00:00:10
code three respond and assist units on the scene oh you guys might be coming in and we'll just do the door
00:00:21
we teach them how to shoot we teach them how to drive that's like asking how many times you
00:00:31
have sex today we're just at a report of a drive-by shooting just an open power
00:00:36
and smell of marijuana [Applause] [Music] this program contains actual police footage no reporters no recreations
00:01:01
we're just walking up to the scene of a murder that occurred here a few hours
00:01:04
ago the indo-canadian games have been taking place here in the wall area of Surrey
00:01:09
and apparently there was a drive-by shooting in which three subjects were shot with an AK-47
00:01:15
uh rookie just came back he's got one of the victim got shot in the shoulder
00:01:20
and one of the guy that got shot in the foot also I did the shooters and he did it with his own van
00:01:27
how many people got shot four one more shot one in the foot one the leg one in the shoulder and one then
00:01:35
[Music] and that person's been here for about a month from India from India around 5 30 this evening our office
00:01:45
received a phone call about a shooting that had occurred here in the area of 128th Street and 104 Avenue apparently
00:01:51
what had happened that there was a group of indo-canadian males who were in the area as part of a family event that was
00:01:58
going on at Royal fontlin Park there was apparently number of soccer tournaments
00:02:01
happening over the weekend along with other festive activities one group of window Canadian males were standing on
00:02:07
the west side of 128th Street when a vehicle traveling south along 128th Street rolled by and a number of shots
00:02:14
were fired from that vehicle the scene is now being examined by both our forensic identification Specialists as
00:02:20
well as investigators from our serious crime unit to have been called in it takes a quite a long time in order to
00:02:28
get all the evidence from a scene such as this there were also a large number of people in attendance during the park
00:02:34
or at the park during the time and obviously we're trying to find out who in the crowd may have seen anything
00:02:41
that can give us some information at this point we don't have any motive as to what sparked the shooting that is
00:02:48
still part of the investigation of course our objective here is to identify the people who are responsible for it
00:02:54
and anytime you have a scene like this especially at a public event it's very
00:02:58
very difficult we have a large crowd here that we have had to to deal with within that crowd as I said we have a
00:03:05
number of witnesses and those Witnesses may or may not feel comfortable in coming forward and talking with us for
00:03:11
various reasons so one of our big hurdles is to try and break down some of the barriers that may exist and to have
00:03:17
them come in and speak to us about what they may have seen or been in a position
00:03:20
to see again it's very difficult for our members to come to this type of a scene
00:03:25
and to initiate an investigation that seems to be nothing more than a senseless and a
00:03:33
random killing at this point there's no need for this type of thing to occur I
00:03:37
spoke with some of the area residents who have lived here for in excess of 40 years and they're informing me that this
00:03:44
is the first time that anything of this Nature has ever happened the traditional
00:03:47
problems that they have on the weekend that this event as hell deals with crowds parking and of course drinking
00:03:54
but certainly they haven't had any problems of this magnitude in the past at least not to their knowledge so for
00:04:01
us it is a serious very serious scene to have to come into and and initiate an investigation at a public forum where
00:04:08
we've had a number of people in as part of the the family event and to to this
00:04:15
uh into a perspective that makes it understandable it's very difficult to try to Fathom why someone would open
00:04:22
fire on a group of people standing out beside the road when the shooting first occurred there was a large group of
00:04:27
people at the scene and obviously the noise and commotion Drew hundreds and hundreds more when the first police
00:04:35
officers arrived their first job is to get everyone back preserve the scene preserve the evidence as you can see
00:04:40
they roped off the area and then called United in serious crimes the members did what they could to
00:04:46
determine what's taking place by talking to a number of witnesses it sounds like
00:04:51
there were five or six shots fired possibly very random the uh the victim the deceased party was hit in the head
00:05:00
once I didn't was here they scarred the immediate area for exhibits or evidence
