Tony Quinn is a Scottish-born businessman based in Australia with massive links to New Zealand.

He built and sold the pet food business VIP and now owns four racetracks, including Highlands, Hampton Downs and Taupō Motorsport Park in New Zealand - Not bad from a kid who grew up in a wooden caravan.

We talk about losing his daughter to cancer, the loneliness that followed the breakdown of his 38 year marriage, the big wins and losses of his business life, the thrill of driving Michael Schumacers F1 car, almost dying in 2022, the buzz he got from giving life changing sums of money away to staff, his obsession with MAFS! And so much more.

It’s the first time we met. TQ is the ultimate character….and he has a great accent. I could have listened to him for hours longer and I hope you feel the same way with this episode

Massive thanks to my long-term podcast sponsor, Generate.

We’ve all got that one mate who’s convinced they’ve worked out how to beat the market, usually with a lot of confidence and no actual expertise.

So, here's your reminder not to get caught up in the noise and trust the real investment experts at Generate.

I sat down with a Generate KiwiSaver adviser when they came on as sponsor in 2023, and it was one of those conversations that made me think, why didn’t I do this earlier?

A Generate adviser can help you figure out what fund type is best suited to your KiwiSaver goals.
