00:00:10
going three respond and assist units on the same you guys might be coming in and
00:00:14
we'll just do the door let me teach them how to shoot we teach them how to drive
00:00:28
that's like asking uh how many times you have sex today we just had a report of a
00:00:33
drive-by shooting just an open power and smell of marijuana [Music] this program contains actual police
00:00:57
footage no reporters no Recreations we have here is a vehicle that is stolen parked and what we're doing is setting
00:01:08
up on it waiting for the vehicle to move and we'll we will stop the vehicle at that
00:01:14
point in time he hit the brake lights again in the truck Joe get ready so I'll tell you when it's rolling a bit
00:01:46
it's just easy on the brakes not moving stand by backup weights backup light standby don't move yet
00:02:06
okay go go [Music] [Music] put your hands up don't even think about moving yeah
00:02:47
who's coughing anybody here under arrest yet Vehicles got to be printed oh did I get shot
00:03:08
[Music] Charter Warren done right now okay [Music] did a random sweep of the parking lot
00:03:29
querying all the license plates and he came across this pickup truck that was uh
00:03:36
looking at gunpoint from the owner after the suspect that committed a bank robbery at the Toronto Dominion Bank at
00:03:43
Hastings and Rosser so uh we were on another project and he uh notified us of this vehicle was
00:03:52
present to this lot so we have been decided on the priority to uh switch to full and focus on this vehicle and we've
00:03:59
been here about an hour and a half waiting for somebody to come back to the truck and as you can see a one male
00:04:04
subject did come to the pickup truck and successfully effectively apprehended him
00:04:11
without injury or damage other than to the windshield here so this matter will be turned over to our robbery detectives
00:04:18
for follow-up and basically there are two offenses a farm robbery the bank and uh
00:04:25
a stolen truck and the members have recovered imitation nine mil replica weapon on his person when they took him
00:04:33
out of the truck one of our local bars is just starting to let out so we're just going to show a presence in case
00:04:38
there's a problem later it seems that the bar is uh pretty full and a lot of
00:04:43
times as the bar clears there's altercations and fights erupt so we're just gonna stand out here show a
00:04:49
presence see what happens hang on thank you back back [Music] [Applause] albums get lost
00:05:56
you're funny [Applause] as you can see the guy is throw punch [Applause] unbelievable let's pick you up in like
00:06:11
half an hour how's it going man it's inside the delts they were drinking
00:06:20
and got into an argument the egg went spilled onto the street we've had two males that uh got involved in a fist
00:06:26
fight so both are gonna be rested right now for causing disturbance in the public place and the others maybe uh
00:06:32
there might be more arrests yet distracted are you going to jail [Music] yeah you've been hit pretty hard why'd
00:06:48
you do that in front of a bunch of cops I don't know man why I'm thinking about
00:06:52
it right now I thought it was safe or something there's three cops here and you take a shot at somebody
00:07:00
you threw the first shot okay if you want to leave an assault charge you'll be charged all right for now you're
00:07:06
under arrest for being drunk all right yeah that's the eye what's up okay well you may have to stop at a at
00:07:17
the hospital get some stitches for you all right we'll be going in a few every
00:07:21
moment foreign days ago he got the kids to do a beanie with them he frequently carries a
00:07:37
handgun with them and when he wanted to do this being either just ride around he
00:07:41
pulls out the gun intimidates him with it and says we're going to do a beanie
00:07:45
in such a business um he got the details as to where the Beanie was they told him what was stolen
00:07:49
we've since confirmed that through the file at the office um he wanted to do another beanie
00:07:56
tonight these kids want nothing to do with it and uh so they've made arrangements where he's going to be
00:08:01
attending the location here in Richmond by the 7-Eleven store number three in Steve Houston and he's supposed to be
00:08:07
there at midnight and he thinks he's going to be meeting them there we're
00:08:10
going to take him down at that point before he has the opportunity to get with them one of the kids was saying
00:08:14
