Richard O’Brien: Rocky Horror Legend
Episode Description
Richard O’Brien wrote The Rocky Horror Show. The Time Warp, Riff Raff, the lot. Half a century on, the world is still doing his dance.
He’s 84, sharp as a tack, and lives in the Bay of Plenty. He gave me two hours and it was magic.
We talked: how a Christmas party song became the opening number of Rocky Horror, Mick Jagger trying to buy the film rights, Meat Loaf and the fishnets, and why he isn’t bitter that the film never made him rich.
An absolute legend. It was an honour to sit across from him.
