00:00:00
is there a case I mean you worked so
00:00:01
many that that really stays with you um
00:00:05
so just last year right after the Kyle
00:00:10
Epiphany um Natalie Holloway was one of
00:00:13
the last cases I had provided
00:00:16
information on and I always said she was
00:00:18
in the water said she's in the water
00:00:20
Vander slot did it this is what happened
00:00:23
I mean I went on news programs it was
00:00:25
not a secret um and they finally got
00:00:30
admission last fall I believe sometime
00:00:33
around that um so I was able to close
00:00:36
that in my mind because the answers were
00:00:39
there there's only one case after that
00:00:42
one out of all the cases I've ever
00:00:44
worked that has no conclusion and it was
00:00:47
Mel begs and that will always bother me
00:00:49
she was my driving force in starting an
00:00:52
Amber Alert in Arizona serving on the
00:00:55
task force to design it I actually asked
00:00:58
her mother to come with me to knock on
00:01:02
doors to get the Amber Alert passed into
00:01:05
Arizona um so that it was a law it was a
00:01:08
function that we had available to us
00:01:10
because the majority of stranger
00:01:12
abductions I believe the FBI statistic
00:01:14
is they're killed the low statistics
00:01:18
within seven hours but it's usually
00:01:19
really within like three um so as soon
00:01:22
as they're removed to a remote area
00:01:25
they're dead unless they're one of the
00:01:28
Miracles that survives the strangulation
00:01:30
or whatever the mode of of murder was
00:01:33
and um the Amber Alert they were they in
00:01:37
Dallas Fort Worth area they were using
00:01:39
it there so when I went to Texas for the
00:01:41
my first case which was the opal
00:01:43
Jennings case she was a little
00:01:45
girl um when I went out there the cop
00:01:48
that I was riding in the car with was
00:01:50
telling me about the amber alert and
00:01:52
that it was created for Amber Hagerman
00:01:53
who was raped and murdered in the Fort
00:01:56
Worth area and so that's why I brought
00:01:58
it back to Arizona cuz only had it in
00:02:00
the Fort Worth um Dallas Fort Worth area
00:02:03
and in San Diego those were the only two
00:02:05
places in the entire country that had it
00:02:07
so this was a long time ago mind you and
00:02:10
so I wanted it in Arizona and with uh
00:02:13
Tracy Big's help Mel's mother uh we
00:02:16
knocked on enough doors that JD Hayworth
00:02:18
was the only politician that actually
00:02:21
called us back and listened to us and
00:02:23
helped us implement it clear channel is
00:02:25
worried about being sued because they're
00:02:28
like what if it's a prank I'm like what
00:02:30
if it's not yeah what if it's a real
00:02:32
child abducted it's not worth if we have
00:02:34
to deal with pranks so be it yeah and
00:02:36
then they were worried about well what
00:02:39
if they don't meet the age requirement
00:02:41
what if it's an old person I'm like can
00:02:42
we cross that bridge after we get like
00:02:44
the bones of this put down um I knew
00:02:47
Molly Bish's story cuz I had met her
00:02:49
parents through Tracy bigs and she was a
00:02:52
lifeguard that was abducted from her
00:02:54
post and so I got them to raise the age
00:02:58
to 17
00:03:00
in Arizona because at the time it was 15
00:03:03
cuz they thought a lot were runaways and
00:03:05
like a lot of them aren't mhm um and so
00:03:08
they did raise it to 17 so I did that
00:03:11
that made me proud amazing yeah