that every time he's seen them he's uh or uh every time that this kid has seen
00:08:19
the bad guy he's had the gun on him keeps in his waistband here it's a 38
00:08:23
revolver fairly small one and that's pretty much it he has a fairly extensive
00:08:27
criminal record including two convictions for robbery the first one was in 91 he did with a handgun at a
00:08:34
store the second one he used a bottle so you'll see us some disposition using
00:08:39
them there's a bus stop near his house I'll um sit on that just on Houston by
00:08:44
uh gate if you guys know where that is up there not too much but traffic at this hour so
00:08:49
hopefully we'll be able to spot him leaving and we'll get some cars set up
00:08:52
maybe uh Colin will be on foot at the pay phone right at the 7-Eleven um e4c will probably buy the fire hall
00:09:00
and uh I'll be on foot with uh Melanie once I spot him she'll pick me up and
00:09:06
we'll go by the townhouse there just to the north there and then once we wanted
00:09:11
to take it down when there's not too many people around in case anything happens uh I guess we'll decide how
00:09:16
we're gonna take him down now if you guys can be close but obviously out of sight for the dog uh just so you're
00:09:22
there for a really quick response in case he gets away on foot maybe right behind the fire hall you'll be out of
00:09:28
sight and hopefully we'll hear the dog barking if he is if he has an occasion
00:09:31
to bark it's far enough away and the ambulance we've got to stand by just in
00:09:36
case anything goes wrong yeah don't anticipate anything will but uh quicker the better if anything does happen
00:09:41
it's about five blocks almost to a second [Music] we're here yeah we were here yeah he
00:10:03
lives at a place he's gonna walk up so she's gonna go down and Walk This Way
00:10:11
and that's where we were before right here so right now technically we're on this
00:10:16
side of a second yeah yeah so South West so he's not gonna walk in front of us
00:10:25
here on uh by the fire hall racing car what do you guys probably okay right now we have
00:10:38
Constable Robin's waiting at the 7-Eleven he just went behind the 7-Eleven War
00:10:46
I drew it all waiting for the suspect and Corporal cook is also waiting on the street at the bus stop we can see him
00:10:55
right now from here from Quick radio go 10-4 okay I'm out here at the uh stop as soon
00:11:08
as Corporal Cooks see the suspect walking from his place to here he's gonna let us know when he's gonna follow
00:11:14
him and so we'll know in advance that is coming to the 7-Eleven this is one of our members on the phone and uh
00:11:23
at the Payphone just waiting for the suspect suspect to arrive just waiting casually
00:11:35
right now I suspect we saw him and um the witness also saw him and the suspect is not walking back
00:11:45
toward the 7-Eleven and we now see our two officer waiting for him one's going to go inside the 7-Eleven
00:11:55
the other one's going to say stay outside by the phone okay for everybody the suspect is now in
00:12:12
front of the 7-Eleven by the bus stop is all dressed in blue black panther ball cap and he's carrying a bag
00:12:32
they got him down got it okay all right okay yeah okay Paul can you listen to me yeah okay
00:13:35
right now you're on the rest for b and e and threat right yeah threatening somebody okay
00:13:43
okay it is majority to inform you that you have the right to retain an instructor without delay you may call
00:13:49

00:14:01

00:14:06
do you want to call a lawyer yes so I'm going to explain to me what's off
00:14:12
what this is all about and where the threat and where they're being for threatening two kids well three with a
00:14:18
gun to do be any and the beanie that you did at the BC rental in Surrey we just arrested this aspect that we're
00:14:29
waiting for everything went well no no gun were pulled out and we're now going to drive him back to
00:14:36
the uh to serve Detachment where it's going to be booked for the night until
00:14:41
he can appear in front of a judge tomorrow morning we're gonna get statements from
00:14:46
power to witness or to victim in this I guess so nobody got hurt everybody's fine so
00:14:54
that's the way we like it foreign [Music] broke my phone now what does the assault
00:15:14
I mean like how do you hit you oh he just threw him against the wall he broke down my doors threw me against the wall
00:15:20
threw me down hit me in the head and this wrote it and I need him in the balls and then he had me down he had my