00:05:05
that might help out in the investigation and you can see those are marked off right now with the numbered cones or
00:05:11
pylons that are there once the entire scene has been examined the members will start seizing those
00:05:18
items and try and put together the case from there you can see here some of the exhibits I've been seized by Constable
00:05:24
Armstrong for a serious crime section she has five casings for bullets and one actual bullet that's been found so far
00:05:32
the five casings were found on the ground in the area of the body and the bullet was found in a tree
00:05:38
nearby obviously it's a lot more difficult find the bullets because they could go anywhere and travel a great
00:05:44
distance Witnesses have indicated they heard between four and six shots so uh what we found here is consistent with
00:05:51
the number of shots that were fired we may have found all the casings at this point the casings and bullet that have
00:05:57
been found are 7.62 millimeter that caliber is quite consistent with military style assault rifles purple
00:06:06
word is just searching the area with a metal detector right now he's a member
00:06:10
of our dive team and they frequently use the metal detector for the work in underwater recovery
00:06:18
and so he's just searching the scene now for any extra casings or bullets that
00:06:22
haven't been located yet looks like he's just found a another bullet there lodged
00:06:27
against the Walla where it meets the grass three five one is that a caliber a handgun caliber 351 Magnum yeah that
00:06:39
doesn't look like handgun bullet though a different caliber with uh with one of the cases that
00:06:47
carforward has just found it appears that there may actually have been a second firearm involved because this
00:06:52
this last case that was found is of a different caliber than the ones previously located
00:06:57
obviously when we have to deal with a situation like this it bothers us as much as anyone else I think the members
00:07:03
perhaps get better than most people at dealing with their emotions and how this impacts on them and I think we all come
00:07:10
up with different ways of dealing with our emotions and how we feel about this certainly we deal with a lot of
00:07:17
situations like this and in some ways I guess you almost become accustomed to uh
00:07:22
to seeing these sort of things but in other ways you never get used to it I know for myself what always strikes me
00:07:28
the most or has the biggest impact on me when I come to a situation or a scene like this is it really emphasizes to me
00:07:36
how short life is or at least how quickly it can be over we go to fatal accidents where a person is driving
00:07:42
along uh enjoying the the sunny day and the next instant they're struck by an
00:07:47
impaired driver and their life is over or a case like this this fellow apparently had come from India a month
00:07:52
ago he's probably enjoying his holidays here enjoying the games that were going
00:07:56
on and the company that he's spending his time with and instantly his life is
00:08:01
gone and it just really uh really gets me each time as to how quickly it can be over with no warning
00:08:08
no idea and I guess we have to try and enjoy life as much as we can while we're
00:08:12
here [Music] okay we're on our way to 3787 Canada way it's Starlight Billiards
00:08:30
it's a pool hall frequented by a lot of Asian gang members for this area and we just got a call that there's some
00:08:39
Dynamite strapped under a blue Camaro and uh so we're gonna go down with the
00:08:44
dog the dog I have is an explosive detection dog hello here's a gentleman that called obviously
00:08:52
are all assuming okay I call a doctor to leave so I see a little fire under his car on the
00:09:10
passenger door just down there so I wonder there and one of these days I've done a mic there I just
00:09:17
switch off the uh the fire okay so you guys your expert you can take care of yourself well we'll go and take a look
00:09:25
we just get you just out of here yeah I've seen you standing by it there so let's get you to stay in here for a
00:09:30
while and we'll go take a look at it no problem all right [Music] foreign I see the fire as I was living with the
00:10:02
taxi and uh okay what's going on somebody tried to burn it or what so when they came in I'm
00:10:09
in close I see the diamond mine and I go with my leg like Adam and switch it off
00:10:14
okay well another little thing or what it certainly looks like it Burnaby Echo six
00:10:51
can you contact edu for me please and have them attend 10-4 what we got I think is uh or an actual
00:11:07
stick of dynamoite and uh I'm not gonna subject myself or my dog to it unnecessarily we have uh the
00:11:16
