:09
that we got earlier on [Music] down we were moving all day like all day I asked my sister moving where like we're
00:45:23
moving to McPherson in uh we want us to believe that this is the gun that you had
00:45:30
I gotta do better than that you have to do a whole lot better than that if you think that I'm gonna believe that this
00:45:34
is a the handgun that you were playing with today if you think I have stairs because he's beating his old lady up
00:45:40
and I go to jail yeah I was trying to start his truck with a a loony banging on the window almost popped the
00:45:47
window and unfortunately the other side was uh was open he was in the process of
00:45:53
smoking a cigarette he had lit the cigarette The Prudent choice to extinguish the cigarette was was made
00:45:59
and the method of choice of putting the cigarette out was with the fire departments