00:15:25
throat and he had me down on the bed like this and then it was only like need him okay we'll be getting a statement
00:15:31
off you to that okay I think the Air Force I just want him out of my house you know
00:15:37
what the best thing maybe why don't you just go over to this Constable's car and
00:15:41
sit in the back till we have this deal dealt with okay yeah can young lady go sit in the back of your car okay
00:15:47
stand right here I promise I won't go in no no but when he comes out if we can't
00:15:52
come out here there may be verbal art and we don't want that I'm not going to
00:15:55
say a word okay what's his name go to jail Mr so police here can I speak to you here
00:16:36
she's telling you guys that I said I was gonna kill him I never said any of that
00:16:40
just come here to get my stuff and leave she's starting to get bikers I have to
00:16:46
she works in the marble Oaks she works where the marble loads strip joint okay she's threatening to be getting them to
00:16:53
kill me okay what what happened here tonight let's hear what happened at the gym originally it started Sunday
00:17:01
night she was working and tomorrow's called me up we've been fighting ever
00:17:04
since we moved out here from Ontario six months ago and I said I'm moving out at
00:17:08
the end of the month leaving it she goes all right so she never came home that night so when I left in the morning we
00:17:13
got a dog stereo and locked the door I think she didn't have a key but I thought she'd call me at work come get
00:17:18
it she kept the door in called me at work said she called you guys and told me that I'm not coming back in
00:17:25
the house and that she's got all my stuff and she called you guys and if I come I'll be arrested and she'll tell
00:17:31
them that some makeup stories and say that I threat to kill her and then I assaulted her and so on and so on right
00:17:37
with you and her yeah she just booted me in the nuts she's been hitting me with a
00:17:41
a broomstick where threatening to pick up a sledgehammer where's the other room
00:17:46
and not she booted me in the nuts and where else she scratched my eye kicked me man let me see if I can have a look
00:17:53
okay she's got a fresh injury over here too I know it yep she's been whacking me
00:17:59
with a phone she was swinging around she's like damn at me as soon as I went
00:18:03
to pick up my end tables to leave I had to break the table because she was swinging the phone as I kick the table
00:18:09
to stop she wouldn't stop so I broke the glass table and I kept your chairs because I had the anger she wouldn't
00:18:16
stop I don't know what else to tell you man she's a loose can and she's crazy she's
00:18:23
absolutely crazy called her mother up getting her mother to side with her and say that Mom you're gonna tell the cops
00:18:30
that he hit me aren't you and meanwhile she's turning around she's saying my mom
00:18:35
we're gonna hit him with a sledgehammer I'm gonna kill him I'm gonna kill him
00:18:37
he's telling their own mother if we go outside I don't want any verbal confrontations with her okay because
00:18:45
it's just gonna spark again okay nothing nothing at all we've got a deal we're
00:18:50
not a collection agency okay so we're we're not coming here just well we're
00:18:54
not here coming here to uh divide property okay if there was a criminal offense here well I didn't know about it
00:19:00
and find out what happened he assaulted me well she's claiming you assaulted her
00:19:04
I told you that yeah 9-1-1 before I came here and I said I came here five minutes before I found
00:19:10
9-1-1 I went to the store and she wouldn't let me in she said I'll tell them that you you threatened to kill me
00:19:16
if you come in here did you so I went in 491 did you hit him I said you better send the police up
00:19:22
there she's already threatening to tell the cops that I want to kill her and
00:19:25
everything I just want to get in there I paid the rent I want to get my things and leave I know there's going to be an
00:19:30
altercation because she's gonna Michael go off did you hit her at all not once
00:19:34
never touched outside he obviously has injuries let me see if she has any anything yeah
00:19:43
and if he has injuries she has none she's going how do I show you that I'm bruised nuts
00:19:52
like come on okay listen listen I can see your face is uh is scratched up here so it's obviously
00:20:02
uh she was whipping the phone around I can feel my iron already the trouble is here the trouble is we're getting