explosives disposal unit for that and uh it looks real it's wrapped in what appears to be authentic wrapping we've
00:11:26
got here what appears to be authentic detonating cord and we could probably go over pick it up
00:11:35
throw it in the trunk in the way we go but uh we've got the disposal unit guys for
00:11:39
that for a reason and we'll let them take care of it scary stuff what's that did you already check it out
00:11:50
she's right over there did you look yeah we got a piece of the cord right here
00:11:58
on the screen I guess you don't have a workstation got a piece of the cord right here
00:12:08
stomped it out oh is that right yeah what did you see [Music] the car so I said what's going on
00:12:19
sometimes bodies to try to fire you know when I was there I see the diamond mine
00:12:25
so I go with my leg and I take off the fire that's it I mean I was like if it was more bronze
00:12:32
it could explode on me where's your friend he's inside it didn't work
00:12:37
you know could probably like I say very easily just pick it up and carry it out of here
00:12:44
but we've contacted the explosives disposal unit they will attend and they're the expert
00:12:52
with handling this stuff and they may do the same they may just walk up pick it up and throw it into their vehicle and
00:12:59
drive away or they may use a robot or whatever I have an explosives magazine in the
00:13:04
back of my vehicle because the dog I have is an explosive detection dog and uh I carry explosives with me for training
00:13:13
purposes with the dog and what I have here is a little jar Mark deck cord and then here is a few strands of actual
00:13:20
deck cord and this here is a piece of that cord from underneath the Camaro and it's the
00:13:27
the same stuff so we're looking at a The Real McCoy here and uh had it gone off but I'm sure would have
00:13:37
ruined the Camaro over there and if somebody was in the Camaro then we could be looking at somebody being
00:13:43
seriously injured in this particular case uh one of the gentlemen that's a friend of the owner seen it burning
00:13:51
and physically walked over himself and stepped on it and put the fire out and he's a very lucky man
00:13:58
you don't uh you don't mess around with that type of stuff but uh he did and he got away with it this time
00:14:07
you guys want to I wouldn't mind I doubt it would be any good though I have that stuff's covered in um
00:14:17
we're not going to worry about it no I'm not going to worry about that okay
00:14:21
what we'll do is we'll take that out of the way then we'll uh we'll check the
00:14:24
rest of the car up for you as well appreciate that [Music] new stuff yeah I haven't seen that
00:14:42
before myself 96 right Dino Dino we had a theft of that not that long ago we had a theft of that stuff
00:14:58
okay we'll do a search of the vehicle for you as well basically what's happening now is our explosives disposal
00:15:03
unit has arrived and they are searching the area around the vehicle and they'll remove the package and
00:15:13
they'll be dealing with it what they'll probably do is bring it back to their
00:15:17
area and detonate it to get rid of it what we retrieved here from underneath a Camaro was a stick of Dino gel extra gel
00:15:25
75 which is a 1 by 8 stick of nitro based explosives a dynamite if you think of it
00:15:34
as a dynamite fast into that was a length of yellow cord which is a detonating cord it's a 40 grain
00:15:41
detonating cord it's a little different way of trying to make this function but one stick underneath the car
00:15:49
certainly would have caused some some damage to the passenger side foreign [Music]
00:16:06
drug overdose at the West hotel so that's all we know so far that's a drug overdose on the second floor
00:16:15
we'll see what happens when we get there [Music] okay bud come on we got uh he's out guys
00:16:37
oh yeah there he comes come on buddy stay with us okay yeah he was right out not breathing
00:16:47
nothing come on man stay awake okay stay awake or you're not gonna make it that's a bit big you got a small one
00:16:58
come on man stay with us eh he was uh he's coldly yeah he's got a false I just need some
00:17:16
I need some more two in this here he comes Jesus good thing they got here now this
00:17:28
guy's almost gone got a pulse yeah we're getting a little action here now
00:17:43
yeah yeah let's move them up want to move them on the floor they'll probably want him under the floor right
00:17:51
just watch for needles there's a needle on the thing behind you there's needles
00:17:55
all over the counter here put them up in the bed you want to move them yeah watch for needles
00:18:06
okay he was gone I got a punch earlier so uh he's not that far gone yet he's got the spoon out
00:18:24
there and everything he's doing heroin and whatever he's warm again he was freezing when we
