Brief Summary
David Sacks says ending the Iran war could lower oil and food prices and help Trump recover politically.
Key points
- One answer, three times. Asked for the top three things Trump can do, Sacks gives the same answer for all three: get out of the war.
- The economic case for ending the war. Sacks argues that ending the war would bring down oil, gas, diesel, and food prices, letting strong economic growth come back into focus.
- A warning for Republicans. Sacks says Trump's popularity could rebound if the war ends, but Republicans will keep losing popularity if it continues.
Transcript
Your question was, can Trump fix this? I think absolutely. >> What's your top three things he can do to fix it? >> Just get out of the war. >> Okay. And the war. >> That's my number one, my number two, and my number three. Because what will happen? The price of Brent crude will drop precipitously. On the day of the election, the price of Brent crude dropped 10%. Is that because something changed in the straight of war moves? No. is because the market started to price in the mere possibility that the war would end sooner and we got a 10% cut in the price of brink crude. It will go from 110 to 70 if this war ends. Gas
prices will drop, diesel will drop, the price of food will drop and then the underlying strong economic growth, the GDP growth and the employment picture which are still robust will come into focus. And I think that Trump's popularity will rebound and be back in the 40s. That's the thing we need to do. And if we don't do that, if the war continues, the Republicans will continue to bleed popularity.