00:20:12
two different stories young lady called in saying that her boyfriend uh had trashed the house and assaulted her
00:20:19
upon attendance we followed her in the front front yard with some personal property
00:20:25
we put her in a police car in order just to protect her and get her out of the scene and as we did our crime scene
00:20:30
investigation we found uh the boyfriend inside the house all the evidence inside the house
00:20:36
plus the injuries to him indicated to us that uh that the female had actually salted the
00:20:43
male rather than the other way around the the female had no marks cuts abrasions
00:20:50
lacerations of bruising at all whereas the male was had swelling bruising and scratches in the
00:20:56
head and shoulders area as a result of that and the Attorney General's Zero Tolerance on domestic
00:21:02
violence she was arrested taken to Burnaby cells to be processed through the courts in the morning
00:21:07
[Music] foreign good what are you doing out the sidewalk I'll come out and talk to you

00:22:25

00:22:38
[Applause] info 17. I have a no-go from Camp two in for in the US that's all I thought okay can you
00:22:51

00:23:01

00:23:14
um just do a new asset to it okay well we'll see you then really quick I'm not doubting your word but uh
00:23:24
yeah that's true you're being uh Cooperative with me I appreciate that way time
00:23:32
unfortunately you got to keep moving because if I spin around in the next 30 minutes or an hour
00:23:43
but if I come around again and you're still here in the area Sierra [Music] prostitution
00:24:00
and I I what I was going to say if I come back again around this way and you're still
00:24:09
here I've got to a rescue I'm giving you a warning right now okay prostitution
00:24:18
my lawyer would have me out in the morning anyways any no goes for Miss all right
00:24:32
native to as usual they must have erased those no no they've been canceled my lawyer got the mall Council so
00:24:43
conditions are to keep the peace and be of good behavior and I always am perfect anyways just
00:24:49
keep moving all right just remember what I told you though all right Kelly this is a real problem area for uh
00:24:57
prostitutes in in Burnaby and what we like to do is to check the girls and run their names make sure that they've got
00:25:05
no warrants out for them or any no-go's for that area if the checks prove to be
00:25:11
negative we like to disperse the girls have them clear the area move on their way and that's about it but we're never
00:25:20
truly going to get them off the streets it's an old profession and it's always
00:25:24
going to be there but we do like to to clear them off the streets the damage is pretty soft to the uh
00:25:30
4x4 there so I guess uh they just caught the rear quarter panel that knocked it and then it just flipped
00:25:37
they're transporting but I know it's a reminder I would think okay I don't know
00:25:42
I haven't checked for this except looking at the damage yeah okay we're on
00:25:47
scene in a two vehicle accident at Nelson and Green Street in Burnaby two vehicles collided uh basically in a
00:25:56
T-bone fashion uh the Me-n-Ed's Pizza car the yellow Mustang was traveling Westbound and the green Ford Explorer
00:26:05
was coming up Nelson Avenue southbound and they collided in the intersection don't know
00:26:13
as of yet obviously one of the vehicles uh disobeyed the traffic light one of them blew a red light we're not sure as
00:26:20
of yet uh we're going to find out through a witness hopefully that we have to telephone and they can shed some
00:26:28
light on exactly what color the light was or some discrepancy right now between Hulu the red light and who did
00:26:34
not injuries are relatively minor considering the damage to the vehicles but we're just going to continue with
00:26:42
our on-scene investigation here and hopefully we can determine exactly what happened because there is a bit of a
00:26:48
question as uh to who is at fault for the accent like luckily there's very minor injuries and
00:26:55
go from there and that ICBC sorted out a little bit later the driver of the pizza
00:27:01
car is relatively okay shaken up of course the lady that was in the Explorer that rolled on its top she was taken to
00:27:09
Burnaby General Hospital relatively minor injuries possibly a whiplash or shoulder type injuries with
00:27:16
the seat belt but considering that she rolled the car she's be fine we'll photograph the entire
00:27:23