00:18:33
got here this guy if we wouldn't have got here and the time we did he'd probably be
00:18:46
dead so with a little bit of luck he'll come out of it and Live Another Day be strong though pretty strong Coast
00:19:03
yeah huh they probably will Sports better see if he's gonna I just want to see if
00:19:18
he's gonna breathe see I can see his pulse there he goes yeah he's breathing
00:19:29
really slow respirations though okay let's do it for oh yeah uh if you get some idea here
00:19:41
pupils are dilated he's barely here how many respirations what will happen is the ambulance will
00:19:59
come in and they'll give him some Narcan and he'll be back with us in probably
00:20:03
five minutes and come too and you'll probably want to fight when he comes too
00:20:13
there's one how old would you see us 35 30 35. feel them still cold in the head
00:20:36
guys hello hi guys hello he was uh right out of it and cold not breathing anything I
00:20:44
thought he was gone okay is there anybody who uh was around who may have seen when he went down I'm currently
00:20:49
someone whoever would call it at the desk just uh he's got a good pulse uh he's done breathing well on his own he
00:20:56
didn't have a pulse when we got here it didn't seem like it anymore yes he does
00:21:00
awesome they were saying they were charts everywhere yeah so shortly after you started bagging at
00:21:41
me and started yeah okay and uh color changed oh he was cool very cool okay there we go oh you gotta be there hang
00:22:03
on let me get this in first okay everybody just relax I need you to hold nice and still okay we're gonna have you
00:22:09
overdosed hello hello it's all right paramedics are here we're looking after you you overdosed tonight
00:22:16
okay okay okay there we go yeah I guess so I didn't even get it you didn't get it into him no it's just a
00:22:57
baggie bagging the same thing you just gotta do it for a while all righty what's your name
00:23:06
yeah so yeah how much heroin did you know how much heroin did you do tonight just a
00:23:14
little bit okay wow you were sleeping a little bit too much okay can you pass me a cuff partner out
00:23:27
of here wait a mailer is probably 30 to 35 um they were having a drug party obviously there's needles all over the
00:23:37
counter and uh supposedly his friend got freaked out and ran out and left him there and pulled in the ambulance and
00:23:44
said his buddy was dying there's oding so we got in there he was cold uh he had no pulse
00:23:53
and he wasn't breathing and if his pulse was there it was really really minimal
00:23:58
a little soon as we bag and masked him which gives him a high concentration of oxygen that brings him back pretty quick
00:24:04
so the heat gets back in his body and I love the part where he's been sleeping
00:24:09
yeah I was just sleeping here it was going to be a long sleep if we didn't show up yeah usually they have to
00:24:18
bring him around with Narcan it's a drug that they give to all the heroin users
00:24:22
and it brings them back out of their High it brings them down they don't like
00:24:24
it so they want to fight you when they come too they didn't have to use it this
00:24:28
time we bagged them so long that got enough oxygen back into a system that brought him around and all the motion
00:24:33
and movement woke him up so that's good right now we're on a complaint where
00:24:51
someone's trying to break into some cars in the Newton area of Surrey the dog man
00:24:57
is out on the track and uh sounds like he's got a really hot Trail right now
00:25:02
the dog's moving a good clip uh right now the track's going through an alley behind some houses and we're
00:25:09
just setting up a perimeter sort of at the far south end of that alley dog man's coming towards us
00:25:13
hopefully if um the bad guy's still on the move he won't be able to make it
00:25:18
past our point at this end of the alley and the dog will catch them somewhere in
00:25:23
between our point and where they are now I was on Perimeter right at the end of the island there you go okay
00:25:41
please my girlfriend lives at the very end of this alley okay let's prove that to you
00:25:48
we'll see what we can prove in a minute here right now you're under arrest for theft
00:25:52
okay except of what though breaking into a vehicle I swear to God I can I can walk down to the end of here and it's my
00:25:59
girlfriend's house I don't deal with that that doesn't mean you weren't up a little further breaking
00:26:04
into cars okay let me check yeah yeah go ahead and check everything I haven't broken into any cars do you
00:26:18
want to understand do you want to call a lawyer yes okay can I just get a hold of
00:26:22
my girlfriend she's right up the street from here you're not obliged to say