scene do a rough sketch hopefully we can we can possibly determine some speeds and
00:27:31
just ensure that the light lights are all working okay to make sure everything is working properly and it isn't a
00:27:39
an electrical or a lighting problem and and we'll go from there there's really
00:27:44
not anything we can do other than that it's basically at this point going to come down to uh
00:27:51
who disobeyed the light so we'll just record things here in case this gets to
00:27:56
court down the road rather civil or Criminal [Music] hi there so please can you let us in
00:28:10
please nature of this call is a Asian female down in the hallway she's breathing very heavily
00:28:19

00:34:27
arrived she was seated in front of a apartment door saying she knew the people that lived there but there was no
00:34:34
answer at that apartment there's a strong order of alcohol coming off her so we arrested her for drunk in a public
00:34:41
place we're going to take her back to a Burnaby RCMP Detachment she'll be booked
00:34:45
in for the night and release when she's sober sometime tomorrow morning thank you
00:34:58

00:35:04
fire department this is one of our newer rigs it's only about a year old I've had
00:35:08
it since February it's got mostly ladders and equipment on it but this particular one is also equipped
00:35:17
with a full-size pump so it can pump water just as well as a pumper truck um in the front we have the the driver
00:35:27
and a lieutenant usually right in the front and uh it's equipped with a uh what we
00:35:33
call an MDT which is a portable console tells us where we're going and and gives
00:35:39
us other information for each call in the back seat uh we call it the jump seat this is where the the runner rides
00:35:47
this apparatus runs with an officer and two firefighters including the driver and back here there's
00:35:55
two self-contained breathing apparatuses built into the seat so that you can strap it on on the way to a call
00:36:03
as well there's our first aid kit and oxygen therapy unit and uh gloves and various other equipment that
00:36:14
we use on a regular basis [Music] as I said this has a full-size pump and it also has four hoses which we call
00:36:27
pre-connect lines they're connected right into the pump and this this particular apparatus has 150 gallons
00:36:35
of water on it in a booster tank and we can run any of those hoses directly from
00:36:42
the booster tank as soon as we arrive on scene so we can have water flowing within seconds really
00:36:49
and of course for continued operation we need to connect the the pump to a hydrant fire
00:36:57
hydrant some of the compartments we have this is a what's called a positive pressure fan
00:37:04
one of the duties of the ladder truck when it arrives on a fire scene is ventilation and we achieved this through
00:37:12
the positive pressure fan it's just a motor with a big fan blade attached to
00:37:16
it and we can set this up just outside the door of a building and create positive pressure inside by
00:37:24
opening various windows and doors on the other side or near the top of the building we can
00:37:30
flow the smoke out of it and clear the atmosphere inside the building that improves visibility and also reduces any
00:37:38
chance of things like Backdraft or flashover makes it a better place to work inside
00:37:48
this compartment has various appliances for operating the hose now we have a hose clamp here which
00:37:56
is used to control or shut off the flow of water in a line when a hose lines charge it has typically 100 PSI in it so
00:38:04
to shut it off other than with the nozzle you need quite a hefty clamp various fittings and adapters for
00:38:12
attaching different size hoses attaching the two male ends together a double female extra nozzles down here if
00:38:21
we need to run extra lines off we just attach one of these nozzles to the hose and burn it out
00:38:33
one of the other things an aerial does besides having ladders is it carries lots of extra equipment so uh
00:38:38
here we have the bolt cutters squeegee mops for clearing out water pry bar and various other tools and accessories that
00:38:49
we may need and here we have our chainsaw that's used for ventilation again which is one
00:38:58
of the things that the ladder does for cutting holes and roofs or gaining access through doors or walls
00:39:05
this is what's called a ladder roller it's being phased out mostly it's used
00:39:10
on the the edge of a building when we Haul up a ladder by a rope onto the roof these rollers allow it to roll smoothly
00:39:19
over the edge rather than scrape across the the edge of the roof [Applause] this compartment has the the water and
00:39:32
gas keys to shut off the water supply to buildings and also gas supply through the underground valves that the
00:39:41
city installs this is a hose roller similar to the ladder roller but it's used for hose when hose runs over the
00:39:51
the edge of a roof yeah and this compartment is the what we call the water vac it's a backpack
00:40:01
water vacuum and we can use that to pick up water after a fire works just like an ordinary vacuum
00:40:11
cleaner except you wear it on your back foreign ER compartment is where we have all the
00:40:21
ladders we have the 50-foot pulled extension which is the the biggest slider that we carry
00:40:31
they also carry a wall ladder a roof ladder which is equipped for hooks which we use when we're working on pitched
00:40:38
roofs we hook the tips over the over the peak and that reduces the slipping Hazard this is what we call the inside
00:40:46
extension it's a very small extension ladder which we can use to gain access
00:40:50
to attics or crawl spaces in inside buildings this is the main extension ladder that we
00:40:58
would normally use it's 35 foot extension and that's the ladder that would use
00:41:04
typically at most house fires this tray here contains Salvage equipment brooms shovels mops which we use for cleaning
00:41:14
up after a fire one of the tasks we use um as I said this uh this apparatus is equipped with a full-size pump and so we
00:41:25
also carry a full Consignment of hose to go with it this is the five inch supply line
00:41:33
this is the line that we connect into the hydrant at a fire to supply the pump with water
00:41:39
and that attaches to the to the large Port that we have on our hydrants in the city of Vancouver
00:41:50
this is a 65 millimeter line or two and a half inch line This is the the large size line that we use to
00:41:57
attack fires usually on the outside it's a high volume line we can also use this as a
00:42:04
supply line for smaller fires to lay line from a hydrant into the pump this compartment we carry ropes and
00:42:17
Salvage equipment we have the poly sheets just big plastic sheets which we can use
00:42:23
to protect furniture and and personal belongings when we're working on a fire if they're
00:42:29
not directly involved with a fire we can cover them up and prevent water damage and and dirt from getting on them
00:42:36
spare utility lines we use for hauling tools and equipment and securing ladders various other things
00:42:44
we also carry on the ladders we carry a lifeline and this is a static current mantle rope
00:42:52
and we use that for Life Safety applications with the life harness for rescuing victims from from buildings
00:43:03
this compartment carries our portable fire extinguishers we have a 14 kilogram dry chemical extinguisher a two kilogram
00:43:11
CO2 this is a two and a half gallon air pressurized water and this is a seven kilogram CO2 extinguisher and we can use
00:43:19
these for small fires such as grease fires pots on stoves things where it would be inappropriate to bring in a
00:43:27
water hose to uh to extinguish the fire this compartment has the uh the flood lights and the junction boxes that we
00:43:39
use again with our our generator set which we can use to Supply Power inside a building when we're doing
00:43:48
overhaul work after the fire is extinguished at night of course it's very dark and the electricity shut off
00:43:54
so we need to supply our own electricity with the generator we've got the three
00:43:58
power cords they go with the floodlights and we can take those right inside a building and
00:44:03
light up the area that we're working in for uh for safety reasons this this apparatus
00:44:11
also has the ability to uh plug into the generator we can run the generator right
00:44:19
on the rig here and it plugs in and we can work the floodlights here on the rig and also there's floodlights at
00:44:28
the tip of the ladder so that we can light up the out outside of a building when we're working on it
00:44:33
and that really helps at night so with the equipment we carry on the on the apparatus and the apparatus itself
00:44:46
we can usually handle most of the situations we encounter of course we never really know what we need until we
00:44:53
get to the call and see what we got but with the the training and equipment that
00:44:58
we have we can usually handle whichever situation we come across [Music] thank you