00:26:26
anything but anything you do say may be given in evidence to understand yeah I was going from another friend's
00:26:31
house his name's Craig I don't know exactly if we stop by Craig's house will
00:26:34
we confirm that well he's probably going to bed by now it's okay I don't mind waking him up all
00:26:40
I know is I'm hanging what's Chris what's Craig gonna say if we show up his
00:26:44
house Bear Creek Market I don't even know where that is why would you be looking for Bear Creek Market because
00:26:49
that's where I'm supposed for my girlfriend and she's right there right
00:26:53
now and you just said that you're heading to your girlfriend's house so are you going to the market or to her
00:26:58
house I was going to the market the Colorado house her house is right there she's
00:27:02
awake why wouldn't you just go to the house because I didn't want to like just knock
00:27:07
on our door and stuff like that I'd rather just call her first right okay so
00:27:11
if we go to Craig's house what do you think he's gonna say I don't know wow
00:27:17
I was just walking from down there huh like I'm not doing nothing you can totally check are you walking dead were
00:27:22
you walking from down there were you walking from Craig's house I was just walking from that direction man I was
00:27:27
just looking for were you actually coming from Craig's house or were you coming from somewhere else
00:27:31
I was just coming from my girlfriend's house man coming from your girlfriend's
00:27:35
house yeah and I'm supposed to meet some guy back but I got lost and I'm going
00:27:39
back well why does the story keep changing here we're talking about all the [ __ ]
00:27:53
you're giving me you expect me to believe that you haven't broken into cars yet you're lying to me about all
00:27:57
sorts of crap right now well I know some why not to my girlfriend's house you can give her a
00:28:02
call you can confirm that I was there just like about 10-15 minutes ago and I just want to go back well what I know is
00:28:07
we had a report of people breaking the cars we had dog track right to you and hang on hang on another guy or something
00:28:13
we had a dog track right to you and I also know that you're giving me all sorts of crap you're telling me you're
00:28:18
coming from Craig's house you're telling me you're coming from that way you're
00:28:19
telling me you're coming from your girl's house up there I'm walking down a back alley right but
00:28:25
well lots of people hang on lots of people walk down back alleys but imagine you're one of us for a sec we've just
00:28:30
had someone breaking into a vehicle take off Dog Tracks to a person in the Sally
00:28:35
and this person starts lying to us about where they're coming from what do you think you would think if
00:28:40
you're having trouble with you guys before and I just don't I just want to
00:28:44
get hold of my girlfriend so she keep confirmed she just sits at the end of the Sally okay I went leaving ball if
00:28:49
she could confirm all this stuff why did you lie to us in the first place well I don't know I was just because I
00:28:54
just I just want to hurry up and get the hell home man it's been a late night for
00:28:58
me and I just want to go home and get some sleep okay and I'm not doing it well it's like you can sleep in the back
00:29:04
of the police car break down between the alleyway and then hit the stationary at
00:29:07
that great fence and there's nothing in the 350 degree around where he was standing yeah we had uh I saw the alley
00:29:17
there so we parked right on 140th at the end of The Alley so we couldn't cut
00:29:20
across there well we're just doing you can see him where he's kick stones out
00:29:23
all in the area right at the corner and there's nothing there's nothing anywhere
00:29:28
past that point we're just waiting for us to leave it yeah exactly exactly yeah
00:29:31
we've uh dealt with this guy before okay yeah I I can't remember right now what
00:29:40
it's for as soon as I saw him I recognized him and he gave the name again it clicked but this Dent has been
00:29:45
there but these these have never been there and I'm very specific about that
00:29:49
because they're always checking because okay this is this head this this happened the last time my car was broken
00:29:55
into let's put these new ones so you've been having lots and lots of problems
00:29:59
around here yeah I think that those people their trailer's been done this car has been
00:30:05
done twice I've had this car since November and it's been broken into place
00:30:08
this one's been broken into twice for sure mine has been broken into twice that that red truck has been broken into
00:30:16
once we know that the the house has been sold down there they had their cars actually smashed three times Brad and
00:30:26
Mona who live in there have a van that they now park in their garage yeah and that they can't their locks are totally
00:30:31
broken they have to go in through one one side are they actually stealing the vehicles or just stealing stuff from
00:30:36
inside we know there's nothing there's nothing no one ever keeps anything in here
00:30:41
anymore because it's been broken into so many times it just makes me so mad to know that this
00:30:47
kid's gonna get off when he had to wake me up he had to bring out how many of your guys
00:30:54
mm-hmm no we well it's frustrating for us too when we deal with people exactly over
00:30:58
and over again we had the chase with him about a I don't know a year ago he had
00:31:03
stolen car early just ripped off and uh yeah we'll deal with this one again because that wasn't there before so
00:31:10
doesn't that somehow prove that that he was trying to do something like they're looking for proof about this guy
00:31:18
and you couldn't you couldn't break into my car on that side it's always been
00:31:21
broken in on this side because I don't have the light I'm sure they couldn't
00:31:24
thank you yeah he um you know like I said he's been in trouble for the surfing before and also
00:31:31
he was just telling me he has a warrant out for him so um hopefully he'll be going to jail for a
00:31:36
little while anyways I gotta meet someone I got a phone call there's an amazingly similar description
00:31:42
with the jacket and everything I know what I did in the past but you could check my record man I haven't been
00:31:48
doing nothing in the past year and a half okay don't you think it's a little too
00:31:56
coincidental though with the time the area of the track leading right to you the jacket
00:32:04
not to mention all the lies well I just don't really like talking across [Music]
00:32:15
timeline is serum protect where I haven't even done anything wrong man this is the second time what were you on
00:32:21
for before the last time me and my buddy were just walking down the street just because it's like two three in the
00:32:27
morning we get pulled over we get stoned on the ground at the dog Chomp on me and
00:32:32
then they let us go exactly what you're gonna say to me now if you're like oh
00:32:36
like yeah yeah we know you did it blah blah blah I'm like what did I like was
00:32:40
that uh yeah I swear to God was that one where you ran and the dog grabbed you just
00:32:47
after you went through a yard into a cul-de-sac something like that we got released you
00:32:54
or your buddy had a little backpack with some stuff in nope no backpacks no tools
00:32:58
no nothing no I'm not saying any tools I had money on me it was the cold call Cap
00:33:02
we're like three steps away from a phone where was that what and then Chomp right
00:33:06
on the ground right and then they're like oh why are you steam and I go because when I see someone running at
00:33:12
me with the dog I'm gonna start running away I don't like dogs right do you remember what the street was or
00:33:18
where that was that was in Fraser Heights freezer Heights and I live in Guilford
00:33:23
that's where I originally lived yeah okay anyways we'll catch you later but uh
00:33:35
[Music] if I get released in the morning it's up to the judge yeah I don't know I don't know what the
00:33:43
circumstances are you gonna write that down um you can mention that to the Phil who's gonna be
00:33:48
taking you in foreign [Music] I want you to stop making so much noise down here I haven't made any noise I
00:34:28
don't want to hear that I was here last weekend told me the same thing I did not
00:34:32
make any noise keep your voice down keep your voice down okay now are you harassing the lady upstairs
00:34:41
she's saying that you're harassing her hmm this is ridiculous well I'm sorry but if
00:34:49
you are you're committing criminal offense yeah okay what what what do I have what do I
00:34:55
have to defend me okay because I'm I I'm sitting in my living room doing nothing I'm sitting in
00:35:04
my living room doing absolutely nothing keep your voice down please okay now are you having these guys were here
00:35:11
keep your voice down please for four officers caught me out of bed last week yeah I
00:35:17
was here tell me that I was making noise you were okay in bed listening to sleep
00:35:23
listen to me listen to me okay now it's the second time we've been here in a
00:35:26
week okay this lady says you're making a lot of noise we've had other complaints
00:35:30
okay now you've got to keep it down I understand that you've been evicted out
00:35:34
of here hear how you're moving at the end of the month okay have you got a place to go no not yet you're looking
00:35:41
okay I just want to make sure that there's no more problems okay is there going to be any more problems
00:35:51
all we're asking is listen listen what do you want me to do listen to me listen
00:35:56
to me lay down die no I don't want you no I don't I don't want you to do that
00:36:00
one but there's four families all living in the same building here okay yeah so
00:36:03
you've all got to live together and and he also has a problem and respect each
00:36:07
other's privacy you wouldn't like it if people were waking you up in the middle
00:36:10
of the night or playing music loud would you do you hear any music no I don't
00:36:15
this is what I asked last week do you hear any music okay there is no music okay I have not had my stereo on
00:36:22
in my eviction notice it says drums okay you see those drums over there all right
00:36:30
I have not played those drums in six months okay okay okay I can prove I can prove I do not have my symbols
00:36:40
I can hear you okay listen I'm just gonna explain one thing to you okay when you're making noise in
00:36:46
here even though you're in your own home okay and you can do what you want in
00:36:49
your own home oh can I yes you can but how can I do but listen but under the criminal code there's a section called
00:36:55
mischief and that's interfering with the lawful enjoyment of other people's
00:36:58
property which means if you're making too much noise and other people are bothered by it then that's a problem so
00:37:03
all we're asking I have not had my music okay so all we're asking at all period
00:37:08
so all we're asking is that you keep it down okay and we won't harass and we
00:37:12
won't be back I feel I'm being harassed well I'm sure you feel that way but the
00:37:16
fact is we get complaints and we have to okay what under the criminal code do I have
00:37:22
to say that I am being harassed by who who's harassing you you I'm harassing
00:37:27
you well you've been here tonight that's right here last week that's right here
00:37:31
you were here three weeks let's go on and on I wasn't here three weeks ago and
00:37:37
not not personally I'm not saying personally all I'm saying is that you know
00:37:43
I have not done anything I'm not I have not done anything this is my home okay
00:37:49
I'm sitting here watching television I have done nothing okay and and and and
00:37:56
and I have you people at my door telling me that I am doing something wrong okay
00:38:02
and I have not done anything wrong okay listen all I'm asking is I'm going to
00:38:06
leave you alone you can go to bed or do whatever you're doing as long as you're
00:38:10
not bothering anybody else and nobody's bothering you if somebody's bothering
00:38:13
you you feel free to call us I don't have a telephone you don't have a phone
00:38:16
well you can make a range okay I'd be calling about her doing laundry 1 30 in
00:38:23
the morning okay then I'll be calling you okay hey you know right okay look guys
00:38:31
let's get it right okay no I've I've got it right I know the story okay do you
00:38:37
I'm wrong I didn't say you're wrong if you were wrong you'd be coming with me
00:38:42
well take me well I don't want to have to do that do you want to come with me I
00:38:46
haven't done nothing okay so all I'm asking is did you get along with them
00:38:50
for as long as you're here okay you're moving in two weeks and then what
00:38:55
well then you won't have a problem anymore with the lady upstairs and then what you're going to do with
00:39:01
the next people are moving well that's not your problem that's not your problem
00:39:05
okay but you do not yell through the floor you do not yell through the wall now do we understand each other no more
00:39:11
problem and we will not be here they understand each other I didn't do anything we'll leave you alone for
00:39:16
Nightline and hopefully we won't be back okay all right good night [Music] we're just with one of our undercover
00:39:33
officers here who's been working on Investigation in which he had some information from a person in regards to
00:39:40
a small marijuana grow operation in the middle of a well forested area so we've
00:39:44
been uh looking through the bush here for a while trying to find this and uh keep going until we get it
00:39:52
bingo how many planes do you figure looks like a dozen good size ones anyway they uh that's different they're being
00:40:11
outside yeah for an outdoor one here although it was a little difficult to get into it's still public accessible
00:40:18
really well hidden here you can see why uh it's got in this league without anyone else finding it and ripping it
00:40:23
off yeah if we figured it was our three and a half follow there big one there is about six
00:40:30
and a half feet yeah so how did you uh get onto this uh basically it was a member of the general
00:40:38
public I came forward he was a little reluctant to uh to talk to a uniform member I didn't want anything uh any
00:40:44
involvement with him just because he was scared of maybe some sort of Retribution
00:40:47
from whoever's responsible for the grow operation here so uh I went over and
00:40:51
spoke to him and I'm playing close and uh went over spoke with him and he led
00:40:56
me through here obviously I had to have him show me because there's no way I
00:40:59
probably would have found it all by myself and uh it's a big help to USA when
00:41:05
member general public come forward and are able to assist us in locating these he's obviously a little concerned about
00:41:10
the impact on the neighborhood the this type of activity brings a boat I guess I should say the
00:41:19
type of people that are attracted for this stuff when we're a culture we're
00:41:23
coming through the Worcester you can see all sorts of passive and recently cut through the bush and I guess there's a
00:41:28
good chance that there's a lot more of these little uh plots in the in the area here yeah I
00:41:33
wouldn't be surprised if they've probably got three or four set up a little vicinity that's a good example of
00:41:39
where you know we have to depend on the people in the community help us because there's no way we could could ever have
00:41:44
found this on our own what will happen here is uh we'll be seizing the drugs there's really not a
00:41:52
lot we can do with an investigation like this as to trying to identify the person's responsible for growing the
00:41:58
marijuana once we get this out of here it'll all be made an exhibit and eventually uh
00:42:03
destroyed locally at our office it it gets burnt look how thick that stock is eh
00:42:09
what's up that's been here for quite a while yeah yeah there's a bunch of plastic milk jugs
00:42:19
here we don't know for sure why they're here but a good chance that whoever was
00:42:24
growing marijuana was hauling in chemicals and nutrients for the plants there obviously the plants have been
00:42:29
well looked after to get to the size that they did to Growing just out in the bush like this so um it's no doubt that
00:42:36
those containers were used to bring chemicals in when you think about it uh it does make
00:42:44
you wonder about uh how brassy some of these guys are I mean here we are in the heart of one of uh major residential
00:42:50
areas in Surrey here and uh they've got a little marijuana grow going and obviously it has been going for a fair
00:42:57
amount of time to be able to reach the plants to be able to reach this maturity um
00:43:05
it's just a prime example of where this kind of stuff can happen anywhere it can be next door or uh see
00:43:12
you there the neighbor here uh who came forward has lived in this area for uh an
00:43:17
extensive amount of time goes walking through here all the time and it was the first seed
00:43:22
keep seeing of it it's uh about 15 plants here and right that's into the street value
00:43:31
is about a thousand dollars a plant so uh you know that's a fair little sum of
00:43:35
money that someone could have made off of this marijuana here this is in the general area here that
00:43:40
have been pointed out to me that may be Associated to this so uh obviously we'll
00:43:44
be paying a little closer attention uh to this area than we have been in the recent past just to ensure that this
00:43:50
type of activity doesn't continue here um we've seen incredible growth in the
00:43:55
number of residences that we're coming across where they where they have hydroponic operations growing marijuana
00:44:00
inside and apparently British Columbia has a very good reputation for high quality marijuana
00:44:06
worldwide it is rather amazing that uh you know we're still coming across operations like this when we have a you
00:44:12
know our Drug Squad has a an entire team right now that's just dedicated to uh
00:44:18
grow operations they've got themselves a nickname of the Green Team and they've
00:44:24
been dismantling uh you know grows in a in the area of uh you know hundreds to thousands of plants even this for
00:44:31
ourselves alone just in our Zone with our ship this is the second grow up that we've done in three days and really it's
00:44:37
not in common for the judgment to gain information or arrests on a daily basis from operations like this in a lot of
00:44:43
these cases it's as a result of an unrelated investigation whether it's a
00:44:47
break and Enter or something else that we're dealing with but also it's very
00:44:52
important to us that we keep linking information from the general public as to what they know about because really
00:44:58
without their information we wouldn't get a fraction of what we do [Music] foreign
00:45:38
[Laughter] [Music]
